101  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Woke up today and lost all my Bitcoins ! on: March 19, 2015, 09:53:05 AM
Additionally, it is probably a good idea to spread your btc balance across a few addresses instead of storing them all in one address. If for some reason, that private key was compromised, you wouldn't have all your eggs in one basket. Spreads the risk out at least a little bit. Of course that doesn't matter if they have access to the wallet.
The only few ways for it to be compromised is a weak RNG. If they are all generated the same way, all of them would likely also be compromised thus all of them will get hacked. Also, if you place all the address in the same wallet.dat, they can still be compromised by virus.
102  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitvisitor sugestions on: March 19, 2015, 09:48:14 AM
it's a great way to waste a lot of time for literally nothing... As mentioned above, get in a signature program, that way you earn and learn a lot while browsing/posting here.
You wouldn't be contributing much if you join after knowning Bitcoin. It takes time. It is useless to join signature campaign when you are a newbie. Bitvisitor doesn't require any skills or knowledge.
103  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinapult Claims $40k Lost in Hot Wallet Compromise on: March 18, 2015, 04:02:09 PM
The security of bitcoin is still the biggest problem to make it going to mainstream. Bitcoin itself is more security than any bank account, but it's very complex to keep it security.

Most if not all Bitcoin exchanges do not have millions to pay security professionals each month code a nice backend that is bulletproof against hack attempts. Cold storage would definitely help with the storage though.
104  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help my transaction stuck for 10 days on: March 18, 2015, 03:59:25 PM
I had made a tx with blockchain.info wallet and it don't confirm in 10 days (it is not double spend, paying 1 satoshi fee) and I can't use the coins now. What can I do?
1 satoshi fee?
As far as I know, the mini fee is 1000 satoshi.
1 satoshi fee?=no fee at current.

There isn't actually a thing called "minimum fee" but there are "recommended fee". The least amount you could ever use is 0BTC. FYI:  546 satoshis is dust limit and a transaction shouldn't include less that that and using a fee less than 546 satoshi isn't a good idea than using 0 satoshis. I maybe wrong though.
AFAIK, a transaction must have all outputs above 5460 Satoshi to be considered as a non dust and have nodes relay it. If it's below that, nodes would simply not relay it. There are nodes which relays it but for nodes using Bitcoin Core, they don't. It is generally a bad idea to use 0 fees for anything below 0.1BTC since the priority would be so low that it would take a long time to confirm.
105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Regulation The End For Bitcoin? on: March 17, 2015, 03:07:28 PM
Is Regulation The End For Bitcoin?

http://bitforum.info/t/is-regulation-the-end-for-bitcoin/396

Maybe bitcoiners doesnt say this out loud but majority of us question ourselves, if Bitcoin will be regulated. Would it be the end?

I mean, if there is a central entity that regulates Bitcoin, do you think that they're regulation would be 'limited' or will they violate a bitcoiners privacy for the sake of 'regulation'?

In the article, it reads the advantages of regulation.

Can you give out negative effects if Bitcoin is regulated?

They can regulate all they want, they cannot come into your house and tell you what to do with your Bitcoins. As long as you don't convert to fiat reguations don't even matter.

Are you really that sure that authorities will not barge in to your house if you use unregulated coins? Think again.
Honestly, how would they know if you are using Bitcoin and not your neighbour? If they ever strongly restrict Bitcoin, encryption methods can be used to encrypt transactions and authorities would not be able to find you.
106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are people incentivized with [btc] to run nodes? on: March 17, 2015, 03:05:21 PM
It is better to have more nodes at different locations than at one location. If a datacenter experiences a blackout and lets say 1000 nodes run there, the network would instantly lose 1000 nodes which isn't good.
107  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hhuummm Bitcoin and credit cards on: March 17, 2015, 03:00:46 PM
Credit card companies don't like Bitcoins. Therefore, they are pretty risky to exchange. The fees has to be higher to cover the risk. I believe you can use circle to buy Bitcoins with credit card. No worries, they are trusted.
108  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sites that can generate vanity addresses for free? on: March 15, 2015, 01:14:49 PM
I've just created my adress, it was so easy. Now I am trying to make 6 special characters. I like this Smiley

That'll take a while, I think. My friend generated a 1Bitcoin address and took him a week to do that. Especially when it's case sensitive.

I don't use my other gaming desktop that has 3 graphic cards, I am using my old laptop but it has i7 processor with 8 cores, vanitygen says Prob %74, I am waiting almost 1 hour.

Wow, good luck with that.

Maybe you should just pay someone to do this. Because you're going to wait a long time probably.

I think it will find between prob %95 and %100. I already found my adress with start my name, I found in max 5 second. Now I am trying fantasy Smiley

It's not really fantasy, but it's improbable.

