1001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: August 31, 2023, 09:41:50 PM
Newcastle United get in a toughest group but it is more than a nightmare for them. They did not expect to be in such group. PSG, Dortmund, Milan and Newcastle United will have to beat each other to get only two tickets to go next.

That group is filled with inconsistent clubs. PSG can fumble anything in this life. They're the biggest team in the group in terms of squad but you can't even guarantee that they'll qualify.
Dortmund is a team that is known for its bottling. They may end up not qualifying for the Europa even. This is something they have done time and again.
We do not know the kind of form Milan would come with this season but even in their best form, they're not unbeatable.
Newcastle stands a lot of chances in that group but they would have to fight tooth and nails to qualify
1002  Economy / Economics / Re: Another Coup in Africa: What is the economic effect? on: August 31, 2023, 05:54:45 PM
Some observers believe that these coups in these former French colonies like the Central African Republic, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger is to reduce France's economic influence in Africa.

I see it as the reaction of a people who are tired of being pushed to the wall. When you push people, the keep going back until they have their backs to the wall, at that point there will be no where else to go than to push back. There is so much human and natural resources in these African countries but its leaders continue to just focus on themselves.
Military take overs like these are inevitable.
It's better it's not an uprising or a revolution where there is an excess loss of lives.

The concept of democracy in these regions is a scam. It's just a way these politicians use to subdue it's citizens. This is evident from the just concluded election in Gabon. There's no way a particular family rule a people for over 50 years while the people remain in abject poverty and a majority of the people would still vote them into power. That is just an insult on the intelligence of the people. Add that to the long list of things these people suffer at the hands of their oppressors.

The argument from the citizens of these African countries is that France is only concerned about exploiting raw materials and doesn't care about the development of the local economy.

It is a shameful thing for a country to allow itself be at the mercy of another country. The resources are in your country, they belong to you, and should control them.
You don't give over the control of those resources to another country and expect them to take you seriously.
It's so bad because this is the situation of almost every African country. You can't allow another man control what you own, it doesn't matter what. These politicians just make deals that would put more money in their pockets while these external country squeeze out every resources in the country. There is no way the external country is to blame for this. Blame your leaders.
1003  Economy / Economics / Re: People keep talking how weak dollar and how bad usa economy getting on: August 31, 2023, 11:09:15 AM
DOLLAR is not top power because of value or or reasoning of trade. its top power due to politics, debt, false accounting and of law determining that other countries should measure their value/produce stats on American terms/conditions.

If the dollar was always shit, no amount of politics or false accounting would make it a top power. The dollar had trust. People keep claiming the dollar is dying and losing its value when in reality it's just going through what every currency goes through. Even Almighty Bitcoin goes through rough patches, talk more of a centralized currency.
I'm not overly a fan of fiat currencies but I'll rather have my savings in dollars than in any other currency of the BRIC countries. At the end of the day, that's what any investor cares about. People need security, they need something they can trust and the dollar to an extent gives them that.
Don't get me wrong, I know the dollar won't be at the top till the end of the world, There have been several other world powers before the US, but for the foreseeable future, the dollar is still going to be way ahead of any other thing BRIC comes up with.

just count up the population of USA, canada, EU(under 1bill)
then count up the population of those countries forming BRIC's and you will see where the gross domestic PRODUCT totals will exceed which

Then you also look at the purchasing power of those BRIC countries and the purchasing power of the USA, Canada and the EU. Where does a product sell more if not the US?
It's not just about the population. A good number of those BRIC countries can't afford what the American market can afford.
Population alone does not determine the GDP of a country or region.
1004  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you ever been scammed ? on: August 30, 2023, 09:39:34 PM

9. The clipboard virus scammed. In that case LoyceV explained that (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5190776.0) :

How it works
1. You select a Bitcoin address, and press CTRL-C.
2. The malware changes the address to an address owned by the hacker/scammer.
3. You press CTRL-V and lose any funds you send.
Even if you check part of the pasted Bitcoin address, chances are the first few characters are the same, and you still won't notice the address was changed.

Ever since I read that LoyceV thread, I've been very careful about the address when sending BTC. To be honest I didn't care about that before because I didn't know a scam like that existed. I just copy and paste and send the Bitcoin to the wallet, but now I take my time to check through the address if it's the same.

Recently I wanted to send BTC to a friend. We've already discussed previously and he said he was going to need some Bitcoin from me that he'll pay back later. I agreed and asked him to let me know when he needed it.
So this week I received a WhatsApp message from him. The message was his Bitcoin address, with a second message "Let me know when you've sent it". Since we've already discussed it I wanted to transfer the coin immediately but I stopped and decided to call him and confirm. I may be chatting with someone else, maybe someone who stole his phone or whatever. So I called him and asked if I should send it and confirmed that it was him before I sent it.

