The Champions League is a league full of challenges for all teams including Liverpool this season. Currently Liverpool is ranked sixth in the Premier League standings and Newcastle is ranked third in the standings with 15 matches that have been played by Newcastle. The point gap between the two teams is also quite far, namely 8 points, so this makes it a little difficult for Liverpool to catch up with Newcastle, who are not far from fourth place at the moment.
Newcastle this season is present as a new challenger in the top 4 of the Premier League standings. Many people cannot believe what they have achieved at the moment because Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United or some other teams are in the top 4 more often than not as title contenders.

To be honest, Newcastle this season has been very good, but I would not be very sure they will be able to maintain their form when it comes to meeting a top team. Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal or Manchester City are still very likely to be Newcastle's toughest test even if some of the teams above are not performing well.

Well its a tough race for Newcastle still but at least now they are giving them hard time to big-6 on the table. They have become a strong team and have performed consistently. Maybe in couple of years they will win the title - bit doubtful but they are on road to become a strong club if they go like this. It's a good development for them and honestly I didn't thought with the change of ownership things will take such a steep turn and quickly too for them. They last won PL title in 1926-27 season so that's almost like a century. (Upon checking this fact, now I am kinda rooting for Newcastle  Cheesy)

For Bayern Munich i have no doubts that they will be not struggling after the break and the World Cup for sure.
PSG and Munich has so much national players from everywhere and both have enough players that can play after the break.

If the injuries gets to some of the crucial members then I think things might become a bit hard for Munich. We saw how Bayern struggle couple of months ago and we will be watching them going on with same struggle after the conclusion of World Cup then. PSG on other hand a very big squad compared to Bayern so I think they will be able to handle it but Munich might struggle as they lack options in certain positions but I don't know about adaptability of certain players so maybe they will be able to adjust accordingly. Nagelsmann is a smart manager and I think he will do well if situations like this happens after World Cup.

Rumors about Ronaldo are still confusing, some media reported if Ronaldo is likely go to Australia. Some of the news is Roma and PSG want to sign him in January. If there are offers from European teams that can give him a trophy, I think he will prefer to play in Europe than in Asia. I'm sure, Ronaldo is no longer focused on wealth and money (IMO), but he just wants to have a good story at the end of his career which may end in the next 2-3 seasons.

Ronaldo has a statistical race with Messi. He still has things to do. If he goes to a team outside of Europe, he'll have given up. That's why I don't think he will play for a club outside of Europe. On the other hand, Manchester United could not give him what he wanted. That's why he couldn't be happy at Manchester United. But the problem is that his Juventus and 2nd Manchester United adventures have negative marks. Therefore, he may face the same problems if he transfers to Roma or PSG now. Ronaldo is now a risky transfer. That's why big clubs are hesitant to sign him.

Well its tough to say. If there aren't any interest in him then likely he will have to go to a team outside of Europe if that is the only kind of offers he is receiving in the next transfer window. He feels coach and players kind of disrespected him and that is why he pulled out this interview card. Yeah lot of big clubs will be hesitant now and will be aware of his attitude but I think something good will come up at the end. Right now things doesn't looks good at all for Ronaldo. He has this WC ahead now and a very good chance to prove himself right that problem was United and not him.

The difference of 8 points is not a big deal, as long as Liverpool can improve their performance, moreover, they have one game less than Newcastle. But, if Newcastle can also remain consistent, then the difference of 8 points will be difficult to catch.

The Premier League still has a long way to go, so I think there will be several teams whose performance will experience ups and downs. In addition, with the tight schedule and physical fatigue (especially after mid-season and toward the end of the season), the potential for injury will be even greater and this of course will affect the performance of the team.

Things are not out of hand for Liverpool. They can get into top 4 still but could prove to be difficult if Newcastle also remains consistent like you said. However they have good chance to takeover Spurs position as they haven't been consistent lately. Also after the WC, they will have players return from injury for the PL games.

I agree with @abhiseshakana, WC also might affect lot of players with fitness. It is a tight schedule and can affect lot of teams for sure. The ones with good density in positions within the team will be able to survive though. For example like City, Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle. What matters is how much quality they have in as backup options.

