101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: POLL: Which coin should BTC-E add next? on: December 07, 2013, 09:54:59 PM
I'm voting StableCoin because it actually brings something unique to the table. Quarkcoin pragmatically brings nothing new to the table other than some security features, but cryptocurrencies are already really secure so it's more or less a clone coin. And it being mentioned on a T.V. show does not give it any better fundamentals for it to be a currency.

Stablecoin will offer anonymity with mixed transactions, and will have a very steady supply because its difficulty adjusts rapidly, every 90 blocks.

Also, in reference to the recent bitcoin crash, StableCoin has performed incredibly well:

Quote

On Tuesday, December 3rd 2013, the price of Bitcoin was around 1,100 dollars. The price of StableCoin was around 12 - 13 cents.

Today, on Saturday, December 7th 2013, the price of Bitcoin, after ENORMOUS fluctuations and instability, has now settled at around 750-775. About a 30% decrease.

While almost every other altcoin's value has plummeted, what is StableCoin's value at? About 16 cents. This is at least a 25% increase. If this isn't a sign of StableCoin's future and stability, I don't know what is.

So my vote's all for StableCoin.

Vote StableCoin often and early! The higher the rating, the more interest it will garner.

Hi all, I have some important announcements to make, all of it is good news.

1. The StableCoin subreddit now has over 100 subscribers!

2. StableCoin is now ranking in at number 3 for most 2014 growth at this poll: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=359521.0

3. (I believe this is the most important one): On Tuesday, December 3rd 2013, the price of Bitcoin was around 1,100 dollars. The price of StableCoin was around 12 - 13 cents.

Today, on Saturday, December 7th 2013, the price of Bitcoin, after ENORMOUS fluctuations and instability, has now settled at around 750-775. About a 30% decrease.

4. I am currently working on translating the site into Russian with the help of my mother.  Smiley It should be completely translated some time tonight. The Russian site will be important, as the Russian board on here has almost four times the number of posts as the Chinese board has.

How do sites like coinmarketcap generate their values? Is this simple to do?

They draw them from cryptsy, multiply them by the value of bitcoin, etc...

However, for some odd reason, the price o Stablecoin in particular has no updated on coinmarket cap in over 24 hours.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: Which Alt Coin will see the most growth in 2014? on: December 07, 2013, 04:32:49 AM
I believe as far as dollar value goes, that growth will be in this order:

Litecoin
Quarkcoin
StableCoin
Protoshares

However, as far as percentage increase goes:

StableCoin
Securecoin
Quarkcoin
Digitalcoin

A lot of the others just aren't that promising.

Does anybody understand why StableCoin has the absolute highest total volume in USD on crypsty compared to all the other currencies? It has about an 80k trading volume today on there, and I think it has had the highest for a while, and I just don't understand why.

Also, StableCoin's value hasn't updated on coinmarketcap for over a day now. I'm a little confused as to why.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - stablecoin.net on: December 06, 2013, 07:15:47 PM
I'm new around these parts, and I've a few questions if anyone would be willing to indulge me:

- Stablecoin does seem unique with the proposed mixing service - and I've started mining it after a lot of research, but aside from that, is there anything else which substantively differentiates it from other altcoints?

- i am a little confused by the pre-mine destruction conceptually.  I'm willing to believe that the coins are out of circulation, but having a still limited understanding of how this technology works under the covers, why is it FUD when others complain about this?

- I'm having a hard time figuring out what the value prop. is for the coin developer. What does someone like artos stand to gain as the creator of a unique digital currency?

- Let's say artos gets fed up with digital currencies and gets out of the game. What happens to Stablecoin?  It obviously (essentially) died after the initial disappearance, what is the required critical mass where that can't happen again?

Thanks,
TL

Stablecoin has chosen the ideal transaction time: 40 seconds, the best between speed and security. Its other difference, aside from the mixing service, is that its mining difficulty adjusts almost constantly, at a rate of once per 90 blocks, which ensures a very steady and stable coin supply.

In response to the premine:

Hi.

so how exactly was the premine destroyed. if blockexplorer can see them, they are not rmoved from the code. it would be impossible in my mind, because of all the blockchain is hashed using this tx'es . the where also not sent to impossible address like "sTHEPREMINEDESTROYERADDRESS4Ph48Nk2". if I understand ,they are not destroyed, but locked-down right?

Destroyed was chosen because it's a dramatic and exciting word. To be more accurate, the coins were removed from circulation. They can not be spent.

