1001  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Nigerian street pranks and its effect. on: October 17, 2023, 10:31:43 PM
As content creation gains popularity and people start making it big from YouTube/ Facebook monetization, content creators are becoming increasingly desperate and are willing to do any content to gain followers.

Pranking people on the street has become a common order with no consideration of the victim's emotional/psychological state of mind.

While we watch these videos and enjoy the entertainment part of it, some of the people pranked are left emotionally drained, some relationship/ couples trust has broken because they were pranked to check there faithfulness to each other and some people have lost so much useful information from there phone because a popular prankster smatched it on the ground and gives the victim a new one, not considering some important information in the phone that might be lost in the process.

Of course, some of these guys have landed themselves in trouble because they pranked the wrong person but others are yet to learn there lessons.

Entertainment is not bad, as a matter of fact I enjoy watching them alot but when you ridicule or take advantage of the ignorance of others just to create your content, it becomes a problem.

Omo the whole content creating of a thing has turned to in epidemic in Nigeria, from eating of food, to swimming in gutters, to nakedness, on social media. This entertainment pattern is becoming irritating nowadays.
The other day, I was just walking into the Spar mall, a guy just approached me with a mic 🎤 that he has a question to ask him, that I should give him five minutes of my time with a camera man beside him, I just look am with my vex mind, i just tell am to commot for my front, when him see my countenance say I no get joy, Baba just give me my way. Everything don turn content for naija.

Cointelegraph issues apology after falsely announcing that BlackRock's Spot Bitcoin ETF was approved by the SEC.

This news raised the price of Bitcoin in a short time.

where can I find the famous fake news in the last 5 years?

thx guys Wink
I initially saw the news on X, I was even suprise to later notice it was fake.
But my question is, why were they in a rush to publish such fake information to the public, is it that there is something they have in mind to drive at or is it that they're trying to get to SEC to make them approve Bitcoin ETH, because this approval has been lingering for a long time now and Rumours have been flying about this approval thing.
1003  Economy / Economics / Re: Global markets brace for fallout as Middle East tensions rise on: October 17, 2023, 09:06:08 PM
The Israeli-Hamas war has sharpened focus on rising geopolitical risks for financial markets, as investors wait to see if the conflict draws in other countries with the potential to drive up oil prices further and deal a fresh blow to the world economy.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Sunday to "demolish Hamas" as his military prepared ground operations in Gaza to root out the militant group, whose deadly rampage through Israeli border towns stunned the nation.
Source

Of course the crisis will one way or the other try to affect the price of oil at the international market and the world economy at large.
more countries across the globe are still struggling to survive the economic shock that was caused by the Russia and Ukraine war, where it has caused shortage of supply of gas to Europe, the shortage of supply  of grains and the general multiplier effects of inflation that is currently ravaging the world economy. It is an ugly situation globally at its stands now. Prime minister Benjamin netanyahu is making those vows because the situation has gone out of hand, more like the war has already started proper. I feel is not too late for all leaders across the world to continue to push for a ceasefire at this point in time, because you have look at the economic impact and the humanitarian impact of some of this crisis, the world economy cannot stress itself any longer.
1004  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin study. on: October 17, 2023, 08:10:24 PM
the rate wey people dey complain about low Bitcoin adoption, I dey think say if Dem introduce Bitcoin as a course of study for our institution, say people go adopt am wella.

Wetting dey make Bitcoin adoption dey  slow na because most people no dey educated on Bitcoin. Bitcoin too Dey broad or vast to just be wetting person go learn for street.

Just like the way we learn ABCD for school, we supposed to learn Bitcoin from nursery, primary secondary school and tertiary institution. So that we go dey conversant to am. Emagine 30years old Nigeria nan no no wetting Dem dey call Bitcoin.

Even if government no gree, we fit dey organise crypto class to enducate the younger generation to avoid always explaining our self. By teaching them everything about crypto currency. Wetting government sabi na to teach us x+y=0 find xy. but no sabi teach the youths how to make money.

