101  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~3000 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more on: July 01, 2011, 07:59:50 AM
There seems to be a slight issue to get work after a new block is found. It takes server around ~5-10 seconds to send new work after a new block has been found. Sometimes it just shows up as idle worker and sometimes the miner disconnects and takes ~5-10 seconds to reconnect. I'm not sure what it is due to but it started happening recently (1-3 days ago).

dito

i switched pool untill this is solved...
because of 5-10 seconds of idling?  Roll Eyes

I would try higher voltage and core speed but I've not yet found a way to set anything higher than 900 MHz core speed in Linux.
works using catalyst 11.6. with 11.5 you'd have to flash the bios.
103  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: idea: a bitcoin mining "botnet"- more effective than GPU mining? on: June 30, 2011, 11:24:22 AM
This is nonsense. It's about efficiency - MHash/J. Of course you could mine with thousands of CPUs, but you would still pay more for the power than you'd ever get in BTC. A CPU isn't efficient enough for this task. Whether you mine with one or 5000 CPUs - the math doesn't change.

And: there's no such thing as "free electricity", someone's always paying the bills.

When will the old pool balances be paid?
109  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5850 How high? on: June 27, 2011, 01:13:48 PM
SDK 2.4 with phoenix and option -k phatk works also good,
my other machine is doing 359 Mhash with that.
i can confirm that!
110  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: 3% faster mining with phoenix+phatk for everyone on: June 27, 2011, 09:19:50 AM
359 -> 367 MH/s on 5850! Thank you very much (small donation will be sent this evening)!
111  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: June 26, 2011, 10:11:48 PM
do you have a fan in the airtunnel installed?
yes

those fan speeds are insanely high, i have a 5870 at 960/300 at 55% Fan and 69.5°C and 2x 6870 at 1000/300, 60% and 74°C running... don't even want to know how much noise your rig makes!
it's in my basement, so I don't care about noise. but yes, you would not want this rig in your office.

You have HAF-X closed and with the side-fan activated?
yes
112  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: June 26, 2011, 08:33:02 PM
It's 4x5850.

Top one runs 820/300, 90% Fan, 75°C
The others run 900/300. The two in the middle also 90% Fan, 74-75°C. The bottom one runs at 50% Fan, 67°C.

After some research, I think these temperatures should be low enough to not cause serious trouble in the long term.

Besides that: forget about CPU-mining...
115  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Flexible mining proxy on: June 22, 2011, 01:25:00 PM
Unfortunately, I get extreme stale rates (>10%) when using the proxy on my local mining-rig. But I'm behind a firewall - could it be that the Mining Proxy needs to be listening on port 80 from the "outside" to be able to receive LP-queries?
116  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more [~2200 gH/sec] on: June 20, 2011, 08:49:14 PM
I often get many stale shares after the beginning of a new round. For the first ~100 shares, stale rate is sometimes about 10%. This then decreases to about 3%. I watched this several times now, it doesn't happen all the time. But most stales seem to occur when a block was found and a new round starts.
just for the record: i changed WORKSIZE from 128 to 256, now stale rate is down to ~0.5% and I get about 10 MHash/s more per 5850. My setup is 4x5850 @ 900/300, phoenix 1.5 / phatk.
117  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more [~2200 gH/sec] on: June 20, 2011, 01:20:00 PM
Yes, but then it should be 1-2 stales, not sometimes 5-6 (during a few seconds) on a 350MHash-worker? Looks like long-polling isn't working right. could changing the queue-length help (phoenix 1.5)?

Could be several persons using the same wallet, too. But anyway...   Shocked
