I think an update is necessary as of now more than two weeks since last communication was made on twitter. People are interested in knowing more what is the plan for listing on exchanges ? I don't think there is any difficulty for any DAG based coin to get listed on any exchange. We can look at the available exchanges for IOTA and almost all top exchanges are where it is being traded. If you don't upgrade client upon hard fork you will remain on old chain @Streyter. Being on old chain meaning your transactions will not be shown on block explorer and sending/receiving can lost on ways.
