103  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's Your Buy Price? on: May 08, 2013, 10:58:03 AM
My first buy is about $3. The price of My first 2100BTC is around $6. From Sep. 2011 to Aug. 2012, I was trading quite frequently, about at least once in a week. Now the average price of my coins is much less then $1.
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone interested in a media showcase+Bitcoin donations community platform? on: May 07, 2013, 02:22:35 AM
What would you guys think of a YouTube type site with videos, pictures, music etc – with the added benefit of a button below the media that easily lets viewers submit bitcoin donations and the total donation amount being visible to all. The aim would be for artists, musicians, gamers, those in need, charities, or just about anyone to have a place to present their video/plea/work/art/stream and get some BTC funding/donation from users. Submitting content would be as easy as filling a form with the media URL (youtube/vimeo/photobucket/soundcloud/ustream etc URL) and their bitcoin address.

The spirit of Bitcoin seems to be to trust and support each other, to take out the middleman and gatekeepers to trade and prosperity, and I thought this kind of website might be useful in that ideal and can develop it if wanted. If anyone thinks this is a good or bad idea please let me know, any feedback is welcome.

I'm interested, and I've just organized a charity donation for lushan earthquake https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=181336

CCtv is not trying to give a positive impression, it just doesn't know what to say.
I am confused then about why they had to say anything? Overall Bitcoin is very unknown, there was no pressure to bring it into the spotlight.(or was there?)

My opinion? it seems reporters don't get the revolutionary impact of bitcoin on the Party.
107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Holders Must Prepare For Mass Adoption on: May 06, 2013, 06:25:00 AM
You probably do not fully understand China.

CCtv is not trying to give a positive impression, it just doesn't know what to say.

I'm one of the interviewees of that "famous" program, but my interview was cut to only half of one of my sentences, while the interview actually went on more than 20 minutes.

What I saw is a fact that the CCtv journalist knows what is exactly dangerous in the bitcoin properties.

108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / HELP: have some difficulties to fully understand Ripple... on: May 06, 2013, 05:55:40 AM
One of simplest methods to understand something is to ask "What're the problems it tries to solve?"

It seems to me that Ripple is trying to solve several problems at once:

1. it's trying to complement the lack of credit system in Bitcoin. (the old ripplepay project was designed to give a p2p solution of 'IOU' credit)
2. it provides a p2p exchange solution for bitcoin and fiat currencies. (a seemingly nice solution that bitcoin traders are looking forward to)
3. it introduces xrp, and rendering transition fees subject to a mechanism so that DDoS attacks might well be prevented. (just a theory, needs to be verified)
4. it introduces "ripple gateway", working like VISA/MASTER agent (but need no a unity of various banks, since it is the only bank of p2p currency online?)

but I have many holes that need to be filled:

1. what's the exact role of xrp?
2. now it seems xrp has already held a tremendous value. the price is approching 21million / 100billion,that is, 1BTC is equivalent to 4672 XRP: the price seems now to be about 1BTC = 6000 XRP (May.05). it's a price and market cap that bitcoin has been working so hard to achieve. is it reasonable? what if the XRP price continues to boost, to an extent to which the market cap of xrp exceeds that of bitcoin?
3. XRP is a centralized distributing currency, which is almost certainly subject to inflation, though it is alleged the number of XRP is designed to be fixed. What are its potential effect on bitcoin value?
4. What is the impact of Ripple on existing exchange service provides, such as MtGox?

sorry folks, too many questions. thank you for your time.
109  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Idea: an exchange market for all coins on: May 06, 2013, 05:31:43 AM

Well there, we've done exactly that with Crypto Street . Not only do we offer several alt coins, we also help you trade them across various exchanges, thereby getting the best possible price whether you're buying or selling.

