1001  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Careful scammers and hackers using mail spoofing on: October 23, 2023, 06:48:43 AM
Yesterday I received email from my own email saying that he/she has monitored every keystore and all the information about me is all gathered
he has sent me a Bitcoin address and told me that if I did not send any money in the form of Bitcoin he would expose my data has anyone received this kind of email?
What will you do?
It has not happened to me before, but it always happens to big companies and the hacker will also encrypt the information with ransomware or show the company the data they got and to pay money.

  • For me the very first thing that I would do is change my email address password because even though it's not true, we should always update it maybe 2-3 times a month or what you prefer.
Do you know that you can use 2FA app with your email? 2FA for better security. This can help you not to be changing the password all the time.

This thread belongs to meta, move it to meta board.

If someone ignores you, you can send merit to the person, it will go successfully.

For ignoring someone mistakenly, this is common to mobile phone users.
1003  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If you were to unlearn something about BTC…. on: October 22, 2023, 02:30:40 PM
Have you ever felt having a good knowledge about a certain subject matter on Bitcoin only to start a conversion or thread on the topic and end up discovering the information had lots of mistakes and misconception. How did you really feel about those subject matters and what was your approach towards the observation and correction made by other users on your thread.
That is why we are on this forum. If I make a mistake or I do not get something rightly and I am corrected, I will appreciate the correction and even send merit to the person that corrected me if I have smerits to send. I am happy to be corrected so that I too will be able to correct anyone that make such a mistake next time.

While the concept of Bitcoin in general is broad and wide having a good knowledge of certain topic will require constant research and studying some of the concepts will even require experience and user interactivity. Example is the technical aspect of Bitcoin. I will like to discuss this how long do you spend doing research for a particular topic before making your post or do you have a glimpse of the subject matter get a good summary of it and then start a conversation or quality research is done followed by reviews before engaging in  a conversation?
I have posted some things on this forum before that I researched on very well, but I was corrected sometimes on this forum. There are a lot that are online that are not correct too. But we are going to keep learning by accepting correction.
1004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your nice hit to leave the casino. on: October 22, 2023, 02:00:11 PM
Many gamblers have hit there target for a daily bet or amount they are aiming for but at the same time they have lost it because they refuse to grow and that is the result of greed.  Greed is what every human being is tempted with and some escape falling from it while many have also fallen on it. If we can control our emotion then it is as if the greed doesn't exist because when it comes we can resist it. It takes a lot of effort to control greed anyway.
Anyone that is addicted to gambling will be greedy. If such people win, they will want to win more until they start to lose which would be what will happen at last. If they lose they will continue to play and lose more. I will say it takes a lot of effort to control greed if someone has not learned lessons, but after having bad experience of losses after greedy gambling, nobody will teach him what to do next time to avoid losses after something like that has affected him negatively many times.

Trying to cut corners on securing basically the wealth you are trying so hard to increase is just, well, a stupid choice, no offense! Using the cheapest paper, probably writing it down with the cheapest pen and you might end up in two years with something unreadable. I have a contract from 2018 that because was printed on some really bad paper is now just one gray paper, nothing readable, and lamitating that paper won't do much good either.
I have used cheap pen for backup and I the ones I used more than 25 years ago are still clearly seen on a paper. The only paper that I know that is not good has been the thermal paper.

If you get a pen that students are using with the blue ink or black ink, you can use it to backup your seed phrase on a student book paper and it will not fade. If you do not want to use a pen, you can use a pencil. Both backup can last for many decades.

You can do another backup every year.
1006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Currency nature of Bitcoin on: October 21, 2023, 11:00:21 PM
Practically, Bitcoin isn't isolated from the traditional banking system because its price is supported by USD bank liquidity making its trade as a speculative asset rather than a currency.
You can send bitcoin to anyone at anytime. If bitcoin is not adopted like fiat, it is still an asset that its value is increasing and you can send it to anyone. It is a currency.

Satoshi Natamoto envisioned Bitcoin as an alternative to traditional fiat currencies. If Bitcoin had been trading on its core value proposition - the ability to be your own bank - then Bitcoin would have rallied with rising bank uncertainty
And it is. There are many companies that you can use bitcoin as payment and some other companies are working on that.

With bitcoin on noncustodial wallet, you are still your own bank.

