101  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 11, 2024, 07:56:00 PM

Real Madrid is better than them, which is why they can't control the defence well. I expected Real Madrid to draw the game because they had already won the league, allowing Grenada to avoid relegation, but they didn't do well against Real Madrid, who won the game 4-0 without their key players. Ancelotti's first and second elevens are strong, and Madrid is unstoppable in the league. Jeselo, however, is not a strong player for Madrid and should be moved next season. He has only two goals in the Champions League. Am just waiting for Madrid's game vs Dortmund to know who will definitely get the luck and win the trophy this season.

If you ask me of my personal opinion on who should take the trophy of the Champions league title back home, I will, with all sense of humility, vote for Dortmund over Real Madrid, and my reasons are not more than just that I feel like Real Madrid has had it severally but Dortmund has only gotten that opportunity once and it was in the year 1997. If they can afford to win the trophy this one more time, it will rekindle a long time history that will make the club and the players champions of their time. Whereas Real Madrid is just going to celebrate as usual. You ask whether i am perssimistic over the success of the Real Madrid, I say no. In fact, they have worked hard for the position they have placed themselves today and deserve to be celebrated too.

But, football doesnt have to accept my opinion, as in the end, only the best man shall be awarded, meaning on the club that made the most effort, that won the trophy.

Quote
Granada has already been relegated all they need to do now is perform well next season and they will have a chance to return to La Liga. If Barcelona wins their next match, they would return to second place after Girona drew their last encounter yesterday.

Granada should learn from Girona, what it takes to be great in a league like La Liga where Real Madrid and Barcelona giants reside. However, Girona has proven to the world of soccer that they are Jinxs breakers and that they can make possibilities out of what might ordinarily seem impossible to the bare eyes.

Fulham vs Manchester City. The last time Fulham was able to hold Manchester City draw on September 18, 2011, after that Fulham was completely unable to take 1 point when they face Manchester City both when playing home or away. The question is, is it possible that in the midst of Manchester City's ambitions to win the Premier League title this season they will be careless when facing Fulham? I don't think it will happen.

I actually worry about Arsenal to win the match against Manchester United even though in terms of interests I don't want Manchester City to win the four -season PL Trophy in a row.

I share the same view with you on this, about Arsenal being able to Win Manchester United in their fixture while Manchester City plays with Fulham. I don't think Fulham can beat Manchester City because their last 5 fixtures was a straight win for Manchester City over the Fulham club. Fulham never had the opportunity to win both home and away and now that the ManCity guys are more prepared, one won't expect anything less.

As for Arsenal vs Manchester United, I also see the last fixture against both teams and Arsenal gave them a 3 over 1 win. Will Arsenal be able to replicate the same efforts in tomorrow's game is what I can't say but hope for Arsenal to achieve to as to further accelerate their winning streaks.
103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: May 10, 2024, 09:58:39 PM
United have a good record against big teams. They can make surprises. But in this match United lost many important players. This is a problem for Ten Hag. Arsenal has the motivation to maintain their hopes of winning the EPL trophy. United still have a chance to get fifth but I think it will be difficult. It could be said that United did not have any motivation in that match and that could make them play without pressure. I can't pick in this match because United could spring a surprise. I think the match will end in a draw again.

Due to the way I wish Arsenal so well in this season, I will be the most glad and happiest to celebrate their victory. I have a believe that Manchester United can win over Manchester City at the end of the day so they need to be strong and resilient
104  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Is this government just all about taxes? on: May 10, 2024, 09:40:01 PM
Nigeria and it's government is just one funny set of individuals because I really don't know what is wrong with them and come to think that they are actually fighting to make things easy for the common but yet still inflating and adding nonchalant extra bills on the citizens transaction, Omo it's just like for every government the matter just gets worse and worse . I know no if na official money laundering dem wan do all the Nigerian citizens