I know it doesn't mean much but the single fact that I now take my security very seriously since joining this forum is a big WIN.
1005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2023/24 | Prelim Qualifiers on: August 30, 2023, 08:43:04 PM
Rangers is playing against PSV, last season re-match, first match finished 2:2 as last season, will this one end-up 0:1 as last season, or PSV will find their revenge

Right now PSV is winning 3-1 and I think the game will stay like that till the end making the aggregate score 5-3 in favor of PSV. There is still plenty of time though and anything can happen to turn the tie around, but doubt Rangers will do that.
The game is being controlled by PSV and they're not giving Rangers a lot of chances, but we know that Rangers is a team that makes use of the few chances they get. It's evident in the fact that they scored the first shot on target they got.
Either way, I still believe PSG got this match on lock.

1006  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC go above $30,000? on: August 30, 2023, 01:53:22 PM
Even without Bitcoin spot ETF, I have always believed Bitcoin will go beyond $30k. Bitcoin has peaked at about $31k this year or thereabout, so it shouldn't be a problem for it to go beyond 30k again.
When the price dipped recently and got to 25k, I was still optimistic that it would get back up to between 30k and 35k.
Now if these analyses of yours are correct then I can say with a certain degree of certainty that Bitcoin will get up to and most likely go beyond the $30k mark.
1007  Other / Politics & Society / Re: POLITICS AND LIES on: August 30, 2023, 07:08:47 AM

The truth is politics shouldn't be like that. There can be differences amongst people with different ideas and that is where people disagree but the truth should always be said.
But in this world, politicians are not looking out for the interest of the people they serve, they're only looking out for their interest which is why they tell lies and push propaganda.

If a politician is looking out for the interest of his people, there will be no need for him to lie, he'll just tell the truth even if many would not agree with him.
1008  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another day to fear centralized exchanges, not your keys not your coin on: August 29, 2023, 11:41:33 PM
Looking at things further, I doubt if the hack story is even true. I guess they needed to come up with a great excuse for mismanagement of customer's funds.
Yes, I think they mismanaged the funds. The founder of that exchange is just a lower version of Sam Bankman-Fried.
All they're doing now is damage control. They can't come out to say the funds were mismanaged so they have to come up with a more suitable excuse.
The sole act of converting every asset people have on the exchange to the Patricia token without approval by the owners of the asset shows that it is a fraud.
1009  Economy / Economics / Re: Business failure among small-scale entrepreneurs on: August 29, 2023, 11:37:44 AM
👉 Wrong Expectations
Some startup and small business owners expect money to start rolling into their business account immediately with doing little or nothing.
The idea of starting a business with the wrong expectations and impatience has made many businesses to collapse within a short period of time.

This is one thing that people seem to always forget. It's okay to dream big and aim high but we have to be rational. You can't start a business today and expect the profit to start rolling in immediately. Sometimes when things don't go as you thought you would immediately it doesn't mean you should quit.
Running a business is quite hard and starting it up is even harder so you have to be ready for what comes after you start a business.

Don't look at others who are making tons of money from that particular business and feel you should be making that much money too. You have no idea how things were for them. So instead of thinking it's a get-rich-quick scheme, learn, adapt, grow, and find out ways you can develop your business.

Aside from that, make sure you provide grade-A level services or products.
Your business won't survive for very long if your product and or service is shit.
1010  Economy / Economics / Re: Which problem will you choose to solve? on: August 29, 2023, 11:11:20 AM
but is easier to solve a rich man's problem than solving the poor cases since with the rich you have money as a tool to work with in solving the problem

I think it's easier to solve the problems of a poor person than to solve the problems of a rich person. For a problem to be a problem that Money can't solve then that problem is pretty big.
Most, if not all the problems of the poor can be solved by money.

A lot of poor people die because they don't have money to afford good health care. Some can't afford to raise money for a particular surgery and the person dies. It happens all the time. Imagine creating a solution to that kind of problem.

There was a time when malaria was a destroyer in some parts of Africa, especially West Africa. In those days, it didn't mean there was no treatment for malaria, but it was pretty expensive so the poor couldn't afford it. Today with as little as $5 you can treat your malaria.

It's no secret that the rich live longer than the poor, but further research has shown that the gap in life expectancy between the rich and the poor is increasing.

For the poor, 80% of their problem can be solved with money, provided that money is properly managed because money can give them everything they lack. But for the rich, most of them need what you can't give them.
1011  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 28, 2023, 10:14:57 PM
The season is just starting and it is just week 3, I think he deserves to be given chance to get along with his new team mates and build his confidence. At Chelsea it wasn’t so smooth last season and a lot didn’t play out as it should. Some players from Chelsea are still having a hard time adapting to new clubs. I don’t know why but I still have faith in Harvertz and can’t wait to see him in top form and shutting up his critics.

