101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: February 28, 2018, 02:02:21 PM
It would be nice to pick a model and just order however many you want at msrp.  The whole x card is better than y card is somewhat meaningless in the current situation.  Many of us who recently got into this had to buy whatever we could find at the lowest price we could get.

My 6 gpu rig is a mutt.
(2) msi duke
(1) evga sc black
(1) msi gaming 11g
(1) msi gaming x 11g
(1) aorus extreme

The aorus and the msi gaming cards are the best of the lot.

I wish I had been able to "standardize" on one model.  It would make tweaking/tuning so much easier.  With different models it is a hassle.

Wow that sounds bad for long term holding.

Mine and trade short term it's no worse profitability wise than zcash. Plus lower power.

Thanks for the explanation. Even with the issues it's had LUX sounds like a better project than that sheesh. I do have four zcoin wonder if I should trade it off.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: February 25, 2018, 05:32:47 AM
Why is zcoin a dead end?  Is it a bad project?
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinTracking - Profit/Loss Portfolio and Tax Reporting for Digital Currencies on: February 22, 2018, 01:48:49 AM
I do very little trading and am mining.

I can download a CSV from here that contains all my payouts with the transaction ID, date, time, and amount:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/lux/

What I want to do is upload that CSV into cointracking and have it add the USD value of each payout then let me re-save the file.  This is for tax purposes.

Thanks.

Zergpool is most profitable when you are using profit switching.  Most everyone is using sniffdog or nemos and since the pool is smaller they chase the lower block difficulty through several algos and the pool converts to the coin of their choosing.  You end up making a ton more than you would just mining a single coin.
Well that may explain why hash constantly comes and goes there.  No sense in sticking it out in their phi pool.  The consistency or lack thereof is a problem in my particular situation.

Thanks for the explanation.

Not sure what the issue is with zergpool every time I join there is at least a few GH/s and then within a few hours everyone drops off but me.  Then I switch off to somewhere else.  Go back and check again several hours later and sometimes there are people there again other times no.  Every time I re-join I end up being the only one there after a couple hours.

People can't make up their minds on where they want to leave their hash.  lol

For a small miner with a small rig who just started this a month ago and only has a few dozen in the wallet.

The decision is a bummer.  Hurts us the most.

That makes sense and I do see your point.

I'm trying to minimize frequency of my payouts and the larger pools make that difficult.  I'd like to get paid no more often than twice a day max.  The smaller pools are good for this.

Seems like I'm stuck between small pools with very long block times.  Or dealing with 5-8 payments each day from the larger pools which I don't want either.

Thanks. I'm on Zerg basically mining solo right now with 230 MH/s. So looks like one block every five days average then.

You deserve to be paid well for your work.

IMO you would be better off changing your licensing scheme.  Charging individual licensing fees leaves you open to piracy.  It is also cost prohibitive for the small miner who would take a long time to recover your fee.

Consider releasing the miner to all however consider inserting built in fee which pays you when every person runs your software.  This is like the case for many other clients out there.  Doing this helps protect you better from piracy and allows all people to benefit from the client you produce instead of just large operations who can more easily justify the fee you are charging now.

I'm sure you've heard it before.  Just a suggestion.  Wink
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: February 19, 2018, 01:51:26 PM
After setting intensity to 22 I was able to get 40.08 MH/s out of this 1080ti hybrid.

+120% TDP
+110 core
-400 memory
59c GPU temp

ML120 fan at 2000RPM

phi algo

Is there a calculator to estimate how long it will take to find a block solo mining LUX?

Yah its not just you I'm mining lux and the graph is messed up.

Also pinpin if you're reading this there may be a release version of the lux wallet out tomorrow 2/19.  Supposed to fix some bugs and enable staking again.

This Metroid guy is quite the caricature.

Get a box fan or something to help dissipate the hot air
Interestingly I just read that running phi with an intensity of 22 helps cut temps down slightly.  It not only cut a degree off my temps but increased hash slightly as well.

Since my rig is a mutt with many different makes/models in play it is harder to tweak and get maximum output.  Requires a lot of time babysitting the client to make sure it doesn't go down after the last clock adjustment, etc..  This is part of the fun yes?  That said I wish I had all the same models just from a simplification point of view.

The aorus extreme is the best one I've used so far even though I can't seem to get it clocked much higher than the out of box speeds.  It runs cool, quiet, and is fairly quick.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Titan XP Testing so far just got it... LUKE I AM YOUR MINER on: February 18, 2018, 04:22:19 PM
I sent mine back.  The blower fans were just insane loud.  If I wasn't going to have to live with the rig in my general living space I might've kept them.  On water if you want to spend the extra I bet you'd be in great shape then.

Mine did well mining on phi algo with +100% TDP +175 core -400 memory.  80% fan
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: February 18, 2018, 05:03:31 AM
Yah I may not mine with these for three years however I'm not trying to destroy them either. I like to take good care of my equipment.

The msi Duke require fan at 80% otherwise they climb over 63c. Ambient 20-22c.  I don't wanna spin the fans harder.

In the summer I will have to pull tdp back for sure no way around it without constant air conditioning.

Whats the problem now?  phi algo is down on the pool everything disconnected and its not in the list.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: February 17, 2018, 04:39:14 PM
You did mind that your cards will reach their life end way earlier if you run them @100%?
Assume that is true for a moment (it may or may not be) that even if heat is kept in check 100% TDP will fry the card much sooner than otherwise.

While under warranty it is a non-issue.  Outside of the warranty period I would immediately scale TDP down to stretch out the remaining lifetime of the card.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: February 17, 2018, 04:06:12 PM
I'm trying to get the maximum hash possible which requires higher TDP while at the same time attempting to keep heat down.

If I have to roll back TDP because of heat then I will.  Partly why I'm fishing around for heat figures and what is deemed generally good values to shoot for.
