That escalated quickly.... hahahahahaha

Look how disappointed he is—acting like a crybaby. Do you believe I should reply to such a crybaby? They cannot accept their mistake and shut out others' mouth who doesn't support them. The fact I shared is based on common sense. Laszlo indeed bought more than two pizzas. But that doesn't mean he spent 40K Bitcoins to buy eight pizzas. He never stated that anywhere in the world. So, I am wondering where those kids collected this information. What is the source? I don't want a reference like "Trust me, bro". Why are those kids on the internet and a public forum if they cannot take a simple suggestion? Who gave them internet access at twelve years?

I did not want to reply to him. Since you noticed and quoted me as well. I decided to talk to you about this so that kid doesn't get angry again. I would say he successfully spread the false claim and reached his goal. His main goal was to get something, and he received one from you. You never forget to feed those hungry Kids!
102  Other / Meta / Re: Thread banners (SMF idea) on: May 26, 2023, 06:36:01 AM
Campaign managers that are doing this intentionally would have the option to ignore this feature, though. If some managers started using it, and some didn't, it might actually make the trap more effective, by lulling potential participants into thinking: "No banner? It must be safe to apply then..." Grin

You may not want to use the word trap here. You may want to use better wording  Cheesy We don't want anyone to fall in the trap. Right? Your patch will help them to see if there is any important announcement. So, it will help them to notice important things. It would be awesome if managers could use this feature in their old threads. For example, We cannot turn our self-moderated threads into normal threads. Also, We cannot turn our normal threads into self-moderated threads. If the new banner system works the same, I don't think managers would create a new campaign thread to use this feature.

The fact is that so many users who apply in a signature campaign doesn't care to read the instructions of signature campaign before get applied, they only concentrate to know the specific rate campaign is to pay participants and the board to post, majority participants that's not been selected in same campaign is bumping and reapplying in same signature campaign, another thing is that some has seen the instructions but they keep on trying to see if they will be lucky to be select. But cm state it categorically that one that bump it's application will be ignore, you will see that no user or  application that will be reapply or bumped

Look at the signature Campaign I and PowerGlove are in. The Campaign manager said Apply if you are a prominent forum member or an ex-ChipMixer participant. People started applying there with one merit earned in the last 120 days. Unless inactive, I don't think any prominent forum members earn less than 100 Merits in the previous 120 days. The campaign manager said reapplying is not allowed, and they will be put on the ignore list. But who cares?

Congratulations LFC_Bitcoin!
Yeah, You are right. It would be best if you started moving a little more. Go outside and Join Steve on Beer with Steve!  Cheesy
Writing 20K posts is no joke. There are a lot of people who started their journey ten years ago. But only a few remain active and still hang out in the forum. Sometimes we lose interest in something, so people leave the forum. Not only forums; it happens in everything. But, It's great that you are still interested in the forum. Maybe because Bitcoin played a significant role in your real life?

BTW, I was going to ask you to beat Chartbuddy. But, It seems LoyceV wants you to compete with him. Moreover, Chartbuddy has a tough competitor.

What odds do you have on ChartBuddy vs philipma1957?

If philipma1957 doesn't leave the forum anytime soon,

Then it should be like philipma1957 9.9 : 1.1 ChartBuddy.
104  Other / Meta / Re: Images from Imgur have been restored on: May 25, 2023, 03:46:30 AM
Oops! That's a harsh decision on them from theymos, but I have nothing to say than they deserve it.
They were blocking Bitcointalk proxy. Wasn't it harsher for all users? What if they start blocking the Bitcointalk proxy again? The same thing will happen again, and we must find a solution. To prevent the same situation in the future, theymos decided not to allow new images from Imgur anymore.

But to prevent this from happening again, you'll get an error if you try to embed imgur images in posts from now on.

Moreover, theymos will create a page recommending services like image hosting. He is looking for feedback from community members. You may suggest to him the best image hosting you are using.

