My boinc stats also decreased quite much at first but now my points are climbing up very oddly Smiley

BOINC average credits or total utilization?
What CPU do you have?

Are we sure the scrypt-sleep function is working properly...? My BOINC Daily Credits seems to actually be decreasing (I've gone from 1373 down to 1360 credits since block 62000)... If my gpu is spending time sleeping it should be working on BOINC projects and INCREASING my daily credits, shouldn't it...?

It's working fine on my rigs. How many GPU tasks have you done since then + what projects?
Sometimes there can be a delay of x hours or even a couple days before the BOINC project grants claimed credit for returned tasks. So I would wait a couple days to see.
Also if you go to the projects homepage you can check for your returned tasks that are waiting to receive credit.

Hope this helps,
Andrew.

10-15$, while everyone of us gets 150 GRC per day for BOINC mining which is independent from GPU hashing power and coin diff? It is doubtful :\
For example i have Intel Q6600, which costs $150.00 and i get 150 GRC each day with it. And even 2 times cheaper CPU will give same 150 GRC.

I was under the impression there is a cap on the max number of cpu miners of about 576 or so . So after that they start competing among themselves. Correct me if I am wrong on that please.

Also still hope for us .. look at Vertcoin and Maxcoin .. I don't think they have any utility vlue yet they have made it based on just a change in algo + a good marketing strategy. So I think we have good chances of getting to that level if we all decide to hold.

What I am imagining is a whole lot of miners putting their power to help science (and as a result prices would go up too). Lets see only time will tell .. but I won't give up on being positive about it Cheesy.

Hi,

Yes, there is a 576 BOINC blocks a day cap.  As Rob explained it is 576 because the number of GPU blocks per day is too ~ 576.(2.5 minutes per block) So the GPU and CPU(BOINC) mining systems do generate the same amount of GRC.

Since 128 BOINC miners started mining, their average credits started to play role in how much GRC will they get in a day. So it will get increasingly difficult to get the full 150 GRC/day and it will need faster, better and more cpus to reach in the future.
At this moment we have over 550 BOINC miners, so very close to reaching the payout cap.

I think, that with the BOINC mining it is the same as with GPU mining. Miners will need to get better hw to keep up with the competition and the price can easily go really high.

one of the biggest chinese website 163.com reports Gridcoin in one article.

http://media.163.com/14/0106/14/9HTOLTPH00762OM6.html

www.163.com has a global ranking of 17! and 5 in china.

see here: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/163.com

GRC-Gridcoin is still missing. The only coin which benefits the real science combining boinc computation and coin mining.

A lot of people have been asking for an alt coin that uses BOINC or the World Community Grid. Now there is one.

Hi Lmue,

Awesome news!

+1 for adding to crypto trade!

Hi everyone!

I have an issue regarding CPU mining.
Since malaria control stopped working, the gridcoin client is still trying to send beacons for that project however if it fails(as it always does because the project is down) it does not try to send beacons to any other project that is added in the client and the credits are shown correctly..so the other projects even though they are working properly do not get recognized by gridcoin and don't pay anything.

Anybody else encoutered this problem?

Rob is it possible to do anything about it?

Thanks,
Regards,
Andrew.

Thank you to all the people who joined the Gridcoin Boinc team in the past few days,

We are now ranked: 5,505 out of 99,779 thanks to you guys.  Cool

On our way to that number 1 spot  Tongue

Another reminder if you haven't yet done so:

"To join a team, all you have to do is log into the project’s website with the credentials you used when adding it to your BOINC client, find the Team page, search for Gridcoin, and join! Be aware that not every project may support teams."

@ aysyr & Gridcoin -  thanks for the replies.

This may be a face-palm moment but I don't have any GRC in my wallet. For some reason  I thought the beacon would loop the payment back on itself and so not require a balance. Please can you/someone send me enough GRC to get started  Roll Eyes

GG6XHgjJYmzaSxAeRTeRRhC1g3Smgk1QDh

If this fixes the issue 'll add a post to the 'How to CPU mine' thread as I think the current explanations miss this out.

I have Gridcoin v1.1.5.7-g71-prod

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

I will add it to the tutorial, sorry for the troubles.

Just a quick update for cpu miners...malaria.net are performing some maintenance and you will see a "-1" error in Projects Console. This error means that your wallet address is not equal to the BOINC username. However I think it is due to the maintenance..every machine I CPU mine on shows this error since this morning for this project, it was ok earlier and I didn't do any changes. It shows the creedits correctly for other projects.
So I would suggest for everyone to run atleast 2 projects to have backup in case one goes down temporarily.

Hope this helps,
Andrew.

Guys, is anybody having trouble with poolmining?

My GPU hashing speed: 320 KH/s, CPU utilization = 90 %.

