1001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best piece of advice to anyone going into bitcoin on: December 16, 2023, 02:11:32 PM
Since it's has been discussed alot of times about investing gradually which is called DCA, everyone looking into buying Bitcoin is only advised to buy bit by bit on a weekly or monthly basis depending on your capacity is for the mere purpose of not missing out (FOMO). There are lot of ways to do the DCA but it best done manually but if you decide not to calculate it yourself you can go to websites that has to do with DCA hence calculate for you due it's not endorsed by the forum.

Mind you DCA is just the most recommended there are other methods that has to do with Bitcoin investment, you can also develop your method which suits you best.
1002  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Know when to stop on: December 16, 2023, 01:40:38 PM
go for  high quality trades.
Is there anything like high quality trades? I don't think so. its just a matter of confidence and methodology, If your trading and you find yourself losing you don't have to find a quality trade because all trades are trade there is non higher than the others it's about your risk management and your decision making. high quality trade is more like a term used by influencers to keep you motivated.

Generally, trading is like gambling your winning is what the determines your quality and it can be a lucky move at times since it's all about profiting anyone whose losing should take a break and re-strategize and find the faults in the failed trade then correct and make better trading. It's good to take a break but quiting is not an option in anyway, just keep pushing gradually and understand better that's the rule.
1003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance is cuttiung some XRP and ADA products on: December 16, 2023, 01:12:57 PM
Correct me if I am wrong, but only certain pairings will be removed? Or XRP and ADA will be totally out of Binance?
It could also be that the new management might be trying to fix the issues that lead to the fines held on the exchange hence found XRP and ADA pairing as one so it has to be cut off but I don't think the token will be cut of totally from the exchange.

Since my cousin has XRP holdings in his Binance account, I think it’s time for him to move his XRP holdings to another wallet because of this latest move.
It's more advisable not to hold ones crypto assets on an exchange, your cousin moving his assets will be a good decision for him to a good wallet that will be more secured, he should look at list of non custodial wallets and choose one best for him.

I was hopping that after the CEO issue and fine given to binance to pay, that it would be all, but to my greatest surprise it seems the SEC are looking forward to pull the exchange down.
Your not wrong either that the SEC are looking forward to pull the exchange down but maybe it's an assumption. I won't be surprised on any event that takes place on binance because if the CEO could be forced to resign then there is nothing impossible to happen.
1004  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't give attention to unsolicited DM with link to claim a reward. on: December 15, 2023, 11:15:35 PM
I have experienced such too but my was as a result of being a member of an active channel like CMC, Coingecko etc so my username got there attention and they direct messaged me with such tempting links.
Personally I know that no company or some cryptocurrencies will Dm you to claim their rewards so obviously it would a scammers attempt.

Mind you there are no permanent ways to stop receiving such Dm(s) you only have to be cautious on how you react to such information and never to hit the links.
1005  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fight against corruption on: December 15, 2023, 06:21:53 PM
Fighting corruption will not be easy in Nigeria. The only way is to wipe all this politicians and replace them with young people. Because the police, army, judiciary, INEC, legislature all the govt parastatals are corruption not exclude our EFCC.
Wiping away this politicians and replacing them with young ones will not still solve the problem of Nigeria because corruption is deep and rooted in the system. There are other ways which have been proposed to stop corruption but it has not been working because of the grass root leaders. If you wish to fight corruption in country like Nigeria and you make it open then you're a threat and every threat must be wipe away which means you life is I your hands.
Even the young people are corrupt to an extent that no matter what you say to them it will not be their problem as far as Godfatherism still exist.
In my article about Nigeria Godfatherism was one of the major issue because everyone in politics but young and old has a Godfather that decides what will happen and if you oppose this decision then you loss your position. Use the recent case in Rivers State where the ex governor still want to make decisions for the state because his godson is in position (The so called godson is a young man too) so it doesn't matter the age as far as there is Godfatherism the system can't change.
1006  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Back to loss glory on: December 15, 2023, 06:05:24 PM
I wasn't born then but I know life was a bit easier then because people had less worries for crime though it existed but was very minimal. life then was focused on education as the only was to success that is why those men really ask for academic performance when conversing with children, white and blue collar jobs where the best jobs to attend and it was with educational performance but now evolution has change alot of things people now are afraid of each other for safety.

Discipline was the paramount duty of everyone not only ones parents.
what I believe is that the earth revolves and everything lives in a cycle and supporting my believe with the stories of how humans lived I know that it will get to a stage where life will return back to it's original state believe it or not it will. it may not be in our generation or next.
1007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to determine the right transaction fee? on: December 15, 2023, 03:04:55 PM
Not gas fee instead Bitcoin fee or on chain fee, gas fee is usually refer to altcoins. Not memepool instead mempool.

