If you want a substitute for horse race, I think that it will be a good alternative. I too find it quirky but they have a good concept.

In the horse race, you still have (or can get) the data of: - breed - past injuries - age - jockey - horse physical condition And in marble, the difference between one and another is only about color. Everything else, material, shape, weight, is pretty much the same.