I'm not really against the taxation system of the Tinubu administration because no country can survive its economy without taxes. Developed countries ride on the same path to sustain their own economy and internally generated revenue IGR over a long period of time. What I will not be happy about will be any form of double taxation, where the government will impose several spots of taxing a citizen at different points. Most the times, the micro small and medium enterprise ecosystem are more affected which subdues their business incomes and make a lot of businesses to collapse. If this administration can treat a clean sheet on its revenue services, it will go along way to bring about boosting our economy.
105  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Reason why crypto network dust traditional banks on: May 10, 2024, 09:17:37 PM
Watin you talk no be lie but i want make you sef know say without the commercial banks fiat cash no go dey, at least for this country we still get pipo wey no dey like to deal on anything bank transactions. Watin I dey mean be say even if say you dey deal on crypto currency things or you dey like to do transfer for anything wey you won guy. Oga e still get day when we go reach you go need fiat cash to do watin you won do. That one nai be the only things we dey make e be like say even if you no go bank you go must use fiat. And the small road side post people them dey always help us no matter the charges wey them dey collect from us, e no dey easy to go stand for front of ATM machine from morning to night and sometimes you no go get the money wey you really need. Bitcoin dey help relieve us from stress but government just dey frustrate us so that wey no go invest for Bitcoin again but the funny part be say them no go fit fight against crypto currency.

Sometimes as we they discuss the differences wey they between crypto and fiat, we suppose they also emphasize on the face that the fiat currency is as important as the crypto technology today and they both operate differently and can as well operate intertwined. The centralized system also known as the fiat which is operated by the banking system is predominantly managed by the governments whereas the decentralized system also known as the crypto platforms are operated and managed by individuals. Everyone operating in a decentralized system does not require any intermediaries from the government or banking system to function and I think that's the edge it has over the centralized system.
106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Joe Biden intention to veto legislation permitting banks to custody crypto. on: May 09, 2024, 09:17:08 PM
i dont see the US dropping crypto custody in US banks

the BIS (bank of international settlements) is getting ready to allow banks to be able to custodianise cryptos from january 2025
if america opposes it, it further separates america from integrating with the international financial networks. which means creating a bigger canyon between america and europe/asia which will then strengthen crypto's stance in things like the EU and brics commonwealths

I feel like the United States of America can not always align with the Europe and Asia in all climes. Although, the Americans seems to always sought after options that will avail them with more opportunities and protect their national interests. It is against this backdrop that US will find it tough and oftentimes difficult to make some decisions as if related to the global audience. I also feel like US may likely not oppose it if it would affect their ties with the international market, but must also take a decision that will favour their national interests.
107  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Fight against Yahaya Bello on: May 09, 2024, 09:03:22 PM
My personal belief be say no be the only money him "misappropriate" be this, na just the ones wey don come to light. Even if them mend or review the constitution, e no go stop corrupt politicians from stealing public funds for personal interests. I don see video of Bello, him dey unbothered about the entire case and it's just painful to see that things like this has been going on in the country. People we voted into power used it for personal gain.

For the first time, I'm going to applaud the EFCC team — the first time them don go after big time criminals instead of going to schools and filling their buses with students suspected of fraud.

Even though I don't see the EFCC proactive enough as they could have put more pressure on Yahaya Bello in a more sane country where rule of law prevails above the interest or position of individuals especially the elites in the country. It is high time for the government of Nigeria to be responsible, at least for once on anything that has to do with upholding the rule of law and the elimination of corruption in the system. Else, it will always be difficult to hold these people into account which has poised our economy to quagmire.

But whenever organizations like this make some bold efforts, it is our responsibility as citizens to recognize their efforts and applaud them in the little way so as to strengthen their efforts in the fight against corruption. The Nigerian government especially the president, to continue to support these agencies with Goodwill and power to execute their constituted authorities.
108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 09, 2024, 08:15:48 PM
Chelsea’s big win this season are mostly against bigger teams and that is when you don’t expect it. When they play against smaller teams, they most of the time get defeated and this makes it very hard to have hope in Chelsea for a good season anymore. Even their remaining matches that might look so easy to win, they can still fumble and lose some important matches they ought to have score. Hopefully by next season, Chelsea can be a better team and do well than they did this season because their performance on the last two seasons haven’t been encouraging.

The inconsistent in Chelsea games is hilarious. And this is the only reason why they do not perform as they should. At this point, I should attribute the inconsistency to the manager, he does not seem to warm the players up enough to deliver in their matches. Hardly does Chelsea play 5 matches consecutively without a defeat on their side and that is something the manager and the management team of the club has to work on. Chelsea fans must be the most confused fan base right now.  Grin
109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 09, 2024, 07:00:17 PM

La Liga is precisely unpredictable but we already know the formidable clubs to lift the title, Perhaps this season was quite challenging for Real Madrid and Barcelona because Girona interfere. As for Manchester United headcoach, he made mistakes by relenting on his former players, I don't expect Erik Ten Hag to be competent to handle the crucial managerial position in Manchester United. Perhaps there are limits to look out for when it comes to handling such elite team that's still finding difficulties in obtaining brilliant results.

