103  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How secured are Trezor Safe 3 ? on: May 30, 2024, 05:32:46 PM
I have always felt interested on using a hardware wallet by Trezor in a completely airgapped environment, but I have not had the opportunity to do so.
when you connect your wallet to a device connected to the Internet, your Trezor private key does not touch the Internet, and there is Secure Elements. Therefore, in theory, your private key is safe even if there is a virus on the device to which you connect Trezor with, but if you want the air-gapped option, you can connect it with air-gapped electrum wallet.

There are good open source options for true air-gapped wallets.
104  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: If you can't afford to pay for electricity don't do mining on: May 30, 2024, 05:15:10 PM
Where I stay for example, people find it difficult to pay for electricity because they don't have, what we do is to go to our neighborhood to charge in order to enable us do work or make use of our phone.
electricity bill for mining exceeds $100 and sometimes $XX,XXX . you need a rich neighbor not to notice this increase.
Many have been arrested and imprisoned for trying to mine with illegal electricity.
105  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New Transaction Excellerator! on: May 15, 2024, 08:07:25 AM
I get a blank screen. I don't know if the problem is on my side or server side.

To:@Z-tight
Question is about free txn acceleration, concern about our hashrate. No point paying then wait for long time to get block mined.
There are cases of using a bad wallet, broadcasting a transaction with very low fees and no RBF flag. In such cases, a paid service and confirmation within a day will be better than waiting for weeks.

Do you have any policy regarding transactions, such as blacklists, or if I broadcasts a transaction from a blacklist address, will it be accepted?
106  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Hi From Spiderpool! on: May 14, 2024, 12:05:49 PM
We're also doing free Txn Accelerations soon!
This looks great, your pool is good https://mempool.space/mining/pool/spiderpool, but with a 1% chance of finding a block every day, this service may not be fast, so it is better to be a paid service to add transactions with small sat/vB and will be a good solution instead of free Txn Accelerations.
welcome here

108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Metaplanet Makes Bitcoin a Reserve Asset As Japan’s Debt Mountain Grows on: May 13, 2024, 11:49:06 AM
Tokyo-listed Metaplanet has adopted bitcoin (BTC) as a strategic reserve asset as a hedge against Japan's debt burden and the resulting volatility in the yen.

Quote
"Metaplanet has adopted bitcoin as its strategic reserve asset. The move is a direct response to sustained economic pressures in Japan, notably high government debt levels, prolonged periods of negative real interest rates, and the consequently weak yen," the company said in the press release on Monday.
Since April, Metaplanet has acquired 117.7 BTC ($7.19 million), following the strategy pursued by U.S.-listed MicroStrategy (MSTR), which has acquired several billion dollars worth of bitcoin, per Bitcointreasuries.net. Metaplanet, an early-stage investment firm, has moved away from any involvement in Web3 and is now only focused on bitcoin alongside exposure to commercial real estate.

https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2024/05/13/metaplanet-makes-bitcoin-a-reserve-asset-as-japans-debt-mountain-grows/

117 bitcoin is small investment, but compared to the value of the company, taking Bitcoin as a reserve is a serious step, the high debts prevented the Bank of Japan (BOJ) from raising interest rates in conjunction with the Federal Reserve Bank (Fed), and interest rates are low and yen value decreases has made Bitcoin a good reserve.
109  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: High Fees on Electrum? Normal? on: May 13, 2024, 10:05:02 AM
Is the number of coin control inputs going to matter? is it going to affect the transaction speed or its just a matter of privacy?
If you are in a hurry now, use coincortol to reduce your transaction fees, but in the future you can reduce the fees  by collecting all your outputs in one input by sending all to address you control but you need to wait until the transaction fees are less than 8 sat/vB.

110  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understanding dormant wallets for beginners on: May 12, 2024, 02:12:15 PM
In addition to what was mentioned, we cannot describe wallets as a hibernated wallet or a dormant wallet. wallet is a software that controls and manages the private key. This description applies to addresses, and an address that has been dormant for more than 8 years is the only one that deserves to be described as dormant, as we do not use Bitcoin daily.
111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crackdown on mixers and privacy tools is ineffective: it may even help criminals on: May 12, 2024, 01:58:47 PM

Well funded criminal organizations will probably just set up some sort of phony anonymous exchange that they run. Get other peoples coins and send out theirs.
These organizations have the ability to mix money and hide its source, even without using mixers, but hiding the source of millions of dollars is not an easy matter, and I do not think they will trust a single mixer that may sell them data.
Criminals always leave their traces, and after more than 5 years, using chain hopping to move between several blockchains, and using fake identities to create online accounts, the authorities were able to arrest them.

