How does very first ICO price compare to current market? Are they underwater too?

No, they have made several thousands of percent ROI.

Really, what was the ico price?

103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Looks like the DASH party is over. on: March 14, 2017, 12:59:59 AM
no the party is not yet over, Dash has grown to 77$ so the party is still continue, i still have no idea why the price suddenly go up so fast and can be stable for more than a week, I know Dash made some impressive movement in 2016 but I never expected the price can sky-rocket until this point, but I am glad that an alt coin can grow like this

As long as Ver is footing the bill, the party can go on for awhile.

Didn't Roger Ver come out strongly backing Mt Gox in the last days before it collapsed? That guy has a bad vibe about him, shonky as hell, just got super lucky as early btc adopter. Looks like he'd sell his own mother to further his bitcoin arguments, supporting DASH will blow up in his face.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 13, 2017, 10:43:40 AM
The hacker dumped the price to 152 sat on cryptopia, so well good job jl777 ,now my investment worth a dust Angry

Things are grim indeed, but kmd roadmap is still best in crypto, just need to navigate through this situation and restore confidence as soon as possible
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CRYPTO BULLION (CBX) | Inventor of PoSP! on: March 13, 2017, 10:37:32 AM

This thread have 181 pages but now it is becoming too silent. Maybe dev or community should think something that make CBX great again?  Grin

Why not restart signature post bounty campIgn from 2016?

Yes, it would be best!

But the founder sleeps ...: /

I already offered my support, I even invest in CBX in a future if he starts to work ...

Who is the founder, who else are current dev team? Was there a take over in the past, or same people from 2013?

The truth is not of the history of CBX. But I worked on the project.

The current DEV sleeps, you need to move so CBX will get to know you.

I think of a relaunch, with projects, good investors, a promotion like last years and CBX will alone at good price ...

It's not the founder or team that sleeps, it's the community that sleeps. And that does not inspire much for others to be active.
When community is more vibrant then more people feel not so alone in their efforts for cbx. Community and devteam together should be a team as well as investors.

Take for example Poloniex. We need dozens of requests to list CBX there. This is only possible by action of community and supporters. 2 weeks ago, only
1 guy has posted here saying that he made a request. That's not how we're going to get there.... (https://poloniex.com/coinRequest)

When more people do stuff, anything that helps, then others join the action more easily. Do something  Cheesy

I agree, community and devs get more active in continuous circle of influence, need something to kick this process up a gear, like a contest, or game etc

Maybe some sports betting using CBX
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 13, 2017, 09:29:36 AM

If the attacker wanted a bounty, he/she should have put a white hat on.  Now the attacker can go eat a dick.

Issue is avoiding a rollback, which is still possible

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_bitcoin

Quote
On 6 August 2010, a major vulnerability in the bitcoin protocol was spotted. Transactions weren't properly verified before they were included in the transaction log or blockchain, which let users bypass bitcoin's economic restrictions and create an indefinite number of bitcoins. On 15 August, the vulnerability was exploited; over 184 billion bitcoins were generated in a transaction, and sent to two addresses on the network. Within hours, the transaction was spotted and erased from the transaction log after the bug was fixed and the network forked to an updated version of the bitcoin protocol. This was the only major security flaw found and exploited in bitcoin's history.

The highlighted portion is essentially what has happened. For those that dont understand that a coin's emission and supply are the MOST important things for people to trust, I am not sure what to say. A coin that is allowed to be created out of thin air would lose a lot more trust than stopping the chain at an announced block in realtime and then doing what you said you would do

With btc incident there was no way to burn 184 billion coins, so rollback was only choice, but in kmd case there is another option

Why can't you fix coin emission problem, but instead of rollback negotiate a fair bounty for the hacker. In return he sends jl777 his excess falsely created coins which get burnt. Then equivalent number coins that hacker keeps is burnt from dev premine funds. Overall effect on coin supply is zero, emission bug fixed, hacker gets a bounty paid from dev premine coins. Much better solution. How can you unscramble hacker dumping of coins that will soon not exist after rollback? The rollback option is far more trouble.

