101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What would an "ethical premine" look like?? on: February 21, 2018, 04:34:11 PM
You will get bashed no matter the premine.
See as an example monerov and monero, these guys are bashed but are the first ones to come up with a privacy issue with Monero.

Premine size is all about planning for the future, what is your project is solving.
A great example for this is Dash, which at least got the funds to establish a great network, develop, and market a good coin.

PS, thank you for the service Smiley

Hi guys.

Does anyone know at what block the snapshot will be?

thanks

It says on the ANN page it is block 1529810.
Massive fud going around that popcorn comment was on point  Grin

Hey guys... I'm a passionate supporter of Sumo (xmr fork as well).

Prepare for some heavy fud from xmr. You will get it...

Yes, it sure does looks like monero guys are sending heaps of new accounts everywhere.
I wonder if this is actually like shooting themselves in the leg, or worthwhile.  Huh
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MONEROV (hard fork Monero) on: February 19, 2018, 05:32:03 PM
Which news, guys? I saw in reddit no more info than on bct. But blockchain explorer for MoneroV released already. If so we can see real competitor for XMR

- They've put out an ANN thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2947912.0
- Released blockchain explorer
- Official Monero team are talking about them exposing a big privacy flaw in monero
- All the talk is that at last a legitimate fork for xmr is happening.

This all builds up to pretty much a big event.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero to MoneroV switch? Longevity? on: February 19, 2018, 04:29:34 PM
I believe both are here to stay.

XMR obviously has a great community behind it, but also major flaws and centrelazation/scale issues.
It's going to play out somewhat similar to BTC and BCH imo.

More I'm seeing the Monero community so defensive and childish, the more I'm bullish on XMV and think this is going to be huge.
I'll be waiting for the open-source wallet before extracting them though, definitely a long-term hold.

106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: February 19, 2018, 04:19:47 PM
worth read

MoneroV: A Trap Laid for Monero Users?

https://monetse.com/bitcoinschannel/monerov-a-trap-laid-for-monero-users-

...

How Does the Attack Work?...........

tbh, this read just made me more in favour of xmv. It appears as a one-sided smear.
And actually what they were quoted by are excellent responses.

I'd be very happy to see the full response of monerov's team if Jaimy would release it.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XMV] MoneroV - Fork 1:10 of Monero - Finite coin supply - Private on: February 19, 2018, 03:50:39 PM
I'm actually LOVING the article if you read it through.
Yes, sure it is one-sided and all, and obviously was lacking the full response from xmv's team, but if you read through the interesting parts -

We believe Monero’s infinite coin supply was a mistake and is a tax in the form of inflation for all XMR holders.
This is a fundamental flaw that MoneroV fixes by putting a cap on the total MoneroV coins that can be created.

AND

we are also glad that we had contributed to the future privacy of both coins by helping to reveal an unknown flaw that researchers and cryptographers in the community had missed for years.

Both lead to the conclusion that the MoneroV team know what they are doing and the Monero guys are being over-defensive about this.
Once this forks happen and hit the exchanges, it will be huge.

I'd be thrilled to see the complete response given to Jamie Holmes who published this.
108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Monero network is planned for a hard-core. on: February 19, 2018, 03:37:49 PM
By all means, this is an exciting fork coming our way.
Seeing Monero's panicky reaction says it all, as they dismissed all other forks.

I guess time will tell but I'm looking forward to the 14th.

ps. this is a bitcoin discussion forum, why here?
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SUMO] SUMOKOIN - 🔏 Digital Cash For Highly-Confidential Transactions 🔏 on: February 19, 2018, 03:31:04 PM
MoneroV seems to be a  surprising and necessary fork after all.
How did the Monero entire community and dev team haven't seen this flaw the whole time?

The article is somewhat one-sided, but the parts and quotes from their team are reasonable.
As time passes, I support these guys more and more.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XMV] MoneroV - Fork 1:10 of Monero - Finite coin supply - Private on: February 15, 2018, 03:25:47 PM
Wrote an article regarding the airdrop and the risks of it hurting the main chain's anonymity: link

Seems like the issues were not taken care of as the original distribution plan was kept.