La Liga was not as difficult to the real Madrid like it was to Barcelona. Real Madrid is already all the way up and cannot be drawn back to the other clubs who are still battling for the rest of the positions. I must also want to mention for the sake of emphasis that Real Madrid did extremely well in this season in terms of performance because they were also able to hold up their stance with the Champions league by pushing their way to the final. I think if they are able to win this year's Champions league, it will make it their 15th or so allowing them to maintain their position as the club with the highest of the trophy.

Barcelona is presently struggling the second position of the league with Girona and it is interesting to see this happen because Girona has really improved and advanced beyond most of our expectations in this season. I can't blame them for any mistakes or poor performance they had at any point but to encourage them for getting to this extent this fast. Kudos to the guys.
110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 09, 2024, 06:47:11 PM
Based on what Borussia Dortmund did to PSG in their home to eliminated them from the semi-final, I guess they will do the same thing to Real Madrid in the final stage because they have good defenders that are very solid to block Real Madrid not to score a single goal from this final game to lift the trophy.

I don't think the same thing will be applicable to the final. At the final, Dortmund will be meeting with one of the Champions of the Champions league. In fact, Real Madrid is the club with the highest champions league trophy. Any club that will be meeting with the real Madrid must be very ready and expectant of any result. They should not be over ambitious and at same time not discourage. But no matter how motivated you want to keep Dortmund, it cannot erase the fact that they are meeting with the Champions league giants and must come 'too' prepared.

Dortmundi had only won the champions league once and that was in 1997. Afterwards, they haven't had the opportunity again. But Real Madrid is already familiar with what it takes to win the Champions league including the previous once they won. Although there are different sets of players today, the morale and the management of the club will make them coordinated and powerful over the oppositions.
111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 08, 2024, 09:00:09 PM

Both Real and Bayern are playing very well, both teams are attacking well, with Bayern launching dangerous counterattacks, one of which has already resulted in a goal. There are 5 minutes left until the end of the main time, Real are attacking especially aggressively at the end of the match, but I think that Bayern will still make it to the final and this year we will have two teams from the Bundesliga in the final.
ps Neuer just made a mistake, apparently it's going to be extra time

But Bayern Munich has absolutely impressed me today. How well they were able to hold Madrid to the real challenge is astonishing. Now both teams are past 90 minutes and are in a draw game which could likely result to both teams finishing at a penalty shootout. Real Madrid have met Bayern Munich on several occasions in the Champions league. If Bayern will be able to win this match, they would have broken the spell (lol) casted upon them with the inescapable win over the same Bayern for several years.

Now I heard Madrid as scored an extra goal which take them to the lead again after Joselu netted his second goal. I'm not as impressd as I am not happy with that

112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 08, 2024, 08:45:13 PM
You are right. Man United don't only have bad quality of attackers, they also have bad defenders. The number of conceded goals in this season describes how bad the quality of Man United defense. How can the conceded goals higher than the number of goals they made? This is a really big problem for Ten Hag, he didn't have enough good defenders. If Man United always have a problem on the defense line, they will never be a stronger team. If I were him, I will rebuild the defense line, I will change all the current defenders.

However, the attacking line is performing very badly. If we look at the stats, Man United only can score 52 goals so far. This is the lowest number of goals among the top teams in EPL. Even Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Chelsea can score more than 70 goals. I think the main problem of the attacking of Man United is about the striker (CF). Hojlund still can't play as a real machine goal, his stats of scoring goals looks too badly.

Manchester United made my day the worst yesterday with their lack of ability to prove their capacity and capability as an elite club. Rather they gave the world more reasons to be disappointed at Manchester United for their oftentimes unreliable and poor outcome of matches. When Manchester united was fixtured with the Crystal Palace for this very match, I had much hopes on the Manchester United guys to win against the Crystal Palace but reverse was the case with Crystal Palace lashing out the laziness of the Manchester United with a 4 goals over none. Now Manchester United will remain a their 8 position in the table standing of the league.
113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: May 08, 2024, 08:31:53 PM
I would not allow them to judge me rather I will try to judge myself through my actions and inactions after having a deep thoughts about things. As an individual, I have an end of the month, monthly evaluation form, where I tried to introspect on my affairs to make better decisions in the near future. I will also advise many of others here to try that. Although I'm not always consistent throughout all the months, but it has seriously help me to remain informed on the progress of life entirely.