I'd like to create a page which recommends services for hosting forum images, and mention this in the error message you get when you try to use imgur. Other than TalkImg, which ones are good?

Personally, I would recommend using Talkimg since they are the only service exclusively for BitcoinTalk forum users.

Advertising services....

Users can also Upload videos, memes, gifs, and images to simply earn money from views, grow your page, and profit from advertising. Imgur has over 100 million monthly users and is a massive site. You will make a lot of money if you know your way around it.

Excellent information, BTW. I didn't know that. Is it like Facebook/Youtube monetization? They will show ads on my content page and share part of their revenue. Does it work like that? I will try to get more info about it. But, Can you please tell me if they have some special requirements like I have to upload x number of content or I should have x number of followers/subscribers/viewers etc.?

105  Other / Meta / Re: [Bitcointalk Party - Discord sv] Bitcoin Pizza bake-off contest! Enter by June 1 on: May 25, 2023, 03:32:07 AM
Could you help me to solve this myth, please.

Did Laszlo Hanyecz exchange 40000 BTC for 8 pizzas, not 10000 BTC for 2 pizzas?. I only knew about this days ago and could not find more confirmations for this information anywhere. It started in this forum and the answer should be found in this forum.

There is no myth. I responded to you in your other thread. Don't come to a conclusion based on a single Twitter handle. I can create a Twitter account and buy some fake followers and say I've traded the rest 30K Bitcoins for six pizzas. That doesn't make sense at all. Stop Spreading fake news without any sources. Laszlo was active in the forum till 2017. He never said he traded 40K Bitcoins for eight pizzas. A couple of Media interviewed him. He never said he traded more than 10 thousand Bitcoin for pizzas (If he said, Refer me there, and I will apologize for my statement).

So, there is no myth to solve. Too much curiosity spreads fake things, and other newbies get confused with such phony information. If a newbie sees this, he might think this is authentic news and will start saying the same thing. This is how FUD creates.

It's not like you have heard this thing from any media. Nor from multiple Twitter handles. A Single Twitter handle claims this repeatedly, and you get excited about it. However, This thread is exclusively for the Discord server and Pizza contest. You have created a thread for the same thing you posted here—no point in posting it everywhere.
106  Other / Meta / Re: Did Laszlo Hanyecz exchange 40000 BTC for 8 pizzas, not 10000 BTC for 2 pizzas? on: May 25, 2023, 03:16:27 AM
40,000 BTC, not 10,000 BTC. Massive regret.
The sources you mentioned are not authentic. Laszlo is not active in this forum anymore. So, it's not possible to get an answer from him. But he was interviewed many times. He never said he traded 40000 Bitcoins for eight pizzas. Don't conclude just from some fake resources. Most Twitter accounts try to say something new and get attention to increase their followers. I won't believe any of them without a proper source. However, all three Tweets you quoted from the same Twitter account. If they can refer to the post where Laszlo himself said that he bought eight pizzas and traded 40000 Bitcoins, I will believe that. Moreover, I will look for the Blockchain transaction as well.

Don't trust anyone. Verify!
Whenever you see someone saying something without a source, Ask them to provide a reference from where they get it. Laszlo was active in the forum till 2017. Don't you think he would share that if he had done those deals too?

My Pizza for Bitcoin Pizza Contest!
This is my Homemade pizza. Special Thanks to my wife. She helped a lot. Baking a pizza without an oven is not an easy job. But we did it together. It tasted good except for the lemon. I had no idea how it would taste with lemon. I tried something unique, but it was the worst experiment. Damn it. Other than that, the pizza was good (Looking not suitable, honestly). Nothing creative, but it was fun.

The Final result is;

109  Other / Meta / Re: Can you create animated signatures here? on: May 24, 2023, 12:00:12 PM
Is it possible?

It's not possible. I believe you already knew that for some reason but still decided to create a useless thread.
I mean, Let's say you did not know that. You can make it a little longer and tell us why you want to know that. Are you planning to create such an animated signature? Or you may want to wear an animated signature. Is it how you always create a thread?

