Which one should I use for making a cold wallet on an offline computer?

For the paper wallet you can go to the top right corner > settings > backup > create brainkey backup. With the brainkey and your acc. name you can restore the wallet without a file.
.

I asked about http://paperwallet.bitshares.eu/ and http://docs.bitshares.org/bitshares/user/security-cold.html
There is no top right corner.

I want to make an offline wallet!

The safest approach is to run your own full node. Otherwise, when using web wallet(s), your private keys are "installed" in the browser, and it can't be considered as offline anymore, even if you store the key(s) offline. It's clearly stated in the docs page above.
Quote
Note that this approach should not be considered cold as the private keys has been installed in the browser first.

Why would someone accumulate for months, and then sell off at the lowest possible price?

If the cost of the accumulated value is lower than number of coins multiplied by the price, then it's profitable, even if the price is low.
For short term holders quick profit is the main (and probably the only) factor.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: April 16, 2018, 12:59:04 PM
The price in USD is heavily dependent on the price of bitcoin and is somewhat irrelevant until ETC gets many more ETC/USD pairs, right now if you want to buy ETC in most cases you have to buy BTC first. ETC was around $45 when BTC was at an all time high.

What matters is price in bitcoin, and if you look at the chart its consolidated and gone sideways since the big pump back in the summer of 2017 (just like alot of other altcoins), so its fair to assume that ETC will follow suit of an altcoin pump in the future.

Like many others have said....it could potentially be a good buy at this price in btc. good luck, not financial advice. dyor

You know, I wouldn't count on USD pairs to decrease ETC's dependency on BTC or ETH.
It might be similar to BCH when, despite many USD pairs, BCH/BTC ratio is declining, similarly to ETC/ETH.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 16, 2018, 12:51:41 PM
The past week has been great for the Byteball holders as we continue to witness the increase in price of it together with BTC. I know that most of you are here in this thread with questions regarding the technology behind this coin or other stuff but I just can't contain myself due to its price right now. It really appears that we have hit the bottom and is looking for a great reversal in the coming weeks (if BTC doesn't f*ck this up).

Looking forward to see this in ATH in the very near future.
The whole market grown up considerably, so Byteball is not exception.
However, it is definitely good to see Byteball rose significantly in recent days, in both trading pairs (BTC and fiat). I believe that with lots of promising features which Byteball can bring to community, the coin has high probability to keep growing in the future.
Let's support the project and stay tuned for more good news from its team and upcoming price movements (hope that upward movements).

Can you specify what exchanges are listing FIAT pairs for Byteball?
There're 4 exchanges in total listed on https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/byteball/#markets, and those are BTC pairs only.

The Coin to Watch in 2018? BTX

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X__usFXG_h0

Guys, please share this video with anyone interested in cryptocurrency!
20 minutes interview with Bitcore devs.

This video together with QBHorse‘s summary of the recent developments and my recent news + link list info should give an in-depth oversight about Bitcore‘s current status of development and things that can be expected in the future.

- Your Bitcore team
Thumbs up! I am spreading news and insights about Bitcore since the beginning. I must admit I was really skeptic at first but after seeing how things have been done here I became an active supporter. Keep it up

At the very beginning most of the people were skeptic I guess. I was very skeptic about the initial distribution method, which was really terrible with the first 1000 wallets rule, topped by the even worse plan of dropping most of the coins in one single shot in november. Then things became better and better and now I am very optimistic.

Things are looking good, but still the airdrops are so high now, that the inflation is kinda crazy... but the price is not going down much more, so that means there is pretty high buy power. When the airdrops stops in three weeks, we should all start to feel the optimism Smiley

The airdrops end in three weeks, but the dumping will last longer. Bad news is that without a bigger exchange it will last much longer since there isn't enough liquidity.

where you can find ANKORUS=ANk tokens trading

https://forkdelta.github.io/#!/trade/0xaa4ab1c817e4df7d25ce4d42352649d592a3bba0-ETH

without any exchange other than ED or FD I think there is no progress from volume or price, hopefully the team immediately find new exchange for this coin

Those two exchanges are really wierd. How can the price be less then the ICO? The sell and buy price are miles apart. The sell price is wrong but the buy price is usually right or at least much better. This seems to be happening with many tokens.

The price is less than ICO because they refunded participants and allowed to keep their tokens, so people just got the tokens for free, and dumping now.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ETD] EARTHMEDZ | Project Forum on: April 13, 2018, 02:31:29 PM
Who will manage information that is coming in form of reviews, recommendations on manufactures, online stores?

Thanks. All information will be stored on the transparent Blockchain network.  Earthmedz is conscious of the fact that data is one of the most valuable assets,  as such,  our storage system will run on a decentralized public Blockchain network while data will be stored on our private server. For this purpose, we develop the ETD Vault which will be an open source software.

