101  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: February 22, 2012, 02:04:50 AM
lodcrappo I got my web mgpumon to work.

However, the reason it worked was because I opened a mgpumon status monitor using only: mgpumon /etc/bamt/mgpumon.conf

Every time I close the mgpumon status monitor it stops showing up on the web.

why?

It needs to stay running. You can modify the /etc/bamt/mgpumon.conf (nano /etc/bamt/mgpumon.conf) and change the 0 to a 1 on the first variable "screen", that way you will have something to look at, kind of like gpumon.

I have screen set at 1 already.

If (mgpumon /etc/bamt/mgpumon.conf) needs to start and be running, then how can I have it run at boot up or reboot?

thanks

OK, I got it working 99%......

when I ssh to one box, I can see both rig on mgpumon.

However, through the web, when i put http://myip/mgpumon/  i get

Not Found

The requested URL /mgpumon/ was not found on this server.

when i use this,

http://myip/cgi-bin/status.pl

I get only 1 rig

Ok, I got it working on 1 of them

My farm has 2 rigs. Do i have to setup port forwarding to both? or just 1?

thanks

make sure both are set to broadcast status, then you only need to run mgpumon on either one and you'll see status of both.

note that all this business with port forwarding and networking might be better served in another thread.  it's nothing specific to BAMT, this is networking 101 stuff.

Sorry lodcrappo.....lol!!! I am not a networking guy.

Splirow, it works like a hotel room...you dial 410 on the phone and get room 410. but if you dial 410 from home it will not work. so you need the hotels telephone number...when you call the telephone number you ask the guy at the front desk to connect you to room 410.

so there are 2 kinds of ip addresses, the ones in the building, that pc's use to talk to each other, and outside the building, just like the phone numbers.

so when you call the hotel, you must ask the guy to transfer you to the room, same wih the ip address...you must get the outside ip address to transfer you to the right pc.

in order to do this you need to forward a port to that pc, or to your main pc you use at work.

the pc at work should have a static ip address.

if you look at the site:

http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm find your router and follow the instructions...

if this is too complicated go to logmein.com register and choose the free option. not the trial, the free one...then add yur pc at work, and you can log into it from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection.

Ok. I can see the web interface only with a computer under the same network (router) where my mining rig is, which is at my job. But if I go to my home, I cant see it. It does not load the page.

Did I do something wrong here?

No, you're fine. 192.168.0.xxx are local network addresses, meaning they will only work on a local network. If you must access it from outside, you can try the external IP. (Though unless you have dedicated IPs for your miners, I'm not sure if that works, I've never done it from outside my network) Run ifconfig, it's the number after "inet addr:" in the field "eth1:avahi" for my rig, Whatever IP that doesn't begin with 192.168 is probably it. Good luck!

EDIT: I suppose I should have assumed you didn't have dedicated IPs. Forward port 22 on your router to the miner.

how do you do that?? I have a linksys wrt54g

thanks

Yes i have access to the router

Thanks lodcrappo for the hard work on this excellent OS for mining!!!

I am totally a noob using linux. If I was able to do it so can anybody else!!! You ROCK!!

Question,  can I monitor the rig remotely?? When I say remotely I mean, away.

If so how?

or you can only do it on the same network?

if its just one rig, ssh to it or view its web interface.  can be done from anywhere.

if its multiple, ssh to any of them and run mgpumon, or run mgpumon in html mode on any of them and open that webpage.  again, can be done from anywhere.

for my 5970 and the clocks set to 800/300 i am getting about 365mh/s

the aggression is whatever bamt originally was, i have not changed its default numbers.

i do not ssh i control the machine by sitting in front of it, i have kvm switches that i use...

I hope i do not sound like an expert, these are just my settings through simple trial and error...and other advice posted on this forum

Which kernel are u using?

Are you using Phoenix?

How many 5970 does your rig have?

Thanks Max
112  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: February 19, 2012, 06:58:55 AM
Max,

Few questions.... I have 3 5970 on 1 rig running bamt. It mines normally, however, the system is very slow. ( mouse drags.....etc)

are you going through he same thing? Is it normal?

I have them over clocked at 820 with mem 500. Aggression is 13

What is your settings?

That's perfectly normal.  Wink

The videocards are just being heavily used by the mining process, which is as it should be. I would suggest connecting and controlling the rig via SSH. If you must control with an attached monitor, turn the aggression down to ~7 on the video-outputting GPU; it'll speed up your desktop.

Thanks....

What settings you have on 5970?

High guys,

I finally have my Bamt rig working with 3 5970.

However, I am a newb to linux...... I used GUIMiner before on windows 7 which was very simple.

I still can't see or understand how to setup the MGPUMON on a browser. Or remotely. I can only see it on terminal. I would pay pay 5BTC for a instructional video on setting up bamt COMPLETELY. I wish I can pay more! If any one else wants to add to this bounty.

thanks

Just started and it is working GREAT!!

Does anybody have any tips or best configurations for my 5970's? I have 3 of them.....with BAMT.

VERY DUMB QUESTION OF THE DAY!!!

I am a newb using lyniux/Bamt. Was using guiminer.

How do you setup the pools??

I tried the pools file, but i cant get it setup to work on btcguild

http://GOOD.T1:anythinghere@btcguild.com:8332/?Huh

http://username.worker:anythinghere@btcguild.com:8332/?Huh

Btcguild does not use a password on worker

I have tried everything and am stuck.

Kraken, how did you get your to work? are you using windows 7?

thanks

I have just downloaded the client zip pack. Unzipped run client run miner and .. they are working. On 1 miner thread there is I dont know some kind of error? but im not sure.
" "error"="null" "
Im not in to a software programming but my mind says error = null means no error?
Either way block are calculating but only in one block i got 25 coins the rest is 0.

Which miner file did you use?
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FAIRBRIX - Announcement - CPU friendly - GPU hostile - Tiny premine on: October 02, 2011, 12:29:48 AM
Well I have mined a few blocks so far and I only got one bloc with 25 coins. The rest of them have 0.00 value and even after 300 - 400 confirmations their balance is still 0 and its says "Mined balance will be available after 0 more blocks"

Using 2thread batch file - dont show that "error" ? But mined blocks have 0. The one block that contained 25 coins was created at 100 block counts (628 blocks back) and on 1 thred batch file which "shows error? "

Kraken, how did you get your to work? are you using windows 7?

thanks
