101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Top wallet shoutout on: October 22, 2014, 05:26:51 AM
A shoutout to the owners of the top wallets,  uLAzKY  and uXZYPn:

You guys are so close to the #1 spot (I don't include Cryptsy as the legit #1 wallet, since it's all held in trust  Smiley )

Just pickup another 500 Uno and you can displace udYSEGN, the long time top wallet.  Do yourself the honor! You've come this far... Just 500 more Uno!  Smiley

@FK -- you didn't address this to me, but I took up your challenge.

I am now (excluding Cryptsy, of course) for a day or two or three, Numero Uno on the UNO rich list.  That's cool enough for me.  Now I want to be superseded by magnitudes and multitudes.

I have been mining since July 21st, buying since July 22nd -- at all kinds of prices, and I care not whither it goes for the short term.  I have not sold even a single part of a gram since I've been accumulating.  (I have, however, donated a few back to the community).

For the long term ... I am now reissuing to everyone here FK's challenge:  please surpass ME *now*, by leaps and bounds.  That "Red Monster" vs. the "Green Monster" staring at each other over the abyss on the Cryptsy "Depth" chart is hilarious, but really silly.  Folks, we can do this.  We know what UNO is.  Problem is, very few folks in the whole crypto universe have a clue of what UNO is.

Has anybody approached Max Keiser about UNO, or is he too engrossed with StartCoin/GoCoin (or whatever it is) to pay attention? Has Bryce or Blazr2 ever been interviewed by Max?  Is UNO ever going to come out from being a small mushroom in the giant forest of cryptos with all those flashing lights like Etherium, NXT, etc.?

We really need to take this to a whole new level!

@FK -- thank you for throwing down the gauntlet.  May many, many take it up -- and quickly!  :-)

102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 01, 2014, 01:10:40 PM
depositing to cryptsy right now. More support in the 0.004-range and low 0.005-range!

Keep calm and buy Uno.

I had sworn off any more buying, but I couldn't resist and I've now got about 1 BTC's worth of a buy order there @ .0047.  At this point it looks unlikely to get filled, but every once in a while a shark comes along and takes it down a whole bunch before resuming the generally bullish trend -- like it did on one 1-minute bar on the 27th.  I'm happy either way.

BTW, nice charts with all sorts of indicators and such at https://cryptrader.com/charts/cryptsy/uno/btc ...

I have faith, but recognize this could go under at any moment. Some super hidden flaw in the bitcoin technology, bamo. done. Little to no chance of it happening but still..

I hear ya.

One "super hidden flaw" is that government, war, etc. could "take down the internet" as we know it.  Should anything like that happen though, I imagine our missing UNOs and Bitcoins will be the least of our problems LOL.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: September 29, 2014, 12:43:51 PM
Uno's rally is entering it's fourth month.  Notice the recent strong volume.

Note the large volumes always seem to accompany buying -- the big down-spikes are low-volume.  Hmmm.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: September 29, 2014, 12:31:24 PM
I think it will be wise to continue mining UNO, if nothing more than to keep the network running.

So if everyone who's mining UNO today were to stop mining, UNO would cease to exist and be worthless?

An important factor to keep in mind is the future value of UNO will be much greater than the current day's mining reward.  The value should go parabolic at some point.

That's my thinking as well, as I imagine is everyone else's here who is long UNO for the long haul (to the mUn!).  However, I have to reflect that we *are* in somewhat uncharted waters here.  Crypto is pretty new after all, LOL.

What to mine -- profitably -- after the halving?