I didn't see you provide a path from btc to ltc, or other feather coins. All you have are btc to dollar, ltc to dollar?
110  Bitcoin / Project Development / Idea: an exchange market for all coins on: May 05, 2013, 01:46:14 PM
I could like to develop an exchange market of all coins, including bitcoin, xrp, and other feather coins...

but, what is the impact of ripple to existing exchange markets and new ones?

any idea?
111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a Currency or Commodity? on: May 05, 2013, 04:27:53 AM
I'm always amazed by people who cannot accept the fact that all currencies are commodities, while people are buying and selling currencies all the time.

A centralized organization/place for decentralized currency? Huh
116  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: crypto.pm | an upcoming cryptocurrency exchange on: May 02, 2013, 10:33:02 AM
A number of those questions remain unaddressed in your reply, but as you've pointed out they're largely a matter for your potential investors, depositors and escrow users to investigate as part of their own due diligence so I won't push you on them.  There's one exception; specifically, I'd be interested to see an answer to:

Quote
Please state your exact qualification in law, the certifying body, and where we can find a certificate.

I'd like to break it down a little.  It's all really part of the same question, but I'd like to be sure specific parts are asked:

  • Are you currently a UK solicitor?
  • If not, were you in the past, and at what time?
  • Either way, what exact qualification do you hold, from what institution in what country?
  • More generally: have you stated that you are a lawyer (as in, used the word "lawyer" to describe yourself, as opposed to "solicitor")?
  • If so, what qualification do you hold that you believe merits the title "laywer"?
  • If not, why?

I'm making no assertions or claims about you here, and I'm certainly not asserting or claiming that you're not a lawyer or not a solicitor; I'm just asking questions.  In the UK, for the protection of consumers, "solicitor" is a protected title.  Anyone using that term first needs to be granted a Practising Certificate; to make that claim or use that title in the UK without such a certificate is a criminal offence in its own right.  Such certificates are a matter of public record for the protection of consumers.  There is one exception: from the page linked above: "the only genuine ones not on there are those who have requested their removal from the database".  Please be clear about whether this applies to you, and if so we can cross that bridge next.

In the UK at least, this is not a question on which people are allowed to be cagey or unclear.  I'm not implying any right on my part to obtain an answer to this on an Internet forum; just saying that the entire UK can be partitioned into two non-overlapping sets: those who legally have to say they're not a solicitor when asked, and those who legally have to say they are when asked, for whom it's easily verified with public records.

I think this question should be answered.
117  Economy / Service Discussion / How many bitcoin related companies went public already? on: May 02, 2013, 08:31:31 AM
Bitcoin has been changing the world drastically while almost silently.

The way of a company going to public is altered already. You guys knew already that satoshidice is public through mpex.co, and investors are enjoying a nice profit.

While kickstarter.com is shortening the course of a project from idea to products, bitcoin is drastically abridging the process of a company from startup to listed one. A proven profiting bitcoin related company needs no tedious course of exchanging ideas and discussing or debating on the future with funders, say, angels, the first round, the second round, the third round of vc, pe, and finally going public.

You have an idea, then you should do it. By profiting, you prove your idea is viable. Then, you can simply sell some of your bonds to the public. It's intrinsically natural for business related to bitcoin, since every transaction you made is public, albeit anonymous.

The most popular public bitcoin related companies that I knew of are:

satoshidice.com
bitbet.us

and I know a new company, crypto.pm just sold out their 40% bonds in the last few days.

Could you help me make a complete list of "public companies in bitcoinica"? thank you!
118  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: crypto.pm | an upcoming cryptocurrency exchange on: April 30, 2013, 04:17:59 PM
Hope other virtual currencies, such as litecoin, or Liberty Reserve, are also supported.

Since you can hardly support RMB, besides HK$, LR is an alternative to support Chinese buyers, since they're using LR to buy gold.

120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Crowdfunding through bitcoin? on: April 30, 2013, 10:35:52 AM
I visited several bitcoin related crowdfunding website, but it seems that they are not very active.

Why? (though crowdfunding through bitcoin is seemly promising...)
