Thanks Lucky Cris. Would you or anyone else happen to know what the other file is?

A couple of coins had it listed in the protocol.cpp file. But I was told they can technically be in any... I guess it depends on which coin is cloned? But it seems the Darkcoin clones uses prototocol.cpp.
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain - LAUNCHED! on: August 18, 2014, 10:30:56 PM
Guys, give it to the devs.. This shit is not easy to fix. Especially with people screaming the word 'refund' and 'scam' all over the place. Imagine if you created a coin and you were so sure that it was gonna be a smooth launch. But one piece of code interacted poorly with another piece and before you knew it, the blockchain had forked. Would you shit yourslef, run off with the cash and laugh? Or would you stick around for THREE FUCKING DAYS and work non-stop to fix the issue. All the while being abused by people who had bought your product and who desperately want to ruin any hope of it working for you in the future from spreading lies and dis-information.

Point is. Shut the hell up until everything is sorted.

Ha! You must think you're addressing a reasonable crowd.
103  Other / Off-topic / Re: Karma is real - explained on: August 18, 2014, 09:13:56 PM
I don't believe in karma anymore Dank.

I've been waiting since forever to get my reward for the many good deeds I do. As far as I'm concerned, karma is a sham... Just like that 'give and you shall receive' crap. What - am I supposed to always be the giver; that's not fair.

Maybe if you stopped waiting for it and lost your expectations, it would catch up to you.  Karma is about helping people unconditionally, not with the intentions of getting something back.

Many people reap their karma years down the road.

Besides, it seems that your goal in life is the looking. If you received other good things, you wouldn't find as much gratification in your goal of looking for them. So you won't receive these other good things, just so that you can continue to receive your goal, which is to constantly look for them.

Smiley

@Dank - I never had expectations. Hell, it wasn't until I actually needed help from people I've helped all my adult life that I came to this realization (just recently). And I gave unconditionally - for many years- never expecting anything in return. I don't help the needy expecting the fruit in my basket to multiply. But am I expected to continue to be a fool for the sake of good works? Not.

@BADecker - I like your philosophy, but can't say it applies to me. I do good deeds because that's who I am; the same reason I don't do the bad shit either. I've had opportunities to cheat, steal, lie... But I choose not to. Not because of karma, but because I'd be reminded of the type of person I would be with every dollar I spent. Maybe that's called having a conscious. No matter, but I see people prosper everyday with that mindset, but because I choose to be 'honest' in my affairs I lose lose out.

It seems the only people who are rewarded are the ones on the receiving end. Karma is just a idea created in an attempt to influence people toward a certain behavior - that's all.

Damn. Can someone start a new thread for the drama? It would be nice if we can reserve this one for updates and other constructive posts.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Congratulations Scammers, you've killed the altcoin market on: August 18, 2014, 05:54:19 PM
I, for one... Have grown to be extremely cautious of the altcoin market because of all the scam/shit coins. Literally, the market is saturated with them. This makes it challenging to have confidence in even the coins that appear to be above the rest.
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: P2Pool Detailed Settings for Altcoins on: August 18, 2014, 05:41:11 PM
OP, just wanted to point out that some of these coins put the pchmeassagestart hex value in another file; so if it's not in the main.cpp it could be in another. I don't know if it has any significance, but figure I'd at least advise so you can update the OP
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain - LAUNCHED! on: August 18, 2014, 03:18:49 PM
Another update to the wallet? When can we expect this?

This seems to be the best chain at the moment. We will coordinate with exchanges to verify and force everyone on to the best chain.

Confirm minimum 12 hours right? Won't happen anytime soon right? I don't want to wake up broke

Yes, the fork will happen in 12hrs but the code for the update will be available sooner.

Having issues compiling wallet for linux... I'm getting an error: db_xxx.h: No such file or directory

Anybody know how to fix?

sudo apt-get install libdb4.8++-dev

OR IF THAT DOESN'T WORK:

sudo apt-get install libdb5.*++-dev

Thanks - I just realized I never installed the dependencies to compile wallets on my 2nd miner - doh!

Can someone please provide a quick run down of what's going on? 30+ pages in less than a day is unreal

Launch had problems.
Wallet sync problems and seems like possibly fork - Don't send coins at the moment just in case.
Cry babies whining about devs who need to sleep.
Devs working hard to fix things now.
Moolah not released any of the IPO funds (They did release 250 BTC but its been returned by the devs to Moolah apparently which imo shows they are serious).

Stay tuned, but 90% of the posts are whining twats trying to instil FUD.

lol, I figured as much

My only contact with Vitalik Buterin was after I read a glowing article he penned last year on Kennilworth Exploration, a bitcoin security at the time listed on BitFunder:
http://bitcoinmagazine.com/5316/kenilworth-exploration-bitcoin-crowd-investing-meets-real-world-mining/.

I alerted him to some inaccuracies in the story, and the strong probability that it was a scam.

He replied that he had done all the necessary DD and was assured it was a bone fide operation, and was confident in his article, and in the company. [incidentally the first response to my warning came from Elizabeth Ploshay, then Customer Service Manager for Bitcoin Magazine, now on the Bitcoin Foundation; I hope there's no other link here]

As it transpires, Kennilworth has turned out to be a scam and investors lost all their money.  (Kennilworth thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=222746.0.)

Ditto.

BTCThe syscoinSetup.exe is malicious! Does anyone else have this message?

HA! NO SOURCE LISTED = all y'all mining this coin - it's prolly too late.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain - LAUNCHED! on: August 17, 2014, 06:02:37 AM
Hi,

Have I missed something somewhere?

You have developed using Linux, yet no Linux wallet or source?

Started mining before I realised this.

What are you talking about... I haven't hit the ANN yet, but I'm sure when I get there the github link will be there. No one launches a coin without the source code being available... do they?
118  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Trojan Wallet stealer be careful on: August 17, 2014, 01:12:59 AM
Is the trojan only for Windows or need the rest of us be scared too? Embarrassed
In my opinion Ubuntu is safe for everything. Nothing to be afraid of while using Ubuntu.
Kindly,

Who the hell told you this? Stop spreading shit that isn't true.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Miley Cyrus Coin [MCC] 0% Pre-mine No IPO Only 1.2 Million Coins on: August 17, 2014, 01:08:48 AM
Why is the http://gc-pool.ddns.net/miley/public/ pool have more Pool Hash than the Network Hash? Is this an error? If it's not an error, is MCC going to have a 51% attack? Or in this case, a 100% attack? Not sure on the finer points of the attacks, but yeah... I know it's good to separate hashing power, at least.

the fact that it's on a pool makes it safer than if it's a single individual. The pool itself would have to attack the coin, and if that's the case it'll show up in the block explorer.

This early in the game, with no block explorer, and no exchanges, it isn't that big of a problem, but once it does hit exchanges you're absolutely right we need to spread that hash out, because then there'll actually be some value to the coin and an incentive to actually attempt something like that.

Evidently you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

Fork!!!! LOL

Oh shit!

Spoetnik - I see red under your name now LOL

Evidently instacash don't know what the hell is forum is. I don't think people should just be able to give you a neg rating because they didn't like something you said. Maybe people should review instacash's post history and pick out some shit they don't like and give him some neg trust - that'll teach his ass a lesson. Maybe.
