101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Physical Bitcoin Shop in Port Harcourt (Nigeria) on: December 19, 2022, 08:41:18 AM

What I don't understand is the rate they sold bitcoin for you, most of the physical vendors would sell at high prices considering the risk they are taking and buy at lower prices, currently dollar to Naira is traded around #750/$ but you were able to buy at a cheap rate or are they doing some kind of discount sales especially now that we have December at the corner.

My biggest surprise too, maybe they are actually doing it to lure in more customers just because its a new business. At this rate it will attract many bitcoiners. But why worry is how they tend to gain at that rate, do they have a way they get there own bitcoin bought at bank rate (1$=₦450).

Concerning robbery or other theft issues I think they could do with a security force around if it's a romote. Since the government is relaxing it's strict rules against crypto currency I see them not encountering difficulties in the business, hopefully the next government doesn't go back to banning it.
102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) Can't Be Stopped on: December 18, 2022, 09:30:12 AM
I have always had this feeling that the FTX saga/scam will be tagged to bitcoin by its fud spreaders. Even the hype of this FTX is strongly spread by Government officials who want to put a stop to crypto currency. they have strike in every direction to stop (even the creation of CBDC) but to no avail. The worst they could try to do is regulate it because even other countries that tried to ban it have experienced its massive adoption by their citizens. They should rather find a way to call scammers like Sam of FTX to order when saga like this are pull off
103  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges charging for inactive accounts . Do you support this ? on: December 18, 2022, 07:14:22 AM
That’s one of the reasons not to fully rely on crypto exchanges with your funds. This is definitely not right and I don’t support it at all. They make a lot of money from transactions made on the use of their platform and they’re not suppose to bill their users just the way they like again for keeping money in their exchange. This will undoubtedly deter people from venturing in cryptocurrency. I'm hoping that this will raise awareness among cryptocurrency users to only store their funds in centralized exchanges and to avoid exchanges like this one.
104  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: December 18, 2022, 06:33:15 AM

Please how we go take make our naira appear mint for eyes? Cos many of Nigerians no get wallet, talk more of making use of one, at least to put their money inside am. Na soso money squeezing wey many d do. And dem no send how the naira be. I think sae, the awareness of keeping the naira notes in a purse or wallet should be raised. At least make we d see our naira notes in neat form(mint)

That one no be big matter oo my brother. Squeezing of money for naija na normal tin for market people besides even if them dy use wallet sef d money no fit contain am all, so make them dey drop am for where go better pass but make dem dey handle the naira more gently. Even me wey no dey market no dey fancy wallet again after wetin don happen to me in d past with am, I lost all my money I kept in d wallet, cards and other important things. Since then na my pocket I dey put tins direct come split them to different pockets to avoid total loss of everything. I no blame people wey no dey use wallet at all.
105  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just can't get my eyes off my wallet. on: December 18, 2022, 06:01:37 AM

My mind is telling me that it is not normal since I want to be a long-time investor. I also observe that a drop in price makes me scared, while a rise gives me the opposite feeling.

I want to know if there is an average number of times a new investor should check his wallet and how can I change my behavior if it is abnormal. Thank you in advance for your helpful responses.

The Anxiety is real mate, although you might have read few things about bitcoin or heard some of its good things from people, a new investor like you will still be nervous and check everytime to clear the doubt of whether you made the right choice to invest in it. Its normal considering we are even in a bearish period. Do not anticipate any bad things because with bitcoin yours funds won't lose value (if truly you invested them in bitcoin). But if feel too scared about losing then my advice is take money off it and invest that which is worth losing for you to clear off your doubts. Then go do more research about bitcoin and I am sure you will come back comfortably.
But overall it isn't a bad thing to check everyday but the intention of seeing it rise or drop on every check drives off one's serenity

We could sing alot to people that bitcoin and cryptocurrency isn't a quick to get rich scheme but they will never aid. Although bitcoin is a store of value but there is also profit attached when you buy low and hold for a long time, this was how the early adopters got some profit off it, the new investors now are still looking into earn this profits for themselves but at a short time. This has lead sinr to either invest in shit coins or take drastic decisions when there are into future trading. I personally dont warn these set of greedy people off it because I feel they deserve to learn the hard way sometimes. But my only concern is the tagging of bitcoin by the losers as a ponzi schemes to potential investors.

