If you're lending, then you don't hold your coins, so in the event of a fork, you will only get back one of the forked coin. It's normal, there is no way to do it differently, since the coins are lent to other users, not to Poloniex.

I wonder what's the reason for the "awaiting approval" some of you are getting, what is your level ?

I'm only Level 1, have provided my info more than a month ago to get to level 2, but it's still processing.

Nonetheless I can withdraw instantly, 2000$ worth of BTC each day for the last 5 days. I want to get everything out before the 31st July to ride the mess (and go to vacation) without worries.

I'm level 2, fully verified. This didn't use to happen a few months ago, withdrawals would be propagated to miners right after I confirmed them. And I only use Poloniex for very small BTC amounts, usually to convert some alt coin into BTC.

Fuck that shitty exchange. I requested a tiny withdrawal of 0.01 BTC and it's still in their "awaiting approval" state for over 8 hours already, meaning someone has to manually approve the request. Only after that the transaction will be broadcast. I opened a support ticket and it was summarily closed with an automated reply email saying that withdrawals may remain in that state for up to 24 hours - seriously???

WikiLeaks Exposes CIA Targeting Linux Users With OutlawCountry Network Traffic Re-Routing Tool

https://hothardware.com/news/wikileaks-exposes-cia-targeting-linux-users-with-outlawcountry-network-traffic-re-routing-tool

<< Another day, another government spying exploit rises to the surface courtesy of Wikileaks, this time originating from the CIA. This WikiLeaks data dump specifically lets us know of a CIA-engineered spying tool called OutlawCountry (no space), which, interestingly enough, explicitly targets Linux users. You know, those digital freedom loving passionate penguin peeps that appreciate having great control over their computer? But don't worry, the CIA has targeted Windows users en masse in the past as well; absolutely no one has proven safe and they obviously don't discriminate.

OutlawCountry starts out as a Linux kernel module (nf_table_6_64.ko) that gets loaded into the system and subsequently creates a new entry in the iptables firewall configuration. After the deed is done, the original kernel module is no longer needed, so it's deleted.

At this point, an attacker could run an iptables command to reroute all of the traffic through a designated CIA data mining server, allowing the agency to spy on user activities and communications. The biggest threat here isn't winding up with the attack on a home PC, but more so a web server that could have thousands or even millions of people routing through it. >>

Mining is not broken at all, I tested on 3 different systems we have earlier today and all mine DGB with a simple double click and away... if you have problems it's on your end, mining works fine if you check the number of miners set up at various DGB pools there's plenty that have it working. Wink

Mining on pools is fine. Try solo mining with GPU algos.

DGB was at the top of the list of most profitables for a long time before ever going sky high (temporarily supplanted from time to time by the likes of DASH when it moonshot and before miners got switched over, etc.). And that was before the 100 fold increase when holding for speculative reasons made more sense too. It's not so profitable anymore though. Too many miners now. Ironic.

I believe most miners who jumped on the DGB bubble bandwagon will turn their attention to other coins soon.

blah blah blah

I like the fact posted in big letters
If you had of made it Red it would have been perfect......

Sorry what was your post about again??? Wink

When people don't have anything meaninful or sensible to say, they usually resort to shouting like that. As with ALL coins, some miners will always keep selling and some will hold part or all of their coins, it all depends on their individual needs and objectives. DGB is still worth 40x more today than it was worth 2 months ago. But it's always amusing when someone with 13 posts comes here to try to school everybody... or maybe he's using an alt account because he didn't have the courage to post all that BS with his main account.

a lot of newcomer got into this at 2100satoshi, i really dont like the way we made profit if someone had to be eat each other

You shouldn't feel sorry for them. Anyone who had been supporting DGB before the price went up profited, and rightly so. Only those who never gave a damn about DGB and only got in because of the high price probably ended up losing money. It's the same thing as with every market. It has happened over and over again with hundreds of different coins, you can read stories like this all over these forums. And even those who bought at 2K, if they believe the coin has a future there's no reason to regret having done it, just hold them and wait for their investment to pay off.

