101  Economy / Lending / Re: Offering short term loans for (round-up) interest on: May 11, 2012, 11:11:49 PM
Borrowing 2BTC, paying back 3BTC by May 31st or May 18th by Amazon Payments. Choice is mrkent's.
102  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Human vs human chess matches. BTC wagers. Looking for beta testers. on: May 11, 2012, 09:17:56 PM
Sorry if it's already been answered in this thread, but is there any chance you'll be allowing spectator bets? I'm awful at chess, but I'd love to bet on it.
103  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: brace yourself... difficulty is about to increase, a lot on: May 11, 2012, 09:14:49 PM
I stand corrected regarding the term. Having hundreds thousands of infected machines is reasonable to anyone?

Very reasonable. You can buy them.
104  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: PHP Request (smallish bounty!) on: May 08, 2012, 04:55:38 PM
Hi mate, I'm done.

http://throughads.com/2weiX.php

25 minutes.

Hehe, this is what I did but not quite what he wants. Smiley

He wants addresses to be hardcoded (probably in an array) on the backend, I believe. Smiley
105  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: PHP Request (smallish bounty!) on: May 08, 2012, 12:55:46 PM
Probably should have posted this in the Marketplace. Tongue

Either way, I've sent you a PM. Smiley
106  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Kickstart the Bitcoin Kickstarter! on: May 08, 2012, 03:29:35 AM
ah ok, just saying the project is almost complete, but yeah competition is good

I'll be excited to see how it turns out. Smiley

And the same to you.

107  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Kickstart the Bitcoin Kickstarter! on: May 08, 2012, 03:19:59 AM
yes, he is still working on the site, you can pm him he will answer your questions

Haha, at the very least he may want to update the GLBSE page as it hasn't been updated in ages.

As I see little information for this project around, and I think it's good to make sure there's no monopolies, I plan to carry on with my project. Smiley

Yes, I saw when he was last active, but I went through his posts and the most recent one relating to BitcoinKickstarter was from Feb. 20, if I'm not mistaken. Do you have more recent news from him?

Thanks again,
John
109  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Kickstart the Bitcoin Kickstarter! on: May 08, 2012, 02:59:12 AM

Didn't find this when I originally Googled around. Looks like the last post by bitstarter regarding BitcoinStarter was from February 20th, as far as I can tell? Anyone heard anything else from him?
110  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoinfeedback.com - How can I make it better? on: May 08, 2012, 02:23:06 AM
Went to check it out for the first time in ages... why can't I change my website URL? Tongue
111  Bitcoin / Project Development / Kickstart the Bitcoin Kickstarter! on: May 08, 2012, 02:06:29 AM
Hello everyone,

I've come back from an almost year-long hiatus from Bitcoin, and I'm excited to be back. Upon checking out all the new projects, there was something I realized was missing: Kickstarter. If you've ever seen Kickstarter or Indiegogo, you'll know that they are awesome community-funded efforts to start new, innovative, and creative projects. I'd like to bring that kind of community to Bitcoin.

I've begun working on a design mockup, and hope to get a server setup shortly (thanks to a kind rg from BitVPS sponsoring me for the first month or two.) However, this can't cover everything!

Real graphics need to be created, I will need to pay for the VPS as soon as I can, and I also need to meet my own personal needs.

If you think this project is a good idea, and you support it, and believe you might use it, please donate just one (1) Bitcoin to the fund. This will go to helping create code, graphics, and serve the website.

To donate anonymously, use this address: 1Lauokt6UDNmHLC4RgoSS4Uc7sc6YYjQRn. If you would like to have your name listed as a founding supporter on the website, PM me for a private address so I can verify you sent the donation.

Thank you,
John Maguire
112  Economy / Services / Re: Selling Assembled PirateBoxes at Cost + 3 BTC on: May 06, 2012, 11:24:48 PM
Some marketing/selling tip: you can make this easier to buy, if you do all the work you can for the customer. Maybe assemble couple a different piratebox setups (for example, a cheap one with very basic router and little storage, and more expensive one with more storage).

Then list the products on bitmit.net and do a little bit of advertising by spamming the link around net. You will have soon the money for the laptop Wink

I agree, but as I've said already, I don't even have initial investment money currently. Sad

Also, I'm looking hard for a router for you rjk, but it's difficult to find one with your specifications. I'll keep looking around. Smiley
113  Economy / Services / Re: Selling Assembled PirateBoxes at Cost + 3 BTC on: May 05, 2012, 02:27:40 AM
OK, get me a price on the fastest and most capable pocket sized router. It needs to have at least one Ethernet port and one USB port, and wireless is a plus but not a requirement.