Ethereum Classic is better than Ethereum for crypto true believers...

Go away.

Why, this isn't your thread, you just a troll

Edit: Komodo classic would be a disaster!

Yeah OK...   because Ethereum Classic is doing so well compared to Ethereum...   Roll Eyes

Ethereum Classic is better than Ethereum for crypto true believers, I don't think kmd classic is viable, but plenty will exit kmodo over this all the same
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 13, 2017, 05:45:37 AM
I suspect the answer, but wouldn't hurt to ask. Would it be fare to use ICO funds to buy up equal amount of KMD attacker dumped (if any)?

2639 BTC were raised. At ICO price of 1 KMD = 0.00012909 BTC, If 10 million KMDs are generated by hacker that amounts to 1290 BTC.

Of cource the above calcs are approximates but still half of the Raised BTC will be gone. Not a good option.

Why not make a deal with hacker, he keeps 2M and returns 8M, and then no rollback.

@hacker, you must be reading, you're going to get nothing with a rollback, make an offer
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 13, 2017, 04:52:53 AM
This was a bug in the code, actually it was code that was missing and allowed a vout to be created that wasnt constrained. It is closer to the billions of bitcoins bug.

I announced the block that will be rolled back to, pretty much in realtime, so it is more a stopping the chain at 235300 than rolling back. of course a few hundred blocks were generated during the time to make the fix. so yes, technically it is a rollback of a few hours, of the blocks that happened after 235300 was announced.

Let us not make a political circus out of this. It was a bug that was abused.

The attack started about 36 hours ago during the weekend. We detected it about 6 hours ago and had a fix that would go into effect at 236000. At that point the attacker would have had coins, but it would have been absorbable.

Then the attacker must have seen that things will be cutoff at 236000 and he went wild. He started a high frequency attack and started to move funds, even some z-transactions.

There were 15 blocks prior to 235300 with the illicit KMD in vout1 and the new version prevents any block with any tx that spends any of these 15 as invalid. Unfortunately, this will require a resync of the chain as the local DB has invalid blocks in it and even with the -rewind, komodod will be complaining.

If you are running native komodod, you need to update and resync. delete the usual blockchain files and komodostate in the ~/.komodo folder. Make sure to not delete your wallet.

The simplest is to leave the illicit KMD in the utxo where they are, frozen. So there wont be any dilution due to this.

A rollback for komodo now becomes the Dash 'premine' troll fest forever though, is it worth it jl777?

Rollback violates core crypto prinicipal, I think only do for catastrophic loss, like DAO.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 13, 2017, 04:49:37 AM
If we don't roll back we are only devaluing the whole ecosystem...How many coins do we think he/she got?

If an equivalent amount is burnt from the dev premine it's basically paying the attacker a bug bounty from dev funds, all other investors are no worse off.

Rollback is thermonuclear option, it can KILL komodo and SuperNET today!

Paying a bounty to a guy who found dangerous bug is well worth it IMO

+1

This is the way guys, burn same amou t attacker got from dev funds!

Rollback will never be forgotten, but a bug bounty ... no one would remember in 6 months.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 13, 2017, 03:54:04 AM
An attacker has taken advantage of an exploit and is generating coins. We made a new version that would stop this at 236000 but the attacker ramped things up to levels that will force us to rollback the chain to 235300.

Please do not do any transactions until we get a new version out that solves this.

more details after this attack is over

Attacker found a bug, let him keep the coins as a reward. Rollback is last resort,  unless he got 5% of coin supply or more, rollback is far worse outcome.

Remember BTER hack ... no rollback from NXT devs was right decision then, and is right descision for komodo now.

Hacker did a service finding bug ... let him keep the coins, please!

Edit: Komodo classic would be a disaster!

115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: March 12, 2017, 11:44:17 PM

Just stfu, you Dash-obsessed retard. No one in their right mind gives a shit about what you have to say much less believe a single word you dare to type in here. You are a criminal scammer and human scum. One day you will rot in prison for being the despicable low life that you are.