@Razoo: I see where you're coming from, I'm really annoyed right now that I'm not able to solo mine with version 6.14.2 of the wallet, probably because of getwork being removed. This should be addressed ASAP.

Cheesy Lol. @The Irishman, what do you think caused the incredible dip/decrease in price of Digibyte? Is it just the overall relation to Bitcoin and the vitality there or is there another reason for it?

As with everything regarding oscillations on free markets, it would be naive of me to try to pinpoint a cause (or causes) in cases like this, especially for the absurdly fast price increase. All we can do is a pragmatic analysis of what happened: the coin's price massively increased from under 50 to over 2000 satoshi too fast, something which would inevitably end up leading to a comparably massive price correction and profit taking. Anyone who has followed bitcoin from the beginning saw that happen lots of times.

What people fail to notice is that, even with DGB at 500 satoshi (or even lower), that still means huge profits for everyone who was mining or holding the coin more than 3 months ago when the price went as low as 19 satoshi. Hell, if you had bought the coin at 19 satoshi, when it reached 190 you'd already have made a profit of 10x! The only people whining are the greedy ones who never supported DGB and only showed up here AFTER the price started rising so fast, hoping to make a quick buck. Real supporters and savvy, level-headed investors won't be bothered by bubbles or heavy oscillations happening within a couple weeks span.

Hi, I was wondering when the DigiByte Devs are going to solve the mining problem that causes too much auto sell by mining noobs?
It causes supply >>> demand.
Causing this continuing crash which upsets many investors.  Cry

Both your rationale and that "article" are pathetically stupid and lack the most basic notions of how markets work - be it crypto, stocks or whatever. What do you want, another bitcoin, centralized in the hands of a few giant ASIC mining farms? Do us all a favor and go to hell.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔ DigiSync v6.14.2 - DigiSpeed - Segwit -DiguSign on: June 21, 2017, 04:13:59 AM
cpuminer -a qubit --url=192.168.222.202:14022 -u user -p l147_CovTnVvV4P0W5p8qa1B5Gs88EDqMo5OI9Fmo8Y= --no-stratum --no-getwork --no-extranonce --coinbase-addr=D8i1mDnjqpXGwyCrFJT9qbSYuYtdoW7bJc

Well, sgminer doesn't have "no stratum" and "no getwork" parameters. Actually, turning stratum off seems to me like a bad idea, because even though the local server will be using long-polling, typically there will be other pools defined in sgminer.conf that are able to use stratum, which is useful because the local server will know faster that a new block has been discovered, in case any of the other pools detects it first.

Anyways, the local server should at least be seen as alive by the miner, even if the miner is unable to connect to it for whatever reason.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔ DigiSync v6.14.2 - DigiSpeed - Segwit -DiguSign on: June 20, 2017, 07:43:57 PM
Itīs maybe the algo thatīs the problem. You could test Solo Mining using Scrypt Algo with your GPU - or install Wallet 4.0.3 on another Computer and sync this Wallet using "addnode=ip adress of your 6.14.2" for a real fast sync and test this. One problem could be Segwit as the the old wallet dosnīt support Segwit.

Thanks for the input, hallo_frosch. I was using skein when I tried it, and it seems weird that the server wouldn't work with all algos, but it's worth a try anyways. Gonna test it when I have the time. I had to go back to 4.0.3 to solo mine, no issues with that version.

Updates on the issue of solo mining not working with the current wallet version (6.14.2)

I've run tests with all algos with no success. In all cases, the local server appears as dead for all miners. Now, this would normally indicate incorrect IP/port configurations, but I'm using the exact same digibyte.conf file I use with version 4.0.3 of the wallet, the only changes being rpcauth replacing rpcuser and rpcpassword. With version 4.0.3 everything works fine.

