1001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 21, 2023, 05:31:20 AM
In my opinion, Duo Joao has no other choice at their respective clubs, therefore, when Barcelona needs their services, they are hungry to maximize this opportunity. If you look at how happy Joao Felix is at Barcelona and not only Xavi is helped by his presence, several other players also feel the same way and can both maximize each other's goals. At Atletico Madrid Joao Felix's role was very underrated and at Chelsea his role was not that prominent so when the offer came to play at Barcelona he was very enthusiastic. Any club facing Barcelona will definitely be reluctant to see the composition that Xavi currently has.
Xavi is one of the best coaches in the world not just because of the quality of Barcelona but his relationship with players.  He is an emotional coach who understands the travails of players. We might say that he went for Joćo Cancelo and Joćo Fellx because they are cheap and suits the financial strength of his club.  But he just gave these maltreated players a lifeline. Both Joćos were facing several challenges in their club that could lead to the end of their career but Xavi selflessly came to rescue them.

Xavi has started reaping a bountiful harvest for believing in two players who were highly maltreated and underrated. Felix scored in Barca's game against Real Betis and provided the needed assistance for Robert Lewandowski's goal. Concelo was solid in the defense helping Barca to get a clean sheet. Just hoping that these players will keep improving and contributing to Barca.
1002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are no KYC casinos taking risks? on: September 21, 2023, 03:52:41 AM
Fraud cases are becoming a real problem for gambling industry, from schemes like bonus hunting, account farming, account hijacks and illicit chargebacks on the rise I believe that many new casinos aren't prepared for the menace ahead.
Apart from KYC, there are also other means of dictating these violations of the terms of service. KYC shouldn't be the only means of dictating these violations because personal details can be faked or falsified.

Quote
Some casinos still believe that not asking for KYC is cool, but it's actually not, I see casinos with no kyc as a red flag because you can't run your business this way without getting into trouble with regulators.
I also think that not asking for KYC is cool because it protects the identity or personal information of the client. It will also attract more customers to the casino. If not asking for KYC doesn't violate the license terms of the regulator, there is no cause for alarm.

Quote
Casinos neglect identity check but little did they know that they can be fined for it, if fraud cases arise from your casino and it's been investigated, your business is going away soon or you pay up for fine. One, for failing to screen customers using the KYC process, two, for possible running of unregistered casino.
This is applicable only if the regulator asks for such details from the casino. And I think that casinos should obey or abide by the rules of the regulator.  But the license issuer is care less about KYC, no one can blame the casino.

Quote
Do you think your casino can be regulated without the AML policy? The requirements says it's all, so is it possible that those casinos doing their no KYC stuffs are not even registered?
Every casino should follow the law and if it is violating such regulatory laws, it could be dangerous. Their license can be withdrawn. There is no data bank where you can access all the registered casinos in the world. The only way you can access such details is to contact the license provider. So I can not conclude that casinos who don't ask for KYC are not registered.
1003  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is bitcoin have grant program ? on: September 21, 2023, 03:32:14 AM
Hello everyone

like most the blockchains do
Does Bitcoin have grant program?

I'm sure if they have it will brings so much traffic
Bitcoin is a decentralized currency and not an organization like the IMF or the World Bank. The right question is does any organization give a grant to bitcoin related projects? Like other members have said if you do a thorough research you would find some Bitcoin friendly organization that can fund innovative projects or research which will advance Bitcoin technologies. Last year the Soyapango district in El Salvador offered entrepreneurs Bitcoin grants.

1004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You Tax Efficient With Your Gambling Habbits? on: September 20, 2023, 12:34:04 PM
Now I'm quite curious how other gamblers are managing this part of the story, if they manage it at all.

So, question to you, did you ever consider paying taxes on your gambling winnings, or deduct the taxes with the losses you've created? If not, what is the reasoning behind it?
In my country gambling companies collect tax on behalf of the government. Taxes are withdrawn from wins but this is only applicable to fiat gambling. In crypto gambling, you are not taxed because there is no policy of crypto tax currently. But I think that gamblers should not be taxed for wins. Gambling is very risky and wins sometimes hardly come. Before you win,  you have lost for a long time. The best approach should be that gamblers will subtract all their losses from the win and the balance should be taxed.  This should be applied in fiat gambling, but crypto wins shouldn't be taxed.
1005  Economy / Economics / Re: How to reduce the price of goods on: September 20, 2023, 11:51:33 AM
I have been thinking and trying to analyze what is really causing the high cost of food in Nigeria, I came to realize that monopoly is the major factors, Nigeria government are the enablers. How can one person be the sole major distributor, government should welcome competition in the business sector, every business person should be allowed to produce.
Monopoly is part of the problem in Nigeria. I am aware that many companies were forced out of the market through strict regulation, taxation, and intimidation because they government wanted them to enjoy a monopoly. Many companies went bankrupt and some had to leave the country because the government was giving Dangote tax exemptions and other privileges to enable the company to enjoy monopoly. But there are other reasons for the high cost of goods in Nigeria.

