SO... About Doubloons. What happened to the Tx Fee? It's gone FUBAR. Anything I try to send over 0.1 get's a crazy fee requested. For example, a 1DBL Tx I was trying to send asked for a 0.8DBL fee.

 Huh

I noticed that as well a few days ago, it also seems to completely fail on transactions >300DBL. I assume it has to do with the difficulty retargeting, if so it should be remedied shortly when we hit the next retarget.

This has been a recurring problem with doubloons due to the size of the retarget window and pure profit seeking miners. The only way to really fix this would be to change the retarget window but that's not so simple to do in an active coin.

Woops, the .unix extension is what I have been using lol.

Here is a copy of the terminal if anyone is able to check it out textuploader.com/1syy, perhaps I can find some videos on YouTube. Sorry for bumping this thread with my issues its just very frustrating getting stuck at this point.

You don't appear to be in the src directory of any coin, you need to cd into that directory before you can make it. if you type 'll' you should get a list of all directories in your home and one will probably stick out as the coin, you'll need to 'cd coinname/src' before running the make command.

If it's not there you've probably messed something up pretty bad and should try again from the beginning.

al la cents.
I agree with this solution: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=269145.msg3840720#msg3840720

Would recommend that you ask Cryptsy to halt trading on CENTS until you can figure out a solution. At over 3 trillion coins atm it has the potential to fleece newcomers to crypto.

Another idea would be to create a buyout fund where the coins are bought at 0.00000001 and destroyed. Might be good to fix POS first.

Last option would be to let it die.

Full Disclosure: I hold cents and have made a good profit on them due to the crazy POS

I'll be looking at the issues with pennies in more detail over the coming days, I have a lot to sort through right now and I'm not completely aware of all the details regarding it's problems yet.

**I'll also note that pennies was never really meant to be taken as a serious currency (neither were doubloons and geocoin) and was never even officially announced on BTCT, so whatever problems it has are not exactly a high priority issue.

Just to be clear, "owenprescott/src% " isn't part of the command.

If you already knew that, then you need to make sure you have 'make' installed, i'm pretty sure it's part of 'build-essentials' on most distributions.

Oh that makes sense, I already installed the build essentials back when I installed Linux (Ubuntu) and it seems to be installed after performing a "checkinstall". I just tried this code:
Code:
make -f makefile.osx USE_UPNP=-
(all on one CMD line)

It returns, "*** No rule to make target 'markefile.unix'. Stop.". Oh well, I will figure it out eventually.  Cheesy

also, if you're using ubuntu that should be makefile.unix, not .osx.

shakezula, developer of Geocoin, Doubloons, and Pennies, Foocoin and it's accompanying Cryptocoin Creation Guide, and a great deal many other currencies through his Cryptocoin Creation Service, is taking a break from cryptocoin development. As I understand it he's joined a submarine pirate crew with their endeavour to evolve into space pirates. (Space, as you may know, has no economy, or internet.)

Henceforth, I have taken over the maintenance and development of these projects and will be hosting them all at https://github.com/RazorLove

(Confirmation available on shakezula's website and this post.)

I know the chain is diff locked but the client won't say "synced".  Is this just because it expects something closer to target block time, or does anyone have any idea how that works?

If you go to Help -> Debug Window you'll see a line about "Current Number of Blocks". If the value next to that is >9323 then you're probably synced up. When blockchains get stalled or are otherwise not functioning quite as intended the client will often not be able to tell whether it's properly synced or not.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRC] Craftcoin - Portable Minecraft Game Currency w. Economy Plugin on: July 28, 2013, 09:57:27 PM
IMPORTANT!

The chain is stalled, the difficulty is stuck but Craftcoin is not dead!

Blindfolded has been busy the last while with personal things, I have been working with another dev to fix the diff algorithm and therefore fix the chain.

Please be patient! We're working as fast as we can but we all have real life issues to deal with as well!
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: STAR COIN [STR] - The coin with bonus STAR blocks on: July 21, 2013, 03:44:33 AM
Why do most of the coins lately all seem to have the same border on their logo? That cheap, plastic, novelty poker chip style with the stars in it. Where are they all getting this stock image from and why? It's terrible.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] Mining Efficiently or just plain old being stupid? on: July 20, 2013, 01:05:38 AM
It won't work.
Yes, it does. I have no idea why you would think it wouldn't.

The process is simple:

  • Create a wallet on one computer with 100 or so pre-generated addresses.
  • Copy the wallet.dat (hell, copy the whole primecoin appdata folder) into the appropriate location on another system.
  • Run primecoin and mine stuff.
  • Watch all your new block show up on every client using the same wallet.dat, up until the amount of pre-generated addresses you had.

It's unlikely that you'll ever surpass 100 or so blocks so you'll probably never end up generating more.

Out of curiosity, does the mining client go through the list of addresses sequentially?  In other words, if I did choose to use a common wallet with 100 reserve addresses, would I be "safe" until one of my rigs found its 101st block?

Basically, yes. Assuming something catastrophic doesn't happen first.

Do I have to buy minecraft in order to play on the craftcoin minecraft server? Would like to try it out but only seem to be able to connect to the minecraft demo server.

Yes, sorry. Running a crack friendly server would not be the best way to make friendly with Mojang. It would also prevent us from banning trolls and griefers.

120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [GEO] GeoCoin giveaway! on: July 16, 2013, 03:28:37 PM
Cool. Got em.. thank you!

Where's that mining interface in the qt client from? Is that from Litecoin (don't have that one...)

Introduced in Litecoin, yeah, it's a simple CPU miner. Most scrypt based coins have it, beyond initial release it's not usually any good though, being constrained to CPU only that it is.