If the society know the importance of Bitcoin, dem go rush fast. For example if you tell them say with Bitcoin furum their children fit train themselves for school without anybody's help. Dem go dey highly triggered to adopt crypto.

Na the small idea  wey I get be that. Wetting ona think about am.

I think the adoption of bitcoin among the youthful population is something to be recognised as well, though I agree that the there is a slow process  within the larger population of our country, but trust me, bitcoin is doing pretty well within the young people. Don't forget that, we are in a third world country, where some informations and innovation are scarce commodity to get, so the general population will only make do with what they have privy to. On like the first world countries that have this innovation like bitcoin at it's door step, so we cannot compare our awesomeness level with them. Just give it some time, bitcoin will penetrate deeply into the fabrics of our Nigerian society.

Will you leave gambling if your future wife/husband tells you to do this ?

If it's becoming unhealthy for my family, I will leave it, hence it will bring peace at that moment. But I will try to explain to my spouse the benefits of me gambling, and I how I can control my gambling habit, so we can find ourselves on a common ground, and for she to understand my point of view when it comes to gambling.
Because a lot of people despise gambling because they don't understand what's all about, or maybe they thick every gambler is a addicted to it, so you have a lot of people out there with a wrong notion about it. So whenever I find myself in those situation of people that don't understand, what gambling is, I try my best to make explanation in a bid to enlighten them.
1006  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 17, 2023, 03:31:07 PM
Player who injured is definitely will affect the result since the substitute player isn't as good as the main line up, I only talk about the skill while chemistry, strategy etc also give a big effect to other players. Not many teams have a balance main line up and substitute player, I think only Brighton have this, whoever who play, the result will not be different.
Let's see how Brighton faces Manchester City this week at the Etihad Stadium, because currently Manchester City's appearance is starting to look different even though it is still strong enough to win. But if Brighton can beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, this will actually be extraordinary for Brighton because it will continue to create increasingly exciting competition in the Premier League standings table. However, I am also still not sure about Brighton in terms of beating Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
With Manchester City having lost their last two English Premier League matches, many are worried about what they will do against Brighton.
Brighton are one of the strongest teams in the Premier League but they don't seem to be able to do well against Manchester City in this match. Manchester City are already under a lot of pressure after dropping points in the last two matches so the match against Brighton is very important for them and they will never want to drop points in this match. Another positive for Manchester City is that this match will be played at the Etihad Stadium where Manchester City are favorites against any team. Brighton can lose against Manchester City by a big margin in this match.
That will be a crucial match for Man City post the international break. As fans, we're hoping for a victory. Playing at the Etihad Stadium, Man City should be the favorites and should secure a comfortable win. Anyway good news is that some injured players are expected to be back, giving Pep with an opportunity to choose the best lineup. Brighton is a strong team with the potential to beat anyone. Summing up Man City's recent losses in the English Premier League, they'll likely be highly motivated to get all three points in their home game against Brighton.
Of course Manchester city are currently on high spirit, Brighton wouldn't stand a chance in the Etihad stadium, though this is the game of football where anything can happen, we shouldn't be surprised that Brighton might just pick a point or three 😁 at the end of the day. Because even when wolves did the unthinkable, nobody expected it.
But then pep guardiola going by his kind of person, will be vexed with the current situation of his team, so I believe pep will be coming up with a mad formation to demolish Brighton on Saturday.
1007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or keep playing? on: October 17, 2023, 01:35:03 PM
I want to pose a question that I believe is quite expensive for many of us here, and it's a dilemma most of us can relate to. We all know that gambling is a game where we put our luck to the test. However, there's a crucial moment in every gambler's journey. the moment when you hit that big win. Do you cash out and savor your victory, or do you continue playing in hopes of even bigger winnings?

