Sorry IPtables got the wrong port sent to it, up now ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) That's great! Everyone, please check out this pool! Ours is having intermittent issues :-(

Hi, Dev. I'm admin of 0feepool. The RPC Port 3651 is used by unix system and wallet can't be started. So....we're still not online. Strange, it has been tested on a number of configurations. What service on your machine is using 3651?

Just go to mining pool on their website. I am currently mining. It is working fine but this thread is just not explaining well enough.
Very sorry, we ran into unexpected difficulties and caused a small delay for the launch. We apologize about the communication problem. Now that the site is up, please let us know if any questions. Your pool... Failed to update your account: Unable to connect to RPC server for coin address validation Ok, please try another in the meantime? We are looking into, but also, it's important to use the other pools available.

Technical difficulties, please be patient ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Will be up shortly!

We are following the countdown on the website. Sorry for the discrepancy, we will confess as soon as it is up!
|
|
|
Countdown is at zero and the website is not working, no wallets, no nothing. ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Not sure what countdown you're looking at. Check the OP? We will release the wallets in ~5.5 hours. The site will actually be delayed for about an hour or two after the mining starts since coins need to mature by 120 confirmations before they're spendable (and so the site will be blank for at least about ~2 hours after launch). Anyone have strong feelings on that, btw? We're ok releasing the blank site a few hours before it can be truly used, but just don't want to cause confusion.

Bounties:
GUI Wallets - 15% Windows - 5% OSX - 5% Windows - 5%
So does this mean you don't have any wallets... ?
No, we will have the wallets at launch and are working with people to provide them. Those bounties are going to be claimed if the releases are provided as expected at the time of launch. If not ... they will stand open. The OP will be updated more frequently close to launch (in about 5.5 hours) to update on status. If we need additional help, believe me, we'll ask!

http://cfn.0feepool.com/ 0% Fee pool online for pre-registration PROP reward system. Stratum with vardiff. Stable SSD Server, DDOS protection. Cashout are processed every minute. EMail Support
We got you Berric. We'll be posting to all bounty collectors at some point shortly after the release, but it won't be immediate, as we need to know some time will pass and the sites will still be standing up. We are looking for a solid longer term community here. We hope that you're in for that ... and thanks!

Who keep the penance? The dev?
Just like the church, the middleman who facilitates the confession unto the almighty (blockchain) receives the offering ... i.e. the devs :-) ... we have not yet commented on transaction fees, since we are not close to the end of the block reward just yet. But yes, increased transaction fees will likely be a part of the system in time.
Really, the site will receive the penance, and in order to keep things liquid when the block reward mining ends, we'll also be paying it out mostly in the form of transaction fees to keep our community going.

Interesting comparison. I don't see any similarities to our core features (site, usage, etc) ... ? In fairness, it's hard to see the whole picture as we see it because the site and tools have not yet been released. But that will be remedied soon (launch is this weekend, see the timer on our site: http://confessioncoin.com)! We also have DigiShield built in already.

The problem is that people won't mine if they aren't getting paid for it in some way. If you are not going to have a POW block reward, the only solutions I see are either use POS which will perform the transactions, or give high enough transaction fees to draw miners.
Also a good point! Given that this coin is used primarily for creating content on the website, one could argue it's a smaller community than the general purpose cryptocurrency for daily spending, etc (such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, etc). That said, we have not yet commented on transaction fees, since we are not close to the end of the block reward just yet. But yes, increased transaction fees will likely be a part of the system in time. It can actually be built into the system pretty easily too, as content creators (i.e. people writing confessions) have to pay for their confessions. Once the payment is received, a different transaction is issued to store the confession in the blockchain, and that one could have the higher or automatic transaction fee attached to it so that users don't necessarily feel the weight immediately (for example on tips to the content creators).

Unless I'm mistaken, there is a big problem with the design of your coin. In your original post you say
"Mining ends ~1 year from launch"
Well if POS doesn't take over after 1 year your coin will stop working because there won't be any miners to make the network function.
Thanks for pointing that out. It's a wording issue only (OP updated). The block reward mining will end ~1 year after launch. Miners are still needed for transactions. All confessioncoins will be in circulation at that time.

Smells like experienceproject.com
Yeah, like so much. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Interesting, never heard of that one! I get the impression they're not decentralized or based on blockchain technology though?

what about an algo rather than scrypt. x11 is popular now.dev pls consider that and lets vote for the algo.
We appreciate the comment, but we've also thought about the algorithm quite a bit, and the decision to choose one over the other is not a technical problem --we actually want to use Scrypt for this coin (!) and are welcoming all miners (CPU/GPU/ASIC). We think it provides the best security for the network at this time. We are not excluding community input though, so we are open to discussions, but at least at the time of launch, this is the vision that we've set out to achieve. INPUT: Make it merge mined with another good coin... The MIM dev made it merge mined off FRK... I have asked them to point me to something that shows what changes to make to be merge mined off another scrypt coin. You can still mine it directly but you will add so much more hash and network stability if a pool merge mines CFN off another coin. Also a good suggestion, but we are standing by our own blockchain, as we believe in true decentralization. Merge mining doesn't mean you share a blockchain... you would still retain your own chain... You're absolutely correct. Sorry, I was thinking of something entirely different. This is not planned for our initial release, but if you have pointers to implementation details, please feel free to post or PM. Thanks!