So, where finally all the information will be stored? On "transparent blockchain network", or on your private server?

I am curious to hear some thoughts on these critics.

For me Golem is one of the most overhyped projects in crypto. They collected hundreds of millions to create a toy for rendering using Blender.
Maybe they will find and develop more usecases for their system, but it took so long to get to Brass, that the perspective is really long long term.
Additionally people doubt it will work eventually. In the meantime enjoy the pump  Grin
they raised 8 million dollars, get your facts straight. its working fine.

The fact is they raised 820,000 ETH, and I doubt they sold all of it, so the value of the funds is much higher than $8M.

111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: April 12, 2018, 03:28:21 PM
One of the proposed malleability fixes for BCH moves the signature out of the transaction area the exact same way as segwit with the only difference being that on BCH it's just moved permanently and everyone is forced to the new system

with one of the proposed BCH fixes this would completely change the security model for a new system and you would not be able to use the one Bitcoin has used for the last 9 years.

Are these claims true about a proposed BCH malleability fix?

So tek claims. He is partially right about the first one. A separation of signature data from the rest of the transaction data has indeed been proposed as a malleability fix. Funny thing about proposals - anyone can make one. Even an insane one. Not saying the concept of separating sig from tx is necessarily insane, just saying that there are essentially zero barriers to making a proposal.

To get the proposal implemented, however, requires consensus. There is no consensus for this proposal at this time.

Quote
If not it needs to be debunked.

Despite a direct challenge, tek has provided zero rationale for tek's claim that this proposal will change Bitcoin's security model. Zero. Tek merely dodges the question. See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2040221.msg34496915#msg34496915

It is possible there is a proposal for BCH that separates sig from tx and changes the security model. Possible. until tek coughs up the text of the relevant proposal, there is no knowing.

Salacious claims require support of evidence. The ball is in tek's court. Put up or shut up.

If tek can establish such a proposal actually exists, it is then impingent upon tek to show that there is a snowball's chance in hell of it ever getting adopted. As if.

Unless tek steps forward with some evidence, you can safely consider this claim debunked, dispatched, and discredited.

Quote
If there is such a proposal I believe it could not possibly be adopted in such a way, as it appears that most Bitcoin Cash users would not accept to be forced into a new system.

I think you sum up the situation rather well - Bitcoin Cash users are unlikely to accept being forced into such a system.

The proposed fixes are listed here

https://github.com/bitcoincashorg/workgroups/blob/master/wg-malfix/summaries/20180130%20-%20Meeting%20Summary.md

Yes they are proposals nothing more I'm not saying that any will be adopted just that their is a chance

As for Bitcoin Cash users won't accept being forced into a new system the whole premise of Bitcoin cash is users nodes don't matter only mining nodes matter so you will get forced if the exchanges upgrade and the miners upgrade the users are forced to either upgrade because you use SPV wallets or sell taking huge losses

The only reason BTC users can have a say is the users run the majority of the nodes therefore the miners etc won't switch as it's not in their interest to mine something the vast majority of users define worthless

I'd say the "Do Nothing" option is the best for now, so BCH can watch how BTC's LN evolves, and if it's really worth fixing malleability.
If BTC's LN proves to be good idea, then BCH might eventually intoduce a fix, but for now it's not really neccessary.

The lead developer for Bitcoin Cash, Amaury Séchet...
Amaury is lead dev for Bitcoin ABC.

Bitcoin ABC is Bitcoin Cash, ABC controls the project and decides what is happening

Amaury was supposedly paid for 1 years work by bitmain to fork it and get it off the ground

Bitcoin Cash was a contingency plan bitmain is getting their main business taken from under them there was talks of a PoW change and bitmain needed something they could control so their miners couldn't be made obsolete.

The same is happening now with monero fluffy pony tweaked the algorithm to brick bitmains cryptonight miners so they forked off monero classic that supports bitmain (is paid for by) so they can continue to have a coin that is in their control and they can guarantee it's future.

Well, I thought Bitcoin ABC is just a client for Bitcoin Cash along with Unlimited, XT, and few smaller ones, no...?

ABC calls the shots though the others just have to play along

ABC is kind of like the official client and the one every one uses unlimited and xt don't really get a say

The fixed HF schedule is set by ABC and it's ABC that dictates what gets added therefore ABC is BCH

Unlike core and the other Bitcoin clients where the community gets to decide ABC just does what it's paid to do

There is a huge amount of people that supports cash but not the enabling of new opcodes and I expect another split to happen soon 0.17 has been out for maybe close to a week so far and it's showing so far nobody has "upgraded" yet

ABC is indeed dominant client, but BUCash is doing pretty well (470 nodes, 31,8% of the network) https://cashnodes.bitcoinunlimited.info/
Also, nodes are being upgraded, actually - 87 nodes have 0.17 installed.

