101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tornado Cash Developer Was Convicted and jailed on: May 18, 2024, 09:42:08 AM
It's not the first time we are seeing attacks on anything that has to do with decentralisation. The governments especially US government does not like anything that is beyond there control.

They get nervous any time they hear about a decentralised crypto project, it usually seems some one is about to drag power with them and I believe that Satoshi would have been jailed if he was know just as they are failing the few people who didn't hide their identity while creating a decentralised protocol.

I think Alex made a huge mistake for showing his identity, he should have learn from Satoshi who knew how the government will react when they find something like bitcoin and disappeared till date, if Alex was hide to an extent I guess he would have escaped all these sentences.
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: exchange monero for fiat on: May 18, 2024, 09:18:06 AM
Basically, since monero coin has been delisted in almost all centralised exchanges or infact has been removed from centralised exchanges you should probably use a decentralised exchange.

I'm not a promoter of any exchange but you can try the one that is advertised here in the forum like Exch. Since it's a non KYC exchange it will be good for you apparently.

You can also search for another non KYC exchange that you find comfortable that convert you monero coin into any stable coin then you can move to your favourite exchange for fiat.
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When investing in Bitcoin: what to consider? on: May 17, 2024, 11:20:17 PM
I know a lot of people most have contributed enough or have mentioned what I want to say in one way or the other one consideration which must be put in place before investing in bitcoin or while investing in bitcoin.
One major thing to consider is having a good source of income. One must be well to do with his or her income to venture into bitcoin because I don't expect anyone wanting to invest in bitcoin to it in all her income into it as it discourages long term Hodling which is always a primary goal.

Another thing that must be put in place is emergency funds that could last for at least 3-6 months hence one would have nothing to do with his or her investments for a short period of time instead it will be sad to holding for a very long term hence profit will be guaranteed.

We must not forget also one of the most important thing which is security and self custody. In storing your assets a self custodian wallet is most advisable and an open source wallet like electrum.
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can we increase the awrarness level for Bitcoin adoption on: May 17, 2024, 11:05:12 PM
Personally I don't think bitcoin needs any more awareness to be created whether in the rural areas or urban areas, bitcoin does not need advertisement anymore as it has already made its way out to an extent.

As time goes on even without people advertising or creating awareness through any of the known means bitcoin will keep prevailing as it is the father of all other cryptocurrencies that are busy shaking the internet for fame as they keep struggling so bitcoin is reaching the remote areas too. Infact in technological advancement it takes just some years before the world advances into it. So I believe in a few times/years coming bitcoin knowledge will reach every part of the world. Note; knowledge spreads so bitcoin knowledge will also spread.
105  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dips are temporary but Bitcoin is forever. on: May 17, 2024, 10:52:49 PM
There is no better way to put this out here, DIPs are an integral part of Bitcoin that's a function of its volatility that should be embraced in a good way. It's just a temporary correction that gives intending holders the ability to buying Bitcoin at a much cheaper rate. The fact that it is caused by factors like market sentiment, regulatory uncertainty, macroeconomics indicators, speculations etc goes to show to a very large extent that it's just a temporary thing while Bitcoin in itself stays forever even after those correction.

Buy Bitcoin before the DIP, buy during the DIP, and buy after the DIP. Bitcoins isn't going anywhere anytime soon but most DIPs will be long gone and long gone for good. There are so many DIP price you can't buy Bitcoin at but you will always have those Bitcoin you bought during the DIP at an higher worth in the future, cease every opportunity of buying during the DIP, buy as much as you can at the moment cause DIPs are temporary but Bitcoin stays forever.
Investors who really knows how bitcoin works does not seem the dips of bitcoin as problem but an opportunity to grasp and leverage on. In my own terms bitcoin dips are discounts that bitcoin gives to us in order for people to hold on to it and make a good profit out of it.

