101  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you stake on a potential(obvious) loosing team just for love? on: March 16, 2024, 09:53:20 PM
We all know that football is a game of passion and entertainment be it that your team win or losses yet we still keep supporting them but not when money is involved.

Football is really a game of passion and we see different strange behaviors and actions being displayed by supporters in weird ways of showing support.
But I haven’t yet met anyone that would be willing to part away with money to place bets that is most likely to come out not in his favor. When a scenario where parting of money is involved, we tend to think more clearly unless of course we’re thinking out of a place of greed.
We could buy loads of merch in show of support but placing bets when the outcome is obviously isn’t in your favor in a show of support is quite unheard of.
102  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you believe in savings or investment on: March 16, 2024, 02:07:18 PM
Savings can only make you wealthy while invest can make you wealthy and protect your wealth.

So if people only know savings, their wealthy will keep declining after they stop to work because their money won't surpass the inflation rate and your monthly bills.

I don’t think having just your savings no matter how much it is would make one wealthy. Perhaps a little rich but definitely not wealthy. Problems which could arise from time to time would have to be solved and what better place to take money from than your Savings? With only your savings, one cannot be wealthy.
Investments on the other hand like you noted, protects and grows your income thereby steadily increasing your wealth. Your savings in the bank would surely be affected with the steady increase in prices over the years and the purchasing power won’t be as strong as when you first put it in the bank decades ago.

You’ll need to think of several avenues to have your savings stocked up in the bank start to generate more income for you. That’s how to attain wealth.
103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Is Legal In Our Country But if You Promote It Online You'll Go To Jail? on: March 16, 2024, 08:43:50 AM
I don’t know about the law being right or wrong. It’s certainly crazy that an activity that’s legal and allowed in a country cannot be talked about online. You could gamble all you want but talk about it online and face punishment of fines or jail term and in some cases, both.
I can understand the aim of the law to the general populace but if the law maker feels so strongly about gambling and all it entails, won’t it be better to put forward laws that would place stringent restrictions that would curtail gambling? Perhaps such strict laws won’t get enough support in order to pass.

Well, this would certainly help curb gambling online and greatly reduce its visibility to minors and young adults online.
104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: March 16, 2024, 02:44:22 AM
The idea of a "gambling career" is a carefully crafted illusion.  Those streamers you see, hawking their luck at online casinos? They're not winners; they're shills, actors in a play funded by the very casinos they promote. Their income comes from tricking viewers, not from defying the odds.

In my opinion, there isn’t anything like a career made and gotten from gambling as gambling isn’t a career nor a job opportunity. People seem to think you could make a living by earning money gotten from gambling but that is simply not true. People could be fooled by ads put out by so called “influencers” looking to make a quick buck and wouldn’t actually care about what they’re selling to their followers.
I don’t think it’s actually possible to make a living from gambling. You could win some good amounts of money but you would definitely lose probably an even bigger amount as well. That isn’t a career. You don’t lose money in an actual career they way money is lost on gambling.
105  Economy / Economics / Re: When luxury becomes a necessity. on: March 14, 2024, 11:26:06 PM
Exactly! that's why the rest of us purchase expensive items because the quality of something is more important to us and it will help make our work easier and better, especially if it's related to our work or source of income. People are becoming more selective in choosing things to buy, especially if they notice that they spend more when they buy cheap things.

Not every goods that have quality are expensive but you can say all expensive goods have a certain high quality. And that’s why people spend more money for goods and services with higher quality. Buying an expensive laptop cause of its capabilities Isn’t necessarily considered luxury.
I think people have been and are always being selective when choosing what and how to purchase quality goods/or services   I do not quite understand how one can spend more when purchasing cheap and lower quality product. Perhaps you mean after buying cheap and substandard products, it won’t be long before heading over to the store to get another one while a sound and quality product could last you for a longer period of time.
106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 13, 2024, 11:58:13 PM
Their problems are pretty obvious, how can you score three goals in the first half and still loose the game? Did they relent in trying to score goals, or did Bournemouth improve much in the second half. I feel it is a bit of both, because yes Bournemouth improved, but if Luton town have still tried to score they would have because they have been able to score goals against the big teams in the premier League. They were excited about leaving the relegation zone before finishing the task. If they survive this season, they will have to find a fix for their defensive challenges.