Although one could pick valuable or important points from peoples opinion to add to his own personal idea but I do not trust informations regarding bitcoin predictions from this so called social media. They are all guesses and some could not pay off. They have been people that builds on this opinions and end losing there entire savings into some shit coins or during bitcoin future trading.
Nobody is a genius on this crypto space so DYOR and learn from your own mistakes
108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AI answer to how can bitcoin price drop to 0$ on: December 17, 2022, 12:19:31 PM
ChatGPT doesn't actually have is own opinion it relies on the answers collected from past questions in same or similar discussions to provide an answer. It outrightly doesn't need to be trusted for live opinion.
The ChatGPT sometimes outrightly tells that is own opinion might be wrong. As for this discussion it will easily get the answers since its a wide discussion even in the forum. But it opinion shouldn't be used as a benchmark for investments like bitcoin it Could well miss lead people to bad investment.
109  Economy / Economics / Re: Central Bank of Nigeria to limit cash withdrawals on: December 17, 2022, 11:43:46 AM
This cash withdrawal cap will actually have a positive impact on Nigeria's economic system. It will also enhance cashless policies, exposing many Nigerians to blockchain technology. Perhaps for this reason, the Nigerian government wanted to teach some of its citizens about blockchain technology and may have used this as a test to gauge public interest in it. Additionally, this policy will lessen money laundering and corruption in the nation.

This is exactly what I believe is the reason for all of this. Nigeria's economy requires serious improvement, and this step is a good one to help with that. I hope the government is successful in this endeavor for the benefit of all citizens. I wish it could really expose Nigerians to blockchain technology since the government is showing little interest in it recently.

When the state sees that the circulation of money is not good or there is too much it will cause inflation so that the central bank will limit cash withdrawals, this is a common and commonly used strategy, when they see conditions have improved then this limit is immediately removed.

I hope it improves for the course of the nation at large, the country really needs it and really needs to act on it as soon as possible. Many cases of corruption and money laundering have need the case of Nigeria for the past 20 years, I hope a change of that narrative will come now.
110  Economy / Reputation / Re: It sucks that 1xbit still runs on: December 17, 2022, 10:27:52 AM
Aside from this forum, 1xbit is a very large gambling site with a lot of advertising on different platforms. Given that gambling is not moderated in this forum, I'm not sure if users who have been given negative tags continue to promote them because they won't be allowed into any other campaign by many of the managers here.

Do most users there receive negative feedback from the campaign due to their inexperience as newbies, or do some still get accepted despite receiving negative feedback from the forum for something else they did? Because if they are still accepted after receiving negative feedback from the forum, those users who are accepted there will have no regrets for their actions that caused them to be tagged.
111  Other / Meta / Re: Is word to word copy paste allowed ? on: December 17, 2022, 10:15:02 AM
I am talking about this post where the writer does not write anything himself. Just copy and paste a few paragraphs from the article and the link to the source, no effort done and creates a post that look like a quality post with zero effort.

Does not it come under plagiarism?

Post Link  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=232519.msg61456271#msg61456271

Plagiarism is defined as the act of copying someone else's work and ideas without fully acknowledging the person. In this case, the user provided the source of the news, so it cannot be considered plagiarized because the owner was cited.

In other cases, even if you cite the original author, copying his words and pasting them into yours is considered plagiarism. This is mostly applicable to the educational sector. This is a forum where we're all here to learn and be enlightened; we don't need that strict rule that applies to educational institutions here.
112  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: For them it's always about the money on: December 15, 2022, 07:05:47 PM
There is no YouTuber or anyone with a large fan base who is not aware of what they do for the projects they discuss on their page. You’d believe me that most of them are aware of what the project entails and the likelihood of the project's success or failure. But they've been paid to say what they say, so I don't blame them. You can find a few honest people who own a page and want to promote it with good projects. Just make sure you’re always skeptical of the bitcoin market.
113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: December 15, 2022, 12:44:25 PM
I don't think either Ronaldo or Messi will get away from football completely after their retirements. These are legends who love football very much and we can understand this from their passion to play for longer years still. I think we would definitely see them both as managers or having some other roles at some big teams maybe.