Bitcoin is one of the assets that have amazed me so much, it gives everyone the opportunity to move from one social status to a other in a matter of time, if only one can take the responsibility to handle his or her assets then they will make good profit of bitcoin.
106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can a newbie make investment before learning? on: May 17, 2024, 09:30:10 PM
As on my own opinion alot of newbies have fallen in to hand of scammers because of their insufficient knowledge about Bitcoin so therefore it take a high risk to make an investment when you yet to understand the Bitcoin investment to avoid been scammed of your hard earnings
Take your time learn and implement before you inter market or make any investment as a newbie
Let's not make the line between investment and knowledge too extensive. One can invest with out proper knowledge of what he or she is investing on and one can still have a proper knowledge yet not invest. It's vise visa.

If you have the capital why not invest and long the line of your investment you are learning already. Some people invested in bitcoin with out a proper knowledge all the knowledge was how to buy bitcoin in an exchange along the line of having bitcoin somewhere they got interested in knowing how to maximise the opportunity they had which is the learning we are talking about hence the knowledge is in the process of purchasing.

Some benefits of knowledge about bitcoin or having a proper knowledge of it is just be sharing your knowledge or teaching people about it for payment, just as we that participate in a campaign we are examples of people who benefit from having bitcoin knowledge before investing in it though I'm not generalizing this statements because some invested before finding the forum.
107  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Making a long post is not the ultimate on: May 17, 2024, 08:35:25 PM
Some time ago I used to write a very long post although then I had enough time to run around the forum but as soon as I began my academics section I couldn't write long post, although my long posts where not necessarily as OP's because i quoted a lot of people in one post contributing my thoughts. It was seen as a good post some times but I felt there was no need to keep writing such long post as I was only repeating thoughts but now I only write straight to the point even though it's short. I got this idea of writing straight to the point from a role model @LoyceV since then I don't complicate things when writing.

I can say OP still has enough time to write but if it's necessary, I'm okay with the writing but if it's full of shit then I will skip. Some times making illustration to express your idea or thoughts makes a post very interesting but when it's not to pass a good knowledge then it's very shitty.
108  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the OTP on login time ? on: May 17, 2024, 08:11:33 PM
Building on what everyone has said above, it's not compulsory to fill in the OTP space while logging in to the forum. It's an optional layer of security that was initiated to protect people's accounts as it's a personal one time password that requires only the original owner of the account to fill in hence it reduces the rate of hacks and all sorts of security compromised in the forum.

The link @Crypto Library dropped above will guide you on how to enable it, then you can begin to use that option during your login time if necessary.

And I think this topic should be on Meta Board

I think it's okay here afterall this board is open for any thing that is related to help, except it seems necessary to be moved hence I believe here is okay.
109  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Learning by myself on: May 17, 2024, 07:53:07 PM
A lot of people (newbies) always say the same, how hard it is to figure out their ways around the forum but perhaps it's not that hard to share your thoughts on a topic that is being created or you creating a thread from your misunderstandings or complicated issues around bitcoin isn't that hard as over exaggerated but although it might feel difficult for a newbie around the forum when the find out the ranking system, the tension on trying to rank up makes them feel like it's too difficult around the forum but its not really.

You just have to empty your mind on whatever to read and learn from any source in the forum but where you want to reach a level where someone is at a short period of time then it becomes a hard task for the newbie.

The forum is simple just as the it says simple machine forum, you don't need too much because it's a user friendly site, the user interface is not difficult to figure out sections and areas where your thoughts could shared.
110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DCA: the power of little beginning on: May 17, 2024, 06:16:43 PM
This DCA is the main tool for us to accumulate bitcoin and other top cryptos in the market. And these methods are used by all investors, whether they are rich, poor, or middle-class investors, as they are called. In shot, Dca is a proven and tested tool for holders, right?

