lets say I have set miner to restart every 1 hour, does that mean the mined shares will be lost?

Why would you reset them so much? Or at all for that matter.

do not mine with graphic card, your btc mined is even less then getting those free bitcoin at https://www.landofbitcoin.com/?r=phqCKSzE8j0J1vMW
get asic miner, usd 50 might get you a s1 if u bargain hard

haha an S1 for $50...
 imagine someone being that dumb...
cuz you know you cant buy an upgrade kit for them to make them S3's... no really you cant just yet Wink

maybe a Block eruptor Cube, those are only worth $50. s1's lil under $150 at x5 the hashing rate
wow funniest thing on ebay is people selling corsair 500+'s with a cube for under $50... the power supply is that value! nice deals if you can snag it!

I got a couple Antminer S1's for about $70 a pop after lots of bargain hunting.  Amazing what you find when people misspell stuff.  I used to find the usb block erupters for dirt cheap cause they would spell it block eruptOr.  Search and you shall find.  Also amazing what you can find on craigslist too got an Antminer S2 for $650 once.

^ I've had to add 250ghs per mining rig to keep my payout the same at this score based pool. It now takes 2.5th to get 0.01 payout per BLOCK on slushes pool. I was running 4.5th(2.25th per rig) here to get 0.02 per BLOCK, now I've bumped it up to 5th to keep my total payout per BLOCK the same. The other pool I mine on has pplns payout so I keep my DAILY payout at 0.02. Ive had to add about the same ratio in ghs to keep a 0.02 payout per DAY at BTCguild. It now takes 1.25th there to get the 0.02 per DAY payout. It was only taking 1.1th before. Keeping my payouts at a certain amount by adding ghs(most of the time small, sometimes large) has worked very well for me. I also have some hosted miners, but I use a slightly different strategy with those.

Even if I wanted to keep adding miners I really couldn't unless I have an electrician put in a couple more circuits...$$$...not going to happen. I have miners in my garage, office, bonus room and crawlspace. The Mrs. would not stand for miners in the bedroom ;-)

Extension cord spliced into another circuit in the attic she will never know... LOL

Being the IT admin, i have access to a climate controlled room and unlimited power. If anyone happens to be in the server room and sees my miners, they assume it is networking/server equipment.

I run 6 ant s1's.

I started mining in March. I am still new.

I am nobody's judge, but here a reality check. What you are doing is no different or better than taking home reams of printer paper = theft. Do you like your job?

I do the same thing as my company pays very little for power and we have solar also.  My boss approves me using it and he is even wanting to get in on the mining action.

Free power or not if there is no work then no one is making money.

It seems because of difficulty is going up and in the same time now bitcoin price is going down AntMiner S1 will be worthless to run sooner rather then later...
Only good possibility is in cold winter to overclock them if your electricity is "free"... you can use them as electrical heater in the same time...  Roll Eyes

You can upgrade your S1 to be just as fast and same efficiency as the S3 for .46 btc.

From their home page:

The sale of S1 Upgrade Kit is 0.46 BTC each including international shipping, which starts on September 20th or earlier.

Now do your math...The next ~25% diff. increase in a few days plus 2 more until you get your kit (assuming on time delivery 9/20). So diff. at about 29,000,000,000
Daily BTC before expenses around 0.0076 then, after power cost (10c Kwh) thats $2.98/day...for about 2 weeks then next diff. increase.

You are paying about $250 (using today's low exchange rate) to mine slightly more than double than you get with an over clocked
S1 now. OK, some power savings but not huge. So the question is how much did you pay for the S1? If you got it for next to nothing
this upgrade can be a good deal. If you bought if for over $250 like a month ago you are now in for $500 and will likely only break even (if at all)
after 6 months or more.

If BTC goes over $650 again things look a lot better. Over $1,000 and hurrah!

I realize the economics behind it all i was just saying.  I guess i forget sometimes i dont pay for power. Wink I use solar / power and cooling from my server room at work.

Been mining for almost a year and using a desktop wallet. Finally getting some new equipment and more bitcoins (hopefully).  Wondering what yall think about online wallets like Xapo or Coinbase etc?

Thanks,
