Has anyone received their refund yet? I mean we had an hour to pay, They've had weeks.. An ETA would be nice @Bitmain

Refunds Huh what on earth for. Unless I missed something was Bitmain refunding for prices or something on offer for units ? or people just asking for refund of unit?

Yes, you definitely missed something. Since the miners were performing below the initially advertised hashrates, buyers were given the option for a 7.7% refund or 10% coupons. Coupons are issued but the refunds aren't yet.

Wow still no refunds nor word from bitmain.  I know they are a good company but their communication on this matter has been terrible.
102  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 27, 2014, 04:48:23 PM
Still no 7.7% refund  Angry anyone else got there's yet? Can someone from Bitmain please confirm that we will actually receive this today?

Nope still waiting
103  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 27, 2014, 01:39:33 AM

So any guesses as to why the huge flood of S3s on the market had little effect on network hashrate?
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NFO] Ethereum = Scam on: July 26, 2014, 08:07:33 PM
Ethereum might be the Next Big Thing in altcoins. Over 10,000,000 ETH sold during the first day, which equals to 5000 BTC.
People are crazy about this IPO, they're selling their jewellery and even cars to buy ETH!

Any proof they actually sold that much!?!

I have a problem. My "Authorized Distributor" has done the following.

I (stupidly) agreed to overpay on batch 1 S3 because I wanted a batch 1. They usually make money especially batch 1 where you have good clarity on what difficulty might be when they ship. I paid very early on July 1.

I received my confirmation emails. I re-checked my account after end of business later that day. So far everything was in order. Batch 1 S3 etc.

2 weeks about go by and I pop in to check my account to find out when my Batch 1 order will ship to discover it's a magical Batch 2. I have no idea when it was ordered, what point in the queue it was at or anything. At this point I have received 0 contact from distributor. Order was altered 25.5 hours after I placed it. I wish I had known I needed to babysit this order to keep things on track and at a price I could live with.

I notice in my account there is ask us a question. So I ask if they can fix my Batch 1 order to actually be a Batch 1. I really wasn't thinking that someone intentionally changed anything but that there was a clerical error.

24 hours pass still no contact from distributor.

I send a message to the person who has their email on my receipt (I dug it up just to ask again). I was not nice about it. Reply was received in 3 hours. Nothing too helpful just an offer for fair compensation. What is fair for bumping me into a cheaper batch, failing to ask me about changing my order, failing to ask about re-pricing my order? At this point I didn't want a batch 2. I never wanted a batch 2.

I asked within 3 hours for the following, after apologizing, What my total refund would be AND what my "Fair Compensation" would be.

Within 12 hours the disputed order shipped.

No answer Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. Email was sent late Thursday. As of Monday late my order finally finished its warehousing. Tuesday I send another email asking if distributor would please reply to my last email. Last email included in current email.

Wednesday I get a reply. Here is your tracking #. Batch 1 and 2 shipped about the same time. I have to refund the 7.7% for specs and I have to refund 0.02 for the price difference. Let me know wallet address.

I reply I asked for full refund and fair compensation. Order is complete when package is accepted I have not and in 7 days UPS will return your package to you. I point out I still wouldn't have paid shipping on Batch 2 (ordering from bitmain) and told distributor I figured the 0.1115 over the cost of batch 2 directly was fair compensation at this point. I notified distributor that I was interested in either 0.1115  or a full refund and they have until the package goes back at that point I expect a full refund.

No reply in 48 hours. Send email to admin because I get an order complete email. I point out 1.48 is better then 0. Ask what they would prefer.

48 hours more still no replies.

I really would like a way to deal with this that doesn't leave me with a more then Batch 1 priced shipped same as batch 3 held in China for 4-5 days batch 2 then left at UPS because I have an issue with the questionable way this has been handled. Most of this is the price of business

1. Why did you not order directly from bitmain?
2. If you paid with paypal or a credit card you can file a dispute directly with them.  Although, filing a dispute due to "shipping time" might be a hard case to win.  "Batch 1" and "Batch 2" are identical products.
3. If you paid with BTC you are SOL
4. Best thing to do is identify them in the forum as a warning to others.  The bad publicity might make them act.