I've often wondered how many of us can truly stop playing when we are ahead. It's a challenge because the allure of winning more can be irresistible. I've witnessed situations where a friend deposited money into a casino, faced losses, and just when he was on the brink of frustration, he struck a significant win. Did he stop playing? No, he left his winnings in the casino, only to lose it all again.
So, I ask you all, what would you do when you finally make that big win? Would you cash out immediately to enjoy your winnings, or would you keep playing in the hopes of an even more substantial prize? Shocked

For anybody that has placed a bet and his bet comes out successful especially when it's a big win, trust me that person will always want to play gamble. It more like a wake-up call whenever you win big, a psychological sense of entitlement will just come into you with the hope that you will still make a big win again, that sense of entitlement will make you to play over and over again. So in answering your question, I will continue playing.

When you win big and you have a lot of funds with you, it will make you want to be playing small odds and be making higher-stakes, so you can continue winning because at that point, money is no longer the problem, the problem will now be your ability to continue having accurate predictions to keep you at the top echelon, so that you will be an elite gambler.
1008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 17, 2023, 11:58:49 AM
Manchester City may be interested in Toni Kross. He is a great midfielder. However, Manchester City's midfield is already much stronger now. So I don't think it would be very profitable to add Kross, who is almost 34 years old, to the team. Talented midfielders like De Bruyne, Silva and Phillips are already in the City squad. If City want to plan long term then they should add a young talented midfielder to the squad. The addition of Toni Kroos to the squad may have strengthened City's performance. But I doubt if he can give service to the team for more than 2/3 years.
The new interests me and since Toni Kroos is a player that has worked with Pep Guardiola with Bayern Munich, moving to Manchester City have a good possibility of happening.
Being 34 means nothing. Toni Kroos, still has that ability to break down defense with his passes. That is something he can bring into Pep Guardiola's side. Besides, they've lost Gundogan and since left, no player has met his standards.

Pep Guardiola already brought in a yougin from Manchester City Academy he ( Lewis ,) is already doing well. Did had a good game against Arsenal but no matured enough in midfied.
I instead believe that Guardiola will be interested in young players that has long future to spend in the club. I also do not think that Guardiola will allow players like Gundigon and Mahrez to leave the club and in the end bring player as old as Toni Kross to play with him. His experience with Toni in Bayern is old enough to be forgotten and dwell on new people and new challenges.
In the other hand, Toni wanted to end his career in Madrid but was persuaded by Madrid management to help the club to play one more season. I am surprised Toni wants to continue playing. It is good and passionate although

I also think Guardiola will plan for the long term. He is an experienced coach. He will not waste money. Manchester City will have to spend a lot of money to add Toni Kroos to the squad. And at the same time it is not sure whether Toni Kross will be able to adapt himself to the Premier League. The Premier League game and the La Liga game are completely different. And so I would say Guardiola should add young talented players to the squad instead of investing money on Toni Kross. As a result, if the young player adapts himself to the team, he will be able to support City for a long time. Adding Toni Kroos to the squad at a high price for only 2 seasons would not be the right decision. However, Manchester City can add Toni Kroos to the squad if the transfer fee is low or a free transfer.

Toni kroos to Manchester city is not possible, it's too much of a tall dream, pep guardiola will not sign Toni, especially considering his age.  i agree they will go for a long term solution, at least a much younger person. Kroos will be too much on expenses. Though Manchester city midfield is not doing bad,  they just have to hold on tight till Kevin De Bruyne comes back from injury to strengthen it.

Even if Pep wanted Toni, I don't think Toni would want them. Toni is now about to become a legendary player for Real Madrid. He is a team player who, along with Modric, has achieved significant success in Real Madrid's midfield for a long time. I think he will probably end his career in Real Madrid.
Of course going by the reality of things you will observe that Toni will end his career in Real Madrid, at his age and considering his consistency in Madrid, it is likely that it will be his last destination because even on the national team he's no longer active on the national team. so there is no point for him to leave one of the biggest club in the world.