I don't get it.
That's me, I want to know!
In Meta because of bold part, what do you think?
Recently moved from LastPass to bitwarden. Question remains same, what about users data if these services go offline for whatever reason?
...encrypt it and put it somewhere safe. Just so, if it goes offline your data remains safe.
Not a big deal, I'm just wondering.
..Supply if validators consent?

These are some of your threads did not add any value to the forum.
You need to follow LoyceV's Suggestion.

@OP: Read theymos' Topic title style guide.
110  Other / Meta / Re: OgNasty wrote a beauty! on: May 24, 2023, 11:41:11 AM
The current situation already make many newbie become hard to active in this forum, they can't post because of evil IP address, they can't post freely due to time frame limitation, they can get banned due to plagiarism

I don't see those bolded parts as a reason. I don't think any newbie writes too often; that may give them a time frame limit. Even if they post multiple times in a short time frame, I doubt the post quality. Getting banned due to plagiarism is not too harsh. Especially forum moderators are giving more chances to users. If they get caught doing plagiarism multiple times, It's justified. If you see some newbies doing plagiarism, You report them, and they never know why they were banned.

An excellent idea could be if you see someone plagiarizing, warn them and refer to the rules thread. If you find them for a 2nd time, Give them a temp ban. The 3rd time they should be banned permanently. I agree that getting permanently banned for first-time plagiarism is too harsh. We don't know how many chances someone got. So, it is up to moderators to find out if they were given an opportunity. They may have a log of users' activity.

Quote
not many users welcome newbie etc.
I see this one as the biggest problem. At the same time, I don't blame everyone. Some of us always try to help newbies, while some of us constantly being attacking to them.
111  Other / Meta / Re: Thread banners (SMF idea) on: May 24, 2023, 11:16:41 AM
What do you guys think of a feature that would let the OP of a topic specify some "banner" text that would appear at the top and bottom of every page of that thread (maybe in a colored box, or something)?

Like this one?

The idea is not bad. It will help Campaign managers or the thread creators to write something important like an announcement/news header. But, Whoever never read replies before they apply in a thread won't read that either.

See this, for example. The Campaign Manager said;

If you are prominent Sr., Hero or Legendary Member feel free to apply. You do not need to have earned 500 merit in the last 120 days but please look within and be honest with yourselves about your standing in this forum and the content you produce.

Now Look at the application of a potential participant and what he wrote;

~Hi, I saw in the title that the campaign is open but I'm not sure for which slot, I'm posting my application just in case, thanks!

He wants to participate in a campaign but did not bother to check the thread if any spots are available for him. This is how people ignore most of warnings! People were talking about giving warnings on a page, and look what theymos said;

Honestly, I think that someone that naïve can't be protected. Even if every inch of the page had been full of warnings, he still might've fallen for it,
112  Other / Meta / Re: Any extension for viewing total merit on post/topic ? on: May 24, 2023, 10:53:57 AM
Actually, knowing the numbers of total merits on each post is not a bad idea but i don't see the necessity for such,
It depends from person to person. It depends on how much you care about your post and judge yourself. Sometimes people assume their post quality by the number of merits they received. Of course, good posts get more merits than generic posts. Everyone doesn't need to use such a script. If you think you don't want it, ignore it. Other members may find it interesting. Take me, for example. I don't create many threads. But, Whenever I see others write good posts, it's fun to see how many merits they got.

Quote
Also i wouldn't want it to look more like a competitive quest that everyone will want to see himself getting a huge total number of merits on his post comparing to what others has, since everyone giving the merits is appearing on the post, making a summation of these merits is not that very important since there's no requirement for such post with the highest merits received or before participating in a signature campaign.
Op did not claim any of what you stated. He did not say that it was essential to summation up these merits. You are just trying to create a few points and twisting them. Nobody told you that there are some requirements for such a post with the highest merits received to participate in the signature campaign. Or maybe I am missing something? Learn to appreciate when someone creates useful tools. A single tool cannot be suited to everyone. Suppose it doesn't fit you. Please don't use it.