Edit: with SHA-256 ASICS.

if you want to mine and dump straight away there will be some bait and switch coins, but if you can afford to hold the coins you mine uno will still be the choice i think. Just my 2cents

Thanks, I've been mining since July 21st, but I've been buying a lot more than I've been mining.  As to the buying, I'm pretty much spent out -- made it to the top 10 rich list last week -- I need to take a breather. I'm keeping all my UNOs for the conceivable future, I'm not good at baiting and switching.   Wink

BW is Bryce Weiner, the lead Un developer and a principal at Blocktech.com the group behind Altmarket.com; and twittter cryptocurrency pundit @bryceweiner.
Blazr is Blazr2, Un's founder (and founder of several other coins), Un's senior developer and spiritual guru, respected cryptocurrency consultant and developer.

I was quite aware of Blazr/Blazr2, but not Bryce Weiner.  Thank you.

And to the mention of Blocktech.com, which I see has some interesting people working for them, including Vitalik Buterin of the Etherium project.

cryptsy wants higher volume for USD-market first:

https://twitter.com/Bit_John/status/515645438410891264

so, keep trading Wink

meanwhile maybe drop a tweet at https://twitter.com/jstcoin and ask for uno/euro market. Won't hurt us Wink

So volume is the criteria, not value?  OK, so why then are DOGE, LTC, etc. not paired at Cryptsy with the USD?
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: UNO for fiat is a very good possibility on Altmarket on: September 26, 2014, 11:48:26 PM
[BW sez]

"I would like to see UNO and XDQ traded for fiat, however we haven't made that decision yet.

We are registered w/ FinCEN and are legally able to trade fiat, but there's a lot that comes with it.

We're approaching fiat very, very slowly and in a very specific way.

When we do trade it, UNO for fiat is a very good possibility."

Who is BW?

I just sent Cryptsy a support ticket and asked for a Uno>USD market. Why don't you all do the same while we continue to discuss it here. To me it makes sense to start with Cryptsy, since most of us already trade there and they have supported Uno for a year. Let's ask them to help us with a USD market, and refer them back the discussion here to show them that there would be support for it.

Other options... C-cex at one time was going to add us and probably still would if we pushed. We're still ranked high in voting at C-cex. Also Bleutrade has a USD market and we already high in voting there, too. Neither allow deposits/withdrawal of USD as far as I know, just allowing trading.

I will also clarify with BW about USD plans for Altmarket. Maybe this is a problem that will soon resolve itself.

Thanks FK, great idea.  I just submitting this "feature request" to Cryptsy:

Quote
Hi, I noticed that not too long you added two altcoins for USD pairing (NXT and PPC). Please consider adding additional altcoin/USD pairs.

I am personally mostly interested in having a UNO/USD pair available.  I would very much like to be able to deposit USD into Cryptsy and then buy UNO directly with that instead of having to first buy BTC and then buying my UNO with that BTC, which is indirect and inconvenient.

If you were to add more altcoins, in particular UNO, to USD pairing, it would bring Cryptsy A LOT of new business -- especially with the value of BTC declining over the last nine months the way it has.

Thank you,

Jelks
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: September 26, 2014, 07:55:21 PM
we need fiat-exchange. bitcoin is in danger of tanking very badly. I'll be asking around. Let's see if we can get one going.

+1

Cryptsy allows you to *deposit* USD to buy BTC (albeit at quite a premium over buying at Coinbase and transferring the BTC over).  What's the problem with them just allowing clients to buy any old altcoin directly with said USD instead of having to go indirectly through BTC?

You say "bitcoin is in danger of tanking very badly".  If it does any further, the good news is that at least some of these exchanges will feel *forced* to allow direct altcoin buying with fiat.

What happened to http://switchpool.co.uk/?

It's been down for about 24 hours, can't be reached.  Is it gone for good???
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Mining pools on: September 22, 2014, 01:52:59 AM
[on uno.coin-pool.org being down]

I mine there as well and didn't notice. Thanks for the heads up. The UNO page does not work, but the main page coin-pool.org is still active.

Did you hear anything from them?

No, didn't hear anything back from them -- they probably haven't even seen my email yet and may not know the pool is down, it being the weekend and all.