Hi forum people

Please don't mind my typing skill and pattern but I have been snooping around this community for some time and still haven't certainly understood the whole website because the whole system seems very confusing.

There is this current surge of Bitcoin boom going on in my place and I feel like am left behind and so I have been asking alot of questions and some of my colleagues are actually tired of me because I ask alot of crazy questions some time.

And there deem it fit that I should ask this question in a place where I can be fully corrected and guided so I asked for link of Bitcoin website this one was given to me.

Please all I want to know Is the basics and how can I benefits from this Bitcoin that is exploding everywhere.

It depends on what you've heard about bitcoin, and the kind of benefits your expecting to get. Bitcoin is decentralized digital currency, that has value's. There are two major factors in bitcoin you can easily benefit from. You can start by learning how to trade cryptocurrency and bitcoin in particular. You can as well,  get a good amount of bitcoin and get hold of it for a while, till the price you got it for goes up and that makes your investment increase in value.
1010  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Implications of War on Individuals on: October 16, 2023, 10:08:23 PM
I hate wars. I hate conflicts. Both they are almost unavailable. Wars and conflicts disrupts lives. It kills people - men, women, babies. Businesses are shot down. Schools are shot down. Boys become father's and look after their moms and siblings because their father has gone to war. Daughters become mothers and have to care for their siblings because they lose their mothers to war. Children with perfectly normal lives become refugees

Wars and conflicts doesn't give you the time to plan. It happens fast and it happens suddenly. It comes with a huge economic cost. And for us in the cryptocurrency, we are not exempted too. If you are a miner, your mining operation is affected because if you are caught up in the conflict, you have to abandon it and flee so that you do not get killed.

I am deeply saddened by these wars. I am not taking sides because there are human causalities in both sides.

- do you have any survival tips during war period?
- are there any business that I can do during a period of war so as to sustain my family? Can I still budget, save and earn in Bitcoin?
- What is the economic impacts on individuals with families and how do I sustain them during war period.

Nobody benefits from war as lives are destroyed and  economic reality is always on the downtrend, that is why it is always said that, it better to jaw-jaw than to war-war. Dialogue is always the solution to any conflict because even after the war the both warring factions will still come to a round table to dialogue, so why not dialogue in the first place before going to war, because dialogue will prevent the war from happening.
There are hardly survivor tips in war, because everywhere will be destroyed, except you have to move over to remote areas that are not known by your enemies to stay low, if not everywhere is almost brought to the ground level, they say whatever you do in war is fair.

1012  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How many of our leader knows the functionality of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency? on: October 16, 2023, 09:00:46 PM
I came across a video online where a content creator interviewed some guys on the street about their knowledge of bitcoin/cryptocurrency and I was shocked by their rate of ignorance.

I analyzed the age range of those who said they have no idea of Bitcoin and found out that they are mostly in their early 40s and above.

This got me pondering on so many things and then I got to realize why a lot hasn't changed in our country even after we have a succession of leaders regularly

Because of the difference in what is prevalent at every phase of life, you can't expect a leader who, during his youthful age saw youths concentrating much on farming and military activity to come up with ideas that are centered on building strong tech guru or even legalize any bitcoin related stuff that he knows little to nothing about.

If you observe well, you will notice that most lecturers, deans, and HODs of most Nigeria universities are old folks who don't even know much about the changes in the tech sectors and can't effect reasonable managerial decisions that will help the schooling curriculum meet up with the demands and realities of the moment.

It's a sad situation but I think it brings us back to the fact that we need more youth involved in our politics and well-represented in the House of Assembly and Senate if we are ready to make reasonable growth in another sector of our country.

Your not far from the truth, most older folks don't know anything about bitcoin,  because if you check through those people that are involved in bitcoin, you will notice they are mostly young people who are into innovation and tech.  For lecturers, I feel even if they have an idea about bitcoin because they do research everyday. they don't really have the mindset set to explore it. More like they feel their lecturing jobs is okay with them. As for politicians, just forget those people, they don't even know anything about innovation or tech, they are just interested in oil money and allocation to share every month, so Bitcoin is alien to them.