Also, for anyone that wants a laptop, I have a used one of these available: http://www.eurocom.com/products/showroom/specselectnew.cfm?model_id=202
12GB RAM, i7-980X, X58 chipset, nVidia GTX 280M, 17 inch 1920x1200 matte display, number pad, 3 megapixel webcam, 2x 220 watt power supplies, jet-engine fans, etc. The battery lasts 5 minutes, or 10 tops with all the power saving modes enabled. They actually refer to the battery as a UPS system, since that is essentially what it is - it is supposed to keep the thing on when it gets unplugged by accident. Grin $3200 OBO

Holy crap, that machine is beautiful.

It's about time for me to head to sleep tonight, but I will research routers first thing tomorrow morning and send you a PM with what I find.

Can we pay you obtain the router too? I might like to get one, but I don't feel like shopping around for the right router. Whatever you get, make sure it is very portable and has tons of flash + cpu etc.

I would be willing to find the best router for you, provided I know what your budget is. Give me a budget, I'll search around, probably offer you a couple different routers I found, and leave it up to you to make the choice. However, I currently don't have the cash to front the purchase for one, so you'd have to send payment for the router before I can send you the PirateBox.

Let me know! Smiley

You stolted my business brah!

This is weird how similar we are though...

I'm 16 years old, and got into Bitcoin when I was 15 years old. Granted I've been programming, doing server administration, and the likes for years and years, but I was able to understand the technical aspect of it.

I'm saving money for a new laptop...

Both the same haha.

Ah well, you beat me to posting, so its yours.

Good luck!

Hehe, well, greetings fellow teenager-in-need of laptop. Smiley And thanks. Anyone who wants this can get it from this guy too. Smiley
115  Economy / Services / Selling Assembled PirateBoxes at Cost + 3 BTC on: May 05, 2012, 12:57:52 AM
Inspired by this post, I feel like PirateBoxes are probably right up this community's ally.

If you don't know what a PirateBox is, here is a description from PirateBox themselves: "PirateBox is a self-contained mobile communication and file sharing device. Inspired by pirate radio and the free culture movement, PirateBox utilizes Free, Libre and Open Source software (FLOSS) to create mobile wireless file sharing networks where users can anonymously chat and share images, video, audio, documents, and other digital content. "

You can make your own via any of these guides. I am here only to try to make this process more convenient for you.

I'm saving money for a new laptop as I'm currently stuck on a Pentium 3 with one USB 1.0 port, can barely watch Netflix (frequently can't), and can't do much of anything. Any proceeds from this are going pretty much directly into helping me buy a new laptop so I can do more Cool Stuff again.

Basically, as was done in that post, you buy the parts (preferably TP-Link MR3020 or TP-Link TL-WR703N for the router, if you buy another one, I can't guarantee it'll be supported by OpenWrt, so make sure before you choose one): the router that is supported by OpenWrt and a USB drive (will dictate how much storage is on your PirateBox.)

You should have these shipped directly to me for the most cost-effective method. I will send you my address via PM. Please don't be a new or sketchy user on this forum, or I will not be comfortable giving you my address.

Once this has been completed, I will ship you the configured PirateBox (you will pay for this too. Unsure of how much shipping costs as it probably will vary by location. Please keep this in mind.)

Upon receiving your brand new PirateBox and ensuring it works, you will send me 3 BTC.

Please have some sort of reputation or a Bitcoin-OTC account so I know you aren't going to scam me.
116  Economy / Services / Re: [ PAYING 33-53 BTC ] Create a Graphical Introduction to Bitcoin Thread on: May 05, 2012, 12:42:54 AM
I'm 16 years old, and got into Bitcoin when I was 15 years old. Granted I've been programming, doing server administration, and the likes for years and years, but I was able to understand the technical aspect of it.

That said, it isn't necessary to understand the technical side of it, and is in fact a turn-off to a lot of people. It makes Bitcoin seem "geeky" and only for tech guys. If the person is really interested in the technical side of it, they can learn that after the fact.

Just introduce them to Bitcoin, I say. But then, this isn't my bounty.
117  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Battlefield 3 CD Key on: October 26, 2011, 12:20:04 AM
I won a Battlefield 3 CD key in a contest, but since I don't game, it's worthless to me. I'd like to sell it for 19 BTC. I have a good reputation in #bitcoin-otc (assuming that's still around?), though I recently lost my key (again). I'm willing to send first if you have a good reputation.

Or you can buy it for two $20 Domino's gift cards, as I'm going to be hunting gift cards with the BTC I receive. Smiley
