1001  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Suggested Bitcoin Core Pruned Node Size on: October 18, 2018, 07:50:53 AM
I had forgotten about the port forwarding. So being mobile I may have to let that go as I wont be able to control other networks or hotspots, etc.
1002  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Suggested Bitcoin Core Pruned Node Size on: October 18, 2018, 07:13:34 AM
So pruned I can have incoming then? It depends on the network I suppose being mobile (to have ports forwarded). At least a couple networks i traveled to today do but still only 8 out.
1003  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Suggested Bitcoin Core Pruned Node Size on: October 18, 2018, 06:03:34 AM
Everything works well. Read/write to disk is about 2 mb/s "spikes" three or four times a minute, or so. The initial strain is obviously the ul of history for two days. One thing I miss is incoming connections of a full node. Unless I'm missing something?
1004  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Suggested Bitcoin Core Pruned Node Size on: October 17, 2018, 07:40:43 PM
I'll try to load everything including application onto it and will prune at 230 gb.

Fortunately you won't need pruning. The current size of the blockchain is at about 184 GB.

You might also want to backup the chainstate folder (on the same sd card, in a different directory).
This will allow you to get to a working state if your current chainstate will get corrupted.

Will update as it goes.

Feel free to update regarding stability and convenience.
We'll also gladly assist in any occurring problems.

We'll just a couple more hours till done syncing. I did select pruned as Core website said it needed 220gb from what I recall and would be about 10gb added monthly?

I'll try and get the back up as suggested. Currently the "disk" is at 90-100% usage while UL and get's average of 7MB/s read/write. Not to bad. Might UL faster with pruning I imagine.
1005  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Quiet Asic Miner on: October 17, 2018, 03:00:14 PM
Seems interesting. I couldn't see form the video if they had the front facing case fan on or not. I imagine this would use more power than the stock fans but essentially this is all their trying to sell.
1006  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Ebang EBIT E11++ 44TH 45W/TH on: October 17, 2018, 02:07:32 PM
They're sold out already it looks like.

edit: or maybe their website is acting funky.
1007  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Suggested Bitcoin Core Pruned Node Size on: October 16, 2018, 07:15:59 PM
The mobile device I can't update the main drive with more storage but can add the microSD storage. This is a high grade microSD but still more of an experiment, yes.

Looks like 99GB is max for a pruned node. UL speed has fluctuated when using the device. 63% progress into May 2017 blocks, 15 hrs remaining as of now.
1008  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: My Plan on: October 16, 2018, 03:00:57 PM
My concern is the risk involved. There is effectively no way to test the health of a natural gas well. The pressure and line size can only give you a rough idea. What if I commit to hosting a bunch of miners and a month or two later the well stops producing? What if a generator fails and leads to downtime? What if a weather or other event causes peoples equipment to get destroyed or stolen? There is a lot of liability and risk involved that I do not feel comfortable with offloading to others, with nothing short of hiring a lawyer to draft a contract.

Yea, don't host. It not a venture to start unless you have all the capital for logistic setup and liability.

I forget what you said your budget was or hash target but with free power you could grab any unit and power them up. New, cheap hardware is A951, S9i. The T2T 25T is decently priced as well but double the price. You can still find some cheap 841's floating around.

Maybe, but 191 CFM seems weak though. Most likely that is at max power? Try the fan let us know.
1011  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: October 15, 2018, 10:49:42 PM
A bit of speculation, I suppose we need pre threads to discuss new model's then move them from speculation to hardware?

Personally I think Canaan is still refining their 7nm chip and we won't see a 941 till Q1 not that in this market is terrible at all. Maybe I'm wrong.

911 is cool, I welcome anything Canaan has. But as a home miner we want our power paid for. Which can be hard at $0.12kwh or more for most. Essentially your looking at a base of $60 profit monthly to cover an average homes power costs. Which is not an easy feat right now, then to ensure it's sustained with diff even more cumbersome.

Not sure how to resize but should have posted without screen capture.

Half hour in mobile mesh.

1014  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Suggested Bitcoin Core Pruned Node Size on: October 15, 2018, 09:04:37 PM
We'll I'm going to proceed with a "mobile" node with this mircoSD card I paid for myself. Not by mfb or given by PNY. I'll try to load everything including application onto it and will prune at 230 gb. Will update as it goes. Sorry for refection.

1015  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BTC Miner Snow Panther B1+ on: October 15, 2018, 07:40:36 PM
DO pay close attention to the power specs for this! The miner CANNOT use a normal PSU. It requires 2 different voltage inputs, one for the control board and a higher voltage one for the hash boards.
From their site:
3. If the voltage for the miner’s control board doesn’t range from 10.8V to 13.2V and the voltage for the hash boards doesn’t range from 14.5V to 15.5V, the miner may fail to work or even breaks.

If you look at their PSU for the miner it is dual voltage out...

Great eye, making sure we list this clearly.

Also, note he 4 pin for the control board
1016  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: US Tariff Ruling N297495 = 2.6% mandatory tariff on bitcoin mining hardware on: October 15, 2018, 07:04:24 PM
We'll be drafting filings for exemptions across a number HTSUS rulings to be delivered before 12/18/18 deadline. Cost is fairly substantial in five digit range. We'd ask for donations but don't want to presume that our most used rulings will be granted exemption. If you like you can DM me for information on donations. Otherwise if you're a current buyer a portion of our commission charge will be routed to these efforts.

Wishing us all luck.

I can taste a block coming, or is it just lunch time? burger? Block% Beer.
1018  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Current List of Competitive Hardware - October 2018 on: October 15, 2018, 05:29:10 PM
I don't know I missed it. Looks their larger unit is less efficient? The b1+ looks decent, pricing is ok. We'll probably list this after reaching out to Bitfily.
1019  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BTC Miner Snow Panther B1+ on: October 15, 2018, 05:16:01 PM
Looking at the fans I can already hear my wife complaining. Lol
1020  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: October 15, 2018, 04:54:08 PM
Low power makes sense for not just home but all miners. If any line can only take x "powerful" units, compared to 2*x "low power" units it's increased sales and farm are happy with full racks. Although the efficiencies need be there. The A911 sounds great still lot's will be waiting on the 941 release.