As for what people will say about my gambling habit or addiction, it's left to them. Whether I do well or do badly, people will comment so I try as much as possible to, though take cue from their talks, but introspect within myself to figure out the solutions to my problems.
114  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Which country is wiser? on: May 08, 2024, 08:21:33 PM
Nigeria or India?

Nigerian government blocked all exchanges website, went after Binance naira P2P, but left mobile app of the exchanges to be accessible. Binance officials came to Nigeria but they defend them. One escaped but they still want to make Binance pay fine.

India blocked the exchange websites. Later told Google and Apple to remove the exchanges from their app store. They have no one to arrest. Kucoin or so (please correct me if wrong) was given license. Recently Binance dialogued with them and wanted or maybe has paid 2 million fine.

Finance and many other exchanges can not afford to leave Nigeria also. According to Chainanalysis, Nigeria emerged as the number one in 2 trading all over the world and we adopt cryptocurrencies generally.

We are in 2024. There are ways to handle some cases without detention and lawsuit.

Wow. If Nigeria is really the number one in the P2p trading a over the world patronizing Binance, then I can first of all agree with you that India is wiser and smarter than the Nigerian government as well as Nigeria have been operating in a seemingly loose system of policy formulation or implementation. And of course, this wouldn't be the first time Nigeria have been losing funds, revenues and investment opportunities to such poor decision making aspect of the government.

You can't be making news with the detention of Binance staff or lawsuit of the company, when for goodness sake, the country can explore more productive and wiser options to better punish the company, further engage and maximize profits from the company. But I must also mention that this government is far better in terms of decision making process than the former government because this government have continuously tried to get hold of its economy reasonably.

If I was opportune to be in a position to advise the government, the first advice will actually be for the government to sanction them through a modified policy. Since, we are a new government, then was Binance must be forced to do is to firstly be informed about our newly modified policies on cryptocurrencies which must have indicted their operations especially if they've been flawting some or following through the back door all these while. Through this, they will be compeled to stop their business until they settle some fines which will be leveled against them already.

As a government, we will immediately set up a committee which will be saddled with the following responsibilities.
1. Will be to craft out incentives which will enable them to comply with the new policies and set up penalties for when they fail to comply with the regulations of the new policy.
2. I will bring out initiatives that will encourage Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) between the exchanges and the government, so they can also give back to the community when they already are enjoying their businesses here. An example can be through Corporate Social Responsibilities.

And many more.
115  Economy / Economics / Re: Oil producing countries experiencing hardship. on: May 08, 2024, 07:30:01 PM
Well, I don't think it's all the oil-producing countries that are facing this hardship together. Yes, we know that hydro and renewable energy are becoming more adoptable, but yet oil still has a wide range of uses across nations. The reason why some countries are facing hardship is not because oil business is not generating revenue for them, although is not booming as much as before when the price of crude skyrocketed but the current profit is still significant enough not to let a country face hardship. The major reason why some oil-producing countries are facing hardship is because of the high level of corruption among the greedy leaders in the country. Mismanagement of resources can cause hardship too.

I agree with you on this assertion. As an oil producing country, the business is not as lucrative as it used to be for them, especially with the massive profit they were enjoying in those days, but that doesn't mean they must suffer hardship altogether. The truth is even the gas producing countries right now have more patronage and profitability. But only countries who have not been able to utilize the crude oil they had due to a failed system and corruption that have eaten up their performance. Those are the countries facing the downtrend of the oil production that has negatively hit the countries today.
116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 07, 2024, 09:59:07 PM

Hi friends, Real Madrid have locked the Laliga title after they managed to beat Cadiz. Barcelona are unable to catch up with Real Madrid points tally because they only have 4 matches left this season. For Real Madrid, they are focusing their energy more on the Champions League because in LaLiga any results will no longer affect their position. In tomorrow match, Real Madrid will face Bayern Munich where the second leg will take place at the Bernabeu stadium.

Why did you say Real Madrid managed to win over Cadiz when they scored a total of 3 goals. Aside from the point that Real Madrid is currently in form and are  leading at the very top position of the table standing with just few matches left for the entire season to end.
117  Economy / Economics / Re: The knowledge Economy on: May 07, 2024, 09:53:41 PM
Knowledge is the base for everything, kingdoms found ways to colonize resourceful countries do they can power their ruling which takes knowledge and so on, currently the economy is more wide open, one with skills prevails while others have to work for them and this may apply on the bigger picture level too.

