101  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: ATI HD 6670 Series - anyone got hashrate data? on: July 09, 2011, 12:26:00 AM
So quite disappointed in the card. But oh well only cost me $150nzd including postage.

That's about $125 USD. In which case you were royally ripped off.

A 5770 achieves 200mhash/s easily and they cost $79 these days, plus it's faster in games

Shipping was $25 Wink
Local stores were wanting $210 for it.

5770 went over the max power of the PSU and I cant swap in a larger one, The cheapest national store charges $180 for 5770 here.
My budget was only $160 and main use for the card is to play sims and watch videos since the on board just doesn't cut it.

So the cards in my price range that were available came down to
5670 and 6670
Took the 6670 since its got more SP and a higher texture fill rate.

I have a 6670 (800MHz version) running at 900MHz and I'm getting ~105mhash/s using poclbm.

You should be getting more then that.

Get the 3% faster modded one from the newbie section.
then use options -v -w 256
Under clocking the memory on this card didn't have any effect.
102  Economy / Currency exchange / selling 1BTC for $15 via paypal. on: July 08, 2011, 11:56:52 PM
Selling 1 BTC to cover this months extra power usage from my miners.

Reserve the right to decline the offer if you don't seem trust worthy.

Any one going to compile it into a windows client. Dont want to have to turn my mining PC off to mess around trying to compile it myself.
105  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Please submit accident reports on: July 08, 2011, 07:49:30 PM
Haven't had any mining but did ages ago running seti@home.
Big ass moth flew into the cpu fan and stopped it spinner. Tried getting it out with fingers but was to hot so got some pliers to get it out and just as I pulled it out fan hit pliers towards my gfx card which scared the shit out of me. Just missed hitting it.

Could call it debugging the pc.
106  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: ATI HD 6670 Series - anyone got hashrate data? on: July 08, 2011, 07:32:14 PM
I know its a old post but its the first one that comes up when searching 6670 hash rate in google.
Iv got a gigabyte stock oc edition, at 820mhz pumps out 105mh/s Can over clock to 905mhz (920 gives artifacts) which works fine in games and pumps out 127mh/s but throws a vpu restart error with in 20mins all the way down to 880mhz. So have to run 875mhz which pumps out 119mh/s.

So quite disappointed in the card. But oh well only cost me $150nzd including postage. And the options were limited since this is my GF's computer and only has 300W PSU and has to remain silent since its in the bed room. And its only drawing 209W full load.
107  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: further improved phatk OpenCL Kernel (> 2% increase) for Phoenix - 2011-07-06 on: July 07, 2011, 11:23:51 PM
version 2011-07-06 gives best over all speed. 0.500 faster then my modded one but opening firefox drops speed from 277 down to 233 where my one only drops 2mh/s. Probably just the way phatk works since iv never used the stock one.

version 2011-07-07 is all over the place. jumps between 255-280 without firefox open so don't know if its faster or slower. With firefox its more stable then older version and drops to 252-258

Im using it with poclbm.exe -v -w 256 (128 gave same result) on 6850 overclocked/underclocked and 2.1 SDK.

109  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why underclock video memory? on: July 06, 2011, 06:52:44 AM
use rivatuner to underclock the memory.
110  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why underclock video memory? on: July 06, 2011, 05:26:25 AM
On my 6850 lowers temp 64 to 63c but gives 3mhs faster also.

Really starting to miss BTC. Not much you can really do to stop a dos, What I did 4 years back when one of my servers was getting dos was change the IP address and point the domain name to Microsoft for a day. They will see the attack then get there team on to it and hopefully it will go to there legal team and the attacker gets busted.
112  Other / Archival / Re: Sold BitCoins On Ebay Got Scamed on: July 06, 2011, 01:18:29 AM
The thing to do is have an other paypal account and get payments made into that as gifts/donations. Once the money gets there transfere it into your normal paypal.

Being a gift/donation makes it harder to reverse it. Having it already spent aka in your other account makes it even harder.
113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newb wanting to know if mining is worth it to me....... on: July 04, 2011, 11:06:44 PM
Dont waste your time with cpu, will cost more in money then youll get.
poclbm seems to be the best for me onces iv done the 5% and 2% speed incress mods found in this newbie section. And using flags -v -w 256
114  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it possible to squeeze anything out of a single HD6850? on: July 04, 2011, 10:49:53 PM
Its starting to get to the point where its not worth while.

My 6850 gets me 277-280mhs  0.20 - 0.19 btc a day
960mhz core stock voltage
500mhz mem
63C
poclbm with options -v -w 256
Been optimized with the 5% faster mod and the 2% faster mod as well some small changes by me.

115  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: YOU BASTARDS YOU MADE ME KILL KENNY(NVIDIA) on: July 02, 2011, 08:29:54 PM
I use to like ATI back around 2000-2003 until I got Radeon 9800 Pro that was DOA, The seller took no responsibility for it so I had to deal with ATI directly. And sent the card back at my expense to get replaced. Was around $40 to send it. Got there and they said nothing was wrong with it and that I had to pay return postage of $30 and $80 for wasting there time. Which I was really pissed off about since the card was 100% DOA and I tested it in 3 computers but payed it any way since I at least wanted the card back. When I got it back they sent me some one elses card, A Radeon 9800 SE and they refused to send me my 9800 Pro saying the SE was just as good. So swore off them and had been Nvidia ever since and buying a new card every 2 years until I got my AMD cards this year.

Still would prefere Nvidia since I hate catalyst but there cards just arnt up to my needs at this point.
116  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why price is between 16 and 17 dollars per BTC. on: June 30, 2011, 10:41:45 PM
I had a play with MTGOX the other day. Managed to sell 9BTC for $17 each. Didnt relise how much there commision is so only ended up getting $16.8 for the each which pee'ed me off a bit so I made a buy order for 9BTC for 16.4 each which acutrally bought them all back so iv got all my coins back and 3 dollars in my account. Going to just hold on to my BTC now untill the mining difficultly goes right up at which point the price should go up too.

Yes, commissions need to be factored in. I made that mistake years ago on the real exchanges and lost quite a bit. Just forgot to take it into account. Mining difficulty is already priced in so you may be waiting longer than you think.

Yeah I'm aware that it might take awhile, No where supports transferring BTC to my currency anyway unless im willing to pay $45 for a international transfer. So im just hoping BTC will take off and become supported in more places at which point it will probably sky rocket like it did not long ago.
117  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: anyone donating on BTC Guild? on: June 30, 2011, 10:38:59 PM
I donate on and off. During the day I turn on the 2.5% so they get accepted straight away. At night I have the donation set to 0. But then I only transfer my BTC to my account at 10pm so by that time most of the ones from the night before have cleared and all the ones from the day are already cleared from the donators bonus.
118  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: expected return on: June 30, 2011, 10:34:59 PM
Cant tell you with out knowing your hardware.

With my 6850 overclocked when I started I was getting 0.9XXXX BTC a day, Now 2 months latter im getting 0.29XXX per day.
And its only going to get slower as the diffuclutly goes up as more people join in on mining.

IMO unless you already have the hardware or are looking a building a new computer for gaming your only going to lose money.

120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to reduce mem clock on 6950? on: June 29, 2011, 03:57:06 AM
Afterburner said it was using a lower clock but when checking in GPUZ it didnt change it lower for me altho overclocking it worked.
I had to use rivatuner to lower the memory clock.