These teams might even be Real Madrid and Barcelona which would be really great to see. It would be lovely to see these legends competing against each other again there.  Smiley

Both have definitely itched there names into the greatest of the game. I see Ronaldo easily becoming a manager, this has been proven from his on field motivational speeches but for Messi it will be a huge surprise, dude is too shy to take up that role but both have vast experience to share to up coming generations. Although there illustrious playing carrier does not guarantee them to be successful managers should they venture on day into it
Messi and PSG are favorites for the title this season. They also showed great football last year, but allowed themselves to be tricked in the decisive moments. Manchester City is also good, but you cannot compare it to PSG in the front. A mutual confrontation would be nice, but we have not seen that in recent years. Real Madrid are an outsider, but often rise above themselves in the CL, resulting in a sensational win over Liverpool last season. And in that match they turned out to be very stable. Liverpool will not win the CL this season.

PSG and man City have both been great this season but its early to start tagging them favourites. The competition will resume after the world finals and we will see maybe they will keep same momentum. PSG has a big test against Bayern and it will be a handful of test for them, until then I am not making any predictions.

Again do not rule out Liverpool because of there bad first half of the season. Many clubs have won this competition playing poorly for the first half of the season. Chelsea's last champions league triumph is a case study
114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 15, 2022, 12:30:12 PM

Morocco have been solid from the beginning of the tournament. But I wasn’t impressed with their performance yesterday. They have always remained compact and strike on the counter, what happened to that game plan and why must it be changed against a team that has a very sharp attack? They weren’t organized defensively against France. Maybe I’ll blame it on injuries to the first choice backline. Besides that, I’m happy for them for being the first African team in the World Cup semi finals. It’s a record that might not be broken.

If you weren't impressed with them yesterday then you definitely didn't watch the match. It's true Morocco loves to sit back and counter but this is done only when you are winning or the game is tied. Yesterday Morocco conceded five minutes into the game, do you say they continue to defend rather than look for a goal. Yesterday's first goal disorganised and shattered Morocco's tactics whereas France played into it by sitting back. Morocco's persistent attack actually caused the second goal but I wouldn't blame them for that either. They should be proud of their selves and go all out to battle for the third place.

Argentina has quite a lot of rest time than France. There is therefore no time for France to declare players injured or suffer any setbacks. It would be a shame if FIFA gave France more time to rest so they could better prepare themselves after yesterday's match. Argentina was much better prepared in the final, but France is also looking to surprise a lot. Closing Messi's movement early is the preferred choice. It's hard to predict who will lift the trophy because both of them are the same team that deserves to win the world cup this season.

After the early goal yesterday you will see France trying to sit back a little bit to conserve energy for the final. My biggest worry yesterday was the continuous knock theo  Hernandez and other attackers were receiving, I hope it doesn't affect them. France biggest worry certainly has to be how to contain messi, something that is looking near impossible in the world of football. If France could get Rabiot back in the final he will be a big help against Messi in that midfield.
115  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving one third what you earn monthly is not that hard, isn't it ? on: December 14, 2022, 09:34:08 PM
This is very possible where I live, and you can even save more if you want. In comparison to some of the country's larger cities, the cost of living is low where I am now. If I can earn that much in my twenties, I should have my own house and car by my thirties. In comparison to other parts of the country, you can still earn this amount in my country's big cities and not have enough to save till your 30s, but I believe it all depends on how you plan your life for the future. One important aspect of life today is to save as much as you spend, or better still, invest in something profitable.
116  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: December 14, 2022, 09:17:46 PM
All Nigeria government does is to worsten things for the common man. All these ones wey dem dey do,e no go affect them o because if na cashless policy, them politicians go still dey spray money and go even dey carry large sum of money waka. If u check CBN rules, dem say anything above the daily limit, you go pay some percentage and these bastard politicians go pay all those charge fee becos money dey.

