101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Part 3 – Much more on why clues suggest Peter Todd is probably Satoshi on: February 23, 2016, 06:27:01 PM
Publicly claiming to have authored the Bitcoin Whitepaper on your Linkedin Account has to be akin to claim you're Satoshi Nakamoto or a meaningful (and possibly rogue) part of a team of folks who used "Satoshi Nakamoto" as a collective pseudonym. After the Craig Wright thing, it seems odd that this would just be floating out there.  Can't make up my mind on this one.
102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Part 3 – Much more on why clues suggest Peter Todd is probably Satoshi on: February 23, 2016, 03:02:27 PM
When I think about who could be Satoshi I think it could be:

-person under 35
-super talented developer
-calm cool and collected
-still in public view around bitcoin but not claiming they are Satoshi
-not asian (name Satoshi used as distraction, makes people look for someone asian)

All these considered it could be Peter Todd. He fits all of the above.

Whoever it is they have their reasons for remaining anon.

Yep.  I do think its person younger than previously thought - like PT.  Seems like it is the youngins' that often disrupt things in the tech world. The person linked to above, Tim, also fits the bill.

This person claims to have authored the Bitcoin whitepaper in their Linkedin profile - also worked for "Leviathan Security Group" :

104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [VERGE][XVG] VERGE [POW][Scrypt][privacy focused - full TOR/i2P resources] on: February 20, 2016, 01:01:03 AM

I find the coin is overhyped, that is my opinion sorry. Is the right way to Insult the mother? really?

Really? Please do elaborate. Tell us exactly what you think. Not just vague statements "I find the coin is overhyped" but tangible and thoughtful reasons why you think this is not a good coin. What could be done better?

Tell us why you invested in the first place. We all know you were very frustrated and ultimately sold me your 3 Million DOGED for just 4 sats.

What were you thinking when you sold. Did you feel it was over-hyped then or perhaps you felt it was under-hyped and gave up.

Please, tell us in great detail exactly how this can be a better coin. Let us know where you re-invested your 0.12 BTC I gave you for your DOGED. Would you like it back? Make me an offer.

1. I donīt sold Wink Pokerface Tongue

2. I saw a lot of coins with good arguments. Many times the "community" wrote the big Price jump on date XY. 99% of this release days nothing happend

All in all, i Holding coins but i donīt trust the most of the DEVs here.

Dogedarkdev is the only dev in this thread.

I am a free agent. I'll mail you a copy of my business card. It's lemon-scented.

Wait, wait, wait. Is the copy or the actual card lemon-scented?  And, why send only a copy? Srs biznss here.

QuasiKurdo, I would just like to say that you are a stupid, poopy-headed buttface and that you smell like a butt and your head resembles a butt.

Your mother is so fat that she left the house in high heels and came back in flip flops.

Good day.
The minute I clicked unignore I just saw this. Dude. Flaming. Debate the issue not the person, or his mom.

TBF - mama quips, if good, are greatly appreciated.  Generally, however, "debat[ing] the issue" should be the rule-of-thumb.

as I wrote in the other thread, since there are many newbs account posting here, guys be careful and do not "fall in love" with the coin. Verge is noteworthy and the Dev is a white fly in the crypto scene, but it is still a manipulated and speculative market. I'm personally still in and I think there will be more growth, but you should set a stable exit point not too far fetched, don't let those screaming "3k sats here we go" fool you, we will not get there, at least not short term. If I had entered at a price that at this point had gained me more than 15 btc, I would be already out.

sooo careful not to get burned, happy trading and regardless the price, keep up the good work Dev!

Great perspective w/ a lot of wisdom.  Following the bubble pattern from yesterday, I expect Verge to settle down somewhere between 12 and 15 Satoshi before too long.  From there, Verge may continue to appreciate in value if a lot of stars start to align.  Some of those stars include a growing and sustainable user-base, usage beyond speculation (Verge has to be spendable or usable beyond trading for other cryptos or it won't successfully compete with other digital currencies or digital assets), and more people contributing to and collaborating in growing the ecosystem (Example: VergeDev has been and is great, but two great devs would be greater).

One thing that may help grow the user base is a feature-chart that compares Verge with other currencies/assets trying to help w/ privacy.  That would help people make an informed choice.  If the chart were to be very honest w/ identifying features of the various privacy-focused currencies, then it may help boost the credibility of this community.  Basically, more computer-science talk here would be helpful.

#XVG?

Definitely at the top of the short-list.