I read this and it is somewhat one-sided.
What about the issues raised by xmv being a good thing, exposing a basic flaw with monero?

To make sure that your XMR and keys can't be compromised in any way you should do the following:

- Create a new wallet especially for the fork and move your XMR to this wallet.
- ‎after the snapshot move your XMR back to the original wallet
- ‎You can then use your newly created wallet, that holds no XMR anymore after the snapshot, to claim your MoneroV

You should do it that way with every fork.

This is sound advice and exactly what i'm going to do with mine.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MONEROV (hard fork Monero) on: February 15, 2018, 03:24:30 PM
guys lets all remember that forking is the only way to revise/update/upgrade the existing code inside a blockchain. This monero hardfork is a good sign that this crypto is evolving and will continue in the future. moneroV is the new version of monero and i am happy for that.

They have went out with the ann thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2947912.0
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XMV] MoneroV - Fork 1:10 of Monero - Finite coin supply - Private on: February 14, 2018, 04:46:18 PM
Been following the hype since the last thread here on bitcointalk Smiley

The PDF was a good read.
The new coin being finite is a great feature I root for, being like bitcoin, gold and any real currency.

Only thing I'm not sure about the over-ambitious plans planned to 2019, but who knows  Roll Eyes
113  Other / Off-topic / Re: What wallets do you use? on: February 14, 2018, 09:35:22 AM
Which one suits you the most?
I use in electrum.
It is a very convenient wallet and very easy, in addition it is one of the safest wallet there is.
114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not invest in bitcoin if you don't know anything about it on: February 14, 2018, 09:29:39 AM

Bitcoin is a global craze. Even farmers, students, the older, housewives ... who are don’t know what is blockchain also buy bitcoin. Because there are so many new investors investing in it in the hope of making a big profit. But actually that is not investing that is gambling.  Roll Eyes
I do not prevent you investing to make money but invest wisely. Especially do not put all the property into bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Hope people do not blindly participate in this gamble. Grin
I agree.
people who don't understand in bitcoin should not invest in it. they just put money because it is a trend now and if the price fall a little bit they start to panic and lose money. people that don't built to this instability of prices should not invest in bitcoin.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MONEROV (hard fork Monero) on: February 09, 2018, 08:40:58 PM
I find it unnecessary and absurd, monero does not need such a thing, I think the developers need the money

I think the opposite. They are proposing big changes including the POW, max coin supply and mitigating botnet / hack mining (did not say how yet). These are al things people in the Monero community are aware of.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MONEROV (hard fork Monero) on: February 09, 2018, 06:23:12 PM
Febo, seems like you are hating the wrong project here. Went through their stuff, it's legit.
No way someone will do take the most difficult way, warn everybody about building the source, releasing actual Monero blockchain code (they released a block explorer yesterday) just to airdrop a coin that will most likely have less buzz then a different marketed project.

tbh I'm thrilled for this 100%
117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm taking a break on: February 06, 2018, 09:41:25 AM
This is all the same exactly like in the stock market. The masses take you approach, others invest when it's low. Wink

118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: SCAM XMRG on: February 06, 2018, 09:38:04 AM
This thing can be my consideration, I was interested in monerov XMV. You can see it here https://monerov.org/
I doubt if xmv is feasible? I'm afraid his fate will be similar to xmrg.

About that,
Its be like bitcoincash
Just hard fork
U will get free if u have monero
But i think it's not good time for buying altcoins
Maybe u must waiting after 6 February.

Hey you mention it's not a good time to buy altcoins, but can you but the new Monerov before the airdrop anywhere?
I think it is not possible unless dev team sell tokens, is this right?
119  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is Bitcoin falling? on: February 05, 2018, 06:16:48 PM
Because you cannot expect something to rise 50% month after month for a lifetime.
The quicker any 'bubble' rises, so it crashes. Give it some time and it will be straight back up there.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MONEROV (hard fork Monero) on: February 05, 2018, 05:59:51 PM
This sounds like an interesting twist on Monero, which I do like and didnt think it was infinite.
Still, maybe it's a good privacy coin and better be finite, but what about it being bloated and un-scalable?

if the supply is infinite then there may be problems with a value. is it reliable at all?

From a quick read, the new fork will be finite, not the opposite.