The lack of a storage system is one of the reasons for the high cost of goods in Nigeria. A greater part of Nigeria's agricultural products end up in the waste bin. Food will be cheap in its season and become expensive after a few months because they were not preserved for future use.

Insecurity caused by terrorist groups in the agricultural-rich northern region is affecting food production. Farmers have been forced to flee their farms for fear of attack by these terrorists. Many agricultural lands have been destroyed due to this conflict.

Global warming is causing flooding in most of the country which has led to low agricultural production. Many farmlands have been submerged by flood leading to poor produce.
1006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin.org indefinitely forbidden from serving whitepaper and client to UK on: September 20, 2023, 11:15:25 AM
If Faketoshi couldn't prove that he is the creator of bitcoin,  why would the court entertain the case that he is the author of the Bitcoin Whitepaper? They want to force Cobra to reveal his identity which I am sure will never happen. The UK is becoming very hostile to bitcoin. A few months ago the government was closing many bitcoin ATMs in the UK and now a court is giving a controversial judgment. The bitcoin whitepaper will be always available on other channels so the fraudster will keep losing.

~snip~
Cobra is now on the hook for $640,000 in known fraudster CSW's legal costs, although given he remains anonymous good luck on collecting any of that I suppose?

I wonder if Cobra can get away with paying this fine given that his identity is not known, but that the authorities can always go in the direction of trying to locate him by IP address, even if he is a person who cares about his privacy and uses methods to hide his online identity.
If Cobra fails to pay the legal cost UK government might consider attacking Bitcoin.org. The website might be made to pay the price for Cobra's refusal to comply with the court ruling.
1007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: September 20, 2023, 10:32:07 AM
I was really surprised with the result of the Milan - Newcastle game. Milan was in full control of the game. Newcastle started to play even more defensive after realizing that they can't fight back much. Milan had so many goal opportunities in both half but there was still no goal at the end.

Especially the first half was something else. Milan wasted unbelievable goal opportunities. Newcastle should consider themselves lucky about this one point. The result could have been much worse for them if Milan were a little better at finishing.
A close look at the game shows that Newcastle United will have to improve or they will struggle in this group stage. The draw gave them away one point but I am worried that the English side is lacking good attack and defense. The only player they can boast of currently is their goalkeeper Pope who was the reason they didn't conceive up to five goals.  I will assume that AC Milan was simply unlucky because they did all they could to win the game. With this quality, I am sure that they will qualify for the next round. I have a special love for Stefano Pioli who kept on encouraging his player till the end not minding the attackers' wastefulness. He needs to work on the attackers to assist each other to score goals. Some of them seem to be selfish in assisting others even when a pass would have brought a goal.
1008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Navigating the World of Online Gambling on: September 20, 2023, 10:04:28 AM
In this post, I want to shed light on what you should consider before funding a gambling site you come across.
It is also important to check if the casino is licensed and who is the licensor. There are some countries' licenses that are more reliable than others. Ensuring that the casino is licensed is important in case of litigation. Secondly, the terms of service of the casino are also an important document that should be considered. It contains all the dos and don'ts of both the gambler and the casino. It is paramount to study it and check if you are comfortable with your rights and privileges as well as your restrictions.
Quote
Protect Your Privacy, Be extremely cautious with your personal information. Never disclose sensitive data to anyone claiming to be from the casino, as this could be a ploy to steal your funds or identity. Legitimate casinos won't ask for this information upfront.
Due to regulation majority of online casinos require KYC from bettors. It is important not to expose your password or other sensitive information, but I doubt if you can hide your identity from the casino. Most of them require more personal information after a big win or during withdrawal.
1009  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: September 19, 2023, 10:45:44 AM
But controlling yourself does not equals to keeping something in secret. Gambling responsibility does not equal to keeping gambling in secret also. If someone want to look responsible, is scared that his gambling might turn into addiction, then is is even better to announce that you gamble, than hide it. People around might notice addiction and try to help.