Any word on the refunds? It's been over 10 days!  Angry
Did you recheck your Bitmain acct. I had to reverify the address to receive at.

Did you get your refund yet?

Anyone else still waiting for customs?  All of my S3s have been stuck there for almost 7 days now.    :-/   I'm losing all kinds of BTC while waiting.

Nope, mine has been going for over a week now, so many coins!

Nice to see Batch 4 sell out so quickly Smiley Picked up another 6 in Batch 5 Smiley

Wow, cant believe the batch 5 price is only 0.01 lower than batch 4.  An S3 should make ~0.09 during that time.  Each batch is a worse deal...
as long as the batches keep selling this fast the price will not drop to fast.

Seems that Bitmain realizes batch 1 (@ ~0.7 btc each) were way underpriced if they can get 0.65 btc a month later.

You are welcome to deal with Hashfast, Cointerra... or Butterfly Labs...

Haha, somebody is a little sensitive.

I have a LEPA 1200W PSU, do you guys think three A3 batch 4 will work on one of these units? Is anyone running 3 off a 1000W or 1200W? Would like to hear about it if you are....

You want to run your PSU at below 90% load or 1080 watt. 3 S3s will require 1098 at a minimum. So, 3 S3s can be run with a 1200 W PSU but not recommended.

Why is a 1200w not recommended on 3 if it is running at 90% load?

I have 3 running on a corsair 1200i.  Pulls 1050 from the wall.  Runs great. A high quality 1200w can run 3 S3s NO PROBLEM!

Hi,

Is anyone able to help me out?  I purchased 2 of the S3's and bought the Enermax Triatholor ECO 550W 80 Plus Bronze PSU (one for each S3).  It says the DC output is +12V 42A 504W.  I hooked one PCI-e connector to one side of the machine and hooked up another PCI-e to the opposite side using only two of the four connections.  The machine never reaches over 330 - 340 GH/s.  Do I need to overclock this machine to reach the 478 GH/s, or do I need to buy a bigger PSU, or both?  If I need a bigger PSU which is recommended?

please post your miner status page

The pricing for Batch 4 S3s are terrible! The batch 1 price after discount was 0.694.  By the time one would receive a batch 4 S3, a batch 1 will have mined ~0.25 BTC.  Do the math people!
117  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 20, 2014, 03:32:50 PM
People who say anything about not meeting ROI are ignorant. How can you comment on ROI when you have no idea what the cost of bitcoin will be next week, next month, etc.

Terrible way to look at anything.  Just because you don't know things to certain doesn't mean you should be analytical and use the best data available to make a thoughtful decision.

Dont mistake not knowing everything with not knowing anything.
118  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer S3 support and OverClocking thread on: July 19, 2014, 03:08:57 PM
Total noob here.  Could you please provide a step by step guide to overclocking the S3. Thanks.

Download putty from here first. http://www.putty.org/
Open it and put your antminer ip address.
Put root as username and password when asked.
Then, type and enter the below.
Code:
vim /etc/config/asic-freq
vim is a text file editor. The asic-freq file is opened now.
Type
Code:
i
and comment by putting # in the default values and uncomment by removing # from the frequency set(freq_value,chip_freq,timeout) you want to set.
Type
Code:
!wq
to save and exit the file.
Type the below now and close putty. Restart Antminer S3 and you are running now at the new frequency.

Thanks for the help.  I was able to login via putty and get the screen with the freq values.  However, not sure where on the screen to type the "i" and "!wq" commands.

Sigh . Ups arrived with a bill for 176 Euro for 2 S3s. Problem is there was only one one box. I didnt want to pay until I got the 2 boxes and have the hassle of tracking down the other one since it would be scanned as delivered, so Ill have to wait until monday

How do these machines have any chance to ROI in Europe with the electricity prices and import taxes!?!?