Just ¢15 to $4 in BTC/BTX pair on Livecoin.

At the end of airdrop it will be great prize for hodlers! You could buy at $2 and maybe someone at $1.
It's much better than you have bought when price was $40!

More pink, more pictures and more prayers!

I'm dumping down the earth.

Why do you think it will go down to $1?
The dev is very active and give weekly and some time a daily update. This project Bitcore needs to be listed on a bigger exchange.

There will be sell pressure until all airdropers will be out of their free coins. Then you can expect a consolidation, and then (maybe) a bull market.
$1 is far from current level, but market depth is rather weak, so everything is possible  Sad

Countdown till Token Migration (opens 4th April 2018):

https://migration.theqrl.org/
Is this for people to change the erc tokens to the new cyptonote ones? Is it also when the mainnet goes online?

No this is not the launch of main net. First they will do the external audit. From now on you can migrate your tokens on this site. https://migration.theqrl.org

See blog:
https://medium.com/the-quantum-resistant-ledger/qrl-token-migration-begins-b0d5b53f697f

You will have plenty of time to do this, even after main net launch, but it might cost some fee after main net launch.

Haven't found any time limit for the migration. Is there such limit at all, or you can migrate at any time, like years from now for example...?
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XEL] :: Elastic - The Decentralized Supercomputer :: on: April 10, 2018, 02:36:18 PM
If BTC goes up again I'm sure XEL will pump at least 4500 satoshi.
Today there is a fast pump that the whales do.
It proves that XEL the next few days there will be a good signal.

It's not a pump, its a second stage of accumulation after the news about testnet release. It could be considered as a pump if it reached x2-x3 by one candle.

How do you think XEL's new price this month Huh
Would it go back to 3k satoshi or towards 5k Huh
If this accumulates XEL will return to 3k satoshi.

You can try to predict XEL based on Golem's recent Brass release. This is their first mainnet release, so we can observe market's reaction.
XEL is also close to the release of its main features, and it's gonna be really interesting to see the market's perception for both projects.

Sorry about the pump. But tjere is no whale incoming pump

There's a pump on Golem too, so it looks more like a quick super-computers pump and dump, rather than related directly to XEL  Smiley
Similar to XEL, Golem has much higher volume too.

Or maybe it's serious now, since XEL has it's tested and Golem is approaching Brass

I will present plan B in ~4 weeks or so.. The exchange is off (for now), it has some serious security issues, and its not safe for trading..

Meanwhile, hodl or sell....

Meanwhile still not a single word about plan B. Can you disclose anything about where this project is heading? Would be greatly appreciated, we've been without news, without slack, without the new telegram group, without anything except for the quoted message above..
Agreed, this can't go on any longer. It's time you (BanzaiBTC) finally start telling us what we can expect and what your ideas are, you've kept us in suspense long enough. I sincerely have a hard time understanding your true motivation and reasoning, if any. Especially considering you haven't (yet) replied to any of the private messages I've sent you, why?

The exchange was history a long time ago, let alone it was built or not. Either way, it's time you stop the waiting-game and start providing your community with real and honest answers. Seriously, what's going on?

Luc, PIO is over, and I think Banzai is just  trying to prolong it for some reason.
I'd not count on anything anymore - this project failed, and he's probably focusing on other stuff.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: April 09, 2018, 08:25:00 AM
Please tell me which exchange is the best place to buy NEM at the moment? I would be grateful if you would give me some advice. I want to replenish my portfolio.

Do you have a bittrex fully verified the account?

If you have an account then that will be the best option because their fees also not high.

I bought most of my NEM from bittrex and never had any issues either in deposit or withdraw. But remember that if you don't have a fully verified account then they may not allow you to withdraw your coins.

I dont have full verified account and i still sell buy xem and btc. Daily limit to withdraw btc or xem is 0.4 btc wich is not much but my monthly trade is less then 0.3 btc so am fine with that.

Also full verified accounts cant trade fiat and margin trade and have daily limit to 100 BTC.

Long back I was also trading with the small amount with an unverified account but one day suddenly they didn't allow me to withdraw my coins. The total worth was around 0.1 BTC and when I contacted their support team they ask me to verify my account first then I can withdraw my coins. Luckily my account got verified within seconds or almost instantly after uploading my documents.

So if your using unverified account with bittrex then be careful they may ask you to verify your account at any time.

Yes, Bittrex doesn't have fiat trading feature.

To be precise, if you have unverified account, they won't allow you withdraw, but they will probably allow you to deposit your funds   Shocked (at least it was possible some time ago, and I've not cheked recently) be careful with them. NEM is listed on Binance and Poloniex, but also on many smaller exchanges https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/nem/#markets
