I've just received to BFL Monarch's.  They identify themselves to Windoze as BitFORCE SHA256 SC and CGMiner 4.9.1 identifies them as a BAS.  Then I get a steady stream of errors saying "RequestQueJobStatus failed <err=0 amt=20>.
Thanks,
Sam

And I guess Slush's pool is much less profitable to pool hop than a prop pool.
Slush moved from his exponential scoring system to PPLNS with a very short N instead. He just never posted an announcement here since he's abandoned the forum as a support channel.

So does the very short N make it hoppable?

OK folks, we have a prop pool listed for the first time in a long time.

What's a 50Miner?  Besides me that is Smiley

Question before I fire up an S3 for this:

When I mine solo on this pool, and shut the miner on and off , so it's not running 24/7, when it gets turned back on, does it start a new block from scratch, or continue where she left off?

There is no notion of progress/starting from scratch in finding a block.  Each hash your hardware finds has an equal chance of meeting or exceeding the current difficulty.

I just tried setting it up on a test system, using GUIMiner.
First, do you have ipv6 set up on your machine? Second: does guiminer even support ipv6? I'm not even sure why anyone tries to do anything with it any more since it's been unmaintained for years now. Why not actually use real mining software... it works fine with cgminer.

Test your ipv6 connectivity here:
http://test-ipv6.com/

I'm using GUIMiner because it's simple and works with everyone else.
I wasn't aware it was outdated as I only use it for testing and I've only been into mining for a bit over a week.

I'll check out cgminer.

Do you have mining hardware or are you using a GPU?

1010  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Hashing power to submit correct difficulty shares for bitcoin on: March 04, 2015, 06:44:34 PM
Hello,

I have a private bitcoin pool with 3 terra hash running. The highest diff share being produced is 17,000,000. To stand any chance of solving a block I need hardware that will submit shares with a diff of 42,000,000,000 or what ever the current bitcoin difficulty is.

How many terra hash do i need in my pool to achieve that?

thanks

Andrew

You're obviously doing it wrong, because I have a dedicated 100 GHS miner that's producing shares with 53Million diff.

Most likely, he wasn't waiting long enough.  Hash rate doesn't dictate what diff of share you can find just how often you find it.
1011  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sick of BTCGuild - Where? Help me point my miners! on: February 26, 2015, 09:27:18 PM
I keep saying that I think when the block reward halves again that we'll see a decrease in the network hashing power as large farms are turned off since they won't be able to maintain the same profit margins as today, hopefully opening the door back up for the "home miners".

Hmm.  Sounds vaguely familiar.  Hope you don't mind if I don't hold my breath Smiley

Hey guys, I was going to ask if the testnet pool for this is still up? I've been trying test.ckpool.org and testnet.ckpool.org and it doesn't seem to exist anymore

Nope

If I want to unplug one of my usb miners and leave the other running, are the correct steps: {U}sb managment-{U}nplug to allow hotplug restart?  Or do I {U}-{D}isable device?

Just unplug it from the USB port.  When you want to run it again just plug it back in.

Are DOT and DAY pools also from China? Look, top-4 pools are chinese, unbelievable.

aren't all the major ASIC companies in china?

Now that I got the U3 up and running I'm trying my luck with the CrytoRig HitchHiker I mentioned previously.  I am using BFGMiner with this stick and appear to have successfully joined the pool, but it is not reporting any successful shares like cgminer did with my U3.  Is this normal to not get shares due to the slow speed of a single USB stick, maybe BFGminer doesn't report them like cgminer does, or is it indicative of a configuration error on my end?

Thanks in advance for the help again, and thanks for putting up with this noob's questions!

The beginning difficulty is set to 1k.  So a few 1k+ shares will need to submitted before the difficulty from the pool adjusts to a lower number.  It could take a while on a lower end miner.

What you mean by "exchange"?

A business that exchanges bitcoin for local currency or vice versa.

Here is another listing with current prices.

But OP's gotta an interesting idea, use generated electricity to generate power to run miners while you drive.

Well he was talking about exploiting the free electricity provided with the sale of the vehicle to mine with.  At best the idea is morally wrong in the worst case it's illegal.