I'm not sure what artos stands to gain. What did the developer of Bitcoin stand to gain? We will never really know.

I'd say the required critical mass to prevent Stablecoin from dying is when the mixing service gets released and is fully functional, which is soon. After that point many more developers will wish to hop on board, and as interest grows thoughout the different communities I can only see this coin going up. It's not a clone coin by any means.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CRITICAL INFO to MINER/INVESTOR of STABLECOIN, 1.25 M premined still spendable!! on: December 06, 2013, 06:57:49 PM
The OP freaking out that the coins are still in the genesis block is doing nothing but trying to spread fear. The developer even said in the release notes that the coins were still there, but that code was taken from the unspendable bitcoin genesis block to make stablecoin genesis similarly unspendable.

You aren't fooling anyone OP. Here's a quote from the developer himself on this manner from a few days ago:

Hi.

so how exactly was the premine destroyed. if blockexplorer can see them, they are not rmoved from the code. it would be impossible in my mind, because of all the blockchain is hashed using this tx'es . the where also not sent to impossible address like "sTHEPREMINEDESTROYERADDRESS4Ph48Nk2". if I understand ,they are not destroyed, but locked-down right?

Hey artos, what do you think of this comment? It was just posted to the StableCoin subreddit and I find myself kind of agreeing, because I was trying to think of nicknames for it the other day.

Quote

It seems a lot of people like the coin but the branding seems off. Developers aren't marketers, understandably, however when we look at successful names and brands they normally have a common theme of two syllable names or shorter (exception Microsoft). Example: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Facebook, Walmart, Costco, Samsung. You get the point...
I get what they are trying to do with the name, but to me it just doesn't roll off the tongue. This could ultimately be a downfall of stablecoin. It's awkward saying "here let me pay for that with my stablecoin", opposed to, here I have some bitcoin for you.
I wish the dev hired a marketer, emulated bitcoins logo by putting the money lines through the "s" changed the name. Sigh. That's my vent, thanks for listening.

This news of China seems potentially disastrous for all cryptocurrencies. Doesn't this effectively close the door on newcomers to the Chinese market, other than through in-person trading?

It made it illegal to deposit Bitcoin directly into the bank. That means they have to use exchanges just like we do.

New logo looks good.

Mining seems really slow. Mined all last night and only got 4 coins Sad. I only have 50 coins at the moment. Did the difficulty just take a super-jump or is it my computer/pool?

Current difficulty I'm seeing is 13. Earlier today it was 11. A few days ago it was only 2.5. It's in high demand.

Here's the final logo.

Just a clean, updated version of the original. Should please everybody. Smiley

Absolutely perfect. The extension of the tips are definitely better than my version.

You have to register an account on Cryptsy, go to balance, click on BTC, select depost BTC, generate a wallet, send your BTC to that wallet, and then click on the SBC/BTC tab and buy Stablecoin with it.

So yes, you can trade bitcoin with it.

What's with the massive sell walls?

Hard to grow in value at all with 30000 being dumped at 0.002 BTC below market value

I have to agree. Someone is cashing out at bad prices. Is there any news from artos yet on what the big upcoming things are? Maybe that news can drive a recovery.

Breaking news guys: China has officially barred banks from Bitcoin transactions.

finance.yahoo.com/news/china-central-bank-warns-banks-080434835.html

How do you think this will affect stablecoin?
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - stablecoin.net on: December 05, 2013, 07:48:14 AM
Artos,

At the risk of being stupidly obvious, I would like to suggest you try to get SBC on one of the Chinese exchanges. I'm based in China, and can't get on to Cryptsy without a VPN (maybe not an issue since I can't get onto BtcChina without a VPN either, but BtcChina is the biggest exchange anyhow), and anyhow Cryptsy might be tricky to navigate for non-English speakers.  Bter might be the easiest since they already have a lot of alt-coins. No idea how to go about doing it other than just contacting an exchange, but I think getting SBC on a Chinese exchange should be top priority.

+1 This. Absolutely agree. We are trying to generate so much Chinese interest but their methods of getting in aren't as easy as it is for us, although I already see many of them are mining it.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - stablecoin.net on: December 05, 2013, 06:16:17 AM
It would perfectly resemble the original id the very top of the "S" and very bottom of the "C" were widened so they touched the diagonal line created by the joining of the two in the middle.

Just to clarify, I think the new one looks really good.

You mean like this?

120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - stablecoin.net on: December 05, 2013, 05:31:26 AM
At this point, we're locked into something that at least resembles the original. The coin's been out for months.

Thoughts?
