103  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to pay for miner with Bitcoin on: September 13, 2014, 11:40:59 PM
Whoops, missed the note about payment taking longer to confirm. Speaking of which, I use coinbase to convert/transfer bitcoin to my bank. It takes 3 to 4 business days. Is there any way to convert bitcoin to us dollars and have it show up in my bank account faster?

My bitcoin core wallet has a built in fee when I send bitcoin to coinbase and of course coinbase charges fees. What is the most cost effective way to move and convert bitcoin?
104  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to pay for miner with Bitcoin on: September 13, 2014, 11:32:17 PM
I already downloaded a wallet and the blockchain. The only reason I can think of to use it is to keep my coin offline and safer. I dont keep more on coinbase than I could survive the loss of in the unlikely event that it would be stolen or lost. Am I missing a reason why using my wallet at home is better?

Hi, great guide. Takes care of digging up how many pcie connectors a psu has.
Could you add Corsair HX1000w I just bought one on ebay and don't know anything about it.
Thanks

I too am skeptical. I bought 3 hashlets so far and everything seems to be fine but not jumping in. Don't want a lot of risk.

Sorry but I don't understand. What is the downside of sending a payment to Bitmain from my Coinbase wallet? Why should I use the wallet on my pc? If Bitmain refused to send a refund why would it matter what wallet I had used to pay them. If they send a refund wouldn't my wallet on coinbase accept it? I'm thinking of making my first purchase with Bitcoin from Bitmain.

110  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: September 10, 2014, 07:11:36 PM
Is it possible to buy 1 antminer S1 upgrade kit?
Same question for S3?
Now that S3 are sold out.
Should we order? When will the next ship date be?

113  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Best miner software for Red Hat 5.0 Linux? on: September 08, 2014, 08:29:19 PM

Could somebody explain to me what's happening in the top section of the PPLNS Stats page? In the open shifts section their is a "shift completed time" column. What's happening in this area. I don't know what it means that the blocks are not final? What is happening to the blocks. Getting confirmed? Can a block be awarded and fail to be confirmed? I would like to have a better understanding of what's going on in this section of the stats.
115  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Spiceminer's Ant Viewer - Online monitoring stats! alerts - Antminer monitoring! on: September 06, 2014, 07:24:18 PM
Working now. Software is great! I googled and found API settings. Totally screwed up. Miner wouldn't even connect to pools and mine. Now that I know where API settings are, changed them in the problem ant to what they were in one of the working ants and all is well. :-)

One of my antminer S1s is listed as dead. Others showing up fine. I can connect to it with firefox and everything looks ok.
Any suggestions? Software looks great by the way:-)

This may be relevant.
Initially had same problem with M's ant monitor 3.3 but worked when i unchecked the use api (non web) box.
When I checked this box again it still worked and has worked ok since.
up time always shows up as error or Huh Not sure if this is a clue.

sometimes cgminer stops responding to API calls.

if you reboot the ant it'll probably work again.

unless for some reason cgminer is configured to not accept api request. in that case you'll have to ssh into it and allow api.

--api-listen --api-network will allow basic access

I tried rebooting and power off and on. still showing as dead. when 1st started the viewer another ant was dead but showed up ok a few minutes later after refresh. Maybe a time out problem?

Where do i change or check API on the s1? reboot didn't help

Is it overclocked? What are the temps? You should post this in mining support for better response.