Different type of Bitcoin address, different size of the input and output, also how many input(s) and output(s) are affect the fees you need to pay, you can check in this site https://bitcoinops.org/en/tools/calc-size/
Yes I know, I have used many wrong terms here but you guys understood what I was trying to say, so please ignore the mistakes for now.

I checked the link you provided. I don't understand what's a transaction type is. I see P2PKH, P2WPKH, P2SH 2-of-3 multisig, P2WSH 2-of-3 multisig and lastly P2TR (taproot).
They are Bitcoin transaction types here are the meanings;

Simplified explanation of transaction types for beginners.

P2PKH: "Pay To Public Key Hash" - This is how a big percentage of transactions are made. You are requiring the sender to supply a valid signature (from the private key) and public key. The transaction output script will use the signature and public key after checking the hash of the provided public key with previous output, and through some cryptographic functions will check if the signature is valid, if it was, then the funds will be spendable. This method conceals your public key in the form of a hash for extra security. If the spending condition is set to present a public key hash, then it is a P2PKH TX, and you have the std Op_Dup, Op_Hash160,... structure.

P2PK: "Pay To Public Key" - Unlike P2PKH that contained the hash of public key; this script contains the public key itself. Anyone using this method to send funds over the P2P network is showing people their public key in the transaction details. The spending condition only requires you to present your public key and signature. The public key would be recognized by your wallet (following the above mentioned coding scheme) as „type 1“ address.

P2SH: "Pay To Script Hash" - became a standard script in April 2012. The outputs of a transaction are just hash of scripts known as redeemscript that, if are executed with specific parameters, will result in a boolean of true or false. If a miner runs the output script with the supplied parameters and results in true, the money will be sent to your desired output. P2SH is used for multi-signature wallets making the output scripts logic that checks for multiple signatures before accepting the transaction. P2SH can also be used to allow anyone, or no one, to spend the funds. If the output script of a P2SH transaction is just 1 for true, then attempting to spend the output without supplying parameters will just result in 1 making the money spendable by anyone who tries. This also applies to scripts that return 0, making the output spendable by no one.

P2WPKH: "Pay To Witness Public Key Hash" - This was a feature of segwit which stands for Segregated Witness. Instead of using scriptSig parameters to check the transaction validity, there is a new part of the transaction called witness where the validity occurs. In 2015, Pieter Wuille introduced a new feature to bitcoin called Segregated Witness, also known by its abbreviated name, Segwit. Basically, Segregated Witness moves the proof of ownership from the scriptSig part of the transaction to a new part called the witness of the input.

P2MS: "MultiSignature" - (multisig) refers to requiring more than one key to authorize a Bitcoin transaction and was first applied to Bitcoin addresses in 2013. Generally used to divide up responsibility for possession of bitcoins. Standard transactions on the Bitcoin network could be called “single-signature transactions,” because transfers require only one signature — from the owner of the private key associated with the Bitcoin address. However, the Bitcoin network supports much more complicated transactions that require the signatures of multiple people before the funds can be transferred. These are often referred to as M-of-N transactions. The idea is that Bitcoins become “encumbered” by providing addresses of multiple parties, thus requiring cooperation of those parties in order to do anything with them. These parties can be people, institutions or programmed scripts. Became a standard script in January 2012.

NULL DATA: (OP_RETURN) - transaction type relayed and mined by default in Bitcoin Core 0.9.0 and later that adds arbitrary data to a provably unspendable pubkey script that full nodes don’t have to store in their UTXO database. Anyone can use a NULL DATA script to add some arbitrary data to a transaction, so you can find them scattered around the blockchain. We have to remember that not all miners accept transactions with null-data and not all nodes relay them. (OP_RETURN) outputsLook for empty outputs when browsing the blockchain, as NULL DATA scripts are almost always placed on empty outputs (because the outputs are made unspendable by the lock).
Here is a web page with a list of metadata recently embedded in the bitcoin blockchain using OP_RETURN outputs: http://coinsecrets.org/

Non-Standart - to include this type of transaction to the Bitcoin Blockchain, an agreement has to be reached with a miner: the non-standard transaction will be then included in the blockchain when the miner resolves the block. Depends on the hash rate from the miner it can be quite a while taking into consideration very high actual difficulty which is rising constantly from the start of Bitcoin. Of course, miner will take a proper fee for the non-standard transaction.
If you take your time to read through the source of the quote you will understand better on Bitcoin transactions types
1008  Economy / Economics / Re: Food for thought on: December 15, 2023, 11:11:49 AM
I've been thinking about this for the last few years.

Having a formal job and a single source of income is something that I have to adjust in my life. I've thought countless times about opening my own business, but the question is: what to do? exactly which line of business to go? Sometimes I think a lot about finding a partner, because alone it's very complicated.
If your having difficulty in decision making you should stick to what keeps you comfortable or maybe you can consult an advances economist to broaden your knowledge about income generation through such conversation you can find an area of interest and go into it and make good profit hence having another source of income.