Simeone is a great coach and i don't think that the problem problem of atleteco is in the coach, but the team need to find new players asap because the squad is really need fresh blood, simeone is one of the best coaches in the last 10 years in my opinion and i don't imagine atleteco without him

I disagree with this point haha; I think Simeone is the main problem of the Atletico side; the clubside has signed countless of top attackers and none of them is able to perform under Simeone as manager. his model of football is outdated and he needs to change his approach or be changed if Atletico Madrid wants to challenge again
Simeone tactics aren't that bad, they were useful in the past but keeping the same style the whole time will end up by forcing the others to know it and counter it.
I think that Simeone should update his methods, rather than to be switched, if he wants to keep competing and ATM risks to not find a better coach for the moment

Simeone is the longest serving coach in LaLiga - No doubt he is a good manager. People complain because he uses a defensive approach but that's usually differs from clubs to clubs. Well Simeone has his own style of playing things with a rock solid defense and a decent attack to surprise in counters. Now this has already worked wonders for example the Knockout CL game against Liverpool where they send Klopp complaining about it but that is also part of football. Yeah maybe this season they need to sharpen their attack but I never would call Simeone a problem or his methods outdated. Sometime it may not work but at times it can send heavyweights flying for sure.

Ronaldo has put himself in problem.  The interview of Ronaldo might affect him and run is career down. I think Ronaldo went too far to say things that is not necessarily  for anyone to hear. It is very bad to expose the home you belong no matter how bad it is.
Do you think that CR7 wasn't aware about the consequences of his speech? I believe that all what he said was planned to be exposed in order to piss ManU as much as possible and whether he leaves the club or force Ten Hag to say goodbye. Obviously CR7 is no longer a key player and ManU doesn't care much about him anymore. So the deal here is clear: coach > one player.

I think he was kind of fed up of situation inside the club. It isn't just ten Hag, its everybody he dragged in that interview except few players. Yeah kinda knows about consequences but feels that it is better to move out of the club also. I also kinda agree things need to change at United. Definitely not the way it was used to when Ferguson was there.

As of now it is pretty clear that Ronaldo playing for United seems highly unlikely. Yeah there will be lot of interest on him still but doubt that it will be something that will give the story or the satisfy him with achievements playing for the club. He did said that if Portugal were to win the WC he will retire so definitely he is looking for a glorious achievement to end his career. It's gonna be tough for him after the World Cup. January transfer window will decide but I doubt interests from big European teams.

I wonder what Potter is planning for the rest of the season. They lost 13 points in their last five match weeks and this has caused them to drop down to the 8th position. There is a 16-point gap with the leader now which is quite horrible. Something is wrong with Potter's strategies for sure as they have big problems in even the matches that they dominate completely. Besides they need to add a new striker into the attacking line as well due to lacking in scoring goals easily.

Potter needs time and the fact that he come in the middle gives him little room to work on. I think he doesn't have the players he need yet. Chelsea were reported to have faith in Potter and I think he is safe as of now. They need a striker and they have already in progress with Nkunku for next season. This season, I think they will wobble.

I don't know who they can find in January though. They have been in talks with Nkunku but he would be here in the summer even if they reach an agreement with him. I guess Leipzig would demand a lot of money from Chelsea to sell him right away in January and I don't think Chelsea would be okay to that.

I think its only Nkunku as things stand and I think that's also enough. I mean why do they need two strikers for? Maybe need some additions in wing but I feel they also have decent players in wing. If they can sell some and bring in new players then that would be good.

Arsenal have indeed shown great form to date and now they are five points ahead of Manchester City. But I doubt their consistency until the end of the season. In my opinion, so far they have not been fully tested, the victory over Chelsea is not a benchmark because the Blues' condition is also declining. I will wait for Arsenal to face Manchester City, this match will prove Arsenal's true strength.

After so many years this is the team and the coach I believe in would make us see Gunners winning trophy. I think they are doing great. They have beaten almost everybody except for United who did played well and had a good plan in that fixture. I think we are gonna do well and will be consistent but it's the big games like game against City about which I am worried about. Of course if City drop more points then not an issue but likely is that they won't then it's gonna create lot of pressure for Gunners before facing City.
1010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: November 17, 2022, 06:16:50 PM
One of the people who understand Cristiano Ronaldo is Alex Ferguson, I think he will fully support Ronaldo, in fact I think he will be the first person for Ronaldo's departure in the transfer market later.
Yes, of course the existing problems will make the chances of his departure even greater. I don't see Manchester United keeping him, nor do I see him wanting to stay at Old Trafford much longer.