Notice how on the first pages of this topic people supported that it is better to hide such hobby or way to spend time, and how we talk about addiction, wife/husband spending fortune and other problems. A lot of problems we have in our lives are due to keeping something in secret, lack of communication and keeping everything inside than putting it on public. I bet you have lots of example in your life when you would better have told something than kept that in secret or was silent about something.

Instead of keeping something in secret, better surround ourselves with right people.
I was one of the persons who believed that we should keep our gambling life secret to avoid stigmatization from the public. But after reading your post I think it will be good to show close relatives and friends that you are a responsible gambler. I believe most of them will understand your explanation as much as it is not affecting your finances negatively. As you said, it is these people who will help to identify when you are over-gambling or suffering from gambling addiction.

People should know the cause of your problems so that they can offer help. Most people who are fighting gambling addiction become depressed when they don't get help from people. However, relatives might not know the cause of the problem because they are unaware that such a person gambles. From now on, I will seek means to intimate some of my trusted relations about my gaming life.
1010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When the fun stops on: September 19, 2023, 10:20:44 AM
We can see what the world is becoming now, things are getting harder and what's on peoples mind is how to make even more money, there is no time, there are too many responsibilities,  are you sure you getting entertained?
Inflation and a high rate of unemployment are affecting the finances of many gamblers. People now want to survive and much attention is not given to entertainment. Most people don't have extra funds they could use in casinos to enjoy what they like doing. We all hope that things will change in the future.
Quote
Some people already feel like they are not having fun, because what they have in mind is making money, to all people that feels this way, If you feel like you aren't having fun I believe for the greater good, it's better to take a break from gambling and do something else.
The mistake some gamblers make is to see gambling as a source of income. If you are facing financial problems, you have to seek for alternative way to make additional income and not rely on gambling. Seeing gambling as a source of income is the main cause of frustration and gambling addiction. If you don't have extra money to gamble, look for other means of entertainment until your income improves.
1011  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If your into crypto you should also attend events if you can here is why on: September 19, 2023, 09:15:28 AM
Most of the people that are into crypto spend lots of time, learning on their on in front of the computers , phone, laptop, tablets , anything that will provide them with information, but sometimes those are not enough.
We could participate on events with topics are blockchains, web3, where also speakers who are well known in crypto, also founders, because not only you will learn a lot from them but also be inspire for what they have achieved over the years not only wealth but also knowledge.
note: Be careful going to event who always ask for fee's people who are just using crypto to earn from fee's to enter their event where you learn nothing, this were organized by unknown people, pretending to know bitcoin etc.
As much as possible spend less, some events only need registrations, to confirm that you can attend, attend only where you are interested so that you will have time, and do your own research, hope this helps are fellow member to know events coming on their area.
Here is a link where you can see upcoming events in the future, please share if you have other links of crypto events thank you:
https://bravenewcoin.com/events
https://cryptoevents.global/
Attending events about Bitcoin and blockchain technology has its benefits since you can have one-on-one interaction with the guest speakers and also gain practical knowledge.  But I can attest that there is nothing you want to learn about the crypto industry that is not on the internet and relevant books.  The internet has all it takes to make one proficient in the industry.

Most of the founders of bitcoin live anonymous or quiet lives so you can hardly see them in such events.  In most cases, these speakers or lecturers are wannabe crypto experts that are only concerned with promoting a shitcoin or scam project. You can hardly find a genuine event that has no hidden agenda to make a profit. I will be willing to attend an event that will be organized by any reputable members of the forum, but I am sure this will never happen because the forum is enough avenue to learn.
1012  Economy / Economics / Re: On Apple's $200 billion dump and US shooting itself in the foot on: September 19, 2023, 08:33:28 AM
I'm not a fan of both countries, although I tend to hate China more. But I think I'm objective enough to see that the US has indeed been shooting itself in the foot for the past years, even decades. And in so many ways.

People tend to assume, for example, that cheap labor is the only factor that drives companies like Apple away from the US and into China and neighboring countries. It's certainly not.

Both China and the US are bullies not just against other countries but also against their very own people. It's certainly less severe in the US, but that it's done against a people for whom liberty is paramount, it has much more tremendous effects.

Anyway, Apple is more Chinese than American now, so...
People from developing countries seem to be benefitting from this trade war between China and the US. This war has led to the transfer of technology to other countries. Thailand, Vietnam, India, and Cambodia are now the major producers of some of the semiconductors used in the US as they stop relying on Taiwan and China. Some US companies in China moved their industries to China's neighbors which has made these nations advance in technology and increase in employment and revenue.