1014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 16, 2023, 06:59:49 PM
At one of the local gambling shop I visited during the weekend I happened to listen to a conversation between two bald looking gamblers at the shop talking about one of their gambling colleague who had won a big amount of money amounting to a million in the local currency and due to that win this colleague of theirs' has been avoiding them since e won that money. From their conversation it was obvious that they were a circle of close three friends that gamble together.

After all I finished with my bet headed home and was asking myself what could the colleague act that way avoiding his close friends they all gambling together and just because luck shines on him first he decides to create a distance and class. I couldn't actually annex a good reason why anyone should do that.

I can think of only 3 reasons why that colleague would behave in this way.

1. He wants to stay low because he doesn't want many people to know about his winning. We know that lots of money brings unwanted attention and may be that's why he is keeping distance from everyone until he figures out what to do with this money.

2. He would be thinking that his colleagues would ask him for money and he doesn't want to give them any.

3. He might be busy enjoying his reward elsewhere.

Funny enough, I see some reasons in your line of thought. But if it was his friend that won that money and not him, i believe he would be complaining of the Same thing if his friend is giving him this same attitude he currently dishing out. Money some times brings out some hidden characters in people, and the guy has shown to be that kind of person to his friends. There is nothing wrong in giving his friends some amount of money to share within themselves, at least to cheer them up for their friendship over the years, doing that wouldn't make him go broke.
1015  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: October 16, 2023, 06:31:28 PM
I don’t think most people gamble because they don’t have sufficient funds. Quite the opposite actually. I think people gamble when they have funds burning a hole in their pocket and they’re looking for a little quick entertainment. Sure, there are plenty of people who gamble hoping to get rich, but they are usually the ones lacking funds.

Gamblers ranges from different works of life, the low income earners, the average income earners and the super rich in our society. In as much as we know the risk involved, majority of gamblers want to double their money.
Of course there are lots of people that have hit the jackpot with gambling, those situation comes once in a while, but then those stories of big win are the propellers that makes some set of person's continue gamble, with the hope that, favour will find them.
1016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit card gambling fuels gambling addiction on: October 16, 2023, 11:59:05 AM
I don't know how deep the debt on credit card gambling is today until I do my own research and mehn, and it's very sad, many people are in debt because they keep using their credit cards to fund their gambling hunger.

Imagine someone you know telling you that it will take him 12 years topay off his debt, I now know why few countries don't want their citizens to gamble using their credit cards,  betting on credit cards has left too many people in thousands of debt.

Which makes me think that Credit card is far more helping to fuel gambling addiction more than anything else, you don't actually have the money, but you can still gamble, this alone will make people to lose their minds and gamble anyhow.

I'm glad I don't even like using Credit cards for gambling and my reason isn't even because of possible reckless gambling but because I don't like centralized payment solutions, you should stay away from using Credit card to gamble online, it sure would easily throw you out in the street, homeless.

This is actually my first time of hearing that you can actually gamble using your credit card. this particular system  is not in my country so I cannot easily relate. But trust me if it's implemented in my country, it will make lot of people go into debt, because imagine a situation where I don't have money to stake a bet, but  I can still use my credit card to enable me stake my bet, pending when I will get the money to pay back, and it will deducted directly from my account. If it's made possible in my country 😁,  I'm sure I will be indebted to all the casino companies In my country. It seriously will breed a lot of addicted gamblers, the privilege will be abused and it will breed a lot of broke gamblers.

What country are you that credit card is not implemented?I don't think there is a country on earth that has not such system implemented honestly,as long as you have internet to access the forum in your country you should also be able to use your credit card for anything as you are making me extremely curious what country is this that they don't use credit card system?

I personally use the credit card when I am low on money as I know when I get my salary of next month I can pay that 7% amount which is in my country but depending on the country can go up to 18% as a minimum payment for the credit card.Of course this in the end fuels gambling addiction and also debt  Grin.