If I may suggest to you a business line weather your knowledge about it or not you can own it and employ some workers to manage it for you, business like pharmacy; you don't need to be an expert on it if you have the capital you can register with the legal Institutes of Health and publish a pharmacy employ a pharmacist. that's one of the business that can profit you because it has to do with health and it doesn't have a season because people sick everyday and need to be healthy so the location and capital is just required.

If you're due for marriage bro you can take a bold step to the other path of manhood and at least you will have an assistance in your area of business while doing other activities.
1009  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Type of gambling and Intelligence on: December 15, 2023, 10:51:58 AM
Does the type of game you play at a casino or sports you bet on show an individual's level of intelligence or how smart a person is?
Blackjack, Poker, slots, roulette, baccarat, sports betting, horse racing, betting on sociopolitical events, keno, etc.

In my opinion, there are games that requires intelligence but it doesn't show an individual's level of intelligence.
In as much as some games helps you to think critically it is still not a determinant on human intelligence.

Sure how intelligent you are can facilitate your change of success on guessing the correct out come of gambles but it can not prove that your higher than those who loss too.
1010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All thanks to my family they contributed and bought bitcoin for me on: December 15, 2023, 08:11:14 AM
It's a bold step to have a stash of Bitcoin compared to those of us who doesn't have but while trying to achieve a goal you shouldn't be pron to mistakes like not putting yourself in a good condition before investing.
The fact that you're desperate to have Bitcoin shows your interest on the profit of the halving next year but well it's not bad after all the point for investment is profit making right ? but I will like to put you in the better direction, what I see from your testimony shows that what you have invested in Bitcoin is what you cannot afford to lose, your parents gave you money to invest in Bitcoin which means you're not the owner of your money, if unfortunately Bitcoin goes the opposite direction and your capital is lost what exactly would you tell your parents happened to the money they gave you? Which means you're not putting in consideration what is required for investment. mind you I'm not tryna criticize your action but make correction. instead of rushing to buy when you don't have something that you can do without is really bad but at least you got something so congratulations to your achievement.

If I have to thank your parents I think they should be able to see this. Congratulations to them they have a son/daughter who's tryna make them proud.
1011  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Starting as a Bitcoin Blogger on: December 15, 2023, 07:19:59 AM
Whatever you decide to do as a Bitcoiner is solely your choice if you wish to be a blogger you have the ball and the court too now is for you play.
Since you are watching YouTube videos I believe the cloud that is creater around blogger by YouTubers should be enough encouragement for you because they all have what you're look for here in the forum. Since it requires alot of information to be a blogger you have to read alot, DYOR etc and be honest.

I also hope you won't be part of false information that spread everywhere.

For sharing your idea to be a blogger I'm not a fan of such I would have you better keep it to yourself and achieve the result than share hence at the end you won't be able hit the target
1012  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginners who considers quantities than qualities. on: December 15, 2023, 06:22:17 AM
Personally, I don't think the way you consider post quality is right, let me buttress a quality post can be a two line statement or less as far as it sends a message I'm quite sure it has a quality than writing a million plus words that beats around the bush without a clear point.

So spending time to create a post depends on what you are about to write, most people mistake quality for quantity there is a big difference in it, like someone writing alot of post everyday with a good messages such as helping out people to solve problems and someone writing same quality without a message it's considered quantity not quality  hence this thing is just intertwined.

I will use people from the forum as example.
JayJuanGee writes a lot of words in his post and is considered a quality poster.

Oshosondy writes a two or three lines sentence and his considered a quality poster.

Then let's take me for example now I can write like JayJuanGee and yet it's still not a quality post and you can write like Oshosondy and it still not be considered a quality post hence it all depends on the message your post carries.
1013  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The need for mental section or public orientation for new gamblers. on: December 14, 2023, 10:25:47 PM
Since this suggestion has been raise severally and it has not been welcomed I will only have to suggest that if you sincerely want to do something good about mental health on gambling instead of creating a sub board, you can bring up all the threads that discussed about the mental health issues in a list and create an interesting thread to be pin here in gambling discussion.

Correct me if I am wrong ..
What do you mean by this? This is all you post. Or is this a mistake?
I guess his a fan of the great philosopher Socrates that claims the famous statement "I know not what means I know nothing". His trying to say his not perfect with that. Lol
1014  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Receiving a Big Payment made to my Electrum Wallet on: December 14, 2023, 06:00:21 PM
There is no hacker out there that can help you recover your lost funds without you knowing them face to face. I believe the person you are talking to is just a social media scammer and i know for sure you have never met him or her in real life.