China is now seeking other markets after the crackdown on its investment in Europe and the US. After the sanction and legal restrictions placed on Huawei in the West, even countries like Lithuania encouraged their citizens to drop Huawei smartphones,  the Chinese company has shifted its market to Africa and the Middle East. Almost 70% of 4G networks across the African continent are handled by Huawei. Most of these developing nations need these important infrastructures and the trade war between these two world powers has made them an important market.
1013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have a clear understanding of what DCA means on: September 19, 2023, 06:30:27 AM
DCA does not only include investing small amount of capital over time. Small or big capital for each time of DCA depends on your total capital for investment and your DCA plan.

You even don't have to use a same amount of capital for each DCA round. Sometimes you can use smaller or bigger amount of capital for a DCA round. Because it can depends on your feeling about the market trend as well as your available funds for DCA at that time. If you see the market is good and you have money in hands, you can DCA with doubled capital than your normal amount.

If your income flow suddenly decreases, you can stop DCA or DCA with smaller capital amount.

Many things that affect your DCA plan and don't bind yourself with any amount of capital. Even you try, you will fail to follow it.

Want to have DCA math and tool, use it https://dcabtc.com/
Applying the main DCA which is the same amount at equal intervals will favor those who already have the money to invest based on their plan. Since the money is already available they can easily invest the same amount at equal intervals. It can also favor those that have a stable and consistent income.  But when someone's earning is not consistent DCA might become inconsistent. The investor will buy more when his income for a period is high and less when his income drops.
1014  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Belatedly come back with interest in Bitcoin. on: September 18, 2023, 09:07:43 AM
For several days, I have been hearing a lot of buzz about Bitcoin on various online platforms and social media. Although I had no idea about Bitcoin,  so I didn't bother with it.
But one day, suddenly, after learning about the importance of Bitcoin from my friends, I became very interested in Bitcoin.
That's why, from now on, I want to know and learn more about Bitcoin. Although it must be said that my interest was born quite late, I am still glad that it was not too late.
I hope I can learn more about Bitcoin from this community, and the community will help me learn it.
I don't know the kind of buzz from the social media you were exposed to before you decided to seek more knowledge about Bitcoin. If the information you got is that Bitcoin can make you rich overnight, please discard it. Bitcointalk is the best discussion platform for everyone willing to learn. If you hang around here for more time, you will learn more about the bitcoin industry. You are not late since Bitcoin is still in its early stages and has more potential to grow. 1015  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk user Joerii passed away... on: September 18, 2023, 08:32:59 AM
When you see news like this, you start to think about how a person can suddenly die. All our topics in the topic of reputation are sheer vanity of vanities. All of them turn into such a small thing compared to the grief that befell this young man and his family. I also want to express my condolences to the family; maybe one day they will come here just to read his life story here. I would also like to say: always tell your children and loved ones how much you love them and do not spare your feelings, because there may come a time when it will be too late.
The most painful part of the story of Joeri Pross is that he was just 40 and had a young family. His body was found in a river and the police ruled out crime. Which means that he either committed suicide or accidentally drowned. The rate of increase of suicide is becoming very high every day. You meet somebody today who looks happy, you might even party, drink, and laugh together but the next day a piece of news will break that he/she has committed suicide. People are dying in silence because of so many issues that they keep secret until they finally consume these issues. This is why it is important to treat people nicely so that you don't contribute to the secrets problems they are facing. May God show him mercy and grant him eternal rest.
1016  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anonymity provides a level playing field. on: September 18, 2023, 07:54:10 AM
The main purpose of the forum is to discuss bitcoin and the crypto space a large. And one of the merits of bitcoin is that it promotes privacy. The forum is a good place to learn how to practice to live a private life. That is why you are not expected to expose any personal information to register or participate in the discussion. I am aware that we have local boards where members relate in the form and sometimes meet physically but it is better to remain anonymous.

This is very paramount.
Summarily,  being anonymous:
-is good and helps everyone grow well by taking down any form of unnecessary competition
Unhealthy competition is unnecessary because it could breed envy. But we have to note that there is no need to compare your account with someone else since we don't have the same level of knowledge or experience. The bottom line is that we shouldn't take a simple community too seriously.

Quote
-it reduces external fight or confrontation (if you're known the people close to you would want to confront you if you maybe replied negatively to their post )

-it also ensures safety of every member in the forum in the outside world.