I'd have faith in Havertz if he has a defined role that he plays on the pitch. He's not a left winger, right winger, striker, central midfielder, attacking midfielder, supporting striker. So what exactly is he good at? He's not a good dribbler, he's not a good passer, he's not a good goal scorer. It's very difficult for a player like that to succeed at a club.
He's a supporting striker at best but the sad part is, his position doesn't exist in Arsenal. Arsenal play with two central midfielders and one defensive midfielder. Both central midfielders go forward and link up with the attack. They already have Odegaard for that.
If we are to assume Havertz is a substitute for Havertz, it would be false because Havertz can't do what Odegaard does. He can't hold on to the ball and create spaces.

It's hard to see Havertz succeeding at Arsenal, he may score a couple of goals and give a couple of assists, but he won't be a great player for Arsenal
1012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is regulations among the key factors that affect the price of Bitcoin on: August 28, 2023, 09:49:39 PM
I remember when China announced its ban on Bitcoin, the price of Bitcoin dropped drastically. Then when Japan announced that

Bitcoin was legal tender, and the price of Bitcoin went up.
Regulations affect the price of Bitcoin, but it's kind of limited because the regulations are made for a particular country, and unlike fiat, Bitcoin is an international currency. The regulations of a particular country might affect the price of Bitcoin but it is limited.
1013  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: August 27, 2023, 09:42:31 PM
Real Madrid did the best they could do in the last transfer window even though their may not have been the club that spent the highest money in signing new players but then also the club did not let go too much of their players since they had already invested a lot of money on those players in the previous season and this has reflected in the result Real Madrid recorded in the last two seasons.

I don't believe Madrid did all they could in the transfer window. They have a lot of loopholes in their squad. Let's not get carried away by the early victories. They need wingers, they need a striker.
Madrid has scored 6 goals this season, 4 have been by Bellingham who is a midfielder. As much as that is good news for Bellingham, it should be worrying for Madrid. What are their attackers doing? Sooner or later Bellingham won't be able to score as much as he's scoring now, what would happen then?

I don't know how long the Vinicius injury is, but it better not be serious because Madrid will be in serious trouble if he's out for a long time.

Drama 7 goals is really interesting to watch Cheesy
I enjoyed this match because it was one of the most watchable matches of the week.
Barcelona still have problems in their defence especially when they get counter-attacked as the players fail to get back but what I like is that their goal productivity is also back. After 2 weeks of poor finishing in this match they seemed to be back to the Barcelona that always scores a lot of goals but there are still some things that need to be fixed by Xavi.

The problem with Barcelona's defense is two things. One is Aruajo's injury and the second is a right back. If they had a right back, somebody like Cancelo, he would play the RB position while Kounde and Christensen okay the CB. Or Cancelo can play the LB when Balde is injured, Kounde plays the RB, and Eric and Christensen play the CB. Inigo Martinez is still out injured, they will need him back ASAP since Araujo is injured.

Lewandoski might be a problem for Barcelona if he doesn't pick up his form. He needs to start scoring the chances he gets. Barcelona creates a lot of chances and with an in-form clinical striker, Barcelona should have been at least 3 goals up before Villarreal got there first.
I guess they have to manage till January when Vito Roque arrives or Ferran Torres is going to step up
1014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 26, 2023, 09:36:40 PM
Tottenham would have had more goals should Maddison had been a little less stingy with his second attempt. Richarlison still finding it difficult to replicate what he did for Brazil in his current Tottenham side. Can’t say he ain’t trying or giving it his best but his game plan don’t seem to align.
Richarlison is going to be a problem for Tottenham if they don't look for another attacker before the window closes. There's is no way they'll make it to the top 4 with Richarlison leading their attack.
I know he was a very good player at Everton, even though he wasn't the kind of player to give you 30 goals a season, he was decent. But right now I don't understand what's wrong with him, he's so awful and it's so shameful to see.
I hope he finds his footing soon because Tottenham needs him now that they're without Harry Kane.
1015  Economy / Economics / Re: Top richest from history, one hyperinflated the economy single handedly! on: August 26, 2023, 01:27:16 PM
It is difficult to compare the wealth of people from different times. That is why people are always regarded as "the richest man of his time"  as Mansa Musa is usually regarded.
Mansa simply means King, so that translates to "King Musa". That means he was a monarch and we can't determine what portion of his wealth belonged to the empire and which was his personal wealth.

Before Musa became king Mali was already a very strong and big empire. They were so sophisticated that they were able to send out 200 ships to explore the Atlantic Ocean, which was the "first exploratory mission". The second exploratory mission of the Atlantic Ocean by the Mali empire was with 2000 ships.
I'm just putting this out so y'all can get a rough idea of how rich and sophisticated they were at the time. I don't think even the British Empire could afford that at the time.