I'm from Nigeria, and what we usually use here is debit card, though there are very few number of persons that have credit card, but what is in general use is debit card, and you cannot make purchase if you don't have funds in it, on like credit card that gives you a leverage to still make purchase even if you don't have money at that moment, pending when you will paid your salary, so you could pay back your debt. So when I tell you that casino companies or bet sites, don't give us that leverage of credit card usage, I'm not exaggerating, because it's a real situation here.

Some people may resort to gambling due to various reasons, such as seeking excitement, or coping with personal issues. Though I usually prefer to gamble for fun because of avoiding emotions

People bet for just one reason, the reason people go into gamble is because they want to make money. Of course people gamble for fun, even if you do it for fun, gambling is not something funny because your money is involved, and you could lose a very good amount of money because it is risky. I doubt if anyone would go into gamble for excitement or going into it just because your going through issues. It's for making profit, of course people do it for leisure but the major aim is for them to make profit at the end of the day.

For more info : T & C

Jt

This is actually good that you pointed this out not like most casino will hide behind their T&C and will advice people to make use of VPN to by pass the restriction. But this leave me to this question.

What about those who are from countries which are not mentioned among your restricted countries from playing in your casino let me take (Nigeria for example) people from here are allowed to play and use the service but as a gambler who want to hide his privacy I mean protect his location can such person make use of Tor and be safe as they can still prove that they are from a none restricted country through KYC proceedings.

I feel hence your not from the restricted countries mentioned, after doing your KYC, you can proceed in using it, because after a win you can  access your fund. On like the restricted countries that where mentioned, if you bypass the registration process and go ahead in opening an account by using VPN, It would be difficult access your funds after a win.

Streaming it live it's my problem only if they can be showing it on our local television stations like they should be consistent even on Gotv, Startimes and DStv. Not after week 1 or 2 they'll stop and we have to hear it from the news or something.
The App should have been free till the end of the season, because this is one part of promoting our league and we all know they (NFF) haven't been doing well in the past so they can use this season to redeem themselves.

We have to be realistic in our demands haha. Even in ENGLAND; The English premier league is not broadcast for free in their television stations; you need to subscribe to ESPN, Skysports separately for a champions league and EPL Coverage. We cannot continue to demand subsidy in our sports and hope that they become better.

This season the NPFL has taken the right step in the right direction, securing live streaming broadcast rights with MTN & Propel; and presently they are negotiating with Supersports and Startimes for a 5 year broadcast deal that will ensure television coverage.

If the app is free usage until the end of the season; how would partners earn? how would advertisement be achieved? Its a fair deal from all parties.
Its time to embrace our own too.

The annoying aspect of it all is that the money is there to use in running these promotions but embezzlement won't let them do the needful to make the NPFL stand out among major leagues in Africa. What stops them from streaming it live on at least in the national TV station like NTA sports station to use it in creating awareness and capturing the interest of Nigerians to beam towards the league. If not that I gambling most of times I wouldn't know when these matches are scheduled, it's only when I get to the gambling shop that I have to see the fixtures being pasted on their board and that's very bad for a league like this.

Then Nigerian should a sport station which they can use to broadcast their sport activities without begging for a television station to broadcast it for them. Nigeria has the resources to make her sport festival great but the management of NPFL is highly corrupted that everything is woe. Even the selection of players from the local team level to the national team is from favourism, man know man. The broadcasting of the league should be done on TV and Radio but it is only Radio news we heard about this events.

NPFL can make the local league to the standard one but their siphoning the money to do another things so dem no fit use am do.

Of course NPFL can have radio stations and television channels that can be licensed to broadcast their games. But they will have to do more than that to make the league lively. they need to attract investors into the local league, they need to be doing jingles on television and radio stations to attract more fans to come out and watch games, so they too can attract more revenue to themselves. if these things are done, you will see the league gradually coming back the glory days.