The criminal complaint alleges that Lichtenstein and Morgan employed numerous sophisticated laundering techniques, including using fictitious identities to set up online accounts; utilizing computer programs to automate transactions, a laundering technique that allows for many transactions to take place in a short period of time; depositing the stolen funds into accounts at a variety of virtual currency exchanges and darknet markets and then withdrawing the funds, which obfuscates the trail of the transaction history by breaking up the fund flow; converting bitcoin to other forms of virtual currency, including anonymity-enhanced virtual currency (AEC), in a practice known as “chain hopping”; and using U.S.-based business accounts to legitimize their banking activity.
Two Arrested for Alleged Conspiracy to Launder $4.5 Billion in Stolen Cryptocurrency

The only harmed by the closing of the mixers are those who want to enjoy privacy, as their alternatives will be limited and more complicated than using the mixers.
112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can't mixed cons be deposited into a centralized exchange on: May 12, 2024, 12:22:20 PM
It is not possible to know that the coins come from the mixers, but it is possible to trace the distinctive fingerprint, which either
  • Fixed withdrawals, as happens in coinJoin or was happening in chipmixer.
  • Large transactions where the transaction contains several inputs and outputs.

Some blenders do not have this fingerprint, so it is difficult to determine if the deposits come from mixers, so all they do is trace the two fingerprints above.

If you want to deposit to CEX, send it to a new address that you have not used before, and they will not be able to know that you used a mixer.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I was holding on to Ledger and I got robbed on: May 11, 2024, 12:53:52 PM

The timeline of the transactions is unusual. Your dogecoin was transferred out on 4 Jan. Then, the thief took a break until the next morning when the Litecoin was moved. They then took another break of 6 hours before moving some more coins. It's very weird. Normally, a thief would look to take everything at once. But here, more than 24 hours passed between the first and last transaction that is visible on the screenshot.
Not only that, but the same Ethereum address was used to withdrawal ETH and Livepeer token. The same thing happened to Dogecoin, so I do not think that hacker has a deep knowledge about cryptocurrencies and I am sure that will use his personal data to create a Binance account.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Open source code doesn't mean anything as long as it's CBDC on: May 11, 2024, 12:40:00 PM
CBDCs will be completely centralized, managed by a specific party/parties and controlled by the state. the fact that the code is open/closed source will not make a difference. On the contrary, open code may mean a greater possibility of loopholes and the loss of citizens’ money. governments will deliberately refrain from publishing the code, especially since nodes will be managed centrally and no new party will be allowed to join.

Open source code doesn't mean anything as long as it's centralized
115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool Observer Topic on: May 11, 2024, 12:12:37 PM

  • fastestFee: 32 sat/vB
  • halfHourFee: 30 sat/vB
  • hourFee: 27 sat/vB
  • economyFee: 18 sat/vB
  • minimumFee: 9 sat/vB

I wonder why some fees appear to be below 0 sat/vbyte. Does this happen when two blocks are mined with a short time interval or is it a bug?
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I was holding on to Ledger and I got robbed on: May 11, 2024, 11:50:24 AM
There is a time interval between each transaction. If your wallet is hacked, the hacker will try to empty it quickly, as it reduces the possibility of you paying attention to your wallet and trying to RBF old transactions before confirming them. Therefore, I think that someone knew your wallet seed, whether it was your friend or a relative.

Fill in the police information and ask them to contact Binance to disclose the owner of the account, it may be someone you know.
117  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX or DEX: Which One Rewards You More? on: May 11, 2024, 10:54:47 AM
If we are to go by votes, people make use of the centralized exchanges more often than the decentralized ones, in which i believe that one of the reasons why they have seen this as being affordable to use was because of their lower transaction fees, but since many are not more engaged with the use of a decentralized exchange, we can wait to see how this government clampdown is going to help in driving traders and other bitcoin investors into using a decentralized exchanges, there we could gather experience and move further in making their comparison on which is better.
They will not do that. There are already exchanges that provide customer lists and cooperate with the authorities. This cooperation contributes to increasing tax revenues, and by banning these services, the tax rate will decrease significantly. a mass ban of centralized exchanges will make Bitcoin down, Monero price up, and 99% of cryptocurrencies will disappear.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sign/open old bitcoins on: May 11, 2024, 10:15:33 AM
I think @op is talking about libbitcoin command sign/send transaction. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=50721.msg604667#msg604667
I was not able to understand much, and I do not thinkx will come back to explain.
119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Share your top mistakes in crypto - learning from others experiences! on: May 10, 2024, 09:49:07 AM
Staking is not something that makes your portfolio grow quickly, I thought POS coins would perform better long term but I soon found that their value against the dollar was declining, no matter how much monthly return you were getting.
Do not sell Bitcoin unless you have a need, and do not believe analyzes that tell you that the price will rise more or fall more.
120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crackdown on mixers and privacy tools is ineffective: it may even help criminals on: May 10, 2024, 09:34:34 AM
As I mentioned previously, what they are doing now will push  towards decentralized solutions or using Monero. codes are already available, and what is missing is liquidity. This liquidity is available to those who want to mix funds, and instead of creating mixers, the number of nonkyc exchanges will increase, and with low fees of less than 5%, they will be able to mix their bitcoin.

I thought so, or at least they would let them work in exchange for providing some data on suspicious transactions, or at least submitting them to the courts. Everything they do will push towards a decentralized coinJoin or Monero.
I was expected things like wasabi coinjoin to continue as they might get cooperation with authorities.