Just pay 0.1 to vanitygen for a 6 letter vanity addy. Worth it
0.1BTC is fairly overpriced for a 6 letter vanity. If you have a mid end GPU, that would be quite a fast process. AMD works better than nvidia though. If you insist on doing it online, then find one with split key functions.
109  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Woke up today and lost all my Bitcoins ! on: March 15, 2015, 01:11:59 PM
I firstly transferred 0.04 to an address on Mycelium and found out today that it got transfered to another address after 1 confirm. Secondly someone transferred my Bitcoins from both my wallets on my android phone 2.58187103 gambled them in the past 2 days and lost them all early morning to this address 1EdiKj78wUz6rFSmYQBTx9P165vEW27GiD. Can anyone help ? Thats all my Bitcoin gone in 3 days !
i feel sorry for your lost man
if bitcoin already confirm, you have to let it go
except you know who have your bitcoin
now you can send all bitcoin to new wallet and new address, to make sure it's safe
and then your scan your computer with antivirus
what computer? OP is using an android phone.

Virus on android is still pretty rare and to get infected, you need to have your unknown sources in the settings checked. If you downloaded an anti virus from the play store and scanned your apps frequently, this wouldn't happen. All I can say is, learn from this lesson and wipe your phone completely.
110  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to make money on this forum on: March 15, 2015, 01:07:33 PM
No way!

This forum is just for fun. To connect peoples with each other.

It is not an exchange or mine. It is a library. Information about anything like that.
Well, you could still offer your service at the service sub section or resell goods at the goods section for profit.
111  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin ATM's on: March 04, 2015, 02:40:27 AM
is that bitcoin ATM need several minutes to withdraw money?
I saw in youtube video about withdrawing money from bitcoin ATM
i think it's annoying if we must stand in front of ATM to wait our money out
It probably was the tested.com video. It drew a lot of negative advertisement for bitcoin. They need to work on the ATM and make them faster and less privacy intrustive, even tho I don't see a way around it in terms of not having to provide ID and hand scan... but its just so annoying and really creepy.
Yeah you're right, many negative comment after that. Hope in the future, btc atm will work faster than now. Agree! provide ID + hand scan is very annoying
they have only used one of the many Bitcoin ATMs available on the market. I personally have tried Lamassu and it worked pretty fast, less than 30 seconds after inserting the notes, i have the btc in my wallet.

aren't atms forcing first time users to verify themself?
i have seen a few that do need a lot personal information before using.

Depends on the jurisdiction, I guess. It all boils down to KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti Money Laundering) laws when it comes to those precautions. The ATM operators and companies sure don't like those things, as well, but they may have to comply to it by law.
Robocoins have ID verification turned on by default and cannot be turned off. In some parts of the world, you can exchange cash to BTC without verification.
112  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a true 'bank' for bitcoin? on: March 04, 2015, 02:38:08 AM
you could use btcjam. that does sort of the same. Right Smiley

Yes that is right it does lend threw p2p, good thinking i forgot about btcjam if i am honest as long as you have collateral and a means to pay back should have no problem getting a loan  Smiley and again i am sure it will not be as much as the sort of high interest loan you would get from bank etc
BTCJam does not accept collateral for loans and they only accept IDs which are easily faked. Out of every 100 loans, nearly 20 would default with no chance of contacting them. needless to say, their support isn't responsive.
113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Android Pay. on: March 03, 2015, 11:58:53 AM
So bitcoin is integrated in google pay? For purchasing apps and games? I'm very glad if we can use bitcoin for android payment, since i didn't have credit card. Hope they will implement bitcoin for Android payment

I think your mixing Android pay with Google play store. I don't know exactly how many retailers take Android pay but I guess it's like hooking up with a major player now and in the future. What's great is we don't need the Internet for processing, I guess you can store right on your phone wallet and pay instantly wherever android pay is taken. It's defer rely the future that the big companies including Apple are trying to get a piece of.
Depending on markets, you may not have the NFC function. This is the downside since there are lower end phones with no NFC. Apple however, has the newest gadgets shipped with NFC.
114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Stupid unconfirmed micro transactions. can't move any funds. on: March 03, 2015, 11:56:13 AM
you cannot spend unconfirmed transactions at all. if you want to send your funds without the unconfirmed transactions it think you have to use coin control in bitcoin-core to send only the confirmed coins