#VERGE is not a good hashtag - too many other folks use it.  Maybe we can agree to a recommended unique hashtag and post it in the OP.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XVG] Verge - Speculation & Discussion on: February 18, 2016, 07:12:40 PM
Sorta unbelievable for this little coin - 100+ BTC in volume on Bittrex alone in under 24hrs.

EDIT - Verge at 113 BTC (Bittex) less than an hour after my 100+ post.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitHire, Verge, Decred, Radium as usual scam coins on disgraced bittrex... on: February 18, 2016, 07:06:16 PM
i'm not here to discussing your scam coin, it's a waste of my time and everyone else time. if you bagholding your shit scam coin then deal with it. OH, YOUR COIN IS A GET RICH QUICK SCAM COIN!

Yes you are - this is your thread.  Maybe we can raise some funds for you so you can enroll in a troll school so that you will at least have a chance at being a credible troll going forward.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitHire, Verge, Decred, Radium as usual scam coins on disgraced bittrex... on: February 18, 2016, 06:55:41 PM

Not sure why Verge is on your list.  Care to elaborate?

so, i did wasted a little bit of my time for it. Dogedarkdev, is this sound familiar as a dev from another dead scam coin? my common sense is always right. there is no reason to start another shit coin.

No, honestly.  Got a link?

There are a few threads in the general altcoin discussion forum here that might be of interest to other Verge fans:

114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DogeCoin & DogeCoinDark on: February 18, 2016, 06:11:36 PM
Dogecoindark is privacy focused b/c it utilizes tor and i2p resources (there is an Electrum wallet somewhere in there too) - Dogecoin does not emphasize user privacy. Dogecoindark has less coin supply than Dogecoin by 10s of billions of coins.

However, Dogecoindark is no more - it was just rebranded this past Monday to "Verge" (XVG).  Bittrex shows over 96 BTC have been traded since Bittrex updated its exchange to reflect the name change mid-afternoon yesterday. Supporters are pushing for Poloniex and ShapeShift to add Verge quickly.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XVG] Verge - Speculation & Discussion on: February 18, 2016, 05:58:06 PM
Big volume spike today.  Bittrex says almost 94 BTC/24hrs.  Volume might continue to grow when Poloniex adds.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [VERGE][XVG] VERGE [POW][Scrypt][privacy focused - full TOR/i2P resources] on: February 18, 2016, 04:06:53 PM
Dev said that only VERGE have i2p tor web wallet

this is only one ,.no other coins

so,its possible to reach that value,i think
look here:
https://minkiz.co/coin/anon
Anoncoin and Bata use i2p too.

but
VERGE has better ecosystem and community Smiley

Correct. However, VERGE is the only coin that has an electrum wallet bound to the i2p nodes.
that's an important point. thank you for refering to it.

This makes it more secure right?

It is a tool for privacy; privacy tools can help w/ security.  However, they're not a panacea - think about how Tor talks about the Tor browser (i.e., there are a lot of other factors that go into online security/privacy besides than using specific software).   Security/privacy is a lot like yoga or meditation - it's a practice, and it takes time to get good at it.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XVG] Verge - Speculation & Discussion on: February 18, 2016, 05:21:23 AM

We will be using Smooth's Monero Speculation rules for thread moderation.

Umm, pretty sure you can't use Smooth's moderation rules if you don't make a self-moderated thread.

Yep. Figured that one out.  Live and learn.

Looks like cryptrader.com updated and now has Bittrex's XVG chart.

119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymous coins on: February 17, 2016, 11:30:05 PM
For what purposes can be used anonymity, and what chance for this coins to become target practice for law enforcement? I'm wondering how will government adopt this idea that bunch of kids can make Money laundering systems?

1. All purposes for which the tech can be used - same as with cash.

2. High probability of interest by LE, same as with cash. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/feb/15/crime-terrorism-and-tax-evasion-why-banks-are-waging-war-on-cash

3. Kids have always had that ability and have probably always participated in funding laundering activities (e.g., arcades, vending machines, etc. are all great ways to launder cash).

I don't see how privacy-focused currencies increase the occurrences of bad behavior; privacy is more about consumer protection and freedom from spam IMHO.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymous coins on: February 17, 2016, 11:00:34 PM
Formerly DarkCoin, now Dash rhymes with Trash. That is all you need to remember.

Just a clarification - DogecoinDark is now Verge.

So meme ... so orifice abstract ... so HOMOmorphictifying

Ok, I applaud the effort, but the execution of the troll maneuver didn't really pop or sting like it should have.  "Orifice" was not the right word choice here, but it is barking up the right tree.  If you want a re-do, I'm willing to be judge anew.