After all, Bitcoin network suffers from scalability issues and high transaction fees, leading many to believe that Bitcoin is more of a store of value than an alternative form of cash.
The scalability issue is not the reason people see bitcoin as a store of value, it is because after long period of time, its price do not fall below the previous price.

1008  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Are chances of fraud very high on Binance P2P transactions ? on: October 21, 2023, 06:07:38 AM
But if you do not give identity documents in these big websites or exchanges, they will put limit or restrictions on your account. Even to do P2P transactions on Binance, some sellers and buyers demand identity documents and they will deny the deal without these documents.
I think he meant about the other end that you're trading with, the other person but not the exchange.
I think I did not put it the way I supposed to, but you are right, I was not talking about the exchange but about fake sites and ways unscrupulous people are demanding and collecting people's personal identity documents and using it in a wrong way to get verified. If you read the link that I have above, you will see how it works. The scammers use the victim identity to register on Binance and also send money from the victim bank account.
1009  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You data is not safe on centralized exchanges on: October 20, 2023, 02:29:29 PM
Centralized exchanges usually don't share your data with any third parties and the purpose of that data is to prevent you from any illegal activities with your account. I am not seeing anything bad about it.
Are you sure? Are you to director of all exchanges in the world or are you spiritual enough to know that insider work can not lead to misuse of users identity documents? What about if the data is breached and stolen by scammers? With the KYC, there are still scam on centralized exchanges if you are not careful you will be scammed there.
1010  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Are chances of fraud very high on Binance P2P transactions ? on: October 20, 2023, 02:21:46 PM
It has not happened to me, but I posted about it some weeks ago. You can read it from these link: You data is not safe on centralized exchanges

This happened in Hong Kong but it can also happen at anywhere in the world. It is an effective way to steal from someone's bank account.

What that is most important is to avoid giving your identity documents to people. Those sites too can misuse your identity documents that you submitted to them.
1011  Other / Meta / Re: "Creation of topic date" Suggestion on: October 20, 2023, 02:05:16 PM
I was thinking that there should be a separate section where we will be able to see the date of creation of the topic like when it was/is posted.
You can always click on the topic to check the date it was created. That has been how I use to do it and I like it like that. I do not see any good reason the creation date of a topic should be beside the topic becuase all it takes for you to know the creation date of a topic is a single click on the topic link.

The only suggestion I have that has not be done is to add report link to every post of a person in his or her post history page.
1012  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much money can you make by investing in Bitcoin? on: October 20, 2023, 01:07:40 PM
If you ask how much I can make, I can't answer it since I'm not yet sell my coins.
If you ask how much I have make, $0.
The first mistake I did was that I invested in bitcoin when the price was $16500 but I sold it at $17000. I later invested in bitcoin at $23000 and I sold it at $25000 but its price increased to $30000. I invested at $26500 recently and I sold at $30000 today. Maybe I am more of a swing trader. I am surprised that you invested and not make any profit yet, what price did you invested in it? Or you said that because you have not sold your coins?
1013  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Much do you Value your Privacy in Gambling? on: October 20, 2023, 09:55:01 AM
If I were in the situation you described, I would first try to learn more about the casino's reputation. I would read online reviews, see if they are licensed and regulated by a reputable gaming authority, and check to see if they have any history of problems with payouts. If I was satisfied with the casino's reputation, I would then be more likely to provide them with the required information.
You do not have to do the right thing at the wrong time. Before you should register on a gambling sute, you supposed to have researched about the gambling site, know if they are licensed and also know if they are reputed or not. If you are just checking for these important information after you won a big amount of money or when you want to withdraw, it might have been late. And if I tell you something, if anyone won huge amount of money like this, they will not even think twice before they will provide their KYC.
1014  Other / Meta / Re: As A Bitcointalk Member on: October 20, 2023, 05:55:54 AM
What is the purpose of this forum? It is about learning from people and people to learn from you about bitcoin, altcoins, other boards and about life.

Contributing to this forum by having quality posts is enough because information is key to understand and successfulness. What I first learnt on this forum is how to avoid scam and when to invest on bitcoin and knowing how altcoins are dangerous even if I have to invest in them. There are a lot that newbies can gain from this forum.

Another thing is that some people are reporting ṣpam and low quality posts that are worth reporting, they are reporting the scam posts to moderators for the moderators to delete them.