For 15 hours I haven't been rewarded anything (with poolmining). I launched poolmining yesterday 25 hours ago and all I got is 64 GRC (two rewards with ~32 GRC each).
After the last reward (~32 GRC), which was 15 hours ago [2014-01-22 15:53 local time], I found two blocks for pool 0:
Quote
2014-01-22 22:31:57: Listener for "Default": [2014-01-22 22:31:56] Found block for pool 0!
2014-01-23 03:37:43: Listener for "Default": [2014-01-23 03:37:43] Found block for pool 0!
Still, no rewards.

Can somebody tell me what's going on?

Hi Boiar,

Rob turned on feature where the payouts in poolmining mode are distributed to each miner when current hour is equal to their wallet hour.
Check that in RPC console.

This feature should help with the problem of large wallets.

Hope this helps,
Andrew.

Hi everyone!

Thanks to everyone who helped me get setup with gpu mining..everything is running smoothly so far.
I'm now running 2x r9 280x and waiting for risers so I can install a third one...I've never been mining before so I'm quite surprised how much heat and noise these things make. Good thing it's winter Smiley

It's sending one beacon per project; we can't change it, it's required to prove the cpuminer is participating per project.

Thanks,
Grid

Hi Rob!
Regarding CPU Mining, I have several machines running and each one mines fine without a problem.
It takes time for the payouts to start, but I guess it is normal because the machine first needs to generate some BOINC credits.

The multiple beacon thing:
I have encountered it on several on my machines, they are all running only one project(so the beacons were sent to one address) and the maximum was 5 beacons sent in a row..separated by 26 minutes.
Also in Projects Console I have seen several times a "-3" error, which is the problem connecting to Berkley API.
So my guess would be that if there is -3 error when the client tries to send the beacon it fails and tries again in 26 minutes intervals until it succeeds.

Hope this helps.

Seems like things are really picking up and we're very close to start hitting exchanges! Looking forward to that! Smiley

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

The no suitable long-poll is normal .don't worry about it. Just make sure HW errors is 0 for all your cards. Also difficulty has risen to almost 5 now at this time. You will need a nice rig. BTW i wanted to ask what is the average daily payout from cpu mining for the time you have been mining ?

Hi!
Thanks for the quick reply.

The CPU Mining payouts have not yet been enabled so I have no clue..but from what Rob written above, the max payout per cpu miner per day is 150GRC if the miner has enough BOINC credits.

HW errors that's the HW in CG miner right? I'm basically only getting those..they also show up as "invalid" in the internal CG Miner Statistics.
Does that mean that the mining setup I used for the GPUs is wrong?

Also I have more GPUs in the rig however only one can be seen and set/overclocked in the AMD Catalyst, the CG Miner sees both of them but if I try mining with the second one it is very slow and shuts down almost immediately. What am I doing wrong or didn't do? Smiley

Regards,
Andrew.

.....Follow the instructions Andrew P .....

Hi Rob!

I've been away so I haven't been responding to the forums however I can see that you have been busy and managed to do a ton of work!!!
I greatly appreciate all what you are doing and wish you and everyone here all the best in the new year!!(I'm 2 weeks late I know:))

Great stuff regarding the CPU Mining!
For everyone interested here is the CPU Mining Tutorial https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1922-cpu-mining-tutorialtopic/

I'm CPU Mining, testing everything out and will report back. At this moment I'm waiting for the beacon to be sent out.
Regarding the payments..once everything is sorted out and enabled will the "outstanding owed amount" be paid or the cpu pool will start again?

Regarding GPU Mining:
I have finally managed to get my hands on a rig for Gridcoin, everything is set up and installed however I do have one issue.
I'm using the internal CG Miner, the instances are added as they should be, the gridcoin.conf has the "rpcallowip=127.0.0.1", "rpcport=9332", the user name, password etc.
The mining starts, CG Miner Statistics show the hash rate etc...however I only receive "Invalid" shares and if I show the CG Miner there's a line that says"no suitable long-poll found for http://127.0.0.1:9332"
and the difficulty is 264k(the difficulty showing in CG Miner I think shouldn't be a problem, right?)

Any help is greatly appreciated,
All the best,
Andrew.

Hi everyone!

Just an idea:
Would it be possible to add BOINC statistics for users in Gridcoin teams to the block explorer website?
So we would be able to check how much work we all did for BOINC, some averages, maybe a ladder sorted by who did most etc.

It would be nice to see and keep track of our contribution to BOINC.

Yes I confirm.  The difficulty should regauge within 30 minutes and the time span should auto adjust between blocks.  I think the forward/back blocks are miners on old versions trying to submit bad blocks.  They are being rejected by the majority.

Rob H.

Great, thanks for the info. Thought that might be the problem since ''listminers'' showed ~5 miners on the old one today.

Is everyone's wallet having trouble loading up the new blocks lately or is it just me?

I am updated to the latest version(rpc "upgrade" works fine), even deleted chainstate and blocks..after the blocks have been downloaded again, now the wallet sometimes is a couple blocks behind the network and takes ~15 minutes to update 1-3 blocks.

edit: I don't have any connection troubles myself Smiley