However I remembered the new "switchpool.co.uk" announced here by FK and an ensuing discussion about it, so I checked them out (I *really* didn't like the idea of not being about to mine my favorite coin LOL).  Here is what I just posted in the Switchpool announcement thread here on BCT:

Quote
Had been using another pool (uno.coin-pool.org), but I noticed my 2 Antminer S3's reported that pool as "Dead" -- I checked them because I hadn't received any payouts in the last several days, plus their UNO web page always seemed to give me problems -- if I left it open for some time, it would (believe it or not) bring down my whole system!  Really, one web page in Chrome freezing the entire Windows 7 system *completely*Huh??

Anyway, I remember reading in the UNO thread about the http://switchpool.co.uk/ pool, remembered about the zero pool fee for UNO folks, and decided to check it out.

So far, I am quite impressed.  I can't believe more people aren't using this for UNO; as I type this, it looks like I'm the only UNO "worker" there (I do see where someone else was mining it for a couple of hours this morning).  Wow.

I also like how easy it is to set up:  just your UNO address as your user name, the stratum+tcp://switchpool.co.uk:3008 URL, and any old password.  No logins, registration and all that malarky.

I am curious as to whether you can set up separate worker names.  I've got 3 rigs: 2 Antminer S3's, and 1 "rig" consisting of 26 USB ASICs (all running under MultiMiner).  Can you do something like UNOaddress_Antminer1, UNOaddress_Antminer2, and UNOaddress_USBsticks, thus having 3 workers and being able to see how each "rig" is performing for UNO?  It's no big deal if you can't, the simplicity as it is is just fine with using just plain UNOaddress for each rig.

I'm gonna keep a close eye on this one, and pass on the word.

Thanks!

Jelks

Just added [Suspicious link removed] to the OP.

If you know of any other pools that should be on the list (or dead pools that should be removed), LMK.

It's not just a resource for miners, but also a contact list should we need to get in contact with miners.

Just sent the below email to info@coin-pool.org:

[subject: The UNO pool is down]

I had been getting 1-2 UNOs regularly every day from uno.coin-pool.org dumped into my wallet.  Then inexplicably it skipped Sept. 18th.  I then got ONE on the 19th.  Since then, nothing.

And I just noticed my 2 Antminers are reporting that "stratum+tcp://uno.coin-pool.org:3331" is "Dead".

My UNO address is

uPh3mybL1wrguTAuqBbbU3c5fvxcsMRE9Y

Any advice?

Thanks,

Jelks

This is ridiculous.

A few days ago, when people were talking about cheap UNO had become, I bought some BTC on Coinbase with USD (it's a LOT cheaper to buy it there compared to Cryptsy) and then moved them over to Cryptsy in order to buy some UNO with that BTC.

Went out on the town, came back, and UNO had started taking off.  So I decided to wait for a fallback.

So here it is now, BTC is continuing to plunge below $400 USD, whereas UNO's USD price at CoinmarketCap.com hovers around $1.90 USD!

Don't think I want to spend cheap BTC on UNO.  When and where are we going to be able to buy UNO for USD directly?

Take a look at this chart:  http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/unobtanium/#charts

There will be times when Unobtanium, through no fault of its own, will just need to pick itself up and move on.

Though no vault of its own?

Just put in a plug for UNO in the "What are your top 5 altcoins" thread at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=439341.new#new.

There are 14 pages in that thread so far, only saw one mention of UNO besides mine.  There are the usual suspects (LTC, PPC, NMC, NXT, DOGE, etc.) plus a bunch of sh*tcoins.  UNO is still so way under the radar.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are your top 5 altcoins - in order? on: September 07, 2014, 02:58:43 PM
1. Unobtanium
2. Peercoin
3. Namecoin
4. Bitcoin  (yes, it's not an altcoin)

These are the only four I am mining (NMC through merged mining), plus I have bought BTC with USD and UNO with BTC.

UNO is my number one favorite.