Another one is reporting scam.
1015  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think gambling is inbuilt, kids don't learn it anywhere, they do it! on: October 19, 2023, 08:16:20 PM
Also i am not sure where you live where under 10 year olds can gamble. Because even in online you'll need to kyc at some point and there's no way 9 year olds can successfully do that. I guess that advertisement would affect to children if they had a change to gamble, but in my country that wouldn't be even possible.
He is only using the 10 years old children as an example that gambling is inborn. If you read his post and understand, you will noticed that he is referring to the children and is his own youth time too about how they will say let us bet to know if they get something right or wrong and they may not even bet. 10 year old children can not be able to gamble online or on land based casinos. With his explanation, I will also say that gambling is inborn.

It's always the people surrounding the kids and the environment where they can easily learn all this stuff.
I do not think so but environment also matter to some extent. I can remember that there is no online gambling site very well when I was young, but you will see children gambling among themselves. You might nit know unless you investigate, although I am not talking about online gambling and land based casinos and betting agent, but gambling among themselves.
1016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Lump sum Vs DCA" for Bitcoin Accumulation on: October 19, 2023, 02:31:35 PM
DCA is good actually but not everyone knows how to use it. As for me I like DCA but for real i don’t really know how to use it, so I use smart portfolio.
There is nothing hard about DCA. It means dollar cost average. Not necessarily dollar as it can be in your country's local currency. All you have to do is to be using certain amount of money to be buying bitcoin every week or every month. But people use to refer to it as buying bitcoin every week. With that you will be able to buy bitcoin at varying prices.
1017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Lump sum Vs DCA" for Bitcoin Accumulation on: October 19, 2023, 02:20:33 PM
DCA is good, but there are sometimes that you will leave DCA alone and invest big amount. Let us say that you have been DCAing since some months ago and the price of bitcoin within one week fall to $20000, if you have money that you can use to invest at once, you will not hesitate but invest it immediately becuase you have speculated that bitcoin price may not fall further.

DCA is good when you do not know if the price of bitcoin will not increase or decrease. Or if you do not have enough money to invest at once.

You may invest at once if you analyzed the price of bitcoin is low already.

Investors may go for either of the two, it is what the price of bitcoin is at that will determine that.

There is also a time that investing is not good, when bitcoin has increased significantly several times.
1018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: October 19, 2023, 02:08:49 PM
If you can make your own rules and stand by those rules, then you can be a responsible gambler. Don't ever consider gambling a source of income or a do-or-die kind of thing because it will lead you straight to becoming addicted to it.
Did you know that this is what that is driving most gamblers that are addicted into gambling addiction? They see gambling as a way to make money and they continue to use money to gamble thinking that they will make money from it but instead of making money they are losing. Gamblers should not have this kind of mentality if they do not want to to get hurt by gambling. Gambling is good but for those that do it in the correct way.

The first key to stay responsible in gambling is you must get a job first!
If you are above 18 or above the legal age for someone to begin gambling, you can gamble even if you do not yet have a job. But make sure that the money that you use is very small. Assuming your parent is giving you $50 weekly, you can gamble with $5 weekly. Also if you start working, you can have a plan like that with little amount of money.
1019  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stainless steel or Titanium on: October 18, 2023, 07:56:29 PM
Besides to make titanium useful for extreme application it has to be alloyed with aluminum. Titanium aluminide is the material used for extreme applications.
According to what I saw about Titanium aluminide, it has high ductility which is the the ability of a material to have its shape changed if force is applied on it. Titanium is better, not tiitanium aluminide. Titanium aluminide also has a lower melting point if compared with pure titanium and instead of such alloy, stainless steel is better.
1020  Other / Beginners & Help / Stainless steel or Titanium on: October 18, 2023, 11:27:16 AM
I have noticed very well on this forum that stainless steel is good for seed phrase backup because it has high melting point which can be between 1400 to 1530 °C.

Recently I saw the review of iPhone 15 series and I noticed that titanium has a higher melting point which is 1668 °C.

I have not seen people recommending metal like Titanium on this forum. Is it not better than stainless steel?

Another question is that I found out that Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metal on the periodic table, which is 3422 °C. Is this not the metal that supposed to be used for seed phrase backup? Or is it very expensive and not affordable?