Until now, many investors or holders are using it, and I am included, and the number of communities that will use this DCA will increase in the coming
days or time.
Dollar Cost Averaging is not the main tool for bitcoin accumulations if you say it's the main tool then you're getting it wrong, it's just one of the methods which is used frequently to buy bitcoin for a long term purpose.
Perhaps bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that the dollar cost averaging has been proven to be the best method to acquire with because other cryptocurrencies are not as expensive as bitcoin only Ethereum is second to bitcoin in price hence acquire other cryptocurrencies might not need to be DCAed as it's cheap one can buy them at any given time.

One of the major reasons why dollar cost averaging has made it way to prominence over all other method which includes lump sum, but the dip etc is the fact that it allows investors/buyers to purchase at any circumstances, it reduces the stress of waiting till you have up to the current price of bitcoin before you can buy. At some point it helps as a discount especially when the price is low.

For now their is no other method or purchasing strategy that is above DCA hence it remains the best in the main time.
111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does the world know about Bitcoin? on: May 17, 2024, 02:02:16 PM
To me i think there are some part of the world that still don't know anything about Bitcoin, because there are people in USA, UK, Australia, Canada, China, etc. even in Nigeria there are people that don't know anything about Bitcoin, they always think that Bitcoin is a scam, but people that know about it are making thousand of Dollars,($) I think they don't know that we are in a digital world now.
One that is very certain about technological advancement is that not every one moves or advance at the same time. A lot of people are not acquainted with the technologies that are been created in this modern age. So for hearing or knowing about bitcoin it might seem weird to for people in remote environments to know about bitcoin.

I don't really know how many people in the world population that knows about bitcoin but I believe it's very much lower compared to the total number of people in the world. Bitcoin has made its way to the top and most powerful digital currency and infact it's the first of its kind so it's growing or spreading gradually to the world at large. Some time ago a lot of people in my local community never knew about bitcoin but today I think the popularity of bitcoin in my community has amazed me without it being advertised it still made it way deep in to a rural community so i believe bitcoin is growing gradually.
112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust bitcoin holders? on: May 17, 2024, 01:10:38 PM
You're getting it wrong OP I don't think any one is against the government not even the bitcoin holders except their are people out there who are anti-government/bankers but afaik there are none because everyone life is revolved around government. Infact live would have been brutal and unfair without government.

Bitcoin itself isn't against government nor it's holders but there aren't comfortable with the central control system or should I say there are privacy interested people. Perhaps anyone who is capable of handling his or her bitcoin or assets in bitcoin even with the level of volatility then I believe that person should be trusted to a great extent.

Bitcoin is freedom hence a group of persons are not supposed to have your whole life in their hands manipulating it as it suits them hence bitcoin has reversed such manipulation or take the control out of this group of persons hands in to every individual who believes and trust it.
113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Imagine owning a Bitcoin note. on: May 17, 2024, 10:13:11 AM
Practically it's never possible.

A lot of people have imagined this but at the end they have realised that bitcoin can never be in a physical format, it's a digital currency.
One of the reasons why bitcoin can't be in a physical format is the fact that it cannot be used to purchase some goods and services that are below a dollar or those goods that cost a cent plus.

The only physical bitcoin in the world is not necessarily bitcoin but a physical structure that was created and a private key to a wallet is encoded on it, so the value attached to it is only for the asset in the wallet.

Since it's not possible for bitcoin to be in a note or physical format then the image to be drawn on each note is not necessarily to be imagined. Wink

Edit: Additionally, bitcoin is 21 million limited in total and it can not be enough to handle a nations transactions, we all know how fiat is being printed frequently and bitcoin cannot be printed as fiat, I don't even think the 21 million bitcoin would be enough to handle a countries transactions not even the whole world.
114  Other / Meta / Re: Should mods make a post to justify why they locked a thread? on: May 17, 2024, 01:27:59 AM
It's up to the mod to decide whether to leave a text or post before locking a thread.

I'm my local board, I have seen @Igebotz make a post to inform the @OP of thread his reasons for locking thr thread. That shows that it's a personal decision of the moderator to share his reasons for locking the thread.