Yep, last day for main round Indian Premier League today..

Hey Steve! I am not sure if you are still there. But, as you already know, IPL Playoffs have already started, and Gujrat is facing Chennai today. Still, six overs to go, but it looks like Chennai will win the match today. Here is an Interesting update on IPL, in case you don't know.

BCCI Announcement About Dot Balls in IPL Playoff

Who noticed a tree icon on every dot ball instead of a dot? Maybe you are wondering why suddenly, TV broadcasters are showing a tree icon instead of a Dot. Here is why; BCCI announced they would plant 500 Trees for each dot ball played in IPL Playoff matches. This means Each time you a tree icon, BCCI will plant 500 Trees. Later, TV broadcasters decided to put a tree icon instead of a dot ball icon to spread awareness of this campaign. This is one of the most unique initiatives I have ever seen, and I appreciate it. You can check Google for more detailed Information!

115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Getting around KYC on: May 23, 2023, 07:36:22 AM
This might be an off-topic here. I just found an article on Coindesk that its 4th consecutive month Decentralized Exchange Uniswap Trading Volume Outpaces Coinbase. Isn't it great? Let's see how long they can continue this performance. Of course, it depends on users.
As you've said before, you're talking about a real P2P trade, Uniswap isn't because Uniswap is using a smart contract, so when you swap your token, you're involved with the exchange smart contract, not P2P with other people.

See the bolded part. I was talking about a real P2P. But, in the 2nd phase, I wasn't talking about real P2P. I am aware that Uniswap is not a real P2P platform. But, It's still better than Centralized exchanges. I was surprised to see that stats. Uniswap growth is eye-catching. Competing with a well-established Exchange for a free month in a row isn't easy. At the same time, I believe the category of user base is different. People will use coinbase no matter what benefit Uniswap offers and Uniswap users won't use coinbase.

As I've said in many other threads before, I am looking for a real P2P platform where i can find my locals to trade with them. I've checked a bunch of platforms where i was not able to find my locals. Maybe because i am from a tiny country with a very little number of Bitcoiners. I prefer real P2P Platform without KYC requirements. I am still using Centralized exchanges  Undecided
116  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Wearing Double signature (Shan85) on: May 23, 2023, 07:13:24 AM
How's this? See Your signature log. I check each profile on my list at least once a day, at random times. If there's a change, a new entry gets added to that page.

So far, my list isn't that long, and it's still experimental.
Well, This is good. But, before you work on it more, You should contact some Campaign managers like Hhampuz and Royse777, who manages many campaigns. You can discuss whether they need the service before you further improve it. This is a super helpful tool for a campaign manager and the company. Campaign managers may charge an extra $ for every week from the company. But, It also depends on your pricing. Let's say a company wants this subscription at a low price, like $5/week. But, you may think, No, the service I will provide is worth more than that. So, You may discuss the excellent price for a campaign with 30-40 Participants.

About your Current development, Yeah, it's nice. I can see the date of first-time download, the signature and the last update time. Is it possible to detect the changes if they were made for a few minutes? Let's say I changed my signature for a few minutes and returned to what it was before. Will your bot be able to detect it?

We had two contests in the last two years. Rikafip and fillippone won each of them. It
Just a small correction: there were actually three pizza contest organised by Cyrus and first two nionio and me shared the first spot and fillippone won the 3rd.