Perhaps Luton town became too relaxed as they had scored three goals to give them a good lead over their opponents and all in the first half of the game. They didn’t see Bournemouth equalizing and coming back from being three goals down. I sure didn’t see them equalizing and scoring three goals in the second half but they did just that and scored another to give them the win.
I think Luton town didn’t have a reliable defense as they had put it more effort in their attacks and that’s why they had conceded more goals than their opponents and lost the game.
107  Economy / Economics / Re: If being a graduate is the key to being wealthy, why are there poor graduates? on: March 13, 2024, 11:23:20 PM
Anyone who thinks education is a major key to wealth is a lier, on a scale of 100 education is just 30 and in this 30, 20 is just your enlightenment on the field you aspire for while the 10 packages you to be more learned and think smartly than an illiterate.

Education is important and one needs it amongst other things to attain and keep wealth. On my scale of importance, I’ll give education an 80 out of 100. A quality education doesn’t just impact knowledge into you, it reshapes your behavior and could alter one’s way of thinking for the better only if that person is open to learning and ready to change.
But admittedly, completing your colleague education doesn’t necessarily get you wealthy. No sane person would think a college degree would, on its own generate wealth.
108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indirect victims of gambling addiction on: March 13, 2024, 10:51:31 PM
Yes the one who would be most affected are those who depends on the gambler, if they already have kids the kids would be the one who would feel the consequences of the addicted gambler because of thet would struggle financially.
I agree that parents would surely be affected but not as much as the gamblers kids, sometimes they would even be made fun because of it in short they could also be bullied due to their parents gambling addiction.

Admittedly, the immediate family of the addicted gambler which includes the wife and children, would bear most of the brunt of his addiction.  They’re going to slowly feel the drastic change/decline in their standard of living as the addicted gambler who provides for the family continues to lose more and more money due to gambling.
The immediate family may also be the subject of ridicule as the addicted gambler, being recognized and known by society as an addict would be subject to ridicule and side talks by the town folks.

The indirect victims of an addict would be lengthy as it does affect almost everyone you come in contact with.
109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you stake on a potential(obvious) loosing team just for love? on: March 13, 2024, 04:59:29 PM

Question: Can you have so much love for your team to behave like this guy that even when you know your love fans team would loose a match, would you still further stake on the match against your team?
Remember that we are catching funs here and whoever chasing after profits is at its own will.

You’re literally throwing away money at this point. That’s not being supportive to the club you support, that’s being downright foolish.
Knowing fully well your club has no chance of winning a match and still go ahead to place bets on them winning is crazy. Personally, I wouldn’t place a bet on the club I support if I perceive the opponent to be much stronger.

Placing a bet on a club to win a game they ordinarily wouldn’t isn’t supporting the club, you’re supporting the casino you played at and losing some money in the process.
110  Economy / Economics / Re: Insurance is important on: March 13, 2024, 09:11:42 AM

In developed country people have a good monthly salary thats why they actually can ignore insurance but when it comes to developing country insurance gives protection from financial loss in their lives. you know everything is uncertain in our lives. if you are a businessman then you can't guarantee that your business will never see any loss. An insurance company provides financial support at that time. In less developed countries, insurance plays a vital role in providing financial support. In less developed countries, businessmen need more financial support at every moment, cause their backbone is not much stronger. you know it also contributes to our economy.

On the contrary, people who are living in developed countries and also earning a good sum are more likely to have insurance for themselves and their business. They know just how vital insurance is to your health, business and properties and as they can afford it, they’re more likely to pay for it.