Yes, Ferguson might still show some support but he also knows what Ronaldo did was wrong. It was going for war against the club by going out public. Besides Ronaldo also knows that his chances of ever playing for United is close to none. About Ferguson I think he will be bit inclined towards the club because these things aren't meant to go out public. Yes maybe their infrastructure is not good or someone is plotting against him to make him out of favour from the regular squad but these things can be discussed behind the doors of a player has issue with that.

With this kind of energy that the entire Newcastle united team are using to play is something that could put them in a very surprising position in the premier league table,  if they should continue playing in this way. Looking at Liverpool and Chelsea right now, it's obvious that their speed of recovery is weakening unlike how they used to recover before when they're down the table and if time is not taken , I see both teams dragging positions with Newcastle united.

Yeah they are doing great and playing great football. Still lot of players has lost their playing minutes but the result and form is what matters in the end. Liverpool are doing better now, and I expect to get consistent again after WC.  Chelsea on other hand might wobble until they get a proper striker and some strong defenders. Right now they don't like a title contending team.  It's gonna be interesting after the WC between these teams on the table.
1012  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: November 16, 2022, 07:33:53 PM
I wonder what kind of Manchester United we will see after the World Cup ends. It feels like things won't change too much about them unless they make some new signings in January. But they need to make these transfers carefully like for the needed positions. They like to spend a lot of money on unnecessary players as well so I'm not sure about them in transfer windows.

However ten Hag will also need to do something to help this team improve their productivity in goals. Otherwise they will continue to have an inconsistent form in the league.

I think it will be United without Ronaldo is what we are gonna see likely. Lot of players and staff are seeing this as kind of disrespect going public about it and I think this is gonna hard for Ronaldo when World Cup ends.

It will be Martial or Rashford leading the attacking line but I am sure they are completely gonna leave Ronaldo out until he comes and apologize maybe (?).  Having Ronaldo didn't have them much impact this season so I think they think they are gonna do fine without him.

Victor Osimhen is definitely having a great season, an amazing season and there is no doubt that he worths a lot right now. Napoli is having one of their best ever seasons as well. However, has he been doing that consistently for a long time? I think he is a good young talent but he is not really worth "lets pay him 70 million euro and put him on striker right away" level today.

Yeah not a consistent goalscorer but we have seen some young talents get 70m easily although they are not upto that level- Alexander Isak. He may be not in the 70m mark worth but for the club it is as he is their crucial player upon which they rely heavily. I am sure that he will find some interest still. There are lot willing to pay that mark for a young striker like him.

Quote
But, if he keeps this up just one more season, this year and next year, then all the big clubs in the world will want him. For now? I still think Real should chase Mbappe as further as they can while they have Benzema, if they fail then Benzema will be good, and then they can look for Osimhen during 2024 summer.

Yeah that sounds like a plan. But I think either it will be Mbappe or they will stay quiet in the market. In 1-2 years they will have lot of names in their shortlist for that position.
1014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: November 13, 2022, 07:13:38 PM
Quite a way to go for Manchester United. They didn't play a very good game but had the win they so longed for. You can tell Ten Hag was furious  with the way his team was coming but in the last minute when all hope seemed lost, Alejandro Garnacho who just came on as a substitute for Anthony Martial found the back of the net.
Manchester United were that close to sharing points or even loosing the game and that last minute goal was such a relief for the team.
Ayer loosing there last league game in the EPL, they managed to collect all 3 points in this game, there last match before the world cup break. A break through Ten Hag and the rest of the team needs for the world cup.

Yeah what a moment for Garnacho. There have been quite some talks about this young player and he showed today what he can do. Great pace and he really can do moments like this just when United needs him. Although starting him would also help him get some experience. Fulham played well and I think if they had Mitrovic in their lineup then the game would have been more difficult. Glad to see a young potential rising at United.

I hope you are not serious? I do not consider any national Cup as a serious competition, even in England in modern conditions it is a third-class tournament and a consolation prize. Probably even the Conference League is a more serious trophy. So in general, Arsenal have a big problem with titles and I hope that this season they will solve them at the expense of City  Grin

Didn't knew you were talking about major trophies, if so then yeah its been quite a time and  actually it does require lot more than a squad to win such title and honestly we didn't have a proper squad or anything to challenge anything major if we talk about 3-4 years ago or maybe more. This time I think we have waited long and so far seems to be going towards the right way. Don't want to know about City or anything but just for a change it will be nice to see Arsenal to winning the title in the end.

