101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why aren't there any altcoins that use the Bitcoin blockchain? on: March 28, 2015, 04:27:33 PM
The sheer size of the Bitcoin blockchain is one of its biggest problems. Any alt coin using its chain would require over 35GB of data downloading before its wallet could sync. There have been light Bitcoin wallets developed because few people want to download that much data, so you would need to develop a light wallet for the alt. Plus I doubt an alt would be popular if mining it required downloading the Bitcoin blockchain.
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dead coins ready to rebound? on: March 28, 2015, 04:20:01 PM
I would only classify a coin completely dead if its network has stopped running. The NXT clone called NAS coin's network completely stopped, then a group managed to get it running again. They are bringing it back to life.

It's still on Poloniex and Bter, but IMO if the network stops the coin's dead. Although it could be argued that a coin must be on no exchanges, have a network that's stopped, and no dev to be classified dead.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NAS :: Descendant of NXT 100% PoS|More Exchanges|WinNAS is ready! on: March 14, 2015, 02:52:17 PM
I think Poloniex problem should be solved somehow. They forced people to withdraw their NAS, and now will everything be lost? Maybe they can rollback, cancel withdrawals and use other blockchain, the one you use?
Also note that there is lot of NAS in dgex accounts. They don't trade NAS now, but it's kept in accounts, I can see NAS balance. All my NAS is on dgex and on the way from POLO to BTER. Both more than 100 million. If I get back all my NAS I'll donate 15 million.

If they're forcing people to withdraw their NAS then they must either be connected to a different fork or the API of public nodes.  Before asking them to switch to our fork we should probably find out if they're connected on another fork.  It's possible there's another small group of nodes out there that might be more active.

I tried to withdraw NAS from Poloniex yesterday and withdrawals were frozen for me.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FRESHCOIN PHASE 2/Freshcoin for 1$ in games/First game on Google Play on: March 14, 2015, 02:49:34 PM
Great for bter, be patient about deposit and withdraw freshcoins, it is not working yet.

Hungry dude is going online, waiting for process of putting it online! So it could take a while (from few hours to maybe a day)

Someone was complaining withdrawals for some Bter coins are still not working 100% perfectly yet.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [EXTERNAL] PromoPlugs .25 BTC Giveaway on: March 14, 2015, 02:16:23 PM
How do you pick the winner and prove you have not given the prize to yourself?
106  Economy / Speculation / Re: Coinbase and Circle "Bitcoin Insurance": how does it work? on: February 19, 2015, 11:19:44 AM
I'm sure the insurance doesn't cover user error or negligence.

.....

What if the insurance company claims Coinbase and Circle were negligent and refuse to pay if they are hacked? I personally know people whose insurance companies refused to pay for car accidents until taken to court over it. Most insurance comes with a massive list of get out clauses which the insurance companies can use to avoid paying out claims.
107  Economy / Speculation / Re: New auction for 50000 btc from US marshalls! on: February 19, 2015, 11:13:35 AM
Remember back in last summer, the Bitcoin raised up to 650$ after the auction, so, what about this time?

Actually, back then the Bitcoins were auctioned at a premium, compared to the market rate. That was the sole reason behind the Bitcoin rally then. Let's wait and watch what happens this time.

One man bought all the coins auctioned in the first auction and announced he was holding them all rather than selling. That's why we had a rally afterwards. There were many winners of lots in the second auction and I guess they dumped because there was crash after crash afterwards.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/download — Guldenwallet now available in the App Store on: February 08, 2015, 01:50:03 AM
Ok, so why is Avast finding the new 1.3.1 wallet to be a virus?  I have had zero problems downloading and running wallets.  Is this an Avast change or a change to the wallet code?

Try submitting the wallet file to Avast for analysis, then they might update their virus definitions to give the wallet a clean bill of health.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★★★ [CAIx] ★ First 100% PoS At Launch ★ PSP ★★★★ on: February 08, 2015, 01:47:11 AM
BitTrex haven't removed the market again.

But whoever bought the 32009.16 CAIx off me the other day, got impatient and dumped it all down to 250 SAT.