While people living in developing with a lower standard of living wouldn’t necessarily have insurance. They may know how important having insurance is but they just can’t afford to part away with the little money they’ve got. The wealthy ones can comfortably afford to have insurance but the average income earner would probably not be able to.
111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Management on: March 11, 2024, 11:58:37 PM
I often run out of funds due to gambling that is too blind in terms of placing $$ on every bet I make and ends up losing. I do multi-bets and single-bets, every time I win, sometimes I forget myself and use all my $$ on the next bet. This sometimes gives me big wins, but if I'm unlucky I can lose all my funds and this has happened many times.

I can understand the urge to increase the the amount being placed on a bet when you’re on a winning streak. But it’s definitely not wise to keep on betting with the total amount won in hopes of having a much bigger win than previously won.
The enthusiasm gotten after having constant wins could lead an undisciplined gambler to start being careless with his bets and without much thought of losing out on all he’d won. Hence the need to have a plan before gambling and the discipline to follow through on your plans.
112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 11, 2024, 11:29:16 PM
The match is still ongoing and it's getting more interesting again.
The position right now:
Chelsea vs Newcastle : 3 - 2

Now it is extra time, and Newcastle added the score in the 90th minute. So, Chelsea had to remain alert until the match ended. Because Newcastle is also becoming increasingly on fire to catch up. No one can be careless here.

The game was surely interesting and quite active as both teams struggled to have the win. Chelsea had a good start in the game as they started and led with an early goal.
Newcastle did try to equalize but Chelsea managed to hold on and didn’t relent on their defense till the final whistle. Newcastle had likely hoped to end the game with a draw as they strived to score another goal during the final moments of the game. It was a good and well deserved win for Chelsea.

I really had no expectations from Chelsea to win the game but the outcome certainly surprised me.
113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 11, 2024, 01:59:45 AM

Arsenal are now dominating the Premier League table, but I am confident they will tumble down because they like doing that since last season, they are not ready to win the title. Arteta is coaching well but whenever they are topping the league table, they will start playing weak games in some matches their next match will be with Chelsea, but they postponed it. now they will face Manchester City, and the match won't be easy for Arsenal to win, but anything can happen because Arsenal got the advantage to win the first leg, let's see if they will get the opportunity to win Manchester City again, but I know Guadiola will not make mistakes to lose against Arteta anymore, because how Manchester City play against Liverpool today you will know guadiola still need the premier league trophy.

You’re confident on Arsenal losing its first place spot in the league table just cause of how it went down towards the end of last season. Also, you can’t in reality say they’re not ready to win the title. They’re sitting at the top spot presently and have fought and played hard to get there. They sure look like a team that’s trying to win the league to me.
I also don’t think Arteta would make the same mistakes he did last season. After almost having the win in his grasps and losing it, he would likely tighten his grip this time around.

It’s getting more exciting as every team is gearing up and making plans in trying to win games and claim as much points as they can.
114  Economy / Economics / Re: World changing and those who don't adopt this Will stay poor on: March 10, 2024, 06:14:58 PM

Despite all of these implementation,it will still be very difficult to escape from poverty. The world is vastly changing and most people can still decide to stay poor instead of improving and developing themselves.
Whether predictions or no predictions, the system is changing vigorously and it takes only the brave ones to survive and adapt to the present trend of the economy.

If people willingly decide to stay poor instead of trying to improve and develop themselves despite policies being put in place that actually works, then it’s no fault of anyone else but themselves.
Change is something that would definitely come and we should welcome it instead of shying away from it. It doesn’t take just the brave ones to adapt and survive, it takes the ones that are able and willing to adapt so as to survive.
It may be difficult to increase your standard of living due to various reasons, but one who’s willing could do just that and much more.
115  Economy / Economics / Re: Banking on people's ideas, visions, and talents. on: March 10, 2024, 04:24:26 PM

What do you think?

People can have a brilliant idea but lack the resources to bring it into reality. That’s majorly why people head over to the bank for a loan. There are people that are not so fortunate to be born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Such individuals would lack the finances or/ a low credit score that would hinder taking loans from the bank to fulfill brilliant ideas that they may regularly have.