I know say dem talk so neh so that dem go fit dey task those big politicians join too but the thing no go affect dem at all because they’ve the money for it. But still d policy go limit them to the large amount of money denomination wey go dey their possession because dem CBN no go too print N500 and N1000 naira notes plenty like before. All dis na to make naira get value, make we hope say the aim go set achieve make e better for our country all.
117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 14, 2022, 06:14:04 PM

If you follow Croatia more closely, you wouldn't be that surprised. I'm Croatian so I always follow our national team matches. The problem with Croatian national team is that they tend to fall apart in situations like yesterday's penalty and especially after the second goal. After that goal it was pretty much all over for Croatia. They tried attacking more in the beginning of the second half but that only opened them to Argentina's counter attacks which resulted in the third goal. Luckily there weren't more goals scored by Argentina because that would make very hard for a Croatian team to rise up for the bronze medal match.

I think that Morocco is more dangerous for France than Croatia was for Argentina. They play super defensive football. It's not easy to attack against a team that is concentrated only on defense. However, one goal in Morocco's net should be enough reason for them to open up and then I guess we will watch an interesting match.

Both Morocco and Croatia have almost similar pattern in this world Cup, there strongest position have been the midfield and defence, although Morocco are slightly better in attack than them. But i see Morocco finding it hard to defend there goal today because an electricified Mbappe will cause the defence some problem.
Where Morocco might have an edge today is the midfield because of the absence of Rabiot, he has been instrumental this world Cup so I see space opening for Amrabat to exploit in the match
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the smart choice not the entire crypto industry on: December 14, 2022, 06:02:37 PM
what I disagree with is the huge allocation of capital those people decide to assign to altcoins,

Its simple, these set of investors aren't into crypto space to probably hedge against inflation or for all the benefits bitcoin has but just for profits. Although bitcoin also brings profits but not massively like some of these shit coins. People want to invest few thousands for a profit of millions and this so called altcoins promises this. You use the Terra luna coin for a case study you will notice that it pumped high and people got lots of income and this lure more people to invest almost there life savings in it and then the crash happened.
Although some of these altcoins have holds of staying up for sometime but I don't see them been hand picked for future investments
119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 14, 2022, 01:55:15 PM

Even without Messi, it doesn't mean Argentina can't win the World Cup in the future. There are many young Argentine players who can become good players, for example Thiago Almada, Julian Alvarez. even though they are not top stars players like Messi, but in the future who knows they can lead Argentina to win the World Cup.

It is very hard to speculate on the future but looking at this current Argentina team I don't see them even progressing beyond group stage without messi, if you look at Argentina record with and without messi the stats shows they hardly win matches without him. Argentina have always been a country that relies on individual brilliance that's y there greatest success was during the time of Maradona of the blessed memory and subsequently now with messi. If Messi do retires after this then Argentina will pray to have a player with same characteristics of these but without that then it will be hard. I am not disputing the fact  that there exciting players coming up but Argentina doesn't do well as a collective team.

I believe those Croatian players will surely be disappointed in themselves, there is nothing bad to lose to a good team like Argentina, but to lose 3-0 in a world cup semifinal is embarrassing, and i am sure they know they let down millions of their fans that were watching back home in Croatia.

Although Croatia were bad yesterday at defense and attack which resulted into the heavy defeat but they have every right to raise there head up because they have done well. These current set of Croatia players needs to be idolised and given a national award. A team been so underrated going to a back to back semi finals isn't just luck but share brilliance and determination that only deserves maximum recognition.
120  Other / Off-topic / Re: Messi is closer to his dream on: December 14, 2022, 01:34:50 PM
I feel like he will not pass this chance and gonna strike bullseye this cup. I wish Moroccans would beat France so Messi can help Argentina beat Morocco. France is very tough team to crack even for Messi. Or whole Argentina team. I really want Messi to achieve his World Cup dream this tournament. I believe he will be counted as one of the best football players in whole football history. But he needs world cup to be counted among legends.

I go with your view that an Argentina vs France Final will be tougher to through for messi than Morocco. Morocco might have beaten favourites to get to this point but I don't see them edging pass Argentina should they progress to the final. France on the other hand will prove a test too much for Argentina in the final.

Concerning the legendary status I think messi is already a legend regardless of how the final turns out. He has won seven player of the year award that already is legendary. But wining the most prestigious trophy will only cement his title as the Greatest of all time