Bittrex now says it may be removed on February 13th and the volume's dangerously low today.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT] New Podcast - Mintcoin V1.14 Windows Wallet and Community Update on: January 26, 2015, 12:59:36 PM
I have .5 btc incoming tomorrow and another .5 btc incoming Friday. I was hoping to spend it in Mint. I hope I don't miss the 1 satoshi price. Is this coin dead btw? Am I crazy in thinking of investing in it? Should I stay away? Man I so wish it had a mobile staking wallet, this coin would be a beast with it.

there was 15+ btc in sells at 2 sat a few days ago on cryptsy but it's down to around 12 now Smiley I can't speak for anyone but I've been buying a million or 2 when I can... the devs have stuck around this long so I can't see them giving up any time soon

It's almost a year old now and the devs are not likely to give up on an established coin.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best antivirus software to protect your crypto on: January 26, 2015, 12:52:20 PM
You really need to use a decent firewall in addition to antivirus. Comodo firewall is good if you know how to configure it. For antivirus Avira or Avast are good.

www.cryptorush.in should be removed from the list of incakoin exchanges in the OP.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Opinions/thoughts wanted: A coin dev intentionally devaluing a coin? on: December 28, 2014, 12:58:54 AM
The dev probably realizes he cannot dump all the premine before people cotton on and is taking what he can get, when he can get it.
115  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 28, 2014, 12:47:58 AM

What's the price of the low point on that chart?
<250

When does the chart predict that will happen?
116  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chinese bears vs USA bulls, which one will win over? on: December 28, 2014, 12:32:12 AM

I'm sure loads of europeans trade on exchanges like bitstamp where the prices are in dollars. I doubt there are many exchanges where you can trade the euro against bitcoin besides the kraken (which also has a BTC/USD market).

there are countless exchanges in Euro and people from europe buy with euro cuz that's what they have. So the reality is: the demand from europe is less than tradevolume of course. So i think demand (fresh money) from all of european continent right now shouldn't be more than few hundred coins every day.

And that's a continent with half a billion inhabitants.

Chinese tradevolume is fake. Transaction and adress numbers are fake. All the numbers are faked to look good.
There is really no demand for this inflation-shitshow right now.

Bitcoins dilemma is: the people who could be dumb enough to buy it aren't intelligent enough to use it and the people intelligent enough to use it are not dumb enough to buy it.

So what we are left here with are:
-some early adopters promoters who need to sell to you (permabulls)
-some druglords, pedobears and scammers who use it for it provides some functional value for them
-some people who got caught in the last hype and bubble over its novelty and now wait to get out (that's me)

the only value bitcoin provides is pump and dump value for some whales

If that's what you think about bitcoin why don't you dump what you have for whatever you can get for it as quickly as possible?
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's Fork Bitcoin To Bitcoin-POS on: December 27, 2014, 11:58:09 PM
Someone is already working on a PoS coin based on similar ideals to the OP.

118  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chinese bears vs USA bulls, which one will win over? on: December 27, 2014, 11:49:05 PM
the west is insignificant in bitcoin trades. China controls the lions share of the trade of the token. So the muricans need to understand: they lost this game to the east (didn't hold, sold it all to china). Now live with it lovely delusional american obese white trash ...

CNY is where it's at

last 24h tradevolume:

CNY: 460k coins
USD: 33k coins
EURO: 1500 coins
RUR: 300 coins (insignificant russian market)

these numbers are what's normal trading action these days. China had 1300% more volume than the western exchanges. That's the norm now.
You americans think of yourself as way more important than what you actually are.

You also see from these numbers:

Whole of European continent doesn't even trade 50% of daily inflation of the coins (3600 new coins every day)
So since nobody is interested in the coins price keeps going down thanks to (not) brilliant fundamental idea of satoshi to give it big inflation.

But most of you don't even have half a brain
As a Chinese,I can only say that volume could be fake, why? Many traders dropped out while the volume keep going up? I'm not stupid.

I'm sure loads of europeans trade on exchanges like bitstamp where the prices are in dollars. I doubt there are many exchanges where you can trade the euro against bitcoin besides the kraken (which also has a BTC/USD market).