Even in an organization, the CEOs of big organizations would do well as they normally do, to recognize brilliant employees that are innovative and bring ideas that would enable the organization meet and surpass its set goals and objectives. I think we’re all different with something unique to offer.
116  Economy / Economics / Re: Is fossil fuels REALLY running out quickly, or do we still have time? on: March 10, 2024, 03:48:05 PM
I think fossil fuels could be depleted and it really is running out as with the discovery of oil as an energy source, we’ve for decades, continuously searched and used up oil deposits for our numerous energy uses.
We’re using these resources a lot faster than they could be naturally replicated so it’s very possible it could be totally depleted someday. And as our energy uses continue to grow exponentially, that day could be sooner than originally anticipated.

I think there’s a genuine need to embrace renewable energy.  I know change could be difficult to accept but isn’t an energy source that could could be renewed much better than one that could be depleted? People would resist change and would invent several theories in a bid to push back on the change being proposed.
117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has this ever happened to you as a gambler? on: March 10, 2024, 03:04:16 PM

So the question now is: What could really put a gambler in such a situation, addiction, or greediness?

In my opinion, I would sum it all up to addiction to gambling.  With addiction, all other negative emotions and feelings are bound to follow sooner.
An addicted gambler would be greedy, selfish and desperate. Such an individual would be bound to do just about anything to keep playing in false unrealistic high expectations of wining some good money. Such people are not strangers to selling off their properties for cash to satisfy the deep urge to gamble and would sell, steal and creates various schemes in order to get the money to gamble.

I ordinarily don’t get surprised when I come upon acts like this but addicts continue to come up with new and surprising ideas for getting money to satisfy their desires.
118  Economy / Economics / Re: Keeping money and keeping bitcoins? are they similar? on: March 10, 2024, 02:17:11 PM
The massive awareness to keep bitcoins for as long as possible promotes people to develop the attitude of saving, just like saving money. Do you agree with this that people who are very good at saving money become very good at keeping bitcoins when they finally start doing cryptocurrency? Or do you feel that there is no similarity between keeping bitcoins and keeping money?

I think to a large extent, people that are very good at saving fiat could be as good when saving and holding bitcoin. And perhaps the possibility of holding bitcoins for a long period of time could also have an effect on how people could hold and save fiat as well.
And yes, I think the awareness to hold bitcoin for the long run promotes the idea of savings in fiat as well. There’s a similarity as both bitcoins and fiat currency are both valuable and a form of currency as well. Getting the zeal to hold one could also help extend that zeal to hold the other as well.
119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does possessing information play an important role in betting ? on: March 10, 2024, 01:34:23 PM
Having a lot information is better than gamble randomly without any information, but both of them doesn't influence the results as long as you're not the player, not the coach, or anyone who contribute to the player/team.

I don’t think you really need to be among the staff, players or coaching team to be able to know or try to correctly predict the outcome of a game.
With the right and adequate information being placed in the right hands, the outcome could be predicted and quite correctly too. But sometimes in football, even with the right information and conditions, the outcome could come out not like the way it was predicted or planned but it also doesn’t negate the effectiveness of having the right and adequate information.
120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 10, 2024, 12:51:40 PM
I would have chosen Manchester City to win over Liverpool but judging by where the match is to take place makes me have a second thought about which team wins, because Liverpool will do all they can to make sure they have a draw in their match against Manchester City at least despite featuring their young stars, keeping some of their main players aside because injury.

Few hours to the match. Tension is rising about which teams take the lead in the premier league table(Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City)

Both teams are strong teams and not to be underestimated in any way. But Liverpool playing at home doesn’t necessarily make them the better side that could have the win in the game.
Liverpool would obviously do all they can to win the game and perhaps, playing at home could give them some sort of advantage but definitely not enough to give them the win. They’re playing against Manchester City, which is a team I would consider to be a better side in this match.

I’m predicting a City win but I also wouldn’t hold my breath as this is football where the outcome could go either way. Both sides though could each score a goal.