Thanks, Rikafip! Indeed I already got it, but you posted before I edited the post. At first, I was checking the Discord server forum thread, and there was no announcement of the winner for 2020. So, I thought maybe this was abandoned due to a small number of participants. Moreover, there was no activity from 26th May 2020 to 14th July 2020. Right after that, I started to dig into the Discord server and noticed three events archived. So, I wondered if I could find the winner list here. Then I found this;

I was surprised that you and Nionio shared two contest prizes in a row. Huh? Same Winners, Same result, isn't it surprising? It seems both of you guys like to compete in pizza baking. fillippone is another king. I am tempted to see new pizzas from all over the world. Moreover, excited to submit my pizza with the worst decorating skills.
118  Other / Meta / Re: Happy bitcoin pizza day to all forum members on: May 22, 2023, 01:10:11 PM
It is indeed a historical event but I think it would be more fun if there's an event for us to enjoy or have fun which I think the best way to celebrate the event. I think a baking contest or an art contest about the event. Well, it's up to anyone to start a contest but since I am not a merit source then I wouldn't have enough smerit to reward those who want to participate in the contest. Anyway, happy bitcoin pizza day to everyone and also this makes me want to eat pizza Smiley.
We had two three contests in the last two three years. Rikafip and Rikafip and Nionion Shared two prize in 2020 and 2021. fillippone won The latest contest. It's not late yet. As far as I know, Cyrus is preparing the content, and we may see the announcement soon. For more information, join the Bitcoin Discord server and BitcoinTalk Party Discord Server Thread. At first, they said the Pizza badge was temporary. But, Nobody knows how long it will be under the winner's name.

I am happy it's been a year, and the badge still shines under fillippone's name. I am very much tempted to see the new content and everyone's creative pizzas. I may join the contest as well. For now, waiting for the announcement because there might be a slight change in the contest rules this year.

Who else is looking forward to the Mumbai Indians match on Sunday?
Hey Steve, I hope you enjoyed the match Between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. I was wrong yesterday. I said Whoever wins the game will be qualified for the semi-finals. But, Right after the game, I realized Mumbai Indians Net Run Rate was in the minus figure. So, they still had to wait for another game result between Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Gujarat Titans. Fortunately, Gujarat Titans won the match, and Bangalore got no points. Royal Challengers Bangalore had a chance to qualify for the semi-finals if they could win the game against Guzrat Titans. Their Net Run Rate was +0.135, while Mumbai Indians Net Run Rate was -0.044. I would say this was the lucky day For Mumbai Indians. You brought it for them  Cheesy

We also have a special event planned for Monday too!   Shocked Shocked
BTW, I wonder what this event could be? We don't have IPL Match Today. Gujarat Titans will play against Chennai Super Kings on May 23.
120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin or cryptocurrency offer loan service? on: May 21, 2023, 07:17:02 AM
The discussion should have closed right after Nwada001's post. He explained everything very well. In case OP wanted to hear from more users and want to verify if he is right, I want to vouch for his post and say there is nothing to add new right after his post. Most of us will repeat the same thing he wrote. You might get different answers if someone doesn't understand what are you looking for.

While decentralized system is the crypto currency or the Blockchain technology which is the where Bitcoin is built on.
I want backing Nwada001 here. Not all cryptocurrencies are decentralized. Most of them can create unlimited coins out of thin air. Did you notice how Terra Luna increased their supply during the crash?

Quote
Both have helped to solve human financial problems in one way or the other, depending on the means which one earns from.
Ignoring all other features I could talk about and with my focus on loans schemes, I want to ask if as banks offer loans to individuals, companies even to the government, does Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies or exchange offer loan service?
If yes, what is some criteria that may be required?
I never took a loan from the Internet. But yes, some centralized exchanges offer loans. The main criteria to get a loan from them is you have to provide them collateral, and they accept altcoins as collateral. This is not the main part if you care about privacy. You have to provide KYC on centralized exchanges. So, if you have valid collaterals like altcoins, You can try to get a loan from the Lending section with collateral. Since you are a newbie, don't ask for a non-collateral loan. Your request will be rejected, and you may get tagged as well.
