101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you find out about new projects? on: October 09, 2020, 06:11:36 PM
I don't have much money to invest in new projects. What I'm trying to do is to keep track of traditional investors who are switching to crypto and try to keep track of where they invest. Generally these people research the team's names, feasibility and guarantee some cash flow in the long time.

a16z for example is the group that I observe the most. I can't participate in groups like these suggested because it is difficult to filter what is paid marketing from what is a well-structured financial advice.

103  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela Planning New 100,000-Bolivar Bills Worth Just $0.23 on: October 09, 2020, 03:26:44 AM
The more corrupt the country is, the more they need paper money. Corruption is simpler that way, including for government officials. The government flattens employees' salaries to maintain superficial control of inflation and allows for further negotiations, criminal activities. No punishment. Many government officials receive more than their own corrupt wages.
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Grayscale buy btc and cryptocurrency huge ammount on: October 08, 2020, 08:05:41 PM
Most of the time they buy directly from Miners. They also buy at major auctions. You are confusing exchange with sellers. Not all sellers are on exchanges. These wholesale negotiations are called OTC. Some exchanges offer this service, but it is detached from traditional retailing.

Buying or selling directly from the book in large quantities is terrible. Unless your purpose is to manipulate the price.

107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's IP address found on: October 07, 2020, 10:08:35 PM
If someday somebody really finds out who he was, I think it will take a lot of the excitement out there. He was probably a normal person, with some controversial positions. I see no gain in knowing who he is, although I am curious. But worse than not knowing, it is the imposters who try to impersonate him. So anyone who discloses these findings needs to be careful.

Entendi, vlw.

Bem boa a tradução do blockchain.info Grin block virou bloquear Cheesy

Boa sorte!

So this shows that they want to calm down the markets, still have access to the user funds and that only 1 of them is in jail so they can still process withdrawals like they always have.

They continue with the withdraw. But is there anyone facing any kind of problem? Is there any possibility for the American Government to withhold funds? Contrary to what some people said, the market is quite calm. It had a small drop, but within the volatility that already existed.
111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin had a stale block this morning on: September 30, 2020, 11:06:39 PM
In a possible blackout in the communication between poles of the planet, we could still easily identify the longest chain and continue without major consequences.
Correction: It would be the chain with the most work involved in creating it, which is not necessarily the longest chain. In your hypothetical scenario of a chain split, both chains would end up with less total hashrate and so would adjust their difficulty downwards to compensate. A chain with less hashrate could generate more blocks, but the shorter chain with fewer but "harder" blocks may have done more total work, and so would be the favored chain.

Are you sure? I mean, in a scenario like what happened. Where everything is working in a normal way. Suddenly, there is an error in the structure of the internet and we have for a moment two separate poles. In less than 1 hour, would it be possible for a chain to have more blocks with a smaller hashrate?

I believe that the block exactly after this blackout would define it. Or not?

Bitcoin had a stale block this morning, at height 650,491. No double spends have been detected

https://forkmonitor.info/stale/btc/650491
There was also an earlier stale block today:

* Height 650,473
* Hash 0000000000000000000dba80455fcb5a8f9716375845f295dd755edb29e32fd8

Our systems failed to detect this

Once again there were no double spends

What Are Stale Blocks?
Stale Blocks are blocks that are no longer part of the current best blockchain because they were overridden by a longer chain.

It's just amazing how it proves Bitcoin's resilience. In a possible blackout in the communication between poles of the planet, we could still easily identify the longest chain and continue without major consequences.

It was
@binance
pool who mined this earlier stale block

I try to imagine how rich in Bitcoins Jack is. It is one of the projects he talks about most enthusiastically. Much more so than Twitter and Square. He truly believes in the potential of Bitcoin and has the power to take it to another level with his companies.
115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A woman has been arrested in the United States for hiring a killer with bitcoin on: September 26, 2020, 07:26:03 PM

There is no killer...   Undecided It's a scam. People that kill don't work on the internet.

There are thousands of murder cases that have been ordered on the internet. In forums, marketplaces, etc. This is very common. Cases that have been documented and tried with thousands of evidence.

Of course, most of these offers are scam. People trying to deceive others. But this is everywhere. The point is that a murderer is not able to kill thousands of people on demand. usually someone who wants to offer these services kills no more than 5 people. In general, people ask for someone with some proximity. An ex-security guard, a known ex-police officer, etc. When this possibility does not exist, He will search on the internet.

What does not exist are specific murder marketplaces that are reliable. Obviously, successful isolated cases may have occurred. But most of these marketplaces are scams. The big problem to be solved is the question of the oracle. In a negotiation between two parties, if one decides to deceive the other, we need a third party to decide who is right.

There are thousands of projects on track to offer this oracle without human interference. A decentralized oracle. It is an opportunity, but also a great risk.

117  Economy / Economics / Re: UK’s economy will lose a good amount of money if football clubs shut. on: September 24, 2020, 06:18:30 PM
Why is the UK economy losing money? I mean, in the relationship between entering foreign currency and leaving. Tv contracts are likely to remain the same. The audience that actually consumes football is the local audience. They may not be spending on live football, but it is certainly spending on other activities.

I believe that there are other sectors that are much more impacted, such as tourism, musical events and business events.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Former Portuguese currency" and "bitcoin" symbols on: September 24, 2020, 06:07:08 PM
Some people say that the dollar symbol appeared when they started to place the U on top of the S. They put money from the US. Then it was merged to $. So at some point the dollar also could have had two lines.

In Portugal they already had a currency that was called Dinheiro in english money.
119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where did Satoshi Nakamoto ever compared Bitcoin to gold or digital gold? on: September 06, 2020, 06:25:18 PM

Bitcoins have no dividend or potential future dividend, therefore not like a stock.

More like a collectible or commodity.

He didn't necessarily talk about gold, but commented on the potential to be a commodity or a collectible. That would be different from a company stock, for example.
120  Local / Economia & Mercado / Re: Atlas Quantum - Arbitragem Automatizada - ATENÇÃO, NÃO INVISTA on: September 06, 2020, 05:25:35 PM