But if we receive bt in blockchain , we can send it further w/o waiting for a confirmation
Correct, you can send unconfirmed transaction. However, the newly created transaction will not confirm until the inputs are confirmed(at least 1 confirmation). If the service requires at least 1 confirmation to credit, you still have to wait.
115  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to make custom address without private key ? on: March 03, 2015, 11:54:27 AM
I think bitcoinaddress.org can do it.
Bitcoinaddress.org allows users to generate a paper wallet which is like your typical Bitcoin address, tied to a private key.
116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Extreme waste of electricity on: March 03, 2015, 11:51:02 AM
Bitcoin was first designed by SN to be able to allow everyone to mine on their desktop computer thus giving everyone a chance at getting coins and making the network decentralized. If you limit it to only a certain amount of specific hardware to mine the specific algorithm, it could result in the network being more centralized as only those who have the hardware can mine.
117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If everyone in the world mined with CPUs, could the average ASIC farm compete? on: March 03, 2015, 11:48:06 AM
It is unlikely that manufacturers will put a bitcoin mining chip in every computer, even if bitcoin is ubiquitous. I don't think they could justify the cost vs. increased sales.

True, it is expensive to add a feature that an average joe wouldn't use. Also, a redesign of the motherboard would be required and heat output would be much higher.
118  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is OS really important on: March 03, 2015, 11:46:34 AM
So I'm thinking about getting into bitcoin trading and stuff, and I plan to begin storing my first bitcoins soon. I've read for this sense it is much safer to have Linux than for example Windows (as it is for a lot of other aspects aswell). Do you think is this really a thing to consider? Do I need to have tons of bitcoins before I get concerned about their safety? Should I consider switching to Linux if I'm storing just a few of them, or is it stupid?

Thanks erry'one in advance.
you don't need to switch to linux just because of bitcoin, there are other ways for securing your bitcoin like paper wallet or like this
but linux is more secure and if you are willing to migrate from "familiar" windows to a new environment then go for it, especially if the programs that you use day by day have also linux versions

The problem is if you like videogames. I do and I also tend to use audio programs for music making. So If I want to use Linux I have to shut down and boot under Linux. Going through Win to Linux just for Bitcoin isnt worth it for me.
yes, exactly. this is my problem too. that is why i said "the programs that you use day by day have also linux versions". well videogames are a big part of it. but mostly some professional programs do not have any linux version and so a peroson who uses them on daily basis will encounter problems

p.s. i am not sure but i think there are ways to run there apps in linux too
I assume gaming programs are more optimized due to the amount of windows users out there. Frankly speaking, those who are intelligent never get viruses or malware. If you use google chrome, dont install foreign programs, etc. you would be just fine. Ubuntu is just for those who are paranoid but it has exploits in it too.
119  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: intel(R) hd graphics 4400 on: March 03, 2015, 11:43:30 AM
Even Dedicated graphic cards is not worth anymore for mining BTC. You just wasting your electric power. if you want to mine, try another coin with another algo. But i think intel HD graphics is not powerful enough for mining, even for gaming.

You'd be surprised at how much better the newer Intel integrated graphics are nowadays. It used to be that all integrated graphics were terrible but recent chipsets are competitive with low range dedicated ones which wasn't the case just a few years ago. The HD series was a huge improvement over the earlier GMA series and the difference between earlier and later HD chipsets can be quite significant too. The 4400 happens to be one of the more recent and better ones but most of the new integrated graphics from Intel can play on decent fps on even some newer games.

Don't mine bitcoin with CPU/GPU, if you want to you better mine altcoin
Maybe this site can help you : http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency

And i'm sure your CPU will explode soon if you keep mining with it
Even for scrypt altcoin, mining with GPU is not profitable anymore. Too many asic scrypt kill gpu mining recently

Not all of the coins on Coinwarz are scrypt coins. The ones with ASICs built for them are SHA-256 and Scrypt. There are about ten other algos there that don't have ASICs (yet).

I wouldn't advise CPU mining on a laptop as some others have suggested here but if you do decide to take this route, then the following link might be helpful:

http://www.cpucoinlist.com/

Some CPU-mineable coins aren't featured though - e.g. XMG's M7M algo.
Even though they have improved the graphics, the opencl calculation rates still suck. AMD and nvidia are much better as they are focused on performance. Integrated graphics isn't for gamers or developers. CPU mining on laptop is indeed hazardous. My GPU went up all the way to 95degrees Celsius last time i tried on my laptop.
120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying and selling on: March 03, 2015, 11:39:09 AM
i never tested.
its only for german?
i use localbitcoin and virwox Roll Eyes

can you explain virwox a little bit more? ever had any problems?

Virwox works fine. The problem is the huge comission that they charge.
Also will take u about 48 hours to get funds if us the first withdrawal.

Virwox is the last exchange someone would recommend due to their high and shitty support .
Best to just stick to lbt.
There has been cases of people being scammed on localbitcoins. Virwox is alright with no verification, acceptance of paypal. The steep fees is understandable as it is due to their risk of accepting paypal.