Much more likely that people go to prison for illegal securities activities, trolling this forum is no interest to SEC, but DASH pump obviously would be.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash numbers on: March 12, 2017, 11:37:56 PM
Isn't the most relevant number going to be number of charges, prosecutions, fines and years in jail for illegal securities activities?
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Looks like the DASH party is over. on: March 12, 2017, 10:22:37 PM
The ridiculous DASH hype, unjustified to my knowledge, has been finished. The price is naturally crashing, while the bitcoin price is naturally growing. Altcoins are being sold to join the BTC train, no wait, the BTC rocket.

So who lost money with this? and who, hopefully, made a killing? This was a good pump, i'll give you that. I wish I was holding some, but I had no reason to buy when it was 5 dollars.

According to what I read in different forum about DASH, there are other community are favored in it and some are not, But for whatever it is happening now bitcoin so far the value is continuously growing while most of the altcoin was dropping the price also. But still dash is high compare to other altcoin.

So apparently DASH is not liquid because of masternodes. If you did your research there are over 7 million DASH available, but the problem is most masternodes won't sell, meaning the price would have to go alot higher for some masternode owner willing to sell his coins. But probably most masternodes won't sell due to interest they get in DASH for being a masternode. Guess it will be the greatest pump when when it keeps going higher and no sellers.

How long before SEC crackdown on DASH? This pump pretty obvious to regulators.
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash: masternode the same as Ripple validator? on: March 12, 2017, 10:18:01 PM
Ripple replaces mining with a system of "validators." These special nodes use consensus to agree in which transactions to include in the next ledger. Their decisions are broadcast through the network as messages signed with their public key. Each node (computer running the rippled software) in the RCL network is responsible for deciding its "UNL" (which stands for Unique Node List). This list controls which validators the node cares about.

For everyone on the network to agree on the same ledger chain, there are various rules about how the UNL should be formed. Specifically that there should be a minimum amount of overlap of people's UNLs. We won't get into that here.

The most important factor in choosing this UNL, is to make sure that you pick validators which are not colluding. There is a set of rules and best practices for validators to enforce this. The most important is that validators must be publicly identified. For example, if hypothetically Microsoft is running a validator then it should publish its public key in a way that certifies Microsoft is under control of the validator. An easy way to do this is to put a text file with the public key at the company's domain, reachable via HTTPS with a known certificate. For example at https://microsoft.com/ripple.txt

Now I am looking at this masternode system of Dash and it seems to be that its essentially the same as Ripple validators (with minor technical differences). But in Dash, the masternodes identity is secret. This is exactly the scenario that Ripple describes as insecure!

Am I missing something here?

No, you're not missing anything afaik, the Dash masternode setup is a house of cards built on shifting sands, enough to make Dash a no-go investment, more so than dubious instamine and likely illegal securities issue SEC prosecutions even. Makes The DAO look good. When Dash falls over the aftermath will be good for crypto though, will reveal to all what are fundamentals of good crypto finance platforms, all Dash has done is extend marketing, nothing more.

120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: March 12, 2017, 08:58:04 PM
I know different platform but interesting to note about Golem Project.

Quote
Given the number of storage-oriented projects in the decentralization/peer-to-peer world, it may seem surprising that one of Golem’s remaining unsolved issues is the resource-sharing mechanism. Unfortunately, what works for storage does not necessarily work for efficient file transfer. We’ll offer a more detailed explanation of this in a separate blog post, but what is clear for us now is that this area still needs a lot of research. For example, while IPFS has truly brain-melting long-term potential, we are having some difficulty in getting it to play well with Golem’s model. Meanwhile, we are working on concurrent solutions, which is one of the reasons we have not scaled up testnet just yet: At present, we have not decided which will make it to release along with IPFS. Certainly this will be subject to heavy debate and testing, so if you are a testnet user, don’t be surprised if some data is lost in transfer over the next few weeks — you have been warned!

https://blog.golemproject.net/golem-and-the-road-to-brass-990c6d210c8d#.3bt082y5i
I look at Golem, just plans mostly, project Elastic is a week from launching a viable distributed computing network, but so far no marketing effort, so no hype.

Crypto MK is heavily dominated by marketing, but only centralised projects can do it well, go figure
