101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lessons from crypto in 2018 on: July 14, 2019, 10:55:28 AM
It thought me that not all projects are legitimate, no matter how good it was presented and how concise the whitepaper is constructed. We should be careful in picking out projects that we want to invest in, especially when you're thinking of putting a large amount of your asset into a single project. 2018 is a rough year for cryptocurrencies but we should always look on the bright side and learn from our mistakes. I am a bounty hunter and i have heard stories from my friends who failed to receive any coins whatsoever because of scam projects.
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MORE THAN $32 MILLION LOST TO CRYPTOCURRENCY SCAM on: July 14, 2019, 05:46:53 AM
That's why I have invested in any projects back in 2018. The news have spread that the majority of the projects back then were illegitimate which is really risky for those who want to invest on projects that "seem" to have a high potential. You see, anyone can launch a project which gives the "developers" an opportunity to trick people into putting all of the investors' funds into their project. That's why IEO is a great way to lessen the number of scam projects. It doesnt guarantee a 100% chance that the project wouldnt turn out to be a scam but atleast it is more assuring on our part if we see that the project is administrated by an exchange.
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Uganda says cryptocurrency is risky on: July 14, 2019, 03:00:55 AM
Yes, cryptocurrency is risky but it has a lot of potential. It can be used as an alternative to fiat, but since cyptocurrencies are not regulated by the government, transactions can be used in malicious payments and transactions. Cryptocurrency gives the public the chance to govern their own assets without the need for banks and seemingly slow transactions that heed paperworks and other legitimate requirements. I think this is the reason why uganda hasnt adopted cryptocurrency.
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency are gonna disappear on: July 14, 2019, 02:54:19 AM
Isnt bitcoin a cryptocurrency? Whereas blockchain is used as a platform to record transactions called blocks, that are linked using cryptography? Bitcoin runs on that kind of platform which enables everyone to send and make transactions while being anonymous. I dont think bitcoin will dissapear, the article lacked proof as to why it was said that cryptocurrencies will go to nothing whereas blockchain will survive. In my opinion, the blockchain exists because of bitcoin. Those two are interconnected with one another.
105  Economy / Economics / Re: finding investors on: July 13, 2019, 02:15:09 PM
There are many bitcoin investors in this forum and they do usually invest in online projects. You just have to find a way to catch their attention. Giving a thorough detail of your business is a must, it should be concise and beneficial to the public. Attracting investors is tricky because it all depends on the convept of your business and how you will promote and introduce it to the public. Bitcoin investors often invest in businesses that have a huge potential which in turn can give them huge gains.
106  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin Beat Banks? on: July 11, 2019, 08:25:23 AM
I dont think bitcoin would defeat banks that easily. Moreover, they exist in two different worlds. They also have different functions and benefits that are relevant to the platform that they run onto. Bitcoin is decentralized and circulates around the net. We solely are the ones who control that kind of currency, whilst banks do the complete opposite. They regulate fiat money and govern whatever happens to it. It is true that bitcoin has gained popularity ever since it was launched, and it has proven to be successful all throughout the years. But people still rely on banks.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Manipulation of cryptocurrency exchanges. on: July 09, 2019, 02:22:49 AM
I havent noticed such a thing, though some of the members of this forum have in the past recent years. To further understand the topic, I read an article related to the manipulation of cryptocurrency exchanges when it comes to a coin's price. It says that exchanges are in it for the consistently declining volume. This leads to lower total fee revenue for exchanges, and an incentive to manipulate the price in order to earn revenue through liquidations rather than trading fees. Another one is the exponential Increase in leveraged positions. Both leveraged shorts and leveraged longs are at or near record levels. Shorts especially have gone from 8K outstanding in January to 33K right now, a whole tripling in outstanding positions.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hardcap ICO is no guarantee that the project will succeed on: July 06, 2019, 04:04:53 AM
Yes, It solely depends on the developers whether or not the project will succeed. Reaching hardcap is not the only factor that determines a successful project, because there are some projects who do not focus on the development of the promised technology. Some projects stop there which will result to a rather faulty technology. Though based on my experience, those that i have participated in have mostly become successful, whther or not they have reached hardcap. Take Lympo as an example, as well as adbank.
109  Economy / Economics / Re: What’s the SINGLE most valuable benefit for you in Bitcoin and why? on: July 06, 2019, 01:26:50 AM
The ability to sought and buy anything from across the globe with the use of bitcoin is definitely valuable in my part. There are instances where Small online sellers and retailers don’t often sell their services or products internationally because of the high cross-border transaction fees. Bitcoins, being global, relives this pressure once and for all, thereby making payments cheaper, safer, easier, and faster. In the past recent years we can say that bitcoin has significantly improved commerce which brings out advantages that benefit both the buyer and the seller.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Some Risks Of Long-Term Hodling Alts on: July 05, 2019, 05:12:21 AM
I have read an article about traders who hold altcoins. A recent poll on twitter shows that 47% of traders predominantly hold altcoins more than bitcoin, since in this current period, 2019’s altcoin season is seemingly flourishing. Though it’s not surprising that people are allocating more of their resources to trade altcoins. They have the tendency to skyrocket in price (risk-reward ratio), hence bringing huge returns to those investing in them, especially during the presence of an altcoin season. Though despite of this the risks are still huge just like what you (OP) stated.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IEO is popular, what do you think? Will you participate? on: July 04, 2019, 11:46:41 AM
In projects such as ICO and IEO, you just have to take chances. Atleast IEO reduces the number of scam projects since it is administered by an exchange. However, some illegitimate projects may still find their way through IEO, which will significantly affect not only its investors, but as well as the exchange. The exchange which administers the scam project will put its reputation at risk that's why they are careful enough not to encounter any shady projects. So yes, i will participate in IEOs more than ICOs
112  Economy / Economics / Re: The Central Bank of Facebook on: July 04, 2019, 01:00:20 AM
I'm not that familiar with Libra and how it would be operated so i really find this topic helpful. I'm rather curious as to what kind of businesses will compose of the facebook consortium that you speak of. I know that there are some who will test out libra when it is officially released, but really it is not that different from fiat money, the only thing that distinguishes both of them from one another is how it would circulate. It is true that librs is not a cryptocurrency but rather a digital currency that will be administrated by facebook. There are a number of benefits when it comes to using libra as it would be regulated and governed by a single entity, transactions will be fast and simple.
