101  Local / Mining (Deutsch) / Re: Quarkcoin-Qt unter Debian on: August 01, 2013, 05:44:05 PM
Quark ist ein netter CPU only Coin der per Zufall drei der sechs SHA3 Kandidaten (blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein) benutzt. Für Leute mit einer CPU Farm ist der Coin ideal.

Maybe you put too much AS5 on the chip? AS5 takes a long time to stabilze and is conductive. You can easily make short circuits with AS5 if you are not very carefull. Better use a good ceramic paste to be safe.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you were to implement a CPU-only coin... on: July 29, 2013, 05:37:07 AM
I would use a combination of bcrypt (uses lots of memory operations) and sha512 or keccak512 (64bit arithmetic).

I'm also on ESMPPS 520 since a few hours (because D7 was down), but only with 1.2 Gh/s. We definitely need more hashrate.
106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lite coin mining-is it worth it in my situation? (also a pool based on this?) on: July 28, 2013, 10:16:19 AM
Poolers pool is https://www.litecoinpool.org/

Quote
By "not pay at all" do you mean pay less?
No, at a PPLNS pool you don't get anything if your hashrate is too low compared with other miners.

For solo mining any of the major coins the difficulty is too high IMHO. Thats like playing lotto, the chance that you win is very low.
107  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lite coin mining-is it worth it in my situation? (also a pool based on this?) on: July 28, 2013, 07:11:16 AM
Litecoin CPU mining is still ok if you are mining on a PPS pool like poolers pool. For mining on PPLNS pools, like P2Pools (like harvestcoin), it is only usefull when you get more than 600 khash/s. Below that the pools won't pay you at all. Also don't mine on CPU when you already mine on GPU with the same computer, as it slows down both miners and you gain nothing.
For the AMD APUs I recommend the 13.6 beta driver, as it squeezes out a little extra hashes compared to the older drivers.
Namecoins are a worthy little extra that you can merge mine on some pools like Bitminter or Bitparking. You need a namecoin wallet like the one from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=236375.0

There is an idiot proof guide at BTC Guild how you could use USB Block Eruptors with BFGMiner:

111  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New GUI Mining Program - Crypto Extractor Beta 0.1 Release & Dominatrix Engine on: July 24, 2013, 06:19:08 PM
Dear DoctorDoom,
yes, making loading the last saved config file as default would make sense, as most people usually mine on the same pools. The good thing about your miner is that you simply could stop mining, load another config and then mining on another pool setup easily. It is possible with other miners too, but a bit more complicated.

All cards use the default overdrive setting.

7660D (GPU of the A10-5800K APU, VLIW4):

7950 (GCN 1.0):

7790 (GCN 1.1):

No I was only mining on ECM and Bitparking that day, with load balancing, but strangely i wasn't getting any accepted share on one of the pools. Maybe it was realy a bad day.

I'm using Windows 7 64bit with classic theme to squeeze out a bit more out of the 7660D as the new visual effects use a bit of GPU time  Wink

For me WinMiner / Crypto Extractor has the potential to become THE WINDOWS MINER, as it's easy as Guiminer and powerfull like BFGMiner/CGMiner at the same time. Here are my suggestions that should be added to make it the ultimate miner:
- get Fancontrol for all AMD cards working (Overdrive isn't that important to me as I don't want to burn out my cards quickly, but I can see that lots of people will want it)
- add Scrypt (Litecoin and 99% of all other coins), Scrypt-Jane (YACoin & YBCoin) and Keccak512 (Copper Lark) mining, so that you can switch mining on the fly. Now you need different miners for those and one miner for all would make it a lot easier. Also Primecoin should be added when there is a working  OpenCL miner
- add support for common ASICs (BFL, ASICMiner USB Block Erruptor)
- add support for common FPGAs (ZTEX)
- add more pre defined pools to the list (harvestcoin or D7 PPCoin pool just came to my mind)

How big is the POS interrest of this coin? 1% (like PPCoin), 5% (like YACoin) or variable (like Novacoin)?

The PoS scheme is the same as NVC's.
So it's like 48% for the first year (but dropping over years)? *evil laugh* MUST MINE THIS CARPET, ERRR DUDECOIN, ERRR WHATEVER NOW  Grin

117  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Litecoin on MTGOX? on: July 22, 2013, 04:27:29 PM
Mt.Gox should add Litecoin and Namecoin as quick as possible. With their payout problem people will walk off to other exchanges sooner or later, but if people could trade between those three cryptocoins to build up a bigger pile of cash, then they will stay there until the problem is fixed.

Don't crossfire your cards, it will slow them down. Just put the four cards in your rig without crossfire cable attached.

I can get Radeon 7950s new locally for under $250 at the moment. Because of increased competition from the big N I expect they'll hit $200 new soon.

how? where?  cheapest 7950s i can find are like $300. thanks
Powercolor / TUL are making the cheapest Radeon cards, you have to search a bit to find a good price. Hint: try google shopping for example ;-)
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pls advise on purchasing multi gpu motherboard for litecoining on: July 21, 2013, 08:22:45 AM
I'm currently mining YACoin (a Scrypt-jane coin, so it's a bit different than normal Scrypt coins like Litecoin):

GPU:Hashrate:Power consumption:Cheapest Price:
779057 kHash/s50 Watt€ 102
795094 kHash/s200 Watt€ 226
The 7790 has more than 60% of the hashrate of the 7950 at only 25% power consumption and costs 45% of a 7950. So I'd say the 7790 is the smarter choice, you just need more cards  Wink

I will check with Litecoin in a minute.

Edit: here is the result for Litecoin (just standard BFGminer settings, you probably can squeeze out more):

GPU:Hashrate:Power consumption:Cheapest Price:
7790213 kHash/s50 Watt€ 102
7950469 kHash/s200 Watt€ 226
Ok, with Litecoin it's only 45% Hashrate of a 7950. So the hashrate/price ratio is equal, but the power consumption of the 7790 is still better.

If price and power consumption doesn't matter, and all you want to get is the max hashrate per PCIe slot, then the only choice is 7990. That  beast is two 7970 chips on one card and should give you 1200 kHash/s.