Quote
By the way, now the Arsenal championship is quoted as 3.55, and City is still the clear favorite.

Well I am not surprise. City are dominant every season and bookmakers and inclined towards that. With teams like Liverpool and Chelsea performing poorly, they don't see a close competition maybe in favorites to win the title maybe. I still think for Arsenal it is a tough job. Yes they are leading right now but to keep up with the gap needs consistency and we have to be consistent 90-95% of the remaining matches.
1016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: November 13, 2022, 04:07:43 PM
I'm pretty sure Liverpool will be active in the transfer window in January in search of suitable additions to improve the team when the league resumes in January. I can’t say for sure how serious the speculations about the change of ownership of the club or klopp’s future as the manger, if they eventually get rich buyers to take over the club it will be for the best as they will be willing to invest much money in the club.

Yeah there is lot going on around club ownership but as long as its for the best for club it has to be done. Right now club needs a good money to be poured in for some new transfers. Klopp can do wonders with Liverpool as he has shown in the past but now he need new players to strengthen certain areas which are becoming a concern for Liverpool lately. Hope the air about ownership gets cleared soon as I feel only then they can really focus on bring the players they actually want.
1017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: November 12, 2022, 06:29:53 PM
Liverpool having a new Management would see them bringing a new coach of they don't have same visions with Jurgen Klopp. They would also be on the same track if they can just fund Jurgen Klopp with enough money for rebuilding. Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and James Milner needs to leave, also they haven't gotten a replacement for Sadio Mane yet, Luiz Diaz people say.. Bullshit! A good player but doesn't match up with Sadio's work rate.

Klopp is trying to bring young players slowly into the game. Now they will not go onto the pitch and perform like what Mane did or what Milner did but I think it takes time to settle in and come upto the level at which they can perform the best for Liverpool. Players like Eliott, Tsimikas , Nunez, Curtis Jones, are great talent but they will need a lot of guidance and advices, their own way of doing things. Right now they all are pretty ordinary but with experience they can definitely stand out from rest of the players in future.

Although I do feel that Liverpool board needs to allow some funds to get in some players. They still lack in some areas.

Interesting fact is that Brentford is now the one team that can beat duo Manchester this season.
They defeated Manchester United by 4 goals 2 months ago and today they defeated Manchester City with a very amazing performance.
Toney almost created his hat-trick, unfortunately his shot was blocked in front of the goal line.
I was laughing when I saw the expression of Haaland after the 2nd goal by Toney, he looks so frustrated.

Aah, brings back that memory. Starting game of the season and United were defeated by Brentford.. at home was it? I think everyone understimates Thomas Frank and his team but in fact they are a great football team. They certainly do deserve a place in Premier League. They have lot of good players in attack like Mbeumbo, Toney, Da Silva and also are good in counter-attacks putting all pressure on the defence.  Obviously, they will be frustrated as they were playing all-out till the end and just one mistake costed them the whole 3 points.
1019  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: November 12, 2022, 02:39:34 PM
There we go... Thanks Brentford.  Cheesy

City who maintains possession and high line often welcomes lot of risk. Counter-attacking is the great way to break City's defence find the net. For a great counter attacking side like Brentford, they seemed to had a plan and executed that well enough to get 3 points off from the game. The second goal was kinda dicey. De Bruyne had to make a difficult choice- either to make a challenge and win the ball and continue with the attack OR just wait for the player to get in control and put pressure on him which in turn will delay things a bit. With 3-4 minutes one on the clock it was a difficult one and Brentford did great job to find that goal.

Now Arsenal have the chance to increase the gap to 6 points. Just perfect before WC starts but hope Gunners defeat Wolves.
1020  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: November 12, 2022, 01:32:41 PM
Arsenal I think will be happy to receive any trophy (when was the last time they won something?), but the main priority is the title + a ticket to the Champions League.

Arsenal last won FA Cup 2019-2020 one when they faced Chelsea and defeated them 2-1. IIRC I think it was the first season of Mikel Arteta as well. So since then board had quite some trust on Arteta from there on. Yeah CL ticket seems to be the likely target but given how we are playing, it seems we want to go for the big one - PL trophy this season. It's not difficult, just need a bit more hard work and consistency.