113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Netflix is gonna film documentary about crypto on: July 03, 2019, 12:33:40 PM
A great opportunity for those who want to get involved with bitcoin. It would be educating on their part by introducing what cryptocurrency is all about. Those who thought that bitcoin is used for malicious acts will be enlightened once netflix releases a documentary about bitcoin and its benefits to the market. Though most of the viewers on netflix are teenagers so the outcome really depends on how they will perceive such a currency. Maybe they would invest, or just take it as a joke.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 6 Reasons why IEO is better than ICO on: July 03, 2019, 05:01:04 AM
Both are beneficial, but let's just face it that IEO is much more secure and reliable. Basically, anyone can launch an ICO, as long as you have a whitepaper to convince the potential investors to put funds into your project. Whereas IEO requires the project team to meet and comply with the exchange’s requirements in order to launch the token sale. Contributors are, therefore, protected by the exchange. This decreases the number of scam projects and raises the probability of legitimate projects to introduce their promised technology to the public.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why blame people for your failure? on: July 03, 2019, 12:30:33 AM
It isnt the bounty hunters' fault, the developers of the project are usually to blame for such an outcome. I commend you for noticing that every project posted here in this forum does not give out a token allocation percentage that exceeds 5%, that's just a small portion of the total token sold which are distributed to the bounty hunters. The remaining 95% goes to the project which are governed by the developers. Dumping is often associated with those who are in control of the project. There are instances where they raise the value of the token sold, garnering consumers who thought that the coin would eventually increase overtime, and then dumping the price at the last minute, which leaves investors with nothing at all.
116  Economy / Economics / Re: How Will FB Coin/JPM Coin Impact the Cryptocurrency Ecosystem? on: July 02, 2019, 03:07:45 AM
From the information given, Libra hasnt been officially released, and when it does, it will be a digital currency that can be used for purchases and trades on Facebook, WhatsApp, and other Facebook properties. On the other hand, JPM coin is based on blockchain-based technology enabling the instantaneous transfer of payments between institutional clients which will be introduced to the public by the end of 2019. What makes these two coins different from bitcoin is that it isnt decentralized as it will be governed by a single entity though because of its strong potential, it may cause an impact to the cryptocurrency ecosystem, as all coins that run on blockchain technology are interconnected.
117  Economy / Economics / Re: Please, we should not totally eliminate fiat currency on: June 30, 2019, 06:16:21 AM
Cryptocurrency replacing fiat money is far from happening. Not even half of the population knows what it is, plus they arent aware of the process of transaction that is necessary to avail crypto in their daily lives. Before trascending in this so called era where bitcoin has officially dethroned fiat, every known country should be technologically advanced and that its citizens should all be knowledgable of how to navigate through the net. Let's just accept the fact that we're not that ready to replace fiat but i do believe that there will be a time for that to happen.. maybe a couple of decades.
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My $36,000 Invesment Turned Out Now $12,000 - Still Holding on: June 30, 2019, 03:42:00 AM
Most of my holdings are in ETH, and the remaining 5% goes to Bitcoin. Sometimes i do regret not investing in bitcoin, especially when i heard the recent news of it exceeding to 12,000 dollars. I was waiting for ETH to go beyond 1000 dollars, just like what happened back then. Well, just like most of us, the only thing we can do is to have patience and faith in the currencies that we hold. Next time, it would be helpful if you do some research before you invest on a certain coin, read the market as well as the recent news involving cryptocurrency, it will raise your chances of having a profitable investment.
119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I went to a bitcoin meetup Many people there had bitcoin, no-one actually use it on: June 29, 2019, 01:30:13 PM
People who are involved in bitcoin usually hold all of their savings till the next price hike. When the value of bitcoin begins to skyrocket, people tend to hold back and ask for "more". they arent that satisfied with the current value and so that is why the portfolio is left untouched. Since bitcoin's value is ever-changing, People often wait for the price to go beyond of what is expected. It would be a shame if they use their bitcoins prior to the increase in value, that's why they are being cautious as to when they will use it.
120  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 60%, alts lagging behind on: June 29, 2019, 10:52:37 AM
I checked the article on bitcoinist, and just like what you have said, bitcoin dominance has risen above 60%. This is largely due to the bitcoin rally and the fact that we are waiting for altseason to begin. The recent statistics reminded me of the time when bitcoin had this proportion of total market cap back in December 2017, when it skyrocketed to 66.8% and then dropping to as low as 32% just a month later. This just goes to show that bitcoin's flactuating price is a never ending cycle, it will always rise and fall, which is kind of similar to altcoins. It's true that altcoins are lagging behind, but i believe that there will be a time that it will increase in value especially ETH.
