101  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: PCI Express risers? on: December 23, 2013, 02:24:02 AM
Good advice, thanks. I guess the next step would be to power then externally as many have done. First of all I would need 1 or 2 additional PCI Express 3 "extension" cables (is any such animal available?) running from wherever the GPU's are housed (male one end, female the other) going to the additional 2 slots on the mobo (there are 3). My power supply (600w) only has 2 connectors for the GPU's, so even if I did re-do one of the other cables coming from it to power a third (and external) GPU, I wonder if the total amp/watt rating would be enough to handle 3 of them. I could get another PS to power the external GPU's as well.
102  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASICminer blade v2 fuse replacements? HELP! on: December 23, 2013, 02:08:00 AM
You should be able to get those black fuseholders from Radio Shack and solder one in parallel to the old fuseholder if all else fails, and those glass fuses are readily available. I'd choose one rated at lower voltage (not the 240v ones) and also slow-blow 10 amp (those usually have a coil inside instead of just a wire). I have a box full of the fuseholders like that, I'd sell them for 50 cents each. plus postage, even include a fuse if I have any that are the right value.

I submitted order #1068 made on December 13, 2013. Order status: on-hold. I guess you cannot (could not) take my credit card payment, so no funds were sent. This was for an 80 Ghs. I left both a phone message and email about how to get the funds to you, but never heard back. I'd like to get one ASAP and can come down in person with cash on pickup, as I'm in PA but 2 1/2 hrs away. If you can take a credit card cash-advance check that would work too, just give me the proper address and a fairly firm date of when I can pick up (2 weeks?).
104  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: Advanced Mining technology (AMT) on: December 20, 2013, 05:29:38 AM
Not being too confident in these guys so far, I went ahead and found a 33 GHs block erupter cube on the net (in-hand with 3-day shipping) for under $1000. At least that will get me started and pay for itself (at the difficulty now) in around 2 1/2 months. AMT never phoned me back or responded to my email, plus in any case I'd be looking at a good month to get one (an 80, 128 or 192). I still give them a vote of confidence, but won't be sending any money until there's some definite "customer relations". But they do seem to have the best prices, so let's wait and see if they get their act together.

I may be willing if the price is right, but just for .1 - .2 BC (low funds but trying to get into them)
108  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: MiningHardware.co.uk - WORLD WIDE SHIPPING on: December 19, 2013, 10:56:12 PM
If not by Bitcoins, could the payment be possible by using ACH or XE from the US to the UK?
109  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: PCI Express risers? on: December 19, 2013, 12:41:19 AM
Just a quick question, while I'm on this thread.. I'm building a new rig using an ASRock Z77 Extreme 3 mobo and a mid-tower with a Intel Core i3-3220 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 55W Dual-Core Desktop Processor and a 600 watt power supply for scrypt mining of Litecoins using a Radeon R9 280X GPU in Linux. Do you think a second card of the same type will be able to be added inside the case (physically fit side-by-side?) using the provided SATA3 slots and work/cool correctly?
110  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: Advanced Mining technology (AMT) on: December 18, 2013, 11:04:10 PM
True, my 3rd post was on this thread, but I found the thread after stumbling onto the AMT site and then Googling for "AMT reviews". And I read every single post in all the pages before ordering one. Since the owner has been involved here, I decided to order one. Still waiting for some sort of reply, but at least I haven't paid anything yet. I've been a computer hobbyist for decades, live in NE PA, so I'm about 2 1/2 hours from picking up one when and if I can pay and they get one ready for me. I got a bitcoin from bitcoin faucet around 2009-10, but never took it seriously, and lost the wallet. Lately seeing the prices rise I began to take it seriously again. I live on a low income so can't afford to really buy any outright, but if these rigs work, I can put one on a credit card. I've been bitcoin & litecoin mining for the past month just for fun, but only have a couple dollars worth. Also am building a new computer for $700 for litecoin (actually including a Radeon R9 280X), but that may take months for the ROI. AMT seems to have the best prices and take CC's so I'm hoping to hook up with a Bitcoin rig powerful enough to get a quick ROI. Butterfly is too expensive, don't take CC's, and the rigs on Ebay are overpriced and too obsolete with the new rises in difficulty. I've been a Linux aficionado since 2000, and have been playing with the mining software quite a bit lately. So anyway... am keeping an eye out here, hoping to see news they've ramped up their assembly line and start moving these things out and also writing/calling people back about their orders.  Embarrassed
111  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: Advanced Mining technology (AMT) on: December 18, 2013, 12:45:15 AM
I ordered the smallest one (80GHs) by credit card on 12/13, and have order number #1068, which is "on hold". I left them a message to please call and that I could pay over the phone plus come down there in person, but haven't heard back. From the above posts they seem to have been swamped with calls and pick a few at random. I don't want to wait until January until they can process more CC payments. I'd even come down there with cash in person if need be and consider a larger unit as well. I just hope I won't lose my place in line for the 3 or 4 week time frame.

113  Other / Beginners & Help / New poster, getting involved & have some info for starters on: December 14, 2013, 04:13:16 AM
Hello folks, I'm fairly new to bitcoin, even though I once did a test run as a miner back around 2010, but lost my wallet.dat
Recently, in the past month or so I've been mining using Bitminter and the java client, I have an Ubuntu box (32 bit running Saucy now) along with an ATI Radeon card (Juniper HD 5700). I had a heck of a time configuring the Catalyst driver under Ubuntu 12.04, but now that I upgraded to 13.10 it it seems to have automatically configured CL, once I added the fglrx driver. I also use the "Super Bitminter" site as a "plus", can anyone recommend any other external sites to add to do more minting concurrently outside having the app(s) themselves running on my system?
My box is actually a triple core (2.8 ? Athlon II X3 445) 64-bit, but since I had trouble previously with the AMD drivers, I decided on the 32-bit system as I don't use any memory hungry apps.
Since yesterday I switched to bfgminer (had a lot of trouble with getting cgminer going) but I think that was because I hosed my CL before upgrading to Ubuntu Saucy. Bgfminer was a snap (Graeme's the 'man') and it was actually in his repostory for Debian which was easy to add via adding his source to the list. Then just apt-get install it and the whole thing takes only about 10 minutes from A-Z.
But it just mines about 6 cents a day, so I've decided to order an external bitfury-type box. Hopefully 80 Gh/sec, as my rig here just does about 1/5 of a Gh/sec. This will just be for one rig, but I have 3 other boxes I could run using bgfminer, the only problem is that 2 have Nvidia video cards, so I'm not even sure it's worth the effort.
Two things I'm wondering now - and will try to look it up - how fast is the "difficulty" level rising and how long will many of these external units still be worth the cost after 3-6 months, etc.?
Also, will these raise any flags with my internet provider, or is the amount of data just in short reporting (back and forth) bursts rather than huge continual packets?