There is no such thing about viewing your history before anyone can send you any bitcoin to your electrum wallet. It just a strategy to scam you.
If he or she has the fund recovered he should be able to take a the service fee from the recovered funds. And how the heck can someone recover a 1.3 Bitcoin for you without your present or never seen you before imagine the the amount it worths now so it can never be real.

Don't fall victim.
1015  Other / Off-topic / Re: Simple advice, don't get carried away by people success stories. on: December 14, 2023, 05:43:42 PM
The problem most people face especially newbies/beginners in the crypto spaces is wanting to go to level 100 without taking the level 1, thereby making themselves loss what they don't have already.
How can someone hear that I made $500k in a day while trading after my 1000x attempt that failed and I lost, without knowing where I started from, how many times I failed before or how much I have lost before, they just want to make a $500k as I did too forcing themselves to go into what they don't know.

There is no way someone will come online especially on social media to screen how he or she has been losing especially when they have a brand to protect, they will only give you the tip of an ice burg and is left for the person who is hearing to digest what they heard before making any decisions but in most case Beginners just rush into the business that profited someone and wish to profit in just a twinkle of an eye.
1016  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Preparedness is better than prediction on: December 14, 2023, 05:05:11 PM
This is what is making some people in the community not to get it right in their life because, they don't want to get prepare by saving some money in their bank account waiting for the price of BTC to dump before they can buy and hodl for long period of time before they can sell to improve their wealth like the way some people in this local board has achieved their goal through preparedness. We can see that the price of BTC is heading to were some BTC investors will regret for not buy BTC when the price was low, but they know how to predict the price of BTC, when the price will reach before they will buy and when the price get to that particular prediction no money to invest because they didn't prepare for it.
Being prepared for investment is not about saving money in the bank to accumulate whatsoever but is about putting yourself and financial needs inorder. when you have a good cash flow you can separate them according to how pressing your needs are hence not to suffer for the cost of investment.
When you talk about saving to buy Bitcoin or any other investment in your bank account in my honest opinion, it is not a good idea because fiats depreciates as time goes on because they are printing more money every day that's the truth so the most advise I give people is do whatever that is necessary when you have it don't wait for time to come make your time come.

Thanks so much for your comment... My post may not go well with you even though it hits on reality of things in our present state, it's undisputed that some person's have left internet crimes and focus on making legit money through this platform, however, I understand you very well, from a patriotic point of view as it involves spiling out reality even though it sounds like exposing a whole Country.

Learning is a continuous process... With all my degrees, I am still learning especially on this platform as it has to so with something totally out of my scope of knowledge.

Thanks ones again.

I think is time we have a group outside here to know how to tackle this kind of issues of introducing incompetent people. If we go fit bring them to a group first for orientation before them register for the forum. Make una think of this idea.
1018  Other / Meta / Re: [proposal] forum subdomains on: December 14, 2023, 10:42:43 AM
I like the proposal. Stack Exchange also does that which result on more neat topic and easier to use with search engine.

I don't think SMF software supports linking boards to subdomains.

I did quick search on SMF forum, but couldn't find information about multiple subdomain for each forum section/category.
I also did a quick search on it too but I found something that kinda relate to it.
Quote
You can setup SMF with your new domain and update SMF using 'Repair Settings' to fix any paths and urls.

For the old domain you can add a 301 permanent redirect to the new domain, search engine's will see the permanent redirect and update all your search results, it should have a very minimal impact on your search engine rankings.

So if someone goes to http://www.olddomain.com/forum/thread/1/ they would be redirected to http://www.newdomain.com/forum/thread/1/

Search engines are intelligent enough these days to handle these type of instructions.

The bold area shows it could be possible for subdomain too but it will require the admin to do a whole lot of job to fix it.
1019  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Transfert from Munn wallet offchain to multisign vault bleu wallet onchain fail on: December 14, 2023, 01:51:08 AM
Firstly according to a post I read on Reddit Muun wallet is not a true lightning network wallet it uses clever on chain transactions.

The problem could also be as a result of low transaction fees because it requires high fees (sats) to make transactions on muun wallet like you have done it before the transaction fee that was use for the first transaction was in order with the amount you sent so you have to increase the transaction fee for a high transaction.
You can try other wallets to avoid this issues.

I'm not a tech guru to attend all your questions but tried my best.

For images you can't upload images as a newbie in the forum
but when you are due to upload image you will need to go to https://talkimg.com/ and upload the image there that you want to post.
1. You will click on "insert image" icon, and you get these tags:
Code:
[img][/img]
2. Then, you will copy and paste the link of your image from that was generated by TalkImg.com in between those tags, like this:
Code:
[img] https://talkimg.com/images/2023/12/14/E3an9.jpeg[/img]
As a newbie you can only post the link to your image here like this https://talkimg.com/images/2023/12/14/E3an9.jpeg  till you get to a Junior member rank before can post images or you buy a cooper member rank.

You also need to read this
