Ja. To-date stats say I've earned BTC100.85342753 here Cheesy A very tidy sum right now if most had not been spent on constant upgrade/expansion of the farm to my current >250THs.

Nonetheless since I've stopped growing the past few months...

LOL, right! If I had more electrical I'd probably grow a bit more myself but it'll require a major electrical upgrade to get more power in my house or even a shed with it's own dedicated power and cooling. I have been thinking of doing that as well.

Yeah the only catch here is variance.
It's not terribly bad, but of course a lot more variance than the larger pools.

I'm still yet to understand why the 2 top miners left though.
THeir issue was given as variance, but that's a bit of a lame excuse since the average has been over 100% for a while.
Yeah it went under 100% short term but long term it's still over 100%

I guess they can't handle getting well over 100% PPS some months (162%, 138%, 133%) but only 78% PPS some other times Tongue
... it's called planning ahead Smiley

Edit: FYI 100% PPS over 77.94% is of course only 128.30%

I don't get it either. Unless some other issue that came up but still, some folks only look at the immediate, not the long term. I hated to see Cobra pull most of their stuff out, but other than that I am pretty happy with the pool. Sure even I get a tad bit frustrated on longer runs, but then we get a reward and I get almost 400 bucks with my measly 51TH (now 58) and I am happy.

Seven more blocks and I can pay off a credit card, woot! And BTC is almost 12k; its good to be a miner. Wish I had gotten into BTC a long time ago, but I was working for EA at the time having a blast and it just wasn't a priority (kick myself in the ass).

Thanks, Kano, for keeping it real!

If I were you I'd start fresh by flashing the micro SD card with the avalon miner software for your raspberry pi controller, then follow the instructions.(https://canaan.io/question/how-do-i-connect-an-avalonminer-721-and-avalonminer-controller-including-raspberry-pi-1-2-and-3/)

edit: not sure what you mean about connecting it to the "other port" on your pc. As a first step to initially configure the controller, you'll connect your PC to the controller with an ethernet cable. You manually change your pc's IP to 192.168.0.102/24 with a gateway of 192.168.0.1 (obviously). You then open your browser to http://192.168.0.100 From there you configure your LAN settings for your actual IP addressing scheme. Then you remove the direct ethernet connection, and plug the avalon controller's ethernet cable in to your router. Then from your computer, you'll navigate your browser to its new IP address that you set for instance 192.168.1.5 or whatever your situation entails.

I set the other NIC on my PC to the same Ip schema the default pie comes on. So I set it to 192.168.0.99 and plugged a cable into it and the pie to access the Avalon's API. Then the unit wasn't saving anything. Or it would save the IP address, but if I power cycled it, it would lose that IP. So i did just take another SD card and flashed it with the latest firmware and it worked.

Not sure I was happy getting a unit that didn't work right out the box. Was it even QC'd? Oh well, it seems to be working now so let's hope that continues! Get's me up to a massive 57TH Smiley

The Image on the SD card was bad. Looks like it was incomplete. I took another SD card and imaged it with the newest controller firmware and it looks like it is working now. Not sure that is a good sign for a new unit.
Cool. At least it wasn't a return of the unflashed AUC converter issue.

Yeah, I was beginning to think it was something but I figured I'd flash one of my SD cards and give it a go.

I got a new Avalon 741 and I cannot get it working. The interface is not saving changes. I cannot even save the password. When I enter it I cannot save any changes, as soon as I cycle the Raspberry Pi it resets to default. Would really like to get this up and running. It is not even detecting the mining hardware. I see nothing under Advanced Setup, no CGMiner stuff, nothing.

Little frustrated Sad

This is all I get when I hit Advanced Setup

So this company might make nicer hardware, but their instructions and setup are sub-par at best.

I just got my first 741 and controller (apparently a Raspberry Pie). Trying to get it up and running but so far no luck. Did some digging around this forum but my setup is not looking like the ones posted. The Raspberry pie didn't come with a power module so I used one from another Pie I had, which powers the unit. I am able to login to the 192.168.0.100 site, which apparently has no password, but that is it. From there it looks nothing like screenshots I have seen posted on the help forum.

I am beginning to think cgminer is not installed for this unit, but I can't be sure as I have never seen a working unit.

When I hit Advanced Version I see nothing but system statistics.

Here is the Dashboard:

Appreciate the help. Little frustrated this is so, undocumented, brand new.

Anyone an expert on setting up the Avalon 741? I got mine today. I plugged it into the other port on my PC and am able to hit the IP of 192.168.0.100 but I can't get it to save any settings, there is no password I can find to login with and when I try and change the password it fails. I went to the site and tried the setup video and it is not found on their site.

Be nice to get it up and working but it doesn't seem to want to retain any of the settings.

I also set the IP as a static and was able to hit it on my network, but as soon as I unplugged the Pie to see if I could get it to see the actual miner, everything went back to defaults.

Did some reading of the Avalon forum and it all said to view the video.

Thanks guys!

I know, it mind boggling how high it's gotten since the old days! Shocked

I sold 1 coin last night just so I could say I exchanged 1 BTC for $10,000 USD...you don't get to say that everyday. Cheesy

Very Cool!!

Interesting to see/watch where it goes from here...

Apparently down lol.

New Canaan Avalon 741 heading my way from MinerWarez, should be here on 12/2 per fedex notice.
2 new power supplies arriving from the great underground empire sometime in the next week or so.
another 7.5 T HASH heading kano pool way soon.

bitcoin over $10k, wow, who would of thunk it?

Thanks for the block Canaan!

Just wish they'd come a little faster, but I am not really complaining Smiley This one was a nice large one, not a 16 but still pretty good.

I am glad I mine a little Ethereum on the side. Managed to get 30 ounces of Silver with my measly 250Mhz of Ethereum mining that just chugs along!

That's my new plan since I found a website that you can purchase Silver/Gold/Platinum/Palladium with most popular digital currencies. BTC, ETH, LTC etcetera. When I get enough and they are high, buy physical metals!

You're mining on kano, and you don't know what canaan is...no worries.

Canaan Creative is the Avalon miner mfr. They run on this pool partly because Kano wrote the book on their miners; what you see is their farm, and/or (I assume in this instance) their new product burn-in batches.

That's all. Nothing to see here...  Cool

Ha that's awesome. be nice if they'd ship my miner out that said it was shipped but never has Smiley

Common Block!

I am considering purchasing some silver! Move my BTC over to IRA eligible Silver so don't have to worry about taxes! At least I think it should work that way.