-it creates equal opportunity for growth in the forum(this is the major benefit as slated in the topic)
Some persons can be offended by a simple discussion in the forum and can take it personally. But I have not heard of any case of confrontation outside the forum due to replies and this should not be the case. Forum matters should be treated within the forum this is why we have an option to PM members to discuss issues. As is said before, we should not take the forum too seriously. But I got your message cleanly, to avoid unnecessary drama, it is better to remain anonymous.
1017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Experience for new and old gambler? on: September 18, 2023, 06:18:47 AM
Do you think it is the same experience for a gambler who has practically experienced and been involved in gambling evolution since gambling was on the street side with personal belongings or money, to spaces and buildings for gambling with money, to gambling with money online, and now to gambling with cryptocurrency online with a gambler who has experienced a few or just one of the forms of gambling? whose addiction will be harder to break?
This is a brief but exciting history of how gambling has changed over time due to innovation brought by science and technology. But gaming remains the same, it still involves the risk of losing or winning money or anything of value. Be it roadside, online, or crypto gambling,  you have to bet something hoping to win something better.  The difference is that gambling has become more convenient and private. Instead of moving out from your home or office to gamble,  you can just do it anytime and anywhere. Privacy has also been improved because you can successfully hide your gambling life from relatives or the public.

But one of the challenges of this change is that it has also increased scams and fake casinos. Since most of them don't have physical offices, they can easily claim to be real and steal people's funds and victims will not have any means of seeking refunds. But those days when casinos or bet firms have a physical presence, one can easily report government authorities.
1018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: September 18, 2023, 05:44:12 AM
When a state prohibits gambling, it is obviously applied to all its citizens. Once upon a time, only men are allowed to gamble and it was frowned upon when women are actively participating in gambling activities like during the Roman times when women were not allowed to participate in gambling but due to some changes of regulation and the campaign of gender equality, it is not an issue anymore if woman is actively engaging in gambling activities especially in a country where equal rights between men and women are highly implemented.
Religion and cultural belief is the main reason why women are not active in gambling in some countries of the world. In some countries, women are not even allowed to drive cars or freely move around. They have to be followed by a male relation if, they even want to see a physician just to ensure that they don't mingle with the male sex. This is because religion and culture forbid them to move freely and interact with men who are not relatives.

However, the introduction of online or crypto gambling is gradually changing this narrative because these women can gamble from the comfort of their homes. All they need do is to keep it secret from their partners and relatives. Wins can be transferred to their accounts so there is no need to go out to cashout. But these women also risk severe punishment if their secret is revealed. In some locations, it can lead to societal stigma and punishment like flogging.
1019  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting the Right Information About Bitcoin and Don't Be Misguided! on: September 17, 2023, 04:34:23 PM
Bitcoin holds the potential to aid countries with stagnant economic growth and has opened up new vistas of financial freedom for them.
Bitcoin will not make a poor nation rich or lead to economic growth of any country. It is a currency that will give any nation an alternative means of payment especially during international trade. It will also help nations to avoid middlemen such as SWIFT during bilateral trade. Nations just like El Salvador can also invest in Bitcoin and hodl until they make a profit. Bitcoin-friendly nations can also attract crypto investors that offer diverse services to crypto clients and this can also create employment opportunities. But until poor nations adopt measures that will improve their economy Bitcoin can do nothing.
1020  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: September 17, 2023, 03:52:02 PM
Monaco failed to widen the gap after only drawing 2-2 against Lorient. This is an away match for Monaco, however they should win this match if they want to continue to widen the gap from their competitors. I think this result is not too bad because in the last 5 matches Monaco has never lost at all. On the other hand, Lorient is quite slumped in 12th position after winning 3 draws and 1 defeat in the last 5 matches. Apart from all that, I think Monaco must improve their consistency again because in the next match they will face Nice, who previously managed to beat PSG.
Monaco just lost an ample opportunity to solidify their hold on the number one position in League 1. They might even lose the top spot if Marseille beats Toulouse which will take the former to twelve points.  It was a good day for two Nigerian-born players Tosin Aiyegun and Folarin Balogun ( representing Benin and USA), Tosin scored Lorient's first goal while Folarin netted Monaco's second goal. Monaco was comfortably cruising to victory before the extra-time goal by Romain Faivre. Nice will not be an easy team to beat considering their recent form which includes an unexpected win against the defending champions, therefore Monaco needs to put in more effort. Lorient's next game will be against Nantes a team that won their game today against Clermont Foot.
