101  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: it is possible can hack my wed wallet? on: September 08, 2015, 03:42:28 PM
In crypto world any kind of hack is possible, you can't be safe 100% against an hacking attack

You have to know that you can generate coin with POS using the wallet on a virtual machine and let it works h24.
So you can have a lot of coins without expensive hardware.

Trying to understand how proof of stake vs proof workS...
also would like to hear opinions and strategies from people who walk the pos walk...

many thanks!

Well, PoS is much cheaper than PoW. In PoS, you leave your wallet open to stake your coins, read carefully the coins specs and try to understand if leaving your wallet open (means your PC always on) is profitable or not. Usually developers propose high PoS rewards to attract investors.
In the other hand, PoW requires mining equipment that can be relatively cheap (like GPU cards) or professional (ASIC). Surely more expensive than PoS, but mining guarantees coin stability and strenght.

Hi Harvin:

Are the prices stable?
Bitcoin price is far away from stable. I think it will take years.

Are miners as dead as they use to be?
Unfortunately, home mining is not profitable anymore, but wait: if you live in a country where electricity is cheap (like China) and you want to invest money to get next gen low-consumption miners and build a serious farm, I suggest you to do some calcs Wink

What miners do people use?
Mostly S5s....but check this out https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1156770.0

Sites to avoid and sites I can trust?
Maybe I'm too paranoid but...try to avoid as much sites as you can: gambling, exchanges (exit scams are more common than expected), please avoid all the sites that promises you to double your coins, they are ponzi schemes. Just read bitcointalk to get updates on Bitcoin world.

The best wallet?(old wallet was blockchain)
If you want a local wallet, I suggest Multibit. If you want an online wallet, I would try greenaddress, it's much safer than blockchain.info

Where can I fit in being a gambler or a professional gambler?
Don't do it. Be smart and don't gamble, you will save more money!

I use AWS of Amazon to make virtual machine and put wallet in to use it as a node.
You can make a machine for free.

the amount you have is not enough to big profit, but it's enough to go fast to 0 balance.
Btw I think you should play a fast entry exit from coins, remember to calculate the fee, and you can earn something even entering @100 and exiting @120 for example.
The more you scalp with success the more you'll gain.
Buy low sell high.
I suggest you to play with some new altcoin lauched on yobit, at this moment BRE is very interesting, try to buy @3k and I think you can easily sell @4k to 6k in less than a day.

If you can't profit with $5 (0.02 BTC), you can't profit with $5 billion. The dollar amount isn't what matters, it's what you do with it.
for profit I mean PROFIT, not "oh gosh I've made 0.001 today I'm going to celebrate!"
For profit I mean "oh gosh I've made 1BTC today" This is a start.
So making profit with 0.02 has starting amount is not as easy as start with 5btc for example.
At the same time playing with 5 btc doesn't mean that you can make profit, you can even lose much more than playing with 0.02.
But playing in the right way and making a 2x trade with a 1BTC is not like made a perfect trade and made 2x with 0.02.

On, in that case, you can't profit unless you have at least 1000 BTC (25k), because 1 BTC ($250) is nothing. You need at least 20k+ to classify it as profitable.

See where I'm going?
I see. But make a profit of $1 is not like a profit of $250.
You see my point?
For someone $250 is a nice amount to gain, $1 too you you're an homeless.

110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core Help on: September 07, 2015, 05:05:20 PM
My advice is to use some wallet with online blockchain, from multibit/multibitHD to ethereum or greenaddress.
But if you want to use the core version you probably can find the full chain in some torrent site, so you can download it much faster.
