Glad to see you've been working hard, awesome website  Cool Any idea when the geocaching beta testing will be ready?

The geocaching technology is complete and ready for alpha testing. HTML5 multisig wallet integration is in development. I''ll update when I can. It's looking really good so far.

I just sent 0.1 BTC to c-cex to get extra votes. This gave us 100 votes and puts us in 5th place! Everyone please vote, you can only have 1 free vote per coin ever, and each vote helps.

Any big players/miners please consider donating 0.01 BTC (that's only like $2.50). Not many people have to do this to get us to first place. Any support is greatly appreciated.

It's super easy to do, simply send a small amount of BTC to the address below and that's it:

GeoCoin was just added to the voting list of C-cex.

Please cast your vote so we can get listed on this exchange.

https://c-cex.com/?id=vote

Okay, I know there are like 200 miners on this coin. Everyone vote today & tomorrow and we will be top of the list  Grin

Of course it won't be that easy because some people are just too lazy to vote. I think it would be really nice to get on a bigger exchange though. Does anyone know how often you can vote? I heard it is once per day.

Lets do this guys! My vote is in!!

Announcement

We've been placed on the c-cex voting list which means we can be at the top and listed on the exchange soon. But everyone has to do their part and vote. Everyone who supports this coin, please put in a little effort to vote for us to get on c-cex:
VOTE HERE --> https://c-cex.com/?id=vote

Thanks to all

Ok I as GEO_Jan has to follow this coin.
I'm a GIS-expert looking for cryptocurrency application for mapping, processing, visualisation and much more.

That is so great to have you on board GEO_Jan! Let's chat sometime about geo + crypto Smiley

DEV, what do you think about adding GEO on empoex?

Yes that sounds good. More exchanges, more exposure. We will be in contact with them.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: January 29, 2015, 06:33:23 PM
Are there any plans to open up a Slack group for those who are interested in development and wanna get involved?

Perfect idea, waiting for the dev's response.

Yes most definitely. We hope to create an open source group of geo + crypto enthusiasts. The goal would be to have more people working on GeoCoin than any other cryptocurrency. Updates on this to come.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: January 28, 2015, 05:20:54 PM
is there a connection between GeoCoin and this one?

https://andarazoroflove.org/code/geocoin/
hmm, very strange

No connection whatsoever. That coin didn't have any plans for geo technologies, never made it to an exchange, no connections, dead, never alive.

Why is the block reward so low? And also how will the premine be used? Will the premine address be made public for the community to see?

The block reward is high compared to what it will be in 10 months. The premine is mainly for developments and promotions and hopefully some more GIS professionals will come on board and can get paid a little amount for a lot of work. GIS people often like to work on open source projects for free though so it's good. The address can be made public.

This sounds like a good idea since there is some concern over the pm, could you please do that Tobler?

Yes of course, the block explorer shows this for block 1: http://104.236.52.122:8331/b/86S6ZuHZd

The only concern I have heard about the premine is from my developers telling me its not enough  Cheesy

I wanna buy! Always wanna buy new ideas! Smiley

There's cryptopia with low volume and some very low prices which you can scoop up until it gets on a bigger exchange - which requires a working block explorer as far as I know.

My post #368 - It will be good if you boost your work with BE... Smiley

Block explorer is on the way
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: January 26, 2015, 03:23:46 AM
Price, price and price, but what can I do with this coin?

Well at one point there was talk about what the coin could offer and how it could be bettered, but the moment it got to exchange its been all about how much one can make off of it. This is what turns good devs into greedy devs. Coin could potentially be abandoned given these circumstances.

I don't think the dev is in it for a pump/dump, he seems to honestly be in it for the development towards something real. If you look at all the coins that have pumped big over the last couple years nearly all have been pump/dump scams with bs promises that never happened. Here, we have a dev saying what he is aiming for (which is pretty exciting) and admitting it won't happen next week, but long term he expects this coin to be huge. We'll see, but this coin looks more promising than something like Bitstake, for example, that is an obvious scam/shit coin pumped by the usual suspects. I make no apologies that I used my profits from that shit to mine this coin that I feel could actually be real.

I would like to just point out that the first stages of the roadmap are things that could be accomplished with about 20 dollars and an Hour worth of time(could be achieved with a free host). This mind you is something that shouldn't even be on a road map and is standard to offering a service to the community. It should be offered with initial ANN with all information in one place, the fact that this is not here shows a lack of care and time with release and the overall lack of personal investment with their own coin.

Hi, we put in lots of time and effort to do things properly. If you make a website in 1 hour, it won't be impressive. Website and block explorer are on the way.

So you guys are in the GIS sector. So I understand "geominer" will take connection location data and create a shapefile with hash information so we can determine where the most hash/mining is coming from? You Could also include payout etc. within that dataset. With that data you could create a heat map, which would look pretty cool.

There should be no issue with creating any of this (without a "geominer") and would actually be quite easy. You might aswell do something GIS related to further incorporate the name and features of the coin right now.

All this could be potentially python scripted to run in Arc automatically and then pushed to a geodatabase that can be pulled via kml for those who have no access to applications like Arcmap etc.

Hi, and thank you for your comment. The geominer is conceptual at this point so nothing is set in stone. Geominer will process raster data, for example a miner may process 1 pixel or tile at a time (depending on the GIS analysis). The more hashing power, the more pixels you compute, the more coins you get. The output would most likely be a heat map of sorts. Users will be able to see the output of the geominer as geotechnical models of the earth, which will most likely be viewed with online mapping technology such as OpenStreetMap, Google Earth/Maps, etc. We are bringing a new concept to the GIS industry. I call it "Enormous Geographic Data Analysis (EGDA)". The idea is to use a huge amount of computing power to do detailed GIS analysis all over the world. The implications of this could be world changing.

Using python and ArcGIS is a good solution but we plan to use OpenSource GIS which in many ways is more development friendly. Are you a GIS professional? We are building a community of open source GIS developers Smiley

Sometimes anti-virus programs think there is a virus when there isn't. There is no virus in the wallet.

Thanks for all the mining support everyone! The coin distribution looks like it is going very well due to the lack of mining rentals.
