Do we have job description?

Quality Troll Wanted! Cheesy

Here's my resume: Its me! Its my presence in this forum.

I am a quality troll too, not just an average "oops spilt some haterade on you" troll.

I believe in ripping down imperfection without offering an alternative solution, all in an irritating passive-aggressive manner.

Here's a sample:

"Wow, I can't believe NXT is still around. It had some potential, shame about that 100% premine though."

Do I get the job??

Grammar and spelling are quite good. Also, you move logically from one point to the next.

I'm sorry, but this is not the kind of behavior we expect from our trolls.

@dandruff1138
Take a look at this file: .../nxt/nxt_db/nxt.h2.db
What size is it? If the db is actually being populated, it should be several hundred mb. Mine is 416 mb.

If my calculations are correct he has around 500,000 USD, if it were me, I would cash out and put half in a IRA or something safer, and blow the rest.

I don't think your calculations are correct. Off by about two factors.
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: July 18, 2014, 08:09:13 AM
This is all so confusing. Why are people still sendig their btc here? I mean come on, these salaries do seem to be quite outrageous, and altough they may be nice, why would you be spending money on parties? I would prefer to see most funding going towards the actual project.

Well,  listened to a few podcasts on Swarm and also listened to some interviews from the guys their. They seem genuine.
I worked in IT before and if you are good you get paid. I do think they need to control their salaries however, you are right there.

The problem I have thus far is what a few others mentioned - The Counterparty interface for the orderbook is not easy to use. It is not intuitive.
I really think the guys there need to work on the interface. But, swarm is not Counterparty, different fish.
I am curious what Swarm will come up with regarding the actual crowdfunding platform. Is there anything we can see?

The Counterparty devs have heard the frustration about the GUI and they are responding. See here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=395761.msg7902979#msg7902979

Development update

* BTER-like Dex interface is undergoing final testing.

* The nasty CLOSE_WAIT bug I think I've found the fix to, that has been causing stability issues on Counterwallet. Undergoing final testing tonight to ensure that is the case, and will deploy tomorrow if so.

* Also... get ready... for offline Armory support in Counterwallet! Add an address in an offline armory wallet (https://bitcoinarmory.com/about/using-our-wallet/) to your Counterwallet, and do something (like send some XCP from that address), which will produce the armory unsigned transaction text. Copy it to a USB key, take it to your offline computer running armory (which has the private keys), sign it on that computer via the armory GUI, and then broadcast the signed transaction back in Counterwallet.

This will make use of assets owned in this address very secure...basically cold storage of Counterparty assets, with almost the usability of a hot wallet. Personally very excited about this... I know I'll be using it. Smiley

This is really big stuff! Great work!

ok. If anyone didn't notice the last press release, then this one was more about Txt Coins now, but also about the whole cooperation with Nxt, Maxcoin, Startcoin and Txtcoin: http://www.coinssource.com/nxt-txtcoins-and-the-global-mobile-virtual-network-operator-mvno/ - it was already retweeted to cca 250,000 people

Oh, I noticed, but thank you for re-posting. Other people noticed, too, and there was a lot of action on the TXTCoinNow asset.

I looked at the project on StartJoin and didn't see very much investment activity. And I admit, I didn't quite understand what this investment actually is. Can someone shed some light on this project, and explain why an investor might want to throw a few btc at it?

Hello, Mr Frac. Err, Mr. Tastical? Looks like the counter on http://swarmcorp.com/ is stuck on 35.89%. It's been there for a whole day, I think.

I really don't understand why you wrote this here, this thread not about XBet.IO.

The XCP community has a great interest in the feed sites and developers that build applications on top of the counterparty protocol and give it value so our post has great relevance to this thread as well.

We aim to keep our users informed of major events related to our application and want to address them where they are instead of expecting them to go through our thread for updates. As you may have noticed, we do not tend to flood the XCP thread with unnecessary posts. We only write when there is new information that is relevant to the XCP community, like in this case.

Exactly.
Please keep updating us on this thread.
Thank you.

Announcement: Peter Todd has begun his security audit on the Counterparty protocol and reference client.

Hey, this is a big deal.  Shocked

@fractastical, With a "NO" vote, I assume your team will be developing the software even while you continue fundraising, no?

Not really, fundraising is very time intensive and with a NO vote I will probably spend most of the time up until the 20th on marketing/fundraising/PR. If we get a YES vote I will spend the next week just developing the product, hopefully with a working prototype by the 10th of July.

I'm actually quite tired of fundraising so I hope people vote YES.

I think I will vote "YES" unless I can be convinced otherwise.

I want to see a product, and I am, honestly, less concerned with shares that are out there in the ether than I am with having a viable product that will bring in new potential investors/users. I appreciate the importance of taking care of initial investors, but this is not even an alpha product. So far Swarm does not even have a whitepaper. So what, exactly, are we investing in? At this point, this project is susceptible to the "vaporware" insult that is thrown at it.

To put it another way: When I worked in a pool hall in North Carolina, the guys would sit around and talk about how good they were and who could beat who, etc. It was a lot of fun, but with a serious undertone. At some point, one of the guys would lose patience and say to one of the jaw-boners, "Do it, then talk about it." And either the other guy would have to put up his money and play, or shut the hell up. So let's do it, then talk about it.

Or convince me otherwise.

Hello, smaragda. I know you've had some thoughtful exchanges on here about the vote and funding. Can you explain why you voted "NO"?

Sure...  I voted NO because the initial plan is straight-forward in regard to what happens with the unsold SWARM...  the devs have two fundraising phases with an announced cap...  if the cap isn't reached...  remaining SWARM get distributed to the holders.

Locking the coins away without specifically stating what will happen to those coins if a second fundraising phase never takes place is unacceptable IMHO.

I agree with smaragda.

Plus, what if 4500 BTC is never reached....

Ok, I'm more inclined now to vote "NO" myself.

Voted NO.

Hello, smaragda. I know you've had some thoughtful exchanges on here about the vote and funding. Can you explain why you voted "NO"?

I am inclined to vote "YES," for three reasons.

1. They are only at 32% of their Round 1 fundraising goal, and to push it to 100% for this round will take some work. I just don't think there will be much investor capital lying around after that for Swarm to go after, so Round 2 could involve a lot of work with very little payoff.

2. Building a product with Round 1 funds will do a lot for investor confidence, and even if the product is quite streamlined, it will enable people to begin using the system. This by itself will drive subsequent investment, and make Round 2 fundraising much easier.

3. Bitcoin price looks to be on the upswing, potentially to new all time highs (at least according to a lot of fundamental and technical analysts). The 4500 btc (Round 1 target) may soon be worth quite a bit more than the 2.8 million$ - its current value.

I would like to hear your thoughts on these points, and any others that bear on this vote.

Anyone else, please feel free to comment as well.

I had a ~121 gold tickets. Sent an amount between 0.00000001 and 0.99999999 to the goldticket address... then watched it become 30 goldticket? is this counterparty bugging out on me or is this supposed to happen (i noticed the goldticket is "callable")

This is a known bug in Counterwallet's balance display (reported earlier today). The problem isn't with Counterparty: your funds are safe. We're looking into fixing the problem right now.

Thanks. That's good to know. I lost more than half of the GOLDTICKETs I had prior to the send.

Dang! Looks like you got it fixed already. You guys are awesome!

Some hostile Comments in the Economist. Seems that people are quick to disparage whatever does not fit in with the given paradigm. Well, economists are not known for their fertile imaginations.