Knowledge is power. Knowledge is money. Knowledge is influence. And I will give  just one instances to the statements I mentioned here. I will give an example of Knowledge is Power with the case of two friends who went in scout for an interview for a company job. During the interview, the first friend, who came very prepared with the beyond-the-surface knowledge of company, gave in depth answers using recorded incidents and events that have led the company to what it is today as it also resonate with the company's niche. Whereas the second person gave only basic answers struggling to figure out and gather a compelling interview answers.
118  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Federal Government Plans to Delist Naira p2p on Crypto Exchange. on: May 07, 2024, 09:44:10 PM
Nigeria has the official rate and parallel market rate. The crypto exchange traders deal with the parallel market rate. But CBN increased the official rate to $1600 few weeks ago. Is it crypto P2P that caused it? They should continue to deceive us.

P2P trading will not stop in Nigeria. Let them continue to deceive themselves. They want Nigerians to remain holding naira which they can control and devalue.

They want people to use the rate that will not favour but which will indirectly be extortion.

It is funny sometimes to see how the federal government of Nigeria issue statements. For someone like me, I wonder if those people handling those ministry and agencies are competent enough or not. Because, you can not make statements about things that are barely impossible to deceive people. Unfortunately, Nigeria is a country where a reasonable number of the population are semiliterates and are most of the time underinformed about the true picture of the programmes and policies of the government, hence making it easy for the government to control their emotions by releasing such kinds of statements.

How do you intend to take away P2P trading in Naira from Nigeria when all you can only do is to restrict users of online crypto exchanges from using the available exchange companies but can never have control beyond that?
119  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: A move for crypto regulations in Nigeria on: May 06, 2024, 02:43:36 PM
There are sometimes I blame the cryptocurrency exchange and not the government though government is not trying to. But the cryptocurrency exchange are more to blame because the vendors are not following the normal exchange of dollar rate with the naira if dollar is NGN, 83,000,000 there are some vendors who manipulated the naira from..the normal price to a higher price of NGN129,000,000 which far above the normal exchange prince and before we know others also follow. And that's also one of the cause that the federal government is fighting to reduce all those manipulation. And if they are buying and selling cryptocurrency with the normal and current price of cryptocurrency, I think federal government will not go and after them.

And for those ones that following the normal price for the national exchange rate might not face any clampdown and if it happens, probably the exchange is not paying tax and disobey some other rules in the country but for those who are doing the right thing might not have any issue with federal government.

Can I speak my opinion on these disparities in exchange rates that are faced by the government and its people through these platforms? It is because the government in itself have not taken their job serious to look after the affairs of its people thereby giving many opportunities to loopholes found in our weak systems today. This same lack of proactive measures from the side of the government has further weaken our economy and security in Nigeria. There's no sector right now where we do not face something similar to what's happening in the Fintech industry in Nigeria today and the behavior towards such sectors are usually the same.

The reason to all of these conflicts of interests is due to the laxity in the functionality of the system. The system is not designed to be effective enough to put new advancements under control hence the distrust between the government and the technologies. To mention that billions of funds have went through these online crypto exchanges for years without a proper detail or information of those transactions, shows how sluggish the government system in the country is run. At least, this should not happen to big crypto exchange platforms we know.
120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you disguise on your real gambling lifestyle just to help a friend/relative? on: May 06, 2024, 02:19:10 PM
Does any of you guys have any negative side of gambling habit in you which literally you advices anyone not to exhibit it?
Or can you afford to hide your real disreputable gambling life just to help an astray gambling friend or relative?

I think everyone addicted to gambling today has the level or degree of their gambling as well as their level of self-control which mostly works with the psychological stamina of the person together with the environmental effects. The degree at which someone gets more or less addicted to gambling and the level at which they are able to control it can be as a result of their psychological stamina and environmental factors. You probably have been able to stick more to your gambling schedules, budgets and plans because of your level of psychological stamina which could be stronger than your friends who cannot control themselves. Despite your control level, you still have periods where you don't meet up with your plans and go against your boundaries, this could be as a result of the environment you are. Now, if you can introspect about all of these two characteristics by exercising your mental stamina as well as changing your environment, you could be able to tackle the addiction almost completely if not all. This is the same approach you should take towards advising your friends and relatives who have gone astray in their gambling lifestyles.