Looking at the debug.log file generated by the 6.14.2 qt running as a server, right at the start I found these lines which seem to indicate that something IS wrong somewhere:

2017-06-19 23:07:40 Binding RPC on address :: port 14022 failed.
2017-06-19 23:07:40 HTTP: creating work queue of depth 16
2017-06-19 23:07:40 No rpcpassword set - using random cookie authentication
2017-06-19 23:07:40 Generated RPC authentication cookie C:\Users\Pedro\AppData\Roaming\DigiByte\.cookie

For the sake of clarity, here are the relevant lines of my digibyte.conf file:

rpcauth=MYUSERNAME:SALTSTRING$HASHSTRING
rpcallowip=192.168.0.99
rpcport=14022
port=12024
txindex=1
listen=1
debug=0
maxconnections=15
algo=groestl
(plus the addnode lines)

If you've noticed the absence of a server=1 line, that's because I prefer running qt with -server as a parameter instead of including that line in digibye.conf, but I've tried both ways just to rule this out.

Again, solo mining with this same config (and the previous rpc authentication method) works perfectly with qt 4.0.3. Any suggestions are welcome.

EU seeks to outlaw backdoors in new data privacy proposals

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jun/19/eu-outlaw-backdoors-new-data-privacy-proposals-uk-government-encrypted-communications-whatsapp

<< The European Union is considering banning the implementation of so-called "backdoors" that allow the reading of encrypted messaging, a move that would place it in conflict with the UK government's desire to have access to all secure communications. The draft report by the European parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs says the data protection regulations have not kept pace with advances in technology and that amendments to the 2002 Regulation on Privacy and Electronic Communications (ePrivacy) are required.

Part of the amendments, proposed by the European Commission in January and now reviewed by the European parliament, look to deal with so-called over-the-top (OTT) services. The services replicate the functionality of traditional communications systems, such as landline telephones, but aren’t not regulated in the same way and so are not affording similar protections.
For example, the UK government has repeatedly called for ways to gain access to encrypted communications such as the end-to-end encryption (E2EE) used by Signal and WhatsApp, which prevents the interception of private messages.

The EU draft proposal categorically rules out such measures. It says: "The providers of electronic communications services shall ensure that there is sufficient protection in place against unauthorised access or alterations to the electronic communications data, and that the confidentiality and safety of the transmission are also guaranteed by the nature of the means of transmission used, or by state-of-the-art end-to-end encryption of the electronic communications data. Furthermore, when encryption of electronic communications data is used, decryption, reverse engineering or monitoring of such communications shall be prohibited." >>

When I click on the clear, concise and direct DigiByte communication channel link all I get is 'The address wasn’t understood'

That's a Telegram (messaging service) link. You need to install a Telegram client to access it: https://telegram.org.

Solo mining seems to be broken on the current qt and daemon. I've tried everything and I'm not exactly a newb at this. User ReSI tried to help another user HERE but it was useless. I've messaged Digibyte about this almost 2 weeks ago but got no reply yet. Use version 4.0.3 to solo mine.

Analyst Claims NVIDIA Has A Power Efficiency Edge Over AMD In Ethereum Mining But Not So Fast

https://hothardware.com/news/analyst-claims-nvidia-efficiency-edge-over-amd-in-ethereum

<< Mitch Steves, an RBC Capital analyst, recently pitted two mainstream GPUs against each other to see how they compare when it comes to cryptocurrency mining. Steves' testing involved the Pascal-based NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and AMD's newly released Radeon RX 580 to see how they performed with Bitcoin and Ethereum mining. His analysis determined that while the Radeon RX 580 offered just over a 3 percent performance advantage in mining Ethereum or Bitcoin and the estimated yearly dollars made via mining, the GeForce GTX 1070 actually resulted in much lower running costs due to a power efficiency advantage.

The analysis also mentions a 33 percent savings on power consumption for NVIDIA which then translates into lower daily and annual KW/h costs. When taking performance and running costs for electricity into account, the NVIDIA card came out slightly behind the AMD card in annual profit with Ethereum mining, but slightly ahead with Bitcoin mining.

The analysis doesn't take into account pricing for each card. GeForce GTX 1070 cards are running around $370 on Amazon, while the Radeon RX 580 retails for around $285 (if you can actually find one). That’s a pretty big disparity, which only grows if you start adding more GPUs to your mining rig. Throw thirteen RX 580 cards into your ASRock H110 Pro BTC+, and that's a savings of $1,105. >>
