When the hard fork is a little closer and the code is finalized, we'll be instructing and helping everyone prepare. For the last hard fork, Poloniex updated their wallets, so people who just kept their Bela on the exchange were automatically updated safely. For those who are out of the loop, we are forking the 2017 Litecoin blockchain. It's not long before Bela has all the tech that LTC has. Come join our slack with the invite button on http://Livebela.com.

Weekly Upcoming Hard Fork Update
All of the core parameters have been changed for the most part, but we haven't split the blockchains yet with the Genesis Block changes. We'll soon push changes and move onto the testing/building framework for the new Bela blockchain as well as modifying the base58 encoding.
We're also making great progress with Belacam Gamma, and everyone should see big moves from us (The Live Bela team) sometime in the next few weeks!

Hard Fork Update (11/5 - 11/11)
Finished everything laid out at the end of last week, with the exception of the Genesis Block changes. That is saved for a later date because that's where we "break" from the old chain. The tasks laid out last week are as follows:
1. Alter the parameters surrounding the genesis block and starting difficulty as well as the difficulty scaling of the system 2. Hash out the networking aspect more, and prepare a plan for migrating user data from the current blockchain to the next one
This upcoming week should mostly be the networking changes. We are moving through this portion of the project much faster than we thought we'd be able to.
As for Belacam Gamma, the official release date has not yet been announced.

10/29 - 11/4 Update on the coming Bela Hard Fork Diving into src and depends files [3b-4b]...
Finished up the depends files as well as adding everything else that's the baseline for building the crypto protocols. Not too much work there but have begun moving into the src files for the next few weeks. Most of the magic happens here, so all the alterations have to be very precise or else it'll cause a lot of headaches. Currently planning on attacking in this order: 1. Alter the parameters surrounding the genesis block and starting difficulty as well as the difficulty scaling of the system 2. See about getting the networking aspect hashed out a bit more
Belacam Gamma continues to be refined as well. We're aiming for a public release likely in early January, although we will allow testing for dedicated community members earlier.

I believe Bela cannot be listed on Bittrex because of vulnerability to double spend attacks.
We're having a hard fork to update Bela to Litecoin's most recent source code. After this happens, we'll begin aggressively pursuing exchange again, especially since our tech will be just as good as Litecoin's.

We just hired an extra developer, and he begins work today on the Bela hard fork to Litecoin code. The project is estimated to take 600 hours, and he's going to try to get that done in 8 weeks. We'll weekly progress updates on how that's coming. Here's all that has to happen to make that a reality:
1. Pull both the Belacoin and LTC repos 2. Make branding changes to all entire repository to reflect Bela instead of LTC 3a. Nullify all recent soft fork elements to be reintroduced later 3b. Begin modifying core parameters: -Genesis Block -Beginning Diff. -Difficulty Retargeting Algorithms -First bits and magic numbers -P2P Network Config -Versioning -Client Naming -Checkpoints -DNS Seeding 4a. Change the mining reward so a portion goes towards a development fund 4b. Maintain the integrity of the existing Bela network so that users retain the exact value of their wallets before the migration. 5. Modify current LTC protocol for QA to test releases of Bela 6. Create the migration infrastructure (preferably in the form of a web interface) or as a set of command line tools 7. Begin to reincorporate soft fork elements into Bela at set blocks 8. Once tested, build and publish a final release of Bela Qt.

We'd like to remind everyone to please stick to the official Bela mining pool: http://Minebela.com. Fees go back to support Bela's development, and when we make hard forks and other updates, we can not guarantee that the other mining pools will update their Bela wallets, potentially resulting in a loss of funds.

is it a new project or a rebranding?? no plan about bounties?? i'm amaze that this coin is traded on poloniex.
Bela was launched as 'Bellacoin' back in January of 2014. Since the coin is 3 years old and already quite established, there is no ICO or bounties to participate in. We took over development of the project back in November of 2016. Under our development, Bela was rebranded, received new wallet updates, and had a significant blockchain upgrade.

Hi,Pls can i mine Bela using my wallet on an exchange?
You likely can, although it's best to check with your exchange on the rules for that. It's possible that they may have that answered in an FAQ or support section. If you mine at http://minebela.com, payouts are done after a block is found.

Getting settled in after the second and final day of the CESC.io conference. We can't wait to get back to start building upon the connections we built and the new concepts we've learned.

Today's UpdateWe have two Live Bela and The Ambia Fund representatives in Berkeley, California at the CESC conference ( http://CESC.io) hosted at UC Berkeley. They'll be on the ground networking and acquiring new ideas to bring back to the Bela project.

Yes, that's a giveaway being done by a Bela community member, not sponsored by the Bela development team. The community is great!

This looks interesting! When did mining start for this?
Do you know when the closed Beta for the picture sharing part will be open to everyone else? I would really be keen to test it out. I like Instagram a lot so this would be fun for me to participate in as well.
Btw. Lightning Network/transactions, is there anywhere else that you know of that it has been implemented before or is that unique/new for this project?
Cool stuff again!
Bela mining started back in 2014 when it was originally launched as 'Bellacoin.' Belacam is in open beta right now at Belacam.com, but the site is buggy and deposits are closed. Belacam Gamma, the much better (and nearly final) version of the site will be going through a security audit before being opened up to the public, and we're extremely excited for that! The Lightning Network is Litecoin code, and we will be integrating it after our hard fork to update Bela's code to match Litecoin's. Mine at http://Minebela.com

The Ambia Fund took over development and community management in 2016, and we have built wallets, updated Bela's source code, updated the logo and name, and given Bela a real-life use: Belacam. Belacam is a social media site for photo sharing where likes are monetized. With over 3,500 users in the Beta testing and Belacam Gamma in development, the site is poised to be one of the first real social media economies, powered by the Bela blockchain. We've established a new company, Live Bela LLC, to maintain and update Bela's source code with the mission of making Bela the easiest cryptocurrency to use and build upon. Our goal is to make Bela the go-to token when entrepreneurs want to utilize crypto for their startups. If you want to create a project or startup that uses Bela, be sure to get in touch!

Tomorrow, we'll be starting a new Bitcointalk thread for Bela. Bela is no longer named 'Belacoin,' nor is it under the same leadership that it was 2 years ago. We took over Bela almost 1 year ago, and we've since established multiple companies for the benefit of Bela: The Ambia Fund, Belacam, and Live Bela.

We have repeatedly applied Bela for listing on Bittrex, but we can't just 'get it listed.' They decide which coins to list. All that we can do is continue to make great development, and everything else should eventually fall in line. We're leaving tomorrow for the CESC.io conference at UC Berkeley, we're nearing a hard fork that will totally overhaul Bela's source code, and we're in closed testing for Belacam Gamma.

We have applied Bela for listing on Bittrex, but we don't make the decision on which coins Bittrex lists. That's their decision. Although Poloniex was a little turbulent 4 or 5 months ago, the trading platform is now very stable.