Some people argue that in those times, the wealth of the empire belonged to the ruling Monarch.

Some claim that Mansa Musa's wealth was equivalent to about $ 400 billion, but like most historians love to argue, his wealth is impossible to accurately calculate.
Some believe that Musa had more gold than people even imagined and I have to believe this. I believe if his wealth is calculated accurately it would be more than $400billion.
When you read about the things that he did, and the amount of gold he travels with you'll understand why I feel that way.
Musa went to the hajj with 18 tons of gold, that's like a billion dollars in today's value. So yeah, he might be richer than we imagine.
1016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: August 25, 2023, 09:40:02 PM
However, Real Madrid could play better in second half, they have a better shot attempts. Finally, Real Madrid could score a single goal in minute 81' (Jude Bellingham). Once again, this man leads Real Madrid to get full points. He becomes the most impressive player in Real Madrid so far. Now, Jude Bellingham is the top scorer in La Liga temporarily. It is very rare that a midfielder to be a top scorer.

In my opinion I believe Madrid should be worried that a midfielder is their highest and best goal scorer at the moment. The attack is not effective to me. He may manage to score goals now, but he can't do it for all season long. A time will come when he has to be a midfielder and what would Madrid do then?
Ancelotti said they won't be signing any more player this window, that's not a good call for me. They need attackers that can score goals. Vinicius is the only reliable attacker now and even him is injured now.

These wins of real Madrid don't deceive me, I still don't think they are ready to face the top clubs in Europe when the time comes. Their midfield may hold, but the attack won't be able to deliver.
1017  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammers are getting innovative. on: August 25, 2023, 08:09:41 PM
I wanted to make a topic on innovative scams but since there's already a topic let me just say it here.

There's a very old trick that scammers use to scam people on social media, Twitter especially. What they do is, when someone makes a complaint to a company about a failed transaction they go under the tweet and reply as the company and drop a telegram or WhatsApp link that will help solve the issue.

This type of scam was obvious at the time because they were not verified accounts and their comments were automatically hidden by Twitter because the algorithm had detected them as spam accounts.

Now that Twitter verification is just a few box, any Tom, dick, and Harry can get verified and comment under your tweet like the company you're making the complaint to. They may also refer you to their DMs.

If you make a complaint about the services of a company you patronize on Twitter do try to check and verify if the people replying to you is the official company page.
1018  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think privacy is important for a beginner? on: August 25, 2023, 05:13:41 PM
Privacy is a necessity.
Without CBDC banks already need verification before you can have an account with them. They know everything you do with your money and everything you pay for. An institution shouldn't have that much power over any individual. They can freeze your money at any time and give some lane excuse about it.
What's worse is they are controlled by the government and the government can use it as a tool to tighten their grip on people's throats. This happened openly in my country about 3 years ago.

A lot of people don't care about privacy. Some people have said I'm overreacting or being unnecessarily paranoid. Some would say you're a conspiracy theorist.
A lot of innocent young people who called out the government on their injustice in my country suffered and most of their suffering came through the banks. They had all their money in the bank. A lot of them had no single Bitcoin in their wallets, that's if they had any wallets at all.
This single action showed me how much of a pawn we are in the hands of the government.
To an extent, you can't stay out of the prying eyes of external bodies completely, but to an extent, you can control how much they see and know and you can also control how much control they have over you, this would not have been possible without Bitcoin.
1019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A creative way to introduce BTC to newcomers on: August 25, 2023, 04:38:20 PM
I like how the video quickly and subtly lets people know that it's not all green on the Bitcoin side. People will know from the very beginning that Bitcoin has gone through rough patches and very rough patches. So these newbies don't think it's something they can rich off of overnight.
I would have loved you to include the years of the dips and bulls in the video so newbies will know that they have to be patient because the period between the dip and the bull is not always short.

Maybe focusing about money oriented isn't really a good way to introduce BTC to newcomers, but your are intended to talk about the price, so I can't judge it.

I don't think you can talk about Bitcoin to newcomers and not talk about money. You have to compare it to Fiat currencies and you also have to talk about Bitcoin as money because that's exactly what it is; a currency. Bitcoin is money so talking about Bitcoin is talking about money.
1020  Economy / Economics / Re: I guess now is the time to get ready. on: August 24, 2023, 09:31:33 PM
This won't be possible unless you're speaking hypothetically.
Realistically, this can't happen. Even if 1btc gets to a billion dollars, there would still be $10 worth of Bitcoin. It was designed that way.  Bitcoin was designed so that you can buy any amount you want. There is no minimum rate that people can buy.
The minimum amount of Bitcoin you can transfer is 0.000001BTC and that's like $0.02 today.

The worst that will happen is the dollar will lose value and $1 won't be worth anything anymore.
