101  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: typical hosting fees? on: January 27, 2018, 10:44:35 PM
An s9 uses 1.4 kw not 1
102  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: typical hosting fees? on: January 26, 2018, 07:14:19 PM
So that would be  $105-$130 Canadian for a single s9. They usually don't take a single one though.
103  Economy / Service Discussion / typical hosting fees? on: January 26, 2018, 05:19:55 PM
What are typical hosting fees of say an antminer s9? I remember GND saying $58 per kw per month for s9s but can't remember if that was american or canadian pesos. I contacted a "full service" hosting service in Quebec and for 10 miners they would do $1977 A month canadian.

What kind of prices are you guys seeing?
104  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Advice on mining farm Quebec on: January 22, 2018, 05:44:37 AM
Tell me about it! I have 8 acres just outside Winnipeg one mile west of the West perimeter. 7.2kv 3 phase is just across the gravel road. If I buy my own transformer that would be 3.9 cents per kwhr.

But FML trying to get Hydro to tell me how much kva is available on those lines.

Development wouldn't be an issue either, long time family friends with important people.  But if there's not enough power it doesn't matter.

Can you give a more general idea of what you're doing with this? Is it just for sound or are you drawing outside air?

I'd second DHL to the Great White North!  BiteMe sent a replacement RMA'd unit via FedEx and it sat in an office for a month... Shocked

How much do you pay at delivery?

Well I got two. Too bad BCH took such a spill lately or it would've been 3.

Since the cable has already been swapped I'm going to guess the PSU is shorting to ground somewhere.  Is the PSU getting hot?

Water cooling is an excellent way to harvest the heat. You guys are laughing at this meanwhile it's -30 here tonight and I could heat my house with maybe 10-12 s9s. Then just dump the excess heat outside with a PID controlled fan/rad.

The cost you say? Tell that to people around here who have spent $40,000 on geothermal.

But there's no real use in an industrial setting unless you have an actual need for the heat.

116  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Setting up small mining op VPN question... on: December 30, 2017, 12:15:17 AM
They can be difficult to set up. I did it with a DDWRT flashed router. I would suggest openvpn. Also talk to your cell provider some do not support VPN connections or charge extra.
117  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Setting up Network when Mining with 20+ Devices on: December 19, 2017, 03:53:23 AM
If you're going to do a VPN make sure the LAN ip pool is very far from standard or you may run into ip address conflicts.

Personally I would do a firewall rule (iptables) that discards everything to and from the miners and logs it. Except for the ip address of the pool.

Bandwidth isn't that much at all. Make sure your wiring is up to snuff.
118  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Setting up Network when Mining with 20+ Devices on: December 19, 2017, 01:16:00 AM
Good topic not enough of this.

I've played around a lot with DDWRT and would never run a router without it.  That being said it isn't for noobs. The absolute best setup is a manually configured firewall that only allows the miners to communicate to whatever pool you have assigned. Bitmain is rumored to have a backdoor and I wouldn't want anyone else being able to get in there.

You can even take this further by having only local access to the miners only through a vpn. That way the miner network is completely separate from any computers or printers attached to the LAN.  Then you can log in to your miner LAN from anywhere.

But we are getting a wee bit advanced.

Why is it whenever I search for PDUs the price is way higher than that?
