101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin not tulip mania? on: December 06, 2013, 09:07:42 AM
its funny how many people are refering to tulipmania when talking about bitcoins, bitcoins are revolutionary, its necessary and will help people to be a little more free, i dont think tulip have anything to do with this. If im wrong it would be a good story to talk about once i will be very old. Smiley

104  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks should embrace bitcoin on: December 06, 2013, 12:34:16 AM
anything that is decentralized is going against the banking systhem, wich i think is one of the advantage of the BTC.

If you look at how banking system works , they will not embrace the BTC any soon IMHO.

106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it worth mining anything with a common desktop computer at this point? on: December 06, 2013, 12:16:52 AM
heres my set up i got  an intel(R) core(TM)  i-3-2120 CPU@ 3.30 GHz  also i have a regular fan for my CPU, will it over heat? will i be able to mine XPM ?

Thx for your help!

BTW  Im running on windows x64

You may already know this but the graphics card is an important factor. You will want an AMD card and you will need to learn about thread concurancy, certain coins require more ram than others, etc. Its not just as simplet as installing a software and making money. I would not bother with anything other than a system that can produce. Here is an example of what sort of card you will need: https://products.butterflylabs.com/600-gh-bitcoin-mining-card.html

It will be a great learning experience though, and I say go for it. I'm on the same boat as you and am looking into running a couple AMD graphics cards off my spare pc just to learn about it. I'm not expecting a profit though. I'm more expecting a high electric bill.

No i heard that the graphic card is not importnt to mine primecoins they use the CPU.

109  Economy / Marketplace / Re: What can I buy with .001 BTC on: December 05, 2013, 11:31:56 PM
for sure save it, if you buy something, you get something worth about a dollar, if you save it could be worth a lot. Worst that would happen is you didn't get some just for a dollar.

how much you think the BTC will rise to? 1 M each? i mean to buy a house with 0.001 BTC it must be at least 1M i guess  Grin

111  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Investing in BTC or LTC? on: December 05, 2013, 10:00:14 PM
LTC is too speculative for me to put much in for the long term. I have enjoyed swing trading LTC/BTC recently, though.

Well i think the BTCat 1st was very speculative and still is, when people will accept more and more LTC you might be kicking yourself, like the guy who bought 2 pizzas for 10 000 BTC 2 years ago? Smiley Seriously i dont think you can say to not invest in LTC because its too speculative at the moment if you do invest in BTC. just my 2 cents
112  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which coin I should mine with just an old laptop? on: December 05, 2013, 09:54:00 PM
Hey guys,

I just want to mine some Coins with the Laptop I have here. 3 years old, wasn't really high priced in this time though, so not really a good one.
But i want to mine some Coins, and my question is which Coin is the best to mine with this setup?

It should be traded against BTC on a exchange like bter.com

Best Regards and thanks in advance

115  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Investing in BTC or LTC? on: December 05, 2013, 09:31:25 PM
I can't believe that I didn't invest in BTC when the price was around $200 and I keep dreaming 'what if' I had invested at the beginning when they were pretty much free!

Do you think investing in BTC now would be a bad idea? Will the price of BTC keep on rising? or do you think it will crash back down to square one sooner rather than later?

Also, thoughts about investing in LTC now?

Any investment may be great and may be awful, no one can predict the future. All I can say is: buy when it's low, sell when it's high. Observe rate changes and good luck!

thats true but thats not what OP wants to know i believe, his question is more wich is the best risk to take at the moment?
I'm far from being an expert but at the moment i think both seems to have a bright future, some say 1 BTC could worth 10k in 2014, this sounds crazy but i think its possible if we refer to what hapened previously, as for the LCT i dont know might be up to 100$ this year. maybe 1k in 2014?

118  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is a money or currency? on: December 05, 2013, 09:10:23 PM
Correct me if im wrong but from what ive seen BTC is much more than a currency or a payment systhem, its  revolutionary and from what i could see its a kind of culture to give the power back to the people and be much more independant. I thinkthis is an awesome step at this point of humanity, people were losing control over bankers gouvernement and people above, if this is a key to get the powerback then its awesome!  Grin
119  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcoin wallet and safety on: December 05, 2013, 09:04:05 PM
Hi there i have a question, i opened my wallet yesterday and i used blockchain, is that the best wallet and the safest one?
I was also wondering if you need your computer to be 100% safe, is that someting that would slow down the BTC value progression since people might be scared to get hacked ?