Additionally, if for sure you know that you made a thread or post and didn't lock the thread then find out that it's locked them you should know it doesn't follow one or more rules or there most be a good reason for it getting locked. And I haven't seen a scenario where an op open a thread that was locked by a mod.
115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the difference between Coinbase and an ETF? on: May 16, 2024, 06:21:30 PM
Your right in your observations that they seems almost the same but the truth is one they are level of security for the two. One is higher than the other.

The ETFs seems more secured than and individual having bitcoin in his or her account because I would call an exchange account a wallet. The reasons why the ETF is more secured is because is that they do not store this coins in an exchange, it must be in a very much secured wallet which either doesn't have one signature, so it will be hard for the coins to get hijacked in any way.

Apart from this I don't think reason why the ETFs will seems more safer than having ones coin in an exchange.
116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BIP39 Offline tool to generate paper wallet on: May 16, 2024, 02:46:43 PM
In case if you chose Electrum; you must include a note that the mnemonic should be restored to Electrum since it's not compatible with some bitcoin wallets.
I'm thinking should OP also add the Electrum version if his using electrum and the deprivation path because I read about such somewhere.

Is it necessary?
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Diversify memecoin investments? on: May 16, 2024, 02:15:45 PM
Since you specifically mentioned altcoins only and not just Altcoins but memecoins, I would diversify if only I had invested in them but since I don't do memecoins or I haven't started investing them then I will only imagine my actions.

Here I will split different amounts to different coins because what we are doing here in the alts is wagering or should I call it gambling, since I don't know what coin will be profitable the most I will just split the 1000€ into the above mentioned memecoins.

What ever before the reaction of the market I wouldn't loss out become out of five (5) at least one (1) will market the result more interesting.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BIP39 Offline tool to generate paper wallet on: May 16, 2024, 01:43:57 PM
Can either generate a paper wallet to print?
I'm not sure if either can generate a paper wallet for print.

Except you have to write down the seed phrase manually with pen and paper then you can laminate it or if eventually Electrum generates a paper wallet for printing then the printer must be an offline printer that doesn't connect to internet.

119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thinking outside The Box as a Gamer. on: May 15, 2024, 08:42:54 PM
I've been rolling in games since way back, and always keeping an eye on in-game economies. You know, like those Diablo II rune trades back in the day? It's always been about more than just the pixels on the screen – there's a whole economy happening under the surface. Lately, I've been looking at game tokens as a trader, but nothing's really hit that sweet spot of solid gameplay and real earning potential. until I stumbled upon Engines of Fury.

It's a top-down shooter with serious RPG elements, and it's got its own token, $FURY that they're listing on several platforms, Pancakeswap, Bitget and others and this ties it to everything you do in the game. And the best part? You can actually earn $FURY just by playing the game and being good at it.

For me, this is the next evolution of gaming. It's not just about the fun factor; So if you're like me, a gamer with a trader's eye, you need to check out Engines of Fury and $FURY, what do you think about stuff like this?
You have promoted several tokens and different coins listing so I assume this is one of them.

Must your post about a particular token or coin is just hype but when digged in details they tend be disappointing.

If I get to shoot on this it's not the same then I will start considering your posts to be true.
120  Economy / Economics / Re: Buying Vs Renting a Home- Which is the right move? on: May 15, 2024, 08:15:25 PM
I'm certain that this thread does not call for our opinions to count but at least we have to contribute a little with our knowledge. Perhaps our opinions will be so much biased based on individual experiences and geographical location which @Op already mentioned.

From my own biased perspective, buying a house is only reasonable if your idea is long term based or even permanency but if it's a temporary location then it's ideal to only rent a home. Although in Africa we call a home permanent home if only it's your locals or your "village" that it's when you can certainly have your own home so you would minimise the cost of renting a home in your home town.
But some times people buy houses in towns / cities to certify their guts or to answer a house own, while some acquire them for investment purposes as even if they have left that location for another if rented out too it could fetch them some kind of extra funds while away.

The important point there is buying a house is for the permanent, while renting is for the temporary.
