nembex is not up to date until gimre has time to restart it.
dont want to seize smbd, but 3 weeks for a restart?

where is that coming from ? Gimre left on the 24th for a family chrstimas thing (the family thing is an assumption) and on that day everything was fine.
In case you meant 3 days...well, hollidays are a drag sometimes.

scenario 1 : Bitcoin goes full bull in 2015 and crypto faith with it nem can get a nice ride and expand slowly but surely
scenario 2 : bitcoin goes to hell and nem is the crypto savior alternative
scenario 3 : bankster coins like ripple or ethereum swallow everything
scenario 4 : general crypto failure as a concept

u pick one  Smiley
4 wont happen.
3 is the one we have to watch out for.

Ripple can't swallow everthing as Ripple is currency agnostic. You can use Ripple to trade any currency. It's merely a system that happens to have a built-in crypto currency as anti spam meassure. If every bank would be using Ripple it'd  be very easy to get NEM into every bank as we could simply use Ripple to do that.
The problem with Ripple is that if you really get into it it's a really complicated thing to use and it's very easy to be screwed without doing anything (like literally not doing anything).

Hey I noticed that you have a daily limit, a monthly limit and then a total limit.
What's the total limit ? Is that the amount I'll be able to buy/sell for ever ?
1006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption extended[Updates&Discussion] on: December 25, 2014, 11:17:32 AM
Why not XNM? It sounds better in my opinion, like "ex-nem"  Roll Eyes. Though it's tougher to remember the abbreviation XNM that XEM..

So why go for XNM then if its tougher to remember???
why to change the name, NEM is Ok for everyone.

it's not about changing the name. Currency codes start with X so we needed a different 3 letter code. BTC is XBT. We're still NEM but we'll be traded as XEM on exchanges that take these things more seriously. Kraken for example trades BTC as XBT.
1007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Altcoin(s) will prevail? on: December 25, 2014, 07:55:42 AM
As previously mentioned Bitcoin's usage is not very wide spread.   We have estimations from banking writers like Jeffrey Robinson who claim there is only as little as 250,000 people using Bitcoin.  To put into perspective, to again reference something Robinson had said, there is more people with club membership at Air Arabia Airlines than people holding Bitcoin in this world.    Even on the higher side of estimations, being 2 million Bitcoiners, there were more people using the internet in the late 1980s than this higher estimation.  It was a regular lie last year when all the hypers and pump and dumpers were claiming this was like the internet in the 1990s (not even remotely close)

Since the numbers are so low it's quite certain, unless Bitcoin beats some other coin to the punch, that somebody will come along and figure out how to achieve exponential user adoption and it won't take 6 years to surpass Bitcoin  - you can get more than 250,000 people in mere weeks to use something if it goes viral and it is considered cool.

REALLY? all the threads you troll and you picked this one to say something worthy of posting?

Whichever coin gets adopted for the dark market will be $2.

1008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Altcoin(s) will prevail? on: December 24, 2014, 12:20:51 PM
I think it totally depends on how well they are adopted outside of the cryptosphere. Bitcoin is still not very widespread but any alt that would reach similar adoption would definitely prevail imho. Currently most alts are really just objects of speculation and people use them to make money by trading without any real regard for the innovation that they might bring.

So any alt that is going for wide spread adoption or has the means and feature to become adopted is most likely to prevail.

I'm obviously biased so I'll refrain from actually mentioning specific projects Wink

I've been away from this thread and the NEM community for a while and I still have 0.1 NEMstake in my NXT account. I can still redeem this right? I'll have some free time in early January to sort this out so hopefully it won't be too late by then. And how much NEM will I get? I think 1 NEMstake used to be worth 1,000,000 NEM but this number has been changed recently right?

Early Jan should be fine.
Just follow this guide https://forum.nemcoin.com/nem-news-alerts/updated-redemption-guide/

usually when a community start to say things like "to da moon" or things that suggest really high value when it really isn't the case it's a sign that said project is going to fail. Hard!
I followed the NAS thread for a while because it was amusing and this starts to remind me of it.

Huh Doesnt sound really good... Some PR-management would do the magic....

right now pr doesn't make any sense. We actually have something really cool for pr up our sleeves but are holding it back because launch is more important right now.
1013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] www.coinimal.com Buy/Sell NXT,BTC,LTC,DOGE,PPC extremely Fast and Easy! on: December 23, 2014, 02:45:00 PM
Any chance you will offer PayPal as a method of payment in the future ?
I know PayPal was very hostile to cryptos in the past but I think that has somewhat changed.

One of the criterias to decide if we can add a payment method is that it can't be reversed. I know no method that would assure that PP will not be reversed. So, most likely not. Sorry

makes sense.

Ok, OP / first post says NEM distribution estimated in beginning of December. I realize that's a rough estimate, but has there been any updated expectations on when distribution will actually happen? I can't keep up with this thread and don't know where to go for information.

We're not giving out ETAs anymore since it did more harm than good.
I wouldn't stay away for longer then a few weeks though Wink

I don't know why this is being done but 1500NXT sounds a little low if you want people to spent some time on it.
1018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption extended[Updates&Discussion] on: December 22, 2014, 08:46:32 AM

Err, in this case I tend to agree. I'm sure amazing things will be built on top of it.

As an actual transactional platform I found it pretty agonising to use. Joe Public would run screaming he tried to use it in its current form.

Crypto is definitely not very user friendly atm. We will improve that, but it will take time.

That post isn't worth the read. What an ignorant person that must be.
Best thing is that he complains about having to "buy in" to forge. How stupid is that ? Cuz it's so cheap to successfully mine in bitcoin right ? You only need half a datacenter Roll Eyes
1019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption extended[Updates&Discussion] on: December 21, 2014, 07:24:19 AM
I know the way these people are expressing themselves in a child like manner, but people do have a right to be disappointed as we have seen multiple delays. Just wish they would word their discontent a little better.

If you go by what was set in stone we have seen 0 delays. Every launch date we set was tentatively and that fact was made very clear. Peoples selective reading isn't our fault.
People are dissapointed, they have a right to be, no doubt about it. Noone has the right to dissrespect the devs because of it though. No matter how pissed people are, they knew very well that everything in crypto is a risk and even the very first post, before any modification that UP made stated that no promises are made about anything.

And please stop quoting that subhuman moron. Let him do his thing but don't give him any attention. Not worth it.

hi friends,

i want to reedem my stakes today or tomorrow.
I have 16,5 NEM Stakes on the AE with different accounts.
But i want make it easy and all stakes i want into ONE NEM Account.
Is it possible or is it to complicated for you?

Cheers

It's possible and not complicated. Just use the same NEM-Account for all redemption-tx.
If you wanna make it even easier send all of them to one NXT-Account and then redeem all stakes with one tx.
